- Katherine (2/5): - Our room was swichedfrom two bdrm two bathroom to one bathrm. The two single beds innone room was so squished we had no place to leave our suitcases no closet no space they went into living room, Glad we had one. There were bugs and mosquitos everywhere yet the windows didnt open. We stayed one noght and left instead of stayong the 5 nights. Dont recommened this place until its debugged and they are truthful about reservations.

I understand Korea is very humid, but please upgrade your room, perharps have air purifier / install better ventilation in the bathroom. I really enjoyed the location (safe, quite, convenience...etc)

- Yuen-ching (10/5): - I'm really happy with our stay here. The room is clean and well equipped for people who want to stay for long. Aside from the basics, it has a full kitchen with glass stove, pot and pans, tableware for two and dishsoap, kettle, microwave, full size fridge and freezer, dining table with four chairs, air purifier. It has washer and drying rack. The place is quiet and secure. It's almost next door to Namsangol Nanok Village and short bus ride to N Seoul Tower. The staffs are friendly and helpful. They even came help with tv menu past mid-night. The daily cleaning service is great. The hotel's large backdoor three levels below the front door is an easy access to the main street and public transit. It's saves us from having to hike up the mountain. I only wish that the card access for this door is all day instead of only after 23:30.

Cleaning staff were very nice, didn't really have much to do with front staff as we took the exit on level 1 past the restaurant which avoided the front hill. Room was well sized and had a full size fridge and washing machine which was useful since I stayed a week. As the room didn't have aircon, we had the fan running whenever in the room. Communal kitchen was good with water filter and bins to separate the rubbish as opposed to having it in the room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Stay - Great value for money! Hotel needs a little renovation. Water flowing out of the bathing area even with shower curtain and also shower door. Stayed in their 2 bedroom suite with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Suited for families. Room not cramped. And going to Myeongsong area is easy, go the the 1st floor for easier access. Not really an uphill climb as others described it if you passed the correct path. I was just disappointed that they have aircon but they did not provide the remote control. I asked in my email before my stay if they have air-conditioned unit in the room, and they said yes, my mistake for not asking if I can use it. Well to compensate, they provided an electric fan instead which we used during our stay as it was getting hot. Would still recommend this hotel if you want a cheaper one but still near the shopping area. 10 minute walk to Myeongdong depending on the timing of the traffic light!

The sound proofing was poor - we could hear the people next to us, in the corridor and above us. We could also hear everyone the street (we were one level above the lobby). There were noisy people on the street past midnight. The poor sound proofing made it hard to sleep.

- Musings_MJ (10/5): Value for money serviced apartment in heart of Seoul - We stayed in a 2 bedroom deluxe apartment. The separate bedroom with 2 single beds was useful for my teenage sons who wanted their own space. It was well equipped with microwave, utensils, washing machine. You can cook but we didn't use it. The location is fantastic, 5-10 mins walk to Myeongdong, 5-10 mins walk to Chungmuro station with lots of restaurants, bakeries, convenience stores nearby. It also overlooks Namsan Park/tower. Price was very reasonable especially if you book early. The only downside is if you are coming by taxi, it is a bit difficult to drive to the entrance through the main street in heavy Seoul traffic. The taxi driver who was quite experienced, let us alight about 100 m away (at the foot of the hill where the hotel is located) to avoid going one big round to the entrance. Highly recommended for families who need more space!

