- Jose (8/5): Good 3 day stay! - I loved the atmosphere. In the mornings people would just be in the lobby and chat, also the rooms were pretty nice. Everything was pretty clean. Also, staff were friendly and helpful.
One of the staff told us about one spot for us to visit, and it was the lighthouse. It was beautiful, we are grateful that she told us about it. Only 2 things.
One were the bed sheets/mattress. The mattress was sunken in the middle so it was a bit uncomfortable. Also, the bed sheets, they were clean I believe, but every night before bed it left me really itchy, and I would scratch myself to sleep.
Second, was one of the showers on the top floor with the toilet. The showerhead is a bit too high, and it couldn't be adjusted, it was hard for me and my family to shower well because we are on the shorter side.

- George (10/5): All good! - Wonderful staff, great location, amenities (bathrooms & kitchen) very nice. Nada
- Hannah (9/5): Simple but cozy - We only stayed one night in a private bunk room but loved the simple but cozy hostel accommodations. It was spotlessly clean and tidy. Prime location on the main street of Nelson so you can easily walk to eat and shop. The staff who helped us check in were so nice and accommodating. This is a fantastic value for a place to stay with no frills. I loved having a sink in the individual room. It would have been even better to have a hand towel and a little table beside the pedestal sink to set makeup and things on.

- Kenneth (9/5): It was excellent - It was great Parking could be organized better
- Leonardo (10/5): Great and cheap place to stay, great location close to restaurants and bars - Free ski rack and also to dry your ski boots.
well located. Baker Street is the main street of Nelson. lots of bars and restaurants at walking distance. Nice place to meet backpackers not enough showers/ bathroom , you have to go up or downstairs.
- Hannah (6/5): Pretty good (: - Perfect location and super reasonable price. Was very grateful for somewhere to stay (: Rooms were kept very warm which made resting uncomfortable. I was confused about the parking.
- Dana (10/5): Great location, great staff, great room! - This was a beautiful spot that was very clean. The bunk beds are so comfy, the showers were very clean, and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. Plus the location was perfect - you just walk right out of the building and you're on the main drag. We couldn't get there our first night because the ferry was down, and the staff were very accommodating. 5/5 stars! It was all great!

- Life (7/5): Excellent all in all. - We meet people and you have instant friends when you go out around town. Hard to get out of top bunk when your roomie is below and a night table is also at the bottom of the stairs provided.

Great hostel type atmosohere More bathrooms..
- Turner-Collinge (10/5): One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at. Really great communal chilling area, dorms and bathrooms were clean, same with k - Well kept hostel, cozy communal area, clean dorms Nothing!
- Pulling (10/5): Cosy Hostel in Nelson - Everything was great! No faults. Stayed in an 8 room dorm, clean beds clean dorm and good vibes amongst travellers. Awesome kitchen facilities with fridge and gas-top. Bathrooms were great with plenty on each level.
Super close to everything you want to see in the town of nelson. Cyndi manages the hostel, she is more than welcoming. Great place to stop in for a night or a week! Nothing

- Christie (9/5): -
- Artem (9/5): Would return. - Location, parking, beds. The sleep was very good. Mattress and pillow super comfy. I checked the carbon dioxide level (I’m geek) - and ventilation was better, than in a tent (around 1000 ppm)! Taking in account I was hiding on a lower shelf behind towels. Stuff is awesome. The kitchen and overall the downstairs space felt kinda industrial. Not very cosy.
- Ravi (10/5): -
- Billy James (10/5): I recommended those who want to sleep for one night. - I like the place even though we rent the bed space, the place are clean. It's good for travelers that need to stop for 1 night.
- Tracy (8/5): My husband has never stayed in a hostel before. He would definitely stay based on his experience her - The facilities are excellent. Other clients were respectable and cleaned up after using the kitchen. Depending our room could geta little chilly
- Jon (10/5): Good tim - Clean af A little expensive, but we also had nice rooms and the world exploded in 2020
- Magnus (7/5): -
- Patricia (7/5): -

