Guest Reviews
- James (8/5): - All day biscuits and coffee was a nice touch and was handy when you needed a break from waking around in the heat. Rooms are reasonably sized. Try to get a room away from the road otherwise you'll be listening to the trishaws until midnight.
- TKWong (8/5): - Overall satisfied with our stay . Especially the 24 hour complimentary toast & coffee 😀. Near to Jonker Walk.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We had a room at the back next to the kitchen. The sounds from the kitchen making breakfast at 6am were very loud. The room had no windows and smelled like mould. The step up to the toilet was done with two loose bricks, quite the trip hazard!
Staff was very nice, gave us mosquito spray to use and directions to the best restaurant we ate at in Malacca. Good coffee machine, great breakfast and a nice little area to sit and read.
- Ngoc Duc (10/5): Location - The location is very near night market and center. It is very good. The receiptionist is so friendly and nice
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room condition was questionable, air conditioner had a few point machine attached to it which beep constantly throughout the night, very annoying. Bathroom and toilet lights were broken.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel is in a good location, it has all day free tea coffee, cereal, biscuits and toast. The room and bedding were clean. Little dark and plain, it has air conditioning and a fan, both are required to keep the temp down. Mosquitoes are and issue though, it too hot to cover yourself with bedding and if you don’t you get bitten to death! Lots of insect repellent req.
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Jia (10/5): Highly recommended - Very good and personalised hotel. Nice homey breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): - If outside the bathroom fix a full length mirror will be the best.very good location for Jonker street night market.
- Seah (4/5): Great location, nice staff. - Smooth checking in and out. Staff are friendly and helpful. Location is the best :next to night market.
- SeanAun (8/5): - Good location
- ken (8/5): Good location - The staff of the hotel (Mr Nazir) was excellent in checking us in ...
Very kind and courteous..
The room was very clean, (Room 6) but the aircon was quite noisy, noisy enough to disturb an otherwise peaceful sleep. The pillows were too high n a bit of a pain to d neck.
All other amenities, like hot shower, continuous supply if coffee tea , cookies etc etc was par excellent.
Worth every dollar spent on this hotel...
- leigh (10/5): Good central location. - Good location with friendly staff helpful booking further transport and printing. Aircon leaked. Breakfast yummy and good variety. Free help yourself coffee juice and snacks were so nice was a great positive place to be
- AXKIN (10/5): Good - Safe and tidy area .
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great stay - It was great staying at Hotel Da Som Inn. It's a very short walk to Jonker Street and there's a famous dim sum shop just 2 units away.
I requested for the staff to decorate the room as it was near my fiance's birthday. The staff did a great job in decorating the room.
There is also free flow drinks 24/7.
However, we were unable to receive wifi in our room and have to go to the recept area to tap on wifi.
We will like to thank the staff for the memorable stay. Thank you!
- Kati (10/5): Great staff, good location! - We had the most pleasant stay at Da Som Inn. Staff was extremely nice and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Good breakfast + complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits throughout the day. Nice clean rooms, although a bit worn out. Highly recommended!
- PEI CHI (10/5): -
- Nur Atiqah (10/5): Highly recommend! - Took a Grab to this place and driver was able to locate as it was opposite a Mosque. Entrance was recognizable too. Great location as it was walking distance to all eating outlets and night market. It was evident the condition of the rooms were well maintained. toilets clean. Warm welcome from the staff and complementary breakfast and refreshments. Has a comfortable ambiance to chill in after a day of exploring.
- Tan (2/5): Bed bug infestation and terrible staff attitude - We selected this hotel because of the good reviews and the location. However, we were severely disappointed. Within an hour of going to bed, I woke up to find bites on my body. It was past midnight, and I went out to look for staff to get insect repellent and medication, thinking that it was mosquito bites. I found Mr Tan, whom I believe is the proprietor, and showed him the bites. He said it was not mosquito bites, and handed me some bug spray. I returned to the room, where I then found bed bugs crawling on my bed and my friend's bed. I woke her up and we killed two bed bugs, which had blood when we killed them. Mr Tan returned to our room and I showed him the bed bugs. He offered to take us to another room. As it was really late, we didn't think we could find another hotel. We didn't see any bed bugs in the new room, but we couldn't sleep from worrying about the bed bugs and the bites were really itchy and swollen. Early next morning, we checked out (even though we had booked a two-night stay), as we wanted to find a hotel that was bed bug free for a peace of mind. We expressed our concern that bed bugs can spread really easily, but Mr Tan was very blase about the bed bugs. He said that if we were frequent travellers, we would be used to it. I asked for a receipt to show that I checked out early, but was denied it. I was told to contact Expedia for all my queries since I booked through Expedia. Fortunately, the amazing staff at Expedia were really helpful and understanding.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location. - The hotel is located in the center, good location to walk to the popular restaurants and night market. The receptionist and owner are helpful and friendly, but housekeeper is not. When I was in room and found the rest room with much dirty, ask him to clean , I recieved the bad manner, he frown his face and impolite reaction to the guests.
