Guest Reviews
- Michael (1/5): - Worst experience , bathroom are moldy, Dirty!!!
- Vincent Daniel Joaquin (3/5): Disappointed - The Location is good. Overlooking and far from city noise. Guard at the entrance pull us over and he even asked me to call their admin instead of him checking our booking. Pool is under construction and there's concierge fee even though you don't have any other food selection. Olive restaurant is not open giving us only 1 option where to eat. They should mention these things in the booking description
- 333reynards (8/5): Wonderful Experience at Thunderbird Rizal (Just Needs a Bit of Renovation) - We stayed at Thunderbird Rizal and it was a great overall experience. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the room was clean and comfortable. Internet connection was strong, and mobile data signal was also reliable throughout the property.
For travelers, I recommend taking the route via Barangay Mahabang Parang, as the alternative road is extremely steep and may be challenging for some cars.
One of the highlights of our stay was the food—everything we tried was delicious. For those looking to unwind or enjoy nightlife, the property also has a casino, which adds to the experience.
If there is one thing I would like to comment on, it would be the condition of the buildings. I hope management can look into making some renovations or maintenance improvements where needed to match the overall quality of the service.
Overall, it was a pleasant and enjoyable stay, and we would consider returning.
- Andrea (4/5): Not coming back - Rooms are old and there is a distinct smell to it. Food is pricey but not really tasty. Food options are limited as well (mostly pork which does not suit our diet). When we arrived, some facilities are not working as well like the swimming pool and the nearby restaurant. The restaurant in the casino area is a bit far and it was raining so, these areas are not easily accessible as the walking path is not covered. This is unbecoming for a four-star(?) hotel.

- noemiali08 (6/5): Front Desk Personnel needs Training - The room is nice. Beds are comfy.
the pool is big and clean (though we didnt swim). The personnel in the reception / front desk should undergo Customer service training.
During checkout, at 11am, I was told that the person was on break until 11:30am. I told the woman there, No. have someone assist me right now and not make me wait for 30 mins! They did call someone from Finance to assist me. thing is, they should have an alternate personnel to readily assist if the one in charge is on break. Specially people usually checks out between 11-12nn.
The Casino area looks old. plated breakfast was Ok. Its just a hassle to bring the things inside the bedroom as you will pass by an outdoor patio (specially it was raining when we checked in).

- tingdiver (6/5): Nice new wing with big pool and rooms but missed some key details - Rooms in new wing are more modern. Very good shower and water pressure with easy to calibrate hot-n-cold system. We stayed in a Family Room with huge space and big bathroom. We had 2 double beds (not 1 queen and double as advertised) but they were very comfortable with soft beddings and pillows of good support. Our balcony was furnished with a pair of chairs and table but I heard not all rooms had them. Room was equipped with smart TV and Cignal cable although setting it up is complicated. WiFi is good. And resort staff are responsive and rectify issues within 15mins or less. Closet also already had extra pillows and adequate wooden hangers for clothes.
The swimming pool in the new wing is BIG with a smaller kiddie pool at the end. There are ample cabanas and tables and showers are conveniently located on either end of the deck. Lifeguard and other staff are attentive.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT:
Room towels are already GRAYISH and they don't equip rooms with hand towels. I had to requestfor them and the ones they provided were BADLY IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT.. Also not enough towel racks and hanging pegs in the toilet. Shower shelf looked as if it was about to fall off. There are no handrails in shower stall and near toilet seat for better accessibility. Toilet paper is only 1 ply (note room price is Php8000 A NIGHT).
Our room was spacious but furnishings were sparse. For such a big room, an extra bench and desk chair would've been nice. Also the room key slot no longer works to automatically switch off room electricity so we had to switch lamps, TV, etc off 1 by 1. Also no centralised switches near the beds for easier access before sleeping. No room slippers or bathrobes provided.
Swimming pool already shows signs of algae and foot ladder steps are too small to hold adult feet wc means you have no choice but to exit using the steps at the near end of the pool.
Food is also quite expensive for ordinary fare although tasty. If you order from the pool, food takes a longer time to come as there are 2 different restaurants serving the resort.
