• Bethan (7/5): - Large clean rooms, decent amount of parking. Looks well maintained. It has laundry and a pool. Nothing that the hotel can improve on but there is a train that honks its horn throughout the night. It happened at 2am, 4am and 5am for us and does shock you out of your sleep as it is incredibly loud. Gives you that wonderful broken night feeling. I probably wouldnt have booked this place if I had known.

We got there and it was 8 so the food prepared was not hot and a little old which I expected because we were toward the end of breakfast but if I had known you could order food I would have done that and had a hot breakfast. Again I was at the tale end so my fault!

• Meeghan (10/5): Very nice accommodations with a very warm and pleasant staff - Very nicely appointed and comfortable. The room was large and everything was clean and tasteful. I travel with dogs and the per pet fee seems high. I don’t mind paying for my dogs and leaving a damage deposit but the per pet policy makes the room cost double. My dogs are small and I’m traveling alone. So if I had a partner and one large dog it would be cheaper, but a human uses more towels, coffee and sheets than my dogs. It seems a bit unreasonable. HOWEVER! I appreciate that Steven’s Inn shares their policy up front, so at least it wasn’t a surprise. That was great.

"BUT" the king size mattress was horrible, a big sink whole. The air conditioner sounded like a jet and we were so disappointed in the buffet. It was nothing like before when we stayed. A few choices and not tasty at all. We will not stay there ever again. Back in the day it was the place to stay.

The tv in our room wasn't working so I notified the front desk and they sent their maintenence about 5 minutes later and got everything fixed up for us. Overall a great experience even if we were just there for one night.

• Verified traveler (2/5): Motel with bugs - Motel room was infested with mosquitoes and flies. Everything was damp, bathroom smelled moldy. My husband took our daughter to the pool and within the first 10 minutes while I tried to get us settled I got covered in bites. We requested a check out within 20 minutes of arriving because of the lack of cleanliness, and an overall creepy vibe with the other patrons (which I know the motel cannot necessarily control). Front desk assured us we would get a refund working through hotels.com, but it ended up being denied. We noticed cans of bug spray outside of the hotel room next to us upon leaving. We were there less than an hour. Front desk staff seemed kind and knowledgeable about the area.

• Anna (8/5): Favorite hotel to stay in Carlsbad! - Check in went smoothly, and John welcomed us with a smile! Room was clean and beds were comfy. Parking was convenient, just outside the door. Toilet paper was thicker (thank you!) than the last time we stayed here. There was a gap on the entry door, which let in light. The refrigerator hummed, and with the a/c running the noise level kept waking me up. It took forever to find the hot water setting on the one handled shower! The shower began with lukewarm water, and finally started warming up after several minutes. Bathroom door needs some WD-40, as it squeaked when opening and closing. No coffee packets in the room - had to go to the front desk to get some.
• Shannen (5/5): It was good until we checked out and I can’t get my clothes back. - It was clean and the restaurant is convenient as well. That you get told when you check out that there is a pet fee of $35 a day which should be told to you when you check in. Also I left a very nice jacket, long sleeve men’s button down shirt, and a rodeo t-shirt that is now somehow missing when I just checked out. The staff was very rude when we checked out and us having to pay $628 instead of our planned expense of $513 and some change. Not pleased with how they treated us. I would like a phone call from upper management not the hotel manager on duty. 506-419-6519
