Holman (4/5): Hotel is beautiful, location great but price is very high and customer service seems to be secondary - Location and Hotel beautiful and very clean. Queen size bed advertised was the size of a full bed and small and the check-in process was very poor. The check-in process took over 20 minutes with 2 different staff members and the manager on site seemed more interested in talking with other tour group vendors than assisting the issues the new staff members were having. I also asked for an extra pillow to be taken to my room and after a staff member said they would go get one for me to place in the room they were gone in excess of 10 minutes and another staff member had to go get me the pillow since the first staff member was MIA.

16TheGrove (8/5): Overcharge dispute nearing resolution - Update to my review of Hotel Edgewater-- - Mr Scheffer and Ms Parson from Hotel Edgewater both kindly reached out to me regarding the dispute about the overcharge for standard rooms. After much analysis, my travel agent agrees with them that Expedia, the booking agency he used, had made the error. I'm awaiting (hoping for!) a refund from Expedia. Please ignore my earlier negative review of the hotel. I believe that the overcharge was not their fault.

ks0kie (8/5): A good hotel option in Seward - Made reservations for 2 rooms with 2 beds for 2 weekday nights for extended family less than a month before we arrived so knew our choices in Seward were limited and expensive. Overall our first floor rooms were nice, clean, quiet, and convenient. We would have preferred to have the sink in the bathroom vs just outside bathroom in the room for privacy and to avoid bothering roommate's sleep. None of us ate the buffet breakfast (about $20) as we didn't usually eat that much but no option for less like a continental. There is a nice brunch / coffee shop across the street right on the bay. It was easy to walk to Sealife Center. Parking is on the street so availability depends on time of day due to other businesses across the street.

Richard (6/5): Not a pleasant experience - Although we called a day ahead of our arrival to secure a shuttle from the train station, none came and we were left in the pouring rain to wait ½ hour for the free city shuttle. We called the hotel and no one answered. When we did arrive at the hotel, there was no one st the desk.The room was clean but there were collections of dirt caught in dust in the corners in the tiny bathroom. We were only offered a small bar of soap in the shower. At our final walk through to check for misplaced belongings, we found a nice pair of shoes behind the curtains near the corner that werent ours! We opted not to pay $20 for the breakfast buffet that was usual fare included at hotels charging half the price per night. The young man at the desk was busy on his phone when we had questions. We stayed at the Edgewater in 2015 and had a much different experience. It may have been near the end of the season, but we felt as though we were overlooked.

Georgean (9/5): The best location in all of Seward, clean, comfortable bed - It’s the perfect location with great views. The best restaurants are very close. The woman who works at the front desk is exceptional, down to earth, friendly, professional. Easy, free parking on the street. Two washers and dryers in great condition - $4 each and the dryer actually dries in less than the 45 minutes set time. The rooms are small. The bathroom is tiny with no real counter space around sink. Housekeeping is a bit slow but at least they have it daily and it’s fine well once they show up.

TCBreckenridge (10/5): Remodeled and convenient property - Nice clean and modern which separates them from other properties around. Modern hotel is such a rare gem in Alaska . Within the same price range , we were happy with our stay . Hotel also offers laundry room , breakfast buffet ($19.99+taxes ) which was convenient especially when it rains all day all night . They also have a small market corner where you can pick up some snacks and food . Safeway is only 5 mins drive away. It’s right next to a nice coastal walk ( I assume it s nice but we didnt get to experience it because of the weather ) . Selfie conservation center is right next door but they only open a few days a week and not till noon ( which didn’t work out with our schedule) . The town is very small so , on a good day , you can walk to anything from a hotel.

El precio es una exageración por lo que ofrecen.... nos dieron la habitación 115 la cual esta cerca de la maquina de hielo que hace demasiado ruido.... el aire acondicionado de la habitación es de pared y muy viejo ... hacia demasiado ruido y tuvimos que apagarlo a pesar de que teníamos mucho calor .... tuvimos que abrir la ventana para estar un poco más frescos pero hacia mucho ruido afuera.....