- SofaOnASock1 (8/5): Special serviced apartment near Myeongdong - Stayed here for a few nights in the 1 Bedroom apartment and it was a special experience. Oriens Hotel and Residence is a hotel with some units featuring a full kitchen along with washer cum dryer. Booked direct and the room was ready upon arrival. There were some notable cultural differences. For example, I received an email from a beverage company claiming to be the "front desk". Upon reviewing the beverage company's website, there didn't appear to be an affiliation with the hotel. The front desk claims that they are part of the beverage company... The day of check-in, the property ran my credit card for my stay, signed on my behalf, issued a refund and emailed informing me that they did that to "check the validity of my card" and that I would have to pay in person. The property itself was special. The front entrance was on level 4 which was very loud at night as the windows had minimal sound proofing, perhaps cultural? The main entrance for daily in and out was via the back alley accessible from Level 1. A good chunk of the property is on lower levels which face each other. The "courtyard" may be 6 feet at most between each other, thus most rooms don't have a view. The HVAC situation is also special as no A/C is available in the winter despite the apartment getting really warm. Luckily, the windows did open to a very loud expressway offramp. The apartments on my floor were special as the door to my apartment opened outwards towards the hallway. My neighbors apartment had some type of aluminum foil-esque window covering?!? The windows in my apartment opened all the way, making it a perfect escape in case of a fire. Having the washing cum dryer machine on the covered patio was a good idea. Wifi was free and unsecured with each room having their own router. There is a dishwasher inside my apartment along with a black piece of tape covering the control panel... The HVAC system also controlled the water heater which was all in Korean. The shower featured a handheld with super narrow showerhead. The towels in my bathroom were fluffy albeit a touch thin. The mattress in the bedroom was an economy Bonnell spring mattress that moved the entire mattress whenever one side moved. This was surprising as the apartment was designed for 2 people There is a gym, shared kitchen, along with a communal paid washing machine and separate paid dryer for laundry.

Bring your own toothbrush or other toiletries as they do not provide, only the basic shampoo soap and towels. Staff are friendly. 10mins walk to myeong dong as well.
- Sendy (8/5): - Staff are friendly and we can easily communicate with the.team in English. The space is large, staying in 2 bedroom deluxe room. The living room and main bedroom are large. The second room was extremely small with 2 single beds and 1 bedside table in the centre separating the beds - the door cannot be fully opened and no where to put clothes (no where to hang or shelves), suitcases and clothes were put outside the room. The main bedroom is spacious but also needs shelves. Fortunately the road besides our main room and living space was not noisy in the morning Appreciate the washing machine (500KRW for 1x laundry pod from reception) and large clothes horse. The sofa was not soft and inviting and the back cushions easily slip and fall around. The bathroom and kitchen is definitely dated and you can see patch works on cabinetry and tub. Quick several minutes walk to Myeongdong shops. The back street to hotel has a police station on the main road and is the direction to Myeongdong and shops, as the front/reception is not easily accessible by foot. Taxi/uber drivers gets slightly confused with the GPS to front of hotel as it is complicated, but they always manage to do U turns and drive is to the front.

I am a germophobe though so I am used to taking a disinfectant wipe through all touch surfaces and I picked up a lot of dirt on touch surfaces. The bathroom seemed clean though. It is very deteriorated and needs updating. The kitchenette also needs some more detailed cleaning (we did not use it-it was only 1 night) The staff was extensive kind and helpful. The area has many restaurants and is within a 10 minute walk to the Main Street full of shopping and foodie galore. It is a strenuous walk, going up a hill and down and it must be done since there is a very dangerous highway that can’t be outrun. I’m glad it was only 1 night. I would probably compare this hotel to a US days inn? But the staff was AMAZINGLY kind.