- Pamela (8/5): Amazing Hospitality - My husband and I had booked a last minute trip up to Malacca and we got possibly the last room at Da Som Inn. We arrived way earlier than expected but the host was so gracious to allow us to check into our room. The room was simple but very clean. The entire hospitality team were so forthcoming from providing directions to recommendations and even provided ironing. The breakfast was a delight with cooked Asian dishes along with toast, eggs and hash potatoes. They provide coffee & biscuits 24/7 if you are feeling peckish. The location is spot on! you can walk all the way from Jonker Street - Christ Church - St Paul's Church and A'famosa in 30 to 40mins. Just perfect! #hoteldasominn
- Emily (6/5): Bad cleanliness - The bathroom has urine smell ..
The fridge smell of dead rats
- jp (8/5): Très bien situé - Très bien placé,au calme
personnel toujours présent, serviable et attentionné
Bon petit déjeuner
- Taylor Ian (10/5): - Amazing place to stay! Awesome staff, free coffee and breakfast was good! Highly recommenf
- mohd nazry (10/5): Convenient location. - The owner and the staff were very helpful and friendly. It was a pleasant stay at Da Som Inn. 2 mins walk to Jonker Walk.
- CHAN (8/5): Will choice this inn again next time - Well location, nicely service
- JEFFREY (8/5): A Place called Home - Great stay with good host Mr Terrance who will ensure your stay is comfortable and will assist you on your request.
- chu (8/5): NICE - FRIENDLY STAFF,GOOND IN SERVICES, CLEAN & GOOD LOCATION
- Alvin (8/5): - Other than the air conditioning which wasn't cold enough even at the lowest setting especially when the room's rather large, everything else was pretty decent. Breakfast consists of simple fare like eggs, hashbrown, toast and fried rice. Coffee/tea is free flow!
- Jasmine (10/5): Excellent service and friendly staff - Excellent staff - extremely friendly and genuinely interested in their guests, very knowledgeable about local attractions & restaurants, will go over and beyond to be helpful. Very clean, comfortable air-conditioned room. Delicious varied breakfast. Only negative was that the place has fairly thin walls so prone to noise from street or discourteous neighbouring guests. Would benefit from more insulation/designated quiet times.
- Suzanne (8/5): An excellent choice for a few days - We only booked one night, but decided to stay longer. The room was a little warm during the night, but you can get a remote for the ceiling fan.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location and friendly staff - Very friendly staff. We were given a welcome drink on arrival. Room was spacious. Wifi signal and internet speed were good. Breakfast included paratha, scrambled eggs, potato wedges etc. Free tea and coffee available all day and of a good quality. Very conveniently located - 1 minute from Jonker Street. A short taxi ride (20 Ringgit per ride) to/from Melaka Sentral coach station.
- Adrian (8/5): Quaint place to relax and unwind. - Nice people run the place. Loved the local breakfast, simple but nice.only thing is that the room is very hot during the daytime. We got the roomo on the 2nd level.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommended - Great place, great location, wonderful staff, and affordable price
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great week end in Malacca - Nice welcome. The hotel is near jonker street.. The staff very nice and always present to give good tps during our stay.
- Lena (8/5): - Perfect location for a short stay, very warm staff & local food for breakfast
- Rosa Consolacion (10/5): Perfect Place to stay! - Da Som Inn is ahomey place to stay. We are happy that we stayed in this hostel. The food is good. The owner heed to our request for rice. The food were cooked with so much love that it taste good.
As for the staff they are all welcoming and accommodating. What is so important to them is their business reputation and not just business interest or profit and one thing good about this hostel is that they go out of their way to be of service to their guest.
Thank you so much Da Sim Inn we appreciatr your hard work and our respect to all of you.
MABUHAY PO KAYO!

- Lingling (10/5): Nice hotel, worth for staying - Nice hotel, kind staff and location near to jonker street. Next time we'll stay here again.
- Cheow Wee (8/5): - Very friendly uncle and staff. All staff are very Helpful. Room is clean.
The place is nice and very convenience.
- Jeniffer (8/5): Hotel owner is a great hoster - Owner provided great service. Free flow of coffee, juice and cereal. Comfortable bed with a number of pillows that I needed. Excellent hotel for a short stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Old but heritage - An old building in old town but clean and good amenities. The location is very good and the owners are gems. Very quirky but super friendly. Enjoyed my stay and would stay here again. Breakfast is simple and not overly hot but ample for a light start to the day. Don't expect a luxury hotel its not but for a pleasant stay its fantastic.
- benny (2/5): - 4.2 rating is misleading.
First it is not a hotel.
My rating is 1.2, primarily because the 4.2 rating misled me.
I wonder who they paid to get that rating. Hygiene is poor.
I could elaborate but have no time now.