The impression we got is that management seems to have decided to go budget on some items (toilet paper, pool maintenance, room furnishings, towels) while investing in others (shower pressure, beddings, etc), leading to an INCONSISTENT EXPERIENCE in the overall stay of guests.
- Marilyn (5/5): Give priority to seniors guest - Poor service especially to seniors
- Marilyn (5/5): Not so good as expected to a five star hotel - Uncomfortable for seniors ! Too far n seniors have to go up n down
- Anne (2/5): Very poor -
- Ruel (10/5): Excellent and their concierge staff - BJ very helpful in everything with our family during our stay in their resorts!!! - The eco-friendly environment and the world class services given by their staffs particularly BJ the Concierge staff!!! The friendly and helpful staff!!!
- Vincent (9/5): Superb -
- lracnajj (2/5): Based on my experience - Terrible experience is too understatement here. Check in is 2pm we waited for four hours and the room is still not yet available. Waiting hall, walang aircon or electricfan man lang, walang tubig, dugyot yung nga staffs tsaka yung place tsaka mga bastos at bobo yung staffs, di marunong sumagot ng maayos. Wag na wag kayong pupunta dito siguradong mag sisisi kayo.

- John (1/5): If you seek relaxation, this place is not for you. The service is poor, rooms are not clean, and the overbearing corkage - I didn't like anything. It was a completely bad experience. From check-in to check-out, the experience was disappointing. The wait times were excessively long at both ends, and the rooms were far from satisfactory. The curtains were dusty, and the bathroom had mold issues, with a broken door. Adding to the disappointment, there was a corkage fee of 500 pesos for utensils. When we requested a spoon for our kids, they initially demanded a fee, only waiving it when I mentioned booking four rooms. The next day, at the pool, only one staff member was attending to a large area. We waited over 30 minutes for water, and to our surprise, they charged an exorbitant 71 pesos for a 500ml bottle of Nature Spring, despite being near major supermarkets. Checking out wasn’t any smoother, as I had to wait for 30 minutes just to clarify the receipt. I hope the management addresses these issues and enhances their service and facilities.

- ledoR14 (4/5): Needed a lot of improvement. Overall rating is POOR. - Starting with reception, first experience with a hotel staff wasn't very nice. Staff were very unfriendly not accommodating, NO welcoming atmosphere shown by the staff in reception. Room is clean, however for having two guest and with an option of room service, I think one chair is not enough. We stayed for three days, and there were only two pieces of coffee sachet available, we needed to phone reception often to request for a top-up, however at times no one would be answering. We went to the casino and the interiors were old and run down. We understand that some parts of the hotel were under maintenance when we were there, however that shouldn't be a hindrance in providing a good customer experience.. The entrance door opens to the garden, however the view from the big window is a brick wall of the casino. It should be a common knowledge to shut the door and open the window curtains at times to appreciate the nature around the hotel, however it's very disappointing to see brick wall out of the window during our entire stay there. A good landscaping of the outside space between the walls of the hotel and casino building could have at least make-up for the view. The food was below average, not pleasantly presented, so we didn't had a good appetite at all. Hopefully, once the renovation is done, the atmosphere of the hotel would elevate from poor to good. I would also like to suggest that Management provide a good re-training program for the staff to be able to provide an excellent customer service, this will not only be beneficial for the staff skills but will also improve the hotel's reputation. For now, I think my evaluation of my entire experience with the hotel is a poor rating of two stars. Hope that this review would be helpful to other travellers looking for a good accommodation in the future. Thanks.
- Glenguy54 (2/5): Customer Service abysmal. Female receptionist could not care less. Resort looks really run down and dirty. - Receptionist was very unfriendly and acted as if she was doing us a favour by speaking to us - couldn’t care less. This is the opposite to my other experiences in the Philippines.
The room was nice but the view was the casino end wall - horrible. Breakfast was very poor - in room on bed (only 1 chair in room) or in the casino. Very limited choice for breakfast like bacon or corned beef with rice or toast (not both). Coffee was very poor and you could only have coffee OR fruit juice, not both
Checked Olives restaurant for dinner - nobody in the restaurant except staff. Meals were very expensive - so we left and ordered a meal from room service.