In addition they were kind enough to help us set up transportation from the airport to the hotel. This made our arrival so much easier and pleasant. Great location to get around the city. Did have trouble finding reasonably priced meal options in the area, but that’s not on the hotel at all.
- Steven (10/5): - The room was very spacious and clean. Unfortunately, on the first night the air conditioning wasn’t working so the staff was kind enough to provide oscillating fans. This issue was resolved the following day. The living areas were open and made it feel like a home. The restrooms did appear a little outdated though. Location was great for our visit. It was easy and walkable to the majority of places we needed. If you are taking a bus to the hotel, I recommend contacting the hotel for the the best route to get to them. We used the various map apps and they made us go up a very big hill with heavy luggage which wasn’t ideal. The front desk told me how to use another easier entrance. I would stay here again and recommend to others.
- Ivy Tara Wong (10/5): Wonderful Stay At Oriens - We stayed at Oriens 2 bedroom Suite for 8 nights and it was great! The room was big equiped with kitchenette, washer & dryer function. We do hope that they will improve by having 2 bathroom instead of 1 for the 2 bedroom suite. The staff were friendly and very helpful. They assisted us to book hotel transfers and even hailed us a cab when we requested. Hotel is conveniently at Chungmu-ro station and walkin distance to Myeongdong. :) very convenient. Thank you Oriens Hotel & Residence for your assistance during our stay and you definitely made our 1st trip to Korea an enjoyable and memorable one.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Cheap but that is what we would get - I stayed for 4 nights with my daughter and a friend of mine. When I got the room card and went upstairs, the room smelled musty. When I touched the duvet, I thought it was dry, but when I sat on the bed, it was a little damp, like my pants were wet. I tried to change room, but there were one other rooms left, and to change to the one remaining room would cost me another 400,000 won, so I decided to stay. First of all, the duvet is old, a little bit tattered, and it's very heavy when you put it on. When I tried to open the window to ventilate the room, there was a long hole in the side of the mosquito net, so I couldn't open it. The next day, the hotel taped it up with clear tape. There's a washing machine, but you have to buy detergent for it, and being from a foreign country, I didn't know what kind of detergent to use. It was nice that they provided a bottled water every day. I had a hard time getting to the hotel by taxi because the drivers didn't know where the hotel was. The hotel is on the side of a mountain, so the lobby is on the fourth floor, and the back door is closer to the Chungmuro station, so we went down to the first floor and used the back door a lot. The back door is very dark at night. There are two stairs with quite a long gap between them, and it's hard to see at night. My friend went to the hospital because the rail at the end of the stairs came off and she fell. Her right ligament was torn. Luckly bones were ok.

The room was really nice, the air conditioning was on point - we didn't manage it, I think it was automatic. Not too cold, not too warm. Everything was great overall. I also want to add points for great service ! The hotel team is really nice and friendly. I lost my bank card after one day in Seoul and they directly contacted the last shop I went to. My card has been found after I left for Busan and the staff contacted me directly, and kept it safe for me. 🥹 Thank you so so much ❤️

- annecF6657XD (10/5): Awesome stay! - Stayed 7 days & 6 nights. Though this hotel do not offer breakfast, it supplied all our needs. We stayed @ the Premium Triple Rm and it got all the necessity we need for longer stay. We were able to do light cooking, do our laundry and stay comfortably. Hotel staffs were accommodating. It’s near Chungmuro station & convenient stores. Got a small food stall near the hotel that offers best bulgogi meal. Will surely come back.

- Josie (8/5): - We had three beds and two rooms with a kitchen and laundry. The laundry is small and takes a while. Not sure if this is normal for Korea. The bathroom is small but doable. But you can tell it needs to be remodeled. When you leave, you do have to walk a bit to the subway station and make sure you know there is a basement level that is an entry way. We walked uphill to the lobby and it’s actually on the 4th floor! It takes about 15 mins to walk to Myeongdong market.

- Dean (10/5): - Great things are: The front desk staff is very nice and speak English. The front desk arranged a taxi and shuttle when we needed it. Our deluxe suite 2 bedroom was very quiet, equipped with kitchen and washer/dryer. The TV was pretty good and surprisingly the Netflix worked. The housekeeper cleaned the room daily. 4 free bottles of water daily. The hotel is very close to Chungmuro subway station so one can travel from there. Close by, there is a GS25 and Emart. Walking distance to the Namsan cable car and Myungdong district. Seoul station and Lotte Mart are not far by subway. Minor quibbles: the washer/dryer took 5 hours to wash/dry the clothes. Due to use of air conditioner and washer/dryer, the circuit breaker would go off, and then the front desk staff showed us how to switch it back on, and we had to flip the switch several times. But it always switched back on. There is no restaurant or buffet in this hotel, which is not what their website says. But this wasn’t a big deal for us.

