- stanley (10/5): - When checking in we were way early. But luggage storage and frozen fish storage were great options. Instead of wondering around desk clerk offer an upgrade to be able to check in early. A room was available and we were able to relax and enjoy Kodiak City at our leisure.

- Peter (6/5): - Everything in Kodiak is expensive in the summer, of course, but $300 a night for a hotel at this level is a bit shocking. That aside, our only real complaint is that some of the rooms, including ours, cannot be reached without using stairs. We had two weeks worth of luggage with us to drag up the stairs. And then down again when we checked out. So that was a bit of a hassle.

The ceiling fan/light used a strange controller that did not seem to work and there were no instructions for it. The bar and restaurant staff were excellent, but reception not so much. Location was good for me. Overall, way too expensive for what you got.
- Linda (6/5): - Kodiak is our home. We were born there. The KI uses to be tjw supreme place to stay. The room we were assigned was way at the end of the back building, which was hot at night, dispite a nice ceiling fan, opening the window helped. Customer service was great. When asked, cleaning staff were curtious and cleaned tje room for us. Definitely not a big city facility but okay.

- Jill (6/5): Nothing special but accommodations were ok - With not to many options on Kodiak to stay, this was fine. Definitely outdated and could use some improvements for what how much they charge but it had the basics...clean, quiet, comfortable beds. Check-in was quick and you can walk to the liquor store and nearby restaurants (Henri's was very good) but otherwise...it is difficult to get around town without Uber and very limited taxi service. They have a restaurant onsite also that served a nice breakfast and dinner with a great view of the marina.

They charge $75 if you want to checkin before 230pm and the shuttle only runs to the airport for the Alaska Airlines flights. It is convenient to the harbor area. I would stay again if I were coming in to fish or fly out to another location the next day.

Food at the restaurant was mediocre, evening service was always slow and the servers were horrible. Breakfast items had little variation and serving staff never smiled - they actually looked angry every morning we ate in there. Front desk staff were great and always had a smile. We would recommend staying at this hotel for the room but would encourage different place to eat.

The restaurant was the biggest letdown — my steak was overcooked, they were out of mashed potatoes, and I was served plain steamed rice instead of the pilaf I ordered. and the cook said it was rice pilaf. The waitress was nice, but the cook clearly needs retraining. Not what I expected from a Best Western.

- William (8/5): - Pros: Checking in was smooth (Expedia was only $7 cheaper than the standard hotel rate), and staff was very friendly. Continental Breakfast offered a large variety of items and the staff there was very quick to refill items. Cons: Key cards kept deactivating after several hours. No heat in hotel room and bathroom sink drain wouldn’t open all the way. I have knowledge in home/building maintenance so I was able to turn the heat on by manually opening the zone valve on the baseboard heater (the manual thermostat was not functioning). And I was able to pry open the sink drain just enough to allow water to drain at a medium speed.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Good place to launch an adventure - Kodiak Inn is always a great launch to your Kodiak adventure. A convenient hotel shuttle runs when AK Airlines flies bringing you and your gear to the hotel. The included breakfast is a great perk as well.
- TravelingEgr (8/5): Solid hotel, Tim is great! - Great location, and some excellent staff. I arrived on Christmas Day and stopped by in the morning to ask a few questions. The first clerk was fairly dismissive, and I was concerned about my stay. Later in the day, I came back to check in, and Tim was on the front desk- he did a fabulous job checking me in and answering my questions. Tim is a highlight at this hotel. Room was pleasant with a nice view of the harbor. Parking is uncomfortable- maneuverability is low. But there were enough spots. Breakfast was hearty.

Their Burger&Brew night was a bargain and my burger was cooked to perfection! The included breakfast was average but on a par with other Best Westerns. Comfortable bed, great location and gave me what I needed!

Had to make a last minute change- no problem they said. Stored deer meat in walk in freezer- very handy. Access to downtown and the harbor is convenient. Room was adequate and clean. Temp just right.

- msemp (8/5): Good Kodiak option. - You basically have 2 hotel options in Kodiak - this one was recommended to me since it’s “downtown.” It’s dated, for lack of a better word the common areas are a little dingy (but not dirty, just old), and it’s a weird layout with some rooms being inside and some accessible from the outside. That being said the room was clean, the heat worked well, I liked having a ceiling fan and the provided breakfast was pretty good. I also liked that there were actually a bunch of restaurant options within walking distance, and the Safeway and Walmart were about a 5-minute drive. I was training with the Coast Guard while I was there, so the hotel by the airport would have been much closer, but I quickly realized that staying in town and driving the 15min from town back was definitely the better option. If you’re looking for a 4-seasons experience you’ll be disappointed. But for Kodiak, AK I was pleasantly surprised and thus the 4th star.