In the room only 2 coffee sachets for 2 people. No hand towels and very few TV channels.
Casino looks old and tired. The food available was the same as the room service menu which was quite limited.
Resort is mostly run down and closed for maintenance. The only pool available closes at 6pm!! The other one is empty with tarp sheeting around it, which looks like it has been there for a long time with no work being done.
No info on shuttle bus departure point so we missed the bus and security couldn’t help us. He phoned reception and they told him that there was no 6pm bus - but I think it left from the Casino!
The return from SM Angono was advertised on the leaflet to be at 8.30pm but my partner phoned to check and it was actually going to leave at 8pm. So we would have missed it and the next one was at 10pm. Why is it advertised on the sheet (in extremely small print, like size 6) at the wrong time?
I am sure it was probably a great resort years ago - now, it is maybe ok as a Bed and Breakfast room, if you are not looking for a room with a view or a decent breakfast.
We came from Scotland and stayed here on a recommendation from a local from Angono who uses the Golf Course nearby. We have updated him on our experience so that he will not recommend it again.
It must be difficult to update and maintain such a large complex. However, if you don’t give a good experience to the few guests that you have then the business will not grow to allow for further improvements.
Customer service needs a total review and retraining required.
Views can be improved with gardens and the horrible walls could have murals on them to take away the look of a run down building.
The resort has great potential- but management and staff need to care and they need to make guests feel special during their stay - not an inconvenience. We went to speak to a receptionist at 6pm after missing the shuttle but there was nobody on duty - they were on a break somewhere??
I feel the company needs to decide what to focus on for their business. Is it the rundown casino, good golf course or resort complex (accommodation, restaurant and pool).
I will not return unless all these things change.
- Salvador (1/5): Overall ill give it a 3, we were expecting to do activities with the kids but it wasnt posted on the website that it is - I just like the bed of the room and how the staff is accommodating. I hope you update your website regarding the activities is still under maintenance. And my view from room
is not nice. Not near the pool side. Early in the morning the kids are still sleeping there was a staff lawn-mowing and the rocks hitting the balcony window at 8:30 am and we were trying to call the guy but he cant hear us. We want to have a peace and quite sleep before we checked out. But we didn’t.

- Robert_in_Manila (4/5): Poor Value for Money - Never Again!!! - Our stay started poorly and got worse. Resort provides bare minimum guest services in the cheapest manner possible.
When I made my booking I asked for a quiet room away from the pool. The first room they assigned was at the corner of the property next to an intersection. Three poorly muffled motorcycles passed by within 8 meters of our balcony within 5 minutes of arrival. I asked to be moved to a different room. After repeated calls, a new room was assigned.
The new room was marginally clean and poorly maintained. The sliding glass door onto the balcony was rusted shut, the toilet seat was loose on one side. One, repeat one small roll of toilet paper was provided. When I called housekeeping - no answer. (No answer at Front Desk throughout our stay - was able to get through only by calling in from an outside line.)
Was awakened twice the next morning. At six a.m. the guest upstairs started dragging furniture around. This happened each morning during our stay. At about 8 a.m., I was again awakened by very loud music from the pool area. A large speaker had been set up at one end of the pool and pop music was blaring out - insonifying three housing buildings. Apparently no one considered that people might be sleeping late. I recommend that this practice be stopped immediately. The music that appeals to hotel staff is not appropriate for a family resort. Music should be appropriate and at a moderate volume starting not earlier than 10 a.m. (Installation of fixed volume speakers around the pool would be ideal.)
The Olives Restaurant is part of the resort complex. Food there is very expensive and of poor quality. Breakfast was included in our room rate, so we went to Olives the first morning of our stay. We found a buffet with steam tables full of old, picked over and very low quality food. (The whole food presentation was messy and looked dirty - no member of staff was to be seen.) We returned to Olives later in the day and found that the regular menu items were expensive and almost inedible. I ordered spaghetti with meat sauce that was the worst I've ever had in the Philippines. The pasta was way overcooked, the sauce was greatly over salted and tasteless. Place setting included one paper tissue. High prices and cost cutting seemed to be the overriding goals of Olives. One other issue with Olives was inappropriate music playing at deafening volume.