- ChillinGirl (6/5): Excellent service but moldy, dark and damp - The service is excellent and the value is very good because you are staying in a fully functioning apartment. The reason that the review is not stronger is because of the feel of the room. It is dark and damp, so it actually impacted my mood while I was there. There was a moldy smell in the bathroom that was the result of visible mold on the tiles. The tub has a drainage issue such that every way that I tried to angle the showerhead or adjust the curtain it was no use. Water flooded all over the floor and I had to dry it up with 2 bath towels. This is very likely related to the mold and general dampness, but the room actually felt like it was in a basement. I was here for a week and it had a negative impact on how I felt day to day, despite the excellent location and great service.
- Chantee (6/5): - Our stay here was just average. The location was convenient to transport and local activities. However the quality of the room and amenities was lacking. There is no sunlight as the windows were overlooking an enclosed alley nor was there any air flow other than the one fan in the kitchen. Bathroom was extremely tiny and flooded when the tub drain was released. This needs a major upgrade. Even asking staff for one additional towel to clean the wet floor resulted in two calls and a lengthy explanation.
- Kellie (10/5): Perfect stay, recommended - Everything about staying here was perfect, we did not eat in the restaurant at all so can't review that. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The 2 bedroomed apartment was better than expected, had everything we needed, it all worked perfectly, cleaners were great, beds comfortable, good shower and plenty of space. I will reccomend this place to anyone staying in Seoul. Smaller bedroom had no window and was very warm even with the air-conditioning.

Staff aided us in ordering food, and printing documents with no questions asked. The only downside is the walking to shopping area and public transport. But the price was good as a result, so I can't complain!

Cons: I stayed on the 3rd floor and accessed the 1st floor to enter/exit the hotel and oh boy those floors have that “old building” stinky smell that you would want to puke. There were hairs on the bathroom floor in my room. The female staffs at the front desk did not smile when greeting customer and when I dropped off my luggage early because I had an red eye flight, the look on their faces was displeased. However the gentleman who helped me brought my luggages to my room was cheerful and helpful.

- David (8/5): excellent service from Dani Park - Due to my flight schedule changes, I was force to stay one extra night without prearrangement, I went down to front desk and Mr. Dani Park, the sales manager, was so very helpful; he completely help me out with his professional and friendly service, big gratitude to him. Hotel location was very close to subway station Line 3 and 4, only about 4 minutes walk.(if you take airport railway to Seoul station, transfer to Line 4 and get off on Chungmuro station, which is the 3rd station from Seoul station.,) Also you can walk to Myeongdong, it's about 10 to 15 minutes walk. The room is clean and spacious, cleaning lady clean the room every day with a friendly smile. I will stay here again on my next visit.

The room was decently sized clean and offered a sink to do dishes that they offer! Hotel amenities were fine gym, laundry, etc.! NO CAP Every time I left or entered the hotel the staff(front desk) would greet you on your way in or out; They showed tons of hospitality that made me feel like I was at home felt very warming!!

- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is our second time staying here and let me tell you every time we visit we will stay here. Yes, is it a bit outdated? Definitely, but the goods outweigh this single problem. This place is located in between the Myeongdong station and the chungmoro station which you can access through their two exit and entrances. We loved using the chungmoro station as it takes us everywhere and is a literal 5 minute walk. It’s located across from our favorite hanbok place “Mimi Hanbok” and is a minute away from the bukchon village which has the best peach tea in Seoul. We also love how convenient it was from Myeongdong which we ended up in every night. The view of Namsan Tower from the rooms especially as you get on the higher floors is pleasant. This makes for those morning pictures a breeze and a good view. Now onto the room itself. The pillows and blankets are like clouds! Such a good feeling after an entire day out! Also the layout for a room that we get with two bedrooms and a kitchen area with living room is a dream and honestly the space is perfect for fitting all the luggage’s we bring. The bathroom could use a bit of an upgrade but again that’s a minor detail I overlook for all the great. The shampoo is the best that and the water make my hair feel so soft. Call me crazy but it’s true. Lastly the people who work here are so nice, helpful, and accommodating. The cleaning personnel is the best. So sweet and we never have to worry about anything!