- Iicy (8/5): Warm n friendly place to stay! Lively place to go - Was very pleasant with the stay. All the staffs was very friendly and well taken care of us!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Short weekend - Single night, the hotel is practical in Melaka ChinaTown. The room are very basic and old looking, although they appears clean and they have everything you need for a quite stay (airco, fan, fridge, lcd screen, private toilet with shower). The personnel is friendly. The breakfast is kind of random, foreseen from 8 to 10am, at 9 there was not that much to eat. At 10 bread arrived as well other stuff.
- Kadi (10/5): - I visited in September 2015 and enjoyed our stay. The location is good and the place is clean and looks different from major hotels. The owner was friendly and helpful :)
Thanks! I hope to revisit one day :)
- Kion Nam (8/5): First visit to Melaka with family. - This is our first visit to Melaka. This hotel has good location, most of the Melaka famous places are within walking distance especially the Jonker street which is just a street at the front. Tourist can rent a bicycle with the hotel to ride around the entire popular places.
The hotel provided unlimited free drinks eg. Various of coffees & Milo, also provided some biscuits & cereals. The breakfast are simple (scrambled eggs, sausage, & fries) & it's included in the booking.
One annoying thing is the loud Muslim praying sound from loud speakers from Masjid facing the hotel.
The price considered high (for me...hehe). It's the highest among my entire trip from Melaka, KL & Genting.
For me, any hotels with room that suit the number of ur member can be considered coz the area not that big. But i might be stay here again on my next visit of Melaka.
- Geraldine (8/5): Nice hotel - friendly hosts - +good location close to main sights
+ family run - very friendly hosts who made us feel welcomed
+ free supply of coffee
+/- hotel still(?) in renovation when we were there. Upside was that our rooms were much newer and more modern compared to the photos we saw on hotels.com
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice hotel, quick access to the town - Perfect, 2mn from the city center, staf is +++, and just in front of the mosq, very nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): very friendly staff - staff were all kind and very friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel in centre of Malacca - Lovely staff, very clean rooms, very friendly owner. Quiet street considering how close it is too noisy Jonker and Heeren Sts. Mosque across the road was not a problem noise-wise. Excellent breakfast included.
- JOHNATHAN (8/5): Excellent stay there - Pleasant Hotel Manager. Great Hospitality. Excellent location near Jonker with several the eating places of interest, eg Pin Pin Heong, East West Rendezvous within a short walk from the Hotel.
Room is pretty clean. Some mould at the corners of the bathroom and beneath the toilet seat. Aircond in the room was ok but not strong enough. we have to switch on both the fan and air conditioner. But overall, the place is a very pleasant place to stay & I would gladly and highly recommend this place to my friends
- Shuk Ming (6/5): - Not really clean
- PRISCILA (8/5): Good value, good staff - Friendly and helpful staff. Good location, comfortable rooms and free flowing coffee, tea & cookies! The hotel manager is ready to help with a smile. Hotel location is walking distance to the Jonker walk and other heritage sites. Definitely recommended to practical, fun-loving guests!
One suggestion: you may want to bring your own toiletries if you are not used to all-in-one soap/shampoo dispenser.
- lisa (10/5): Cute place, great location - Hotel is very cute. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Staff very helpful.
Great location, within walking distance to all the major sights.
Would definitely stay here again.
Only issue we had was trying to figure out how to get hot water working, but after staff helping it was fine.
Great wifi very strong.
- Jordan (10/5): Nice place near Jonker - Small and friendly place, very clean.
- Vera (10/5): Very nice. - Great little place close to everything. Very close to jonker Street. Didn't realise my private room didn't have it's own bathroom - had to use a shared one. Friendly owner. Bike rental there. Cooked breakfast and free bottled water when you arrive. Very pleasant stay.
- Ngoc Hung (6/5): Good location, clean room, nice staff - Excellent location, clean room, good service except the shared toilet is not really good.
- Eng Neo (8/5): Value for money - Hotel location is good. Owner Mr Tan and co-owner are both very friendly. Blue Mountain Cafe, which is a side business under them, also offer cheap and good food. When we stayed there, they drove us to the café from the hotel for our convenience.
- Goh (10/5): Convieient Jonkers Street accomodation. - Enjoyed homestay style. Clean room and toilet. Breakfast sufficient. Walking distance to Jonker Street. Safe ambience as guest are not roudy.
- Cat (8/5): Near to jonker street - Good, will stay there on my next trip.
only thing is quite noisy in the morning bcos mosque is just right in front of the hotel.
Other than this is perfect.
- Nancy Ann (10/5): I only have good things to saw! - I truly can not say one thing wrong about this hotel. The staff was amazing, super clean, extremely helpful, in a great location..... Seriously it was that good! They truly made you feel welcomed and treat you amazing! If ever in the area, I would definitely go back!
- Verified traveler (8/5): would go again - Simple hotel in a great location. Walking distance (5-10min) to any point of interest of the center.