The resort charges a "corkage fee" for food ordered from outside the complex. Pay it!
In summary, this place is expensive and poorly managed. The only staff available to talk to are young and inexperienced. No one appears to be supervising what is happening around the property. All guest services appear to consider cost before service.
I won't be returning.

- Librada (3/5): Front desk service was soo poor I was double charge on my card becouse they don’t know what they are -
- 883khut (4/5): First and last visit at Thunderbird resort - A) they charge you if you have food delivered at the front desk to be delivered to your room.
B) breakfast hot buffet is cold
C) room has no table for coffee or snacks
D) no hand towels provided
E) no rack for hand towels
F) hair blower not working properly
- Dungo (8/5): Very good -

- Faithful (5/5): Passable -
- Arthur (10/5): Looking forward to my next stay - The breakfast was excellent, you have to remind yourself to tell the wait staff exactly how you want your eggs! They don’t offer early check in! Which is another way to offer something no one else in the area is doing.
- Madeleine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Francisco (4/5): Not accommodating staff and service is not good. - mountain view, pool, normal facility Customer service not good, food is not worth for the price for the breakfast meal. low class breakfast buffet not suitable for family especially for kids. Front desk are not customer oriented. Not recommendable for family leisure.
- Kathleen (4/5): It feels expensive for the kind of stay we experienced. It's almost like we rented an AirBnB. - - The view of the whole compound is fantastic.
- We liked the new swimming pool and the aesthetics of the new rooms. - I booked for a room with balcony but our didn't have one.
- I called for housekeeping but when we got back to our room, it's still where it is. I had to call for the second time and they just removed the trash.
- My husband asked for a cup replacement so we could drink coffee and drink water on our second day in the room but the staff said it's not replaceable. There were no dishwashing liquid and sponge, so how are we going to use them? If it's a longer stay, they really would not replace it?
- The playground for kids weren't maintained.
- Not much option for breakfast.
- Chona (10/5): - All the staff were courteous. The room I got at the villa was spacious & very comfortable. Loved the huge pool. The breakfast buffet was excellent but it would be nice to have a couple more dishes to choose.
- 666larsh (2/5): So Disappointed - Stayed here many times before and it was great, always loved it and now I have come back to the most messed up place you can imagine.
Let me explain, as a resident you can only now use the newer casino pool, ok I hear you say, so what? Well the smaller older pool is now only available to day guests and non resident. This is where the bar and restaurant are. There is nothing at the new pool you can only order water and chips pool side there. So if you enjoy the warm weather and water of the neqer pool and you want something to eat or drink as a resident you can only do it in your room. How is this possible, where is the sense in this especially as I have a house locally and could have come as a day guest, enjoyed the older and in my opinion better pool, had a drink and food by the pool and listened to music all at a much reduced cost. None of these options are available to you if you actually pay to stay the night.
The staff are still great and it's not their fault they are just following ludicrous guidelines set up their management team.
Sorry as I always said I loved this place but absolutely no point in coming back under these circumstances
- DevsD4 (4/5): Disappointed, Unmaintained resort - The place is beautiful, however:
1. These mess outside our room were not ours, these mess were already here when we checked in (around 3:30pm) so i thought maybe the staff didn’t cleared it up yet. We took a dip in their pool and also had our dinner but when we went back around 8pm and these mess were still here so i called the front desk to report and said they will clear it up. The next day when i woke up and went out of room around 6am, these were still there untouched. What a sight.
2. Only one pool was open, the other pool near olives resto still closed, we went here last feb 2021 so this was our 2nd time here and the last time we went here only one pool can be used. So i think they have not opened the other pool since then. The closed pool still have water in it full of tadpoles.
3. Upon checking in, we were told of the policies. Front desk told us that we cannot park inside near the villas we need to park at their designated parking areas which is a few hundred walk away and we did not mind since it’s their policy. But when we went to our designated villa we saw so many vehicles were parked inside. We asked the guard if we can also park inside since there were vehicles that were parked when they say it’s not allowed, the guard just told me that they have already reported it to the management since there were also other guests complaining but the management did not do anything about it. Disappointing coz they dont stick with their rules/policies.