- Alaw888 (10/5): Law - Seoul SK Nov 2019 - Overall the Oriens Hotel and Residences was a great value for it allowed the family an area to return to relax for another day of sight seeing. It is spacious and ample room to unwind compared to a standard hotel. The hotel’s location is decent and the railway system is close. The rooms were clean and even heated flooring so great on a cold night. A little learning on how to turn on the hot water system which is as needed system that takes about 5 to 10 minutes to heat up. A dining room table with 4 chairs and all the cups, plates and silverware plus dish soap. Pluses are the kitchen with a full refrigerator, Microwave oven, bottle water provided, stove, oven/toaster, dishwasher and the clothes washer and dryer as a single unit. Great for college dorms and retirement unit. Another plus is that the front desk staff even loaned a transformer unit so you can charge your electronic devices- ie phone. Breakfast was available for an additional charge. We did not eat at the hotel and ventured out to the local restaurants. Check in and checkout was very efficient. Would consider staying here again.
- Lovellynn (8/5): Corridors can be improved further. - My stay is on 02-07 Nov 19. Location is good. About 5 mins of leisure walk to Myeongdong station exit 10 & shopping district. I booked the family apartment. 2 bedrooms and a hall. Room is equipped with a kitchen too. Typically like a two room house you will see in k-drama. There is a washing machine, microwave, a full functional fridge that you can store beer/wine/fruits/vegetable and a stove with pan/cooking pot that you can cook. What turns me off is the lighting at the corridor and lift area.. It is not well lit at all and gave a rather creepy feeling whenever we come back from outside.. Other than the corridor, everything else is worth it. Price wise for apartment is reasonable and on a cheaper side too. Considering it is near Myeongdong and Namsan tower.

Pros: - great service, very friendly staff, always helpful - close to Subway, bus and taxi stops - unit we booked was perfect for 3-4 pax family Cons: - We had to wash cutleries and kitchen equipment again since they were not cleaned properly before our stay - cupboards, shelves were dirty and had oil stains from previous guests - hotel slippers were not new, they were used before - room has a window facing hotel corridor and it doesn't have a proper curtain and the corridor light goes straight in the room at night All in all it was a great fit for our family and good value for money. We would stay in this hotel again but would be nice to see some improvement at cleanliness.

There were spacious, clean and well appointed living/dining areas and 2 bedrooms. Toiletries are constantly replenished. They give you fresh towels everyday.

- Krubee (10/5): Everything is perfect at Oriens Hotel Myeondong - Picking the right hotel in Seoul is a bit challenging especially if you wanna be near the metro or famous tourist spots but we made the right decision and lucky we are - Orient Hotel & Residences located in Myeongdong near Chungmuro Metro station and Namsangol Hanok Village. As as 4 star hotel the price is absolutely right - just around 100 USD for a standard room for 2 you get the best room, location and most of all comfort this hotel could provide. It is a Hotel/Residence type with kitchen sink provided on every room. Getting here via Chungmuro metro go straight then turn left from the police station or you go further straight and turn left on the intersection towards the wooden platform. The latter has wider and main entrance but the former is more convenient and entrance from the school and restaurant beside it which takes about 5 mins. The lobby is absolutely gorgeous - spacious, clean and romantic. The gym is huge and got lots of equipment. The carpet at 3F is a bit old and rustic. Our room is standard double room which has a big double and comfortable bed with thick blankets, plenty of TV channels both local and foreign, very fast WIFI, proper cooling and heating ventilation which is centralized, a big toilet and tub with free toiletries daily. Huge cabinets, safety lock, a nice kitchen with complete dishwashing liquid and utensils like cups and plates. They also clean the room daily and provide 2 bottled waters. Slippers are also provided. We didn't have breakfast for our booking because there are tons of very affordable yet delicious eateries and convenient stores nearby. Checkin is at 3 PM and Checkout time is 12 noon which is an extra hour for other hotels. So if you ever plan to visit Seoul this hotel is highly recommended especially for a frequent traveller like me. 5 stars for Oriens Hotel!!!

Apartment consisting 2 bedroom and 1 small bathroom, also kitchen and living room. Advantages : 1. 10mins walk to myengdong station/shopping centre 2. Has washing machine 3. Dining table 4. Living room 5. Nice and helpfull front office 6. Affordable proce Disadvantages 1. Limited hot water (based on electric heater) 2. No drying machine in room or public area
- budinn2015 (6/5): Quiet, Clean & Friendly - The rooms are small, clean with no scenic window view (ours was facing a wall of another hotel building) but come equipped with fridge and microwave. The vicinity is quiet... about 10 to 15 mins walk to Myeongdong shopping area and underground station. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The cost was reasonable and overall it was a good and satisfactory stay.. !