The only disappointing thing was having to pay almost $20 per person for breakfast, which consisted of the same thing we had at our free continental breakfast in Anchorage. The breakfast was not worth the money, so we went out to eat instead.

JurgenB435 (4/5): Very expensive for what you get - It was the only decent hotel with availability when I started organizing our trip. I understand why. The room had the smallest sink (in the room itself) that I had ever seen and the two "queensize beds" were about 120 cm wide, so sleeping with two adults in one was rather impossible. Breakfast was a hefty supplement. On the other hand the front desk staff was really very helpful and friendly, and location is good. Free parking enough there.

Diana Michelle (8/5): Hotel was fine for what we needed - We were in Seward for two night. The hotel was clean, and the lobby/common areas were updated. The hotel was within walking or driving distance to many restaurants and shops. Sink area/bathroom were very small. The toilet in the room would not flush the first morning we were there. I tried to call the front desk, but the phone in our room did not work. My friend went down to the desk and told the lady. She said that she would send someone to the room to fix the toilet. About an hour later, no one had been to the room to fix the toilet. I went back to the front desk. The lady (very young) told me that the maintenance workers were not at work yet. I told her that no one told my friend that when she came down a hour prior to this conversation. I asked her if she would ask a maintenance worker to come straight to our room when he arrived. She basically said that she did not know, but she would tell him after he clocked in. I told her that the phone in the room did not work either. We had to get dressed and use the bathroom downstairs. Seemed a little crazy with us paying WELL over $400 a night. A maintenance worker did come a little while after the time she told me that he would arrive at work. He was very nice. He said that he would look at getting us a working phone. I don't know if he did or not. There is a breakfast, but it was not included with the stay. It was $19.95 plus tax per person. It was DEFINITELY NOT worth that. The ladies working the breakfast room were very nice and friendly. Both juice options were SIGNIFICANTLY watered down. It was just like a continently breakfast that would be included with the stay at other hotels. The bacon was good. We booked this hotel late, so there were not a ton of options left. The hotel was fine, but VERY expensive for what was offered. There is no where to pull up and unload. You have to find street parking. I had to park a ways away from the front of the hotel. The lady at the front desk said that there is a parking lot, but on the map, it looked even further away than where I parked. The workers at the front desk were young, and they were fine, but not overly friendly.

789kc (10/5): Fabulous experience at the Edgewater Hotel - Did you know that when you arrive by train your luggage is delivered directly to the hotel? This impressed us so much. A beautiful hotel met by our driver, Barak, who spoke like an ambassador about their property and the town of Seward. So proud and such positive energy. Flexible, helpful, gorgeous location with a stunning view of the bay. His care for us makes the difference between a good place to stay and a great place to stay. All staff we so helpful. We also had the most perfect weather. Sunny all day and high 60’s. Thank you Edgewater staff for providing such a welcoming and comfortable place to vacation.

Footlocker sized closet-3 hangers. Breakfast expensive. Couldn’t just get a yogurt without paying for a whole breakfast. Staff, if someone was around, was unhelpful and inattentive.

Close to the SeaLife Center and a walking path by the water provided great views and even wildlife sightings of seals and an eagle!! Our room was very quiet at night. We would recommend staying at the Edgewater Hotel !

It is easy to walk to the Alaska Sealife Center and to all of the downtown shops and restaurants, plus the shuttle picks up in front of the Sealife Center if you want to go anywhere else. The parking was free but there is no lot at the hotel - street parking near the hotel is available plus two small lots down the block. Parking was not an issue during my stay.