4. Garden of tulips already gone.
5. The play ground was not maintained, see saw already broken. Grass unkempt.
- clarizze (2/5): - Looks really old and not maintained well. The price is too high for the quality. Buffet breakfast was disappointing and the pool was dirty.
- RuwSventusx (10/5): I am gonna swing from the chandelier - A very nice place to celebrate events though its very farm from the city, you will not regret going here because the place is very nice. Though we have not experienced the orher amenities because we were just here for one day and did not spend the night there, we enjoyed the function hall or events center. The chandeliers are one of the caprivating things and can never forget. It makes me want to sing chandelier. But yeah, i am hoping someday to spend a day at this place with my loved ones.
- jasht2015 (6/5): UNKEMPT BEAUTY - A family vacation after lockdown in 2020 and another locdown on 2nd trimester of 2021. Our grown up kids are excited and up for some fresh getaway. I fell in love with the photos of the place on website so I decided to book 3days 2nights accommodation. Pristine swimming pool, nice garden, rooms and resto inside the the villa compound which is separately gated. When we got to the area, there was first gate at the end of Col. Guido St., which I guess the main gate (east ridge) of the entire property. They asked where are were going. I showed our itinerary and we were asked to leave an ID but we weren't given any gate pass. (which they can deny that we left an ID )moving on, upon arriving at the thunderbird compound, another security guard stop us for some protocols and accommodation details. Again we were asked to leave an ID. We were scrambling to find another ID because my husband doesn't want to leave his drivers license. Upon entering the property we notice how far the front desk office from the rows of villas.
The huge pool and Garden area was close to the gated villas that has adjacent gate going to the casino. upon check in, IATF protocol is being implemented inside the bldg. which made me feel secured.
They accept card payment but just make sure to keep cash at hand because they require cash deposit of Php2000 they don't accept credit card hold/deposit for incidentals.
The main swimming pool facing city view was close. While we are waiting for the availability of our room we had lunch at Olives resto next to the front desk bldg.
My kids are happy for the food pizza, pasta, chicken fish fillet and the cocktails.
We travel a lot and we love to dine in. We appreciate different cuisines so I can say Olive's food are tasty and descent, except for the free food that comes with the accommodation, also the breakfast was sad. I guess those are from different resto.
The day we arrived July 09 Friday until the next whole day the manager on duty and its staff at Olives are very accommodating specially during the birthday dinner at the resto.
We were asked to wear face shield on top of our face mask during breakfast whenever we get close to the buffet table. But I notice the manager and staff the fallowing day, (3rd Day) was not keen on the protocols. I saw guest on buffet table not wearing their face shield some guest are wearing face mask down to their chin. I call the attention of the manager but I don't see him implementing it up until we left. I end up cutting short our breakfast and gone back to our villa.
Swimming pool close to the main villa is huge water is a bit hazy and some part of the pool floor was slippery (under the water). The pool is beautiful and huge though so social distancing is well observed. When we left we went back to the same gate (east ridge) where we left our ID the first time. The guard on duty (which is different from the guard who took my husbands ID when we get in) tried to find the ID. After looking around he said ID was no longer there. He said maybe it was already turned over to their office which is unfortunately close on Sundays. so meaning to say, we need to comeback the next day just to go to their office and get the ID back. From Las PInas to Rizal. I got so confused so I went down of the car a man who seems like their manager, explained in a very arrogant way how their protocol goes and their policy. I guess if anyone wish to go this route for a vacation you must ask the hotel beforehand about this gate policy and collecting ID without gate pass to avoid this kind and unnecessary inconvenience. Again this is the Eastridge gate. First gate before the Thunderbird gate.