- Stephanie (8/5): Would stay here again. - Convenient location for where we needed to be at a good price. Staff were very friendly and helpful when we had to extend our stay. We finished our task early and would have liked to have headed out on the road the same day as we had a long trip to make, but were told it was too late to cancel our last night, so ended up staying and being held up by all the road closures.
- Lauren (10/5): Friendly, helpful staff and great facilities. - Great location on the main street.
- Falat (9/5): -
- Jill (9/5): -
- Olivia (8/5): - The location and the friendly staff Room was a bit cramped
- Ayukawa (8/5): Fav place to stay in Nelson - The communal kitchen is wonderful. As is the sitting room. People staying at a hostel have interesting stories and seem to be more authentic. The mattress was a bit thin. Very basic, but then again, this is a hostel.
- Matt (10/5): This was my first time in Nelson and first time staying in a hostel, it was a great experience and I would definitely st - Excellent location, clean, quiet, cozy and tons of character. That I had to leave
- Wickson (7/5): -
- Kirsten Morfeld (8/5): - Fin og rimelig overnatting midt i Nelson
- Shuwen (8/5): -
- - Elaine Hyde (10/5): - So friendly, comfortable and peaceful
- Phoebe (1/5): - When I got there alone it was locked, I did not check in and they charged me for my stay even though I never checked in or stayed the night Being charged without my consent
- Natasha (8/5): - Clean, quiet (I had a room at the back) and comfortable. Check-in was a bit messy as someone didn’t show up for their shift at 4, and I had not received the email with check-in instructions. I was fortunately able to get in with someone else who called the appropriate number. The young Australian woman who took over was very professional and things went smoothly from there. I would definitely stay at the Dancing Bear pagain.
- Isaac (6/5): Fine. Way too expensive. - Location. Great front desk staff (sydney). Many washrooms and showers. Insanely expensive for a hostel.
- Pierre (10/5): -
- Bats33 (9/5): -

- Mary (9/5): A wonderful hostel in the heart of Nelson. -
- Marie (7/5): - We liked having a kitchen to cook our breakfast and lunches. Room was too hot at times
- Jackie (7/5): -
- Mohammadi (9/5): - Everything was great Parking spot was hard to find.
On the back side of the building there was a small parking and some people parked their car the way that no els can fit his car even though there was enough space, and no one was checking on the one.
- Dale (8/5): - Rooms clean and comfortable
- Martin (10/5): -
- Catherine (6/5): Accommodations very basic. - Location on the Main Street was handy. It was a very basic tiny room with a bunk bed. The place could use some freshening up. Hallway floors seemed dirty and guests are asked to remove their shoes.
- Wanita (8/5): -
- Genevieve (8/5): - Good location, some parking spots in the alley behind the hostel Few washrooms. Shower and toilet together, so had to wait sometimes.
- Jenny (8/5): All good overall - Bathroom a little fresher
- Khamlichi (10/5): -
- Bruno (10/5): -
- Sorren (9/5): Hostel Comfort - Great location allowing you to walk through the city center. The co-ed dorm was booked full but still clean with friendly occupants. The large fully stocked kitchen allows you to cook and store food on your stay. The hostel has an easy layout with multiple common areas to unwind and connect with others.
- allen (9/5): -
- Sage (10/5): Would definitely stay again, one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at. - The location was excellent, staff were so nice, and the room was very clean and spacious. The parking is very limited
- Andrew G. (7/5): - Nice location, cozy style, nice and helpful stuff. You can't turn off the vent in a ceiling, and it was making noise all night.
- Colleen (10/5): Great Place - I love this place. I'm a repeat customer. The location is great, the beds are comfortable, the staff is very friendly and the place is clean nothing
- Virginia (8/5): I stayed one night explored the evening and again in the am, suited my needs for exploring Nelson - Great location, easy to walk to restaurants and shops. It’s a historic building , clean , convenient location. Simple, and reasonably priced.
- Amanda (10/5): A lovely hostel with a good kitchen that is well stocked - It was exactly as described. It is very simple but clean and welcoming . The kitchen facilities were excellent
- Mary (9/5): - Lovely welcome at the reception. Several areas to sit and relax. Comfy beds. Nothing not to like
- Anthony (9/5): -
- Dan (7/5): -
- nicole (7/5): - Excelent location. For the price is worthy.
- Katharine (10/5): - Great place to stay on a budget
- Nick (8/5): -
- Holly (6/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): -
- Jason (9/5): -
- Patrik (7/5): -
- Bryson (10/5): - This is our second time staying and The Dancing Bear is an incredible spot. The showers are hot, the mattresses are comfortable, and the staff are relatable. Highly recommend.
- Amanda (10/5): A unique quirky place.Clean and simple with great kitchen facilities - I like the simplicity and the facilities for cooking and eating in an outdoor patio
- Sarah (9/5): - Lovely, clean hostel in perfect Nelson location. Staff and facilities all excellent. Visitors should be aware that the hours the Reception is closed also means the hostel itself is locked to non-guests. ie: if you're arriving a few hours before check-in time and hoping to ditch your bags, this won't be possible. Staff are super helpful and I'm sure would try to accommodate if given enough notice, but I reached out two days before arrival and didn't receive a response. I checked out in the morning, but I imagine you might have a similar issue if wanting to leave bags after checkout. Bag storage is typically one of the benefits of staying in a hostel/hotel rather than an AirBnb, so if there was a better way to accommodate this, that would be fabulous! Otherwise an excellent place.
- Lena (8/5): - Simple accommodations for our one night. There's a nice back garden to sit in and a cozy lobby/living room to relax in. Bathrooms are clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Love this place!!
- Kardev (5/5): -
- Kenneth (8/5): - Social areas are cozy.