jocelynmN9708PM (2/5): **Stay away from Hotel Edgewater** - I’m writing this to warn other travelers about some serious issues here. First and most importantly - if you have food allergies, DO NOT eat at their breakfast buffet. They refill name-brand bottles (Heinz, Log Cabin syrup, etc.) with generic products, so what you see isn’t what you’re getting. This could be dangerous for anyone with dietary restrictions. The customer service was absolutely terrible. I booked through Expedia and confirmed my dates multiple times over the phone. When I arrived for my late check-in, they claimed my reservation was for different dates. Even though Expedia was willing to fix it, the front desk refused to make any changes without a manager - and surprise, we were told no manager was ever available. They forced me to book a third night at full price, promising management would sort it out the next day. After talking to three supervisors, the GM, and the owner (Paulette), their “solution” was refunding only $300 of the $500 I originally paid. The attitudes from management were absolutely appalling. Neither the GM nor Paulette ever apologized for the mess they created. When I explained the refund didn’t cover what I actually paid for, Paulette basically told me she didn’t know what I expected her to do since she’d already given me $300 back. She then blamed her “new staff” for the problems. Even worse, she admitted the reason no rooms were available at my original rate on Friday was because they didn’t have clean rooms ready - which is a housekeeping failure, not my fault. The GM was also unprofessional, telling me I would “never get the chance to speak with Paulette personally” and that I’d only hear from her directly. Obviously that was wrong since I made sure to speak with Paulette myself. Come to find out, I had ridden in the elevator with her the morning these issues were supposed to be rectified. She had known of the issue since we arrived on Friday night yet pretended she had never heard of the situation nor met me before. The whole place feels mismanaged and the staff seem stressed because management won’t take responsibility when problems arise. Honestly, there are so many better hotels out there. Don’t waste your money or risk your health here. Please see attached photo of the signed document at the front desk for employees to understand their new rules. All I asked was that I was compensated for the difference in value of the rooms due to their shortcomings.

With in walking distance of restaurants and sights. Our friends room had a beautiful view of Resurrection Bay. I would like to come back and spend a day or two more.

KandJ_Alaska (10/5): Excellent Customer Service, Great Location - As Anchorage residents with out-of-town Family visiting, Seward is always a great location to visit. We had booked a week-long accommodation with the Hotel Seward, a sister property to the Hotel Edgewater. Unfortunately, there were some issues with our understanding of the accommodations. We spoke with Management and they were extremely accommodating to our needs. Within minutes, Management listened to our needs, walked with us from one property to the other, provided reasonable options including refunding us completely or providing rooms at the Hotel Edgewater. They were able to provide us adjacent rooms for our Family making for a wonderful experience. The rooms were new and modern feeling, quiet and clean. The balconies were adjoining so we could look out at the views together. The Hotel provides great service and all the staff we interacted with were so kind and helpful. The shuttle helped us multiple times, and the front desk was always attentive to request and snack purchases. Ample options for breakfast were very welcome when it was raining and cool in the morning. The Lobby was warm and welcoming, and made for a great spot for a Family game night in front of the fireplace. The Hotel Edgewater is perfectly located in Seward within a short walk of the Alaska Sealife Center, numerous great dining options, parks, trails, shops, and so much more. We can't thank the Team at Hotel Edgewater enough for their efforts making our vacation a wonderful experience, and especially the Management team for taking personal interest in ensuring our satisfaction. We highly recommended any of their properties and Hotel Edgewater most. We will be back for sure!

Super helpful explaining the street parking and recommending food options. And helped us with a room preference as well. This was a great stay.

I would give an excellent rating except for breakfast. The first day we ate yogurt and fruit for free, and saw no signs about breakfast NOT being included. The second day we selected eggs and sausage, and were told AFTER we were seated with our food that we needed a breakfast voucher which was available at the front desk. The voucher cost $19.95!! Totally NOT worth that price! When I investigated further, I found a 2x4 inch text box in the center of a 4 foot sign that stated a Full breakfast was available for $19.95. Seemed a bit shady.
Jane (10/5): Charming hotel experience - Seward is a charming town. We were there for a cruise and needed only one night. Hotel was nice. Nice location with some small shops and restaurants nearby. Lovely walking trail along the water.