- C4978ERrichardm (6/5): Just okay, nothing special - Before even getting there if you travel soon the road from Bitucan to Taytay is under repair and going there you will encounter one lane on a broken up road. We got a promo for 5K per night Premium room that was not premium with meals. The meals were fair and breakfast was just okay. The archery and paint ball range is closed due to a storm last year. The place is lush but the landscape was not taken cared for when we arrived. The golf course looked great. The main pool was good but the pool near the Olive resto was not available. When you get to the Eastridge gate they will hold your ID. Make sure you tell them when you plan to return so they don't turn it in to their office. They seem to have a very limited staff and when I called housekeeping, room service or the front desk it's hard to get someone to pick up. I ended up walking over several times to get help. In my opinion they are not ready to fully open. The casino was very small with lots of machines turned off and the live tables upstairs was roped off. The only reason we tried this place is because of the volcano in Taal. Maybe I Should have gambled with the volcano instead of the Thunderbird. One last thing I wish to say is that the road from Col. Guido to the resort is super steep. I was worried that when I go back down the hill my car my slide off the road due to the rain. I'm not an engineer but I know that the grade is over when is considered standard (which I believe is about 12 percent grade). I would not be surprised if it was double that.
- shinegutierez (10/5): Relaxing place - Me and my husband celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary here at thunderbird rizal, we had a great stay! The foods are great also at olive's restaurant, the staffs are friendly. Very relaxing and sobrang perfect sa couples like us ang view, fresh air and para kaming nasa tagaytay :)
- arthur_arana (4/5): New Year: One-Night Only - We booked this resort for one and only reason: to enjoy its Majestic Fireworks as advertised. And there were no fireworks! We were not informed until I asked the waiter at around 11pm! We were so disappointed - its website and FB page are still showing it. Where’s the truth in advertising?
Media Noche from 7pm to 1am was another joke. It was simply a buffet dinner with very limited choices. We thought there will be some finger food or some refreshments or just coffee until 1am. Haha.
Raffle - at least we won a minor item. Thanks!
This is the only resort that requires all the personal details of my family members. We need to manually fill-out one registration page for each accompanying family member! This is a first!
Reception staff - not so welcoming.
Restaurant staff - very accommodating. Food choices should be improved.
The initial room assigned to us was the farthest! The room key cards didn’t work I had to call housekeeping to help. Thankfully, he advised that I demand to be transferred to a room at a better location.
Overall, for the price we paid and the occasion, this is below expectations.
- Lourdes (8/5): The place is presentable - I recommend the place, it is clean
- fayetrixie (2/5): Worst staffs ever! - I like the property but the staff are really inhospitable. Specially the receptionist, the manager of their restaurant and the waitress/waiters are really untrained.
Here’s the story
We booked 10 rooms junior suites for 10 days because my wedding location is near in Thunderbird and also they have golf course. I also booked a dinner buffet for my birthday party for 40 pax Php 980 per person.
First day, my whole family (15 persons) from the Netherlands came from airport to thunderbird travel time was 3hrs because of the traffic. We arrived 9 in the evening. We directly went to the restaurant to eat because we were so hungry ( Netherlands to Manila ETA 21hrs flight) we ordered 15 pizzas, after 1hr the waiter came “Sir we don’t have a dough anymore so no pizza” we were sitting for like 1hr waiting for nothing. We talked to the manager he said that because there’s a wedding in their hotel that is why they don’t have much supplies. Like seriously? We’re also a guests!! After 2hrs of waiting the pizza came but only 3 pieces, how could we eat the pizza we are 15 people and only 3 pizzas came!
The next day my birthday dinner, I booked 3 rooms for my friends because thunderbird is really far away its almost at the top of the mountain. It’s written to their website junior suites ( 2 beds ) are fit for 4 persons. I have 12 friends. The receptionist names Franz, he told me that the room is only fit for two people, and I have to pay per head for the additional person which is 2500php. I was like, I am paying for the room not per person. The room was really big and it has king size bed and 45 square meters big. So how came 4 person are not fit in 2 king sizes bed?! Seriously Thunderbird resorts they just want our money because they know that we are not from Manila. They charge everything. Specially the shuttle, it is for free but they want us to pay php2000 pesos going to the desired location and another php2000 going back to hotel. If the owner of thunderbird reading this review, oh please fire all those people who destroying the image of your resorts. You have a really nice resort but your staffs are really untrained and unfriendly. Overall our stay in Thunderbird was a totally disaster we didn’t even expect that our budget for the hotel is going to be double because of those greedy people. If I were you don’t book in this hotel, better stay some part in Manila not in Thunderbird.
