Guest Reviews
- Miller (1/5): Poor communication and poor customer service turned what should have been a straightforward stay into a frustrating expe - The property itself appeared clean and the location was convenient. The building and room presentation were acceptable upon arrival. Customer service was very disappointing. After making the reservation nearly three months in advance, I was informed at arrival that certain facilities were closed, even though this was never clearly disclosed during booking. Staff attempted to claim the closure information had been listed on the website, but that information was not present when the reservation was made. They also could not provide a clear timeframe for when those facilities became unavailable. Despite the issue being on their end, I was still charged full price after the reservation had to be canceled because the stay no longer matched what was originally booked.
- Amy (1/5): Didn’t happen, waiting for refund. - Still waiting for booking.com to refund cost of room. Was market d as available sauna/steam room and they were out of order. Hotel was not communicative and unwilling to work with me with the situation. We left based on booking.com advising they were going to refund me. Still waiting. Bad communication, room was beat up in appearance when we did look at the room. Furniture, rug were in bad shape-work leather on headboard and chairs. Rig town and strings hanging-trip hazard. Tables were not wiped clean-smeary. Refused to stay in either room presented to us. No other recourse presented by facility.
- Agnes (4/5): notify people ahead of time that some facilities are down - it was convenient wasnt aware the pool was down until check in doors broken with holes in them and headboards ripped up
- Cheryl (8/5): - They had a nice breakfast, beds were very comfortable, and the room was clean.
- Gary (3/5): It sure took the fun out of visiting our family. Should have stayed at super 8 - I liked the location in regard to our son's house for visits. That was about it. We will not stay there again. Pool aera was closed. looks like this happens every year around this time. Asked the staff for a discount. she got crabby
Told me I paid ahead for the room and there was nothing that could be done. Water in the tub and shower was luke warm at best. Breakfast was sub-par. Bed was hard. I'm not sure we will ever stay at a Best Western ever again.
- Amanda (9/5): Enjoyable stay with very friendly staff - The front desk staff was very friendly. The room was clean. We really enjoyed the specialty coffee/latte/hot cocoa maker in the front lobby. The breakfast was also nice.

- Trudy (10/5): i would stay here again! - the Staff was very helpful. The end room on the 3rd floor was exceptional!!
- Christine (10/5): Room exceeded expectations, nice family pool area, great breakfast buffet. - I was surprised to see the size of the room, plenty of walking space, room for luggage and sitting. The king mattress was so comfortable! The room was very clean. I was a front office manager at a resort in Florida and cleanliness is everything, I appreciate it.
The breakfast was great, lots of variety, the breakfast room was decorated nice and very clean. The hotel was in a perfect location for our needs, 10-20 minutes to what we needed. We will definitely return! The front desk staff could be just a little bit more professional- little more welcoming and polished.
But nothing to stop us from coming back. 🙂

- Bre (5/5): It was ok - Location off highway. The room had just been cleaned but there dust on the desk, a bug in a towel, and just didn't appear to be very clean.