- Jason (4/5): Just OK & under construction - Hotel was currently under construction/renovation however, continued to book rooms on floors with no carpet in hallways and construction debris and noise.

- Kristen (8/5): - The staff were great and the property was fine. Our room was clean and maintained. The included breakfast was pretty good too. Definitely worked for us before and after our hunting trip. We will be staying here again.

The rooms are clean but you’ll find scrapes and chips and caulking that could use fixing. Having a decent in-house dinner restaurant is a major plus for me since I’m just traveling through.

- Trek54828634617 (10/5): EXCELLENT HOTEL BY HARBOR - Excellent stay in Kodiak at this hotel. Room was spotless & bed/pillows super comfortable. Nice to have a refrigerator for leftovers. Within walking distance of downtown, harbor, restaurants, banks, museum, stores, etc. I will definitely stay again!
- warnerh687 (10/5): Overnight in Kodiak - My group of fishing buddies stayed here on our way home from fishing in Raspberry Island. The rooms were very clean and the bartender (Blanca) was very nice. The food at the restaurant was also very good. They also have freezer space for guests fish.

When we first got there, the room was hot and the thermostat was stuck on, also there was no screen on the window and we were close to the ground, so if we opened the window someone could come in the window if they wanted. We told the front desk, so we went out and came back, and our door was left open, they did put a screen on the window, but now the heat didn't work at all, and it was pretty cold out (probably 30's or 40's at night). Luckily there was a plug-in heater in the closet which we used. We told the front desk and they basically ignored us. So the next people in that room would have to deal with the same thing.

Trip advisor will not let me stop my review so have to write more even though I’d like to stop. Room was very hot staff could not control the heat so we were moved to another room which was very nice

The carpet outside the bathroom was soaking wet upon arrival and throughout our stay. It would have been nice if sack breakfasts were available for people using the 5:10am airport shuttle.

- 619nate (8/5): Best hotel in area - The food quality in the restaurant was very good. The views were wonderful. Amenities of hotel are probably one of the best in area. Unfortunately, as a minority customer, I was sneered at and eyes rolled at me from more than one serving staff. They should know better and keep their prejudices in check. As a Caucasian-minority couple, it was very obvious I was treated differently. Sad that I felt this way during a nice dinner.

- 907HMS (2/5): Pay more for another place - Old, smelly building, Loud neighbors above us fighting from 11pm to the morning-which we reported to the front desk and they did nothing about it because it continued happening for the 2 days we were there.Heating system did not work. They did move our room but then we had to deal with the loud neighbors. The one good thing was the breakfast, however the staff started putting food away 15 minutes before it was supposed to be put away. Pay more for the Compass hotel!

- X1094UXjenniferg (4/5): Mediocre - I was not impressed with this hotel. My first night there, the heater didn't work and after back and forth with the front desk, I had to move to a new room. The next evening, the card for my new room didn't work so when I went to get it fixed, I asked what might have happened and the front desk clerk got very snippy and snark and said "well, it probably wasn't programmed correctly." I didn't say anything - just let it go. The breakfast was mediocre - rubber eggs do not do it for me. And the hot water they had for hot tea was coffee flavored. So my "complimentary" breakfast for the week was an English muffin. I know it is Kodiak and a rocky island, but the parking is terrible. That was manageable until the morning I came out to go to work and the hotel shuttle was parked so close the driver side of my vehicle that I had to climb in the passenger door to get in. The last day - I was taking my luggage out to the vehicle and accidently left my card in the room. Stopped and got a new one so I could get my remaining items. It didn't work. Went back to front desk. Got it reprogrammed. Still didn't work. Went back to front desk. Got it reprogrammed. Went back to front desk. Was pretty upset at this point. She had been programming it for the wrong room number! Be warned...the fitness center is across the street. I didn't go use it, but I know a lot of people do so I just want to make sure you realize where it actually is. Also, be aware, the elevator only goes to second floor and PART of the third floor. I, of course, was in the part that didn't have elevator access. So be prepared for the possibility of hauling your luggage up and down stairs. Lastly, while the hotel was pretty clean and quiet, it is obviously getting very tired and in serious need of an update.

- JohnH375 (10/5): A little worn, but still a great hotel. - We always stay here when we go to Kodiak. My first stay was in 1973. Some of the rooms could use a little updating. This trip was a little weird because the weather was bad (blowing 40 mph) and we had to adjust our trip out hunting. The hotel was really accommodating of our schedule changes. Breakfast was great. They have a nice storage room and a large walk in freezer for fish or game. Staff members were very nice and helpful. Location is very good. Would definitely stay again.