We also found a dead frog inside the room!!! 😭😭 and few cockroaches 😢😢😢
- joannagivemehope (6/5): Good view with A "BUTs" - My friend booked for 5 rooms, we were at rm110 last Feb 8. We used the same room where the make up artist prepared. Room are old I guest, coz the wood floors needs to repair and the rm115 where the 2 newly wed stayed, the wood floor has damaged. I will not Retaliate everything coz I know they know what I am talking about. My other fren ask for toothbrush Rm 109 but they said it has an extra charge. On my point of view, u can give the xtra toothbrush at the vacant room coz it was 5 suites booked but we only occupied 4rooms. Receptionist are not that friendly, not even bother ask how was our stay or experienced. Its my first stay at Thunderbird. When we had our bfast at Olives food is ok.but sevice is poor as well, how can a waiter just flip the placemat ONLY infront of us instead of wiping it with cloth to crumb coz we asked him to clean the table for 6person. View is good, the 1,000 tulips are very nice during the night but didn't manage to take photo coz we are tired. The pool was really tempting. Like what I've said, VIEW is relaxing. I still want to go back here, in spite of the flaws.
- sunsetchaser99 (10/5): Family haven - My family and I have been going to Thunderbird Rizal for several years now. We are serial staycationers, so to speak. We usually stay for 2 nights here. We've stayed at the old building, and recently the new one. The new villas are already at par with newer hotels in design and cleanliness. With the exception of the balcony.
The pool is large and beautiful. Our favorite employee, the poolboy/lifeguard Michael is always courteous and proactive with providing towels. The staff at the new villas are very attentive.
We actually love most of the food at Olives and Thalassa Bar. Binagoongan is what I never fail to order. There are a couple of excellent waiters there. I am in love with their breakfast buffet. I'm just a little sad abt the new corkage fee rule because I have kids. The menus aren't as inclusive yet. It would be great to have kid-friendly options like chicken fingers.
That being said, we are looking forward to the renovation of the old bldg bec it is still our vote. Rhe bathrooms are in dire need of repair. I actually spend lots of time painting on the balcony. It has a great view of the pool area, lush golf area, and the bay. Make sure to wait for sunsets here. It is to die for.
See you again Thunderbird!
- sarrajanem (6/5): nice place - super nice place but you’re not allowed to bring food and beverage inside the hotel. They Have a corcage fee, don’t worry the have a restaurant inside. but all in all we have a nice cozy stay. the view was nice, especially the 10,000 tulips. My son was so happy during our stay.
- mnerry (2/5): Avoid Thunderbird Resorts Rizal. Poorly maintained and WAY past its heyday. - - Booked multiple rooms, one of which was the Rizal Suite (supposedly the Presidential Suite). There was a half-finished BEER BOTTLE on the ground next to the suite door. When we asked the hotel staff to clean it up he said “Bayaan niyo lang ma’am” (“Leave it be, ma’am”). Wow?! The “presidential suite” had threadbare carpets, which left our soles black when walked upon. Clearly cleanliness not up to standard.
- Found it strange that the hotel rooms each had two double beds that could comfortably fit two on a bed, but on the hotel website Thunderbird insists the room capacity could only fit a total of two (!) people. Clearly a blatant attempt at getting you to book extra beds for extra charges.
- Hotel staff tampered with one of the rooms. As mentioned, we booked multiple rooms, one of which was on the ground level. When we entered the ground level room, we noticed a used glass on the side table, the bed covers in disarray, and an opened plastic of hotel slippers on the floor. Note -- in the Rizal Suite and the other room we booked, the hotel slippers were all packed and unopened when we first entered the rooms. So clearly, this ground-level room had been entered – by whom? Who else would have the key, and why do something so arrogant as drink and presumably lie down on the bed?? We immediately complained to the front desk and was told by staff FRANZ that this was a “turn-down service.” Really? Why just one room, out of the three we booked? In the many, many hotels we’ve been in, NEVER have we received a turn-down service that had staff opening amenities intended for guests and leaving used glasses on the room tables. No apologies from Franz, just pure cheekiness and attitude.
- Front deck staff did not give a checkout card on checkout, so we reached all the way to the guard post (some distance from the hotel entrance) before being asked to turn back and retrieve it from the frontdesk. Asked the guard if it was possible for him to speak to the front desk staff and verify we had checked out a mere 10 minutes ago, no flexibility.
- Late in the evening, could hear karaoke coming from the pool area. Zero discretion given to other guests by the staff – no one stopped the noisy guests.
- Asked if we could bring a plate of breakfast up to the suite because one of the guests was a BRIDE. She was already at the makeup table. Was told no, zero effort to go the extra mile. Ultimately, one of the female entourage members personally brought the breakfast over to the bride – possible pala, ayaw lang gawin (it’s possible, it’s just none of the staff wanted to do it).
Overall, a RESOUNDING NO. Poor service attitude, shabby rooms at their supposedly "best" suite, and sub-standard cleanliness. AVOID THUNDERBIRD RIZAL AT ALL COSTS, it's waaay past its heyday.
- gemlaoang (10/5): Good place for family bonding - We went there last August 25-26, 2019 and we really had an amazing holiday.
Thanks to Sir Franz Inguito for the great accommodation. Our room was upgraded and we spent most of our time there as we bond together as family.
- 10yearsold (4/5): Disappointing - Great room...shuttle service is always a plus. Aside from that, everything was subpar... From the terrible service, to the subpar recreational facilities. did not specify availability of breakfast was based on headcount, looking forward to promo deals on spa services but wasn't available... We were looking forward to a great family outing/trip but ended up having a disappointing experience
- Verified traveler (6/5): - They should improve their new rooms. They should include hair dryer, additional towels (face towels) and shelves in their shower area. Front desk should also advertise and recommend their other facilities to their guests
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Nothing good from all thing A to Z not advice any body to stay their .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Its almost desame with other resort
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Not value for money
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Plus that it’s near the metro. But during our stay, there’ no water supply for hours.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Comfortable room and nice resort, the activities were a bit disorganized or lacking
- Maria (4/5): - Disappointing. Bed sheets are very old. comforter has a big hole. my sons and I got bug bites everywhere in our body. the room needs to be updated.
- Louie (10/5): Relaxing place to stay - Staff were very friendly and courteous. Hotel amenities are good and room size is above what I have expected. Bed are comfortable and good daily housekeeping.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Location was good and room condition was ok. Personnel were not as friendly and as accommodating. They rarely smile at their guests and seldom do they make the guests feel welcome. Food service is worse and menu were not thought of...
- Bituin (10/5): Relaxing - We have fun and relaxed.. Im sure, we will be back soon..
- VCGill (6/5): Hotel with casino - Very friendly and helpful staff.
They need to remove the stains in the bathroom.
- Michael (4/5): Very disappointed. - Room was clean and comfortable. Pool is well kept up. View is nice, but that's about it. The one restaurant that is open all day has very limited menu, and what is served is mediocre and always barely warm. Breakfast gives you the option of only two choices and that also is served cold. The other restaurant and casino is only open from 10am until 2pm. Because we were there to visit with friends in town below, we were not there for lunch times so could not rate the casino or restaurant. Was hoping to enjoy some time at the casino but with it only open 4hrs a day, no time to try our luck. Not much to offer on snacks either. Most of the staff were friendly and polite but there are others that seem to walk about that appeared angry or just don't want to be there.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Food at the hotel needs improvement. - More food options. But the rooms and pool are great.
- Kim (8/5): Relaxation Getaway - Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. The room was big, very clean, the bed feels like heaven with all the pillows. Pool with a serene view. Room for improvement would be to have a covered parking.
Who knew an hour away from Manila can you find such beauty.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice place to stay for family bonding. Hotel staffs, guards , utilities are very accommodating as well as the head Chef. Superb food.
- Norman (6/5): - The hotel has good ambiance, perfect for couple bonding. Need to improve the room's door lock and this did not automatically close in fact, our room was not locked after the turndown service when we came back to the room.
- Jerrylyn (6/5): Getaway near the city - Perfect for a quick getaway for a weekend. Great place and view. Delicious food and big clean room.
The bad thing is that we can't control the AC. I have to call numerous time for them to adjust it but still not enough to make the room cooler. Only 27-24 degree. Actually having a mild asthma attack because of that. I don't know if it is just our room. But nevertheless we had fun.