- Petersen (10/5): very enjoyable. - It was not advertised on internet, but they had breakfast that was good. We were very satisfied.
- Danielle (3/5): - Most staff was friendly. Breakfast wasnt bad. The pool left chemical burns on my kids. The front desk lady was rude. My room was not vacuumed the inside of the couch has food and was just nasty.
- Michael (6/5): October Biz Stay - I don't think the hot tub was hygienic because it bleached my bathing suit. The pool was a good temp. The fitness room was below average with a broken elliptical. B'fast was above average. Front desk was ok but did not go out of their way to help. The room keys kept failing. It was quiet which was appreciated. Housekeeping was only fair and one day did not replace shower gels. bottles were ridiculously small and hard to use. wifi was good. Thanks
- Judith (2/5): - A Brewer game was on and 8 of us were not allowed in the lobby to watch it together. I was there 3 nights and they never came to clean it.
- Danell (7/5): We had fun but the hotel was disappointing. - Breakfast buffet was very nice. Clean and many options. Room was large and comfortable. We didn't have maid service and/or the option to replenish items for our 2 night stay. When we checked at the front desk they said "sometimes there is maid service, it depends on how many maids we have available." I asked for 2 more sets of towels and coffee and was given them by the front desk.
There is no common area to visit with other guests. We booked 5 rooms and wanted some furniture or tables in the lobby to converse, watch TV, etc. The entire sitting area is blocked off daily, after breakfast, which is done at 9 am.
I left a full unopened box of iced coffees, a bag of pistachios, and a box of crackers in a cupboard (my fault). I texted my sister in law a couple hours after my check out to ask her to bring them home to me because she was staying another night. The front desk told her the maids through them out.
- Danielle (4/5): - The beds were nice and comfy
Breakfast was good the employees were pretty friendly depending on who your talking to.
Bathroom was nice and clean The pool gave me and my daughter chemical burns really bad and they weren't in here for a overly long time.
Some of the staff have poor attitudes but most are friendly.
The couch in the family suite was very gross lot of garbage and food inside of it.
Could have vacuumed the rooms better.
- Mary (8/5): -
- William (9/5): was very quite. pool area was nice, motel was in a nice location - sauna, spa. breakfast
- Jeri (10/5): - This hotel was very quiet with a decent breakfast. The beds and pillows were so comfortable.
- Elaine (10/5): - Room was spacious, very clean. Very quiet, inside and from any outside noises. Convenient location for our purposes.
- Renee (10/5): - Great selection on breakfast foods. Pool area clean, nice painting on walls, small water slides in kiddy pool and main pool. Friendly staff. Room nice and comfortable beds.
- mark (6/5): - Big room and bathroom by today's standards and wide hallways and stairs so must be an older motel that has been rennervated...when I called I asked for a 3rd story room (motel has 3 stories) and was told there was 1 available and I was promised it so made the reservation...when I checked in I was told the 3rd had nothing available for a while...and I asked if the scrambled eggs in the morning breakfast were real and made that morning and I was assured they were...but they were processed...otherwise good quiet stay and great coffe machine near the check-in
- jerry (10/5): - Comfortable easy to find
- David (8/5): - The kids loved the swimming pool area. My wife also enjoyed the sauna. Breakfast was great for people who could eat gluten. My wife is gluten intolerant and had limited options. There was a sign that additional options were available on request, but the front desk person confirmed this was not the case.
- Larry (10/5): - Good stay. Nice sauna
- Edwarf (10/5): The staff was so friendly and welcoming. We were only there for one night but would definitely stay again. - Location and when you walked in you felt welcome. The smell of fresh popped popcorn was a really good idea. Nothing
- Mike (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The furniture was old and tired looking. Cheap. We killed five ticks on our walls at night. Made it hard to sleep. They were very nice at the front desk.
- Kelly (7/5): Find and send me my suit and shoes, I will pay the shipping. - The breakfast was okay. It was fairly clean although the bathroom edges of the floor were dirty and could use scrubbing. The hot tub was clean and nice to sit in. I left behind a swim suit and swim shoes, called immediately and asked if they found them and I was told "no". They were on the bed in room 110, and the hotel told me they do their own laundry so I could not understand why they would not have found them. Very disappointed in telling me they did not find either.
- Dulce (10/5): - This property was super great! It accommodated my family of 16& we really liked how it has conjoined rooms. We were able to easily go from one room to the other without having to go out in the hallway. The pool was also a lot of fun and we liked how it was open really late . The breakfast was also really great, it had good choices, the only thing I didn’t like was the eggs, they were too liquidy. But everything else was great. The rooms were spacious as well, the shower was hard to turn on because the knob was too hard, but everything else was great! Would definitely recommend.
- Betty (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay the Best Western Plus.
We stayed for 2 nights.
Room and staff were great. But on the whirlpool rooms, could use upgrade as for safety.
Like bars to make the whirlpool safe to enter and exiting.
Dont work well for people with new joints.
Thank you.
Elizabeth Johnson
- Scott (10/5): - Nice place
- Judy (8/5): Nice stay - Our room was comfortable, spacious and very clean. The location, while close to the freeway, was a little isolated. It was near 1 gas station/convenience store and 1 restaurant. But the hotel offered a really nice buffet breakfast.
- Kader (8/5): - Hotel et chambres très propres.
Personnel avenant.
Breakfest acceptable.. Hôtel retiré de tout.
- Steven (8/5): - Front desk clerks were great When we came back to our room it was not cleaned no clean towels
- Frances (8/5): - I was very disappointed the pool was closed for repairs.
- Susan (7/5): Good -
- Mike (5/5): Passable -
- Diana (9/5): Would stay again great staff and breakfast. - Polite staff good breakfast
- Sara (6/5): Ok - Location Fire extinguisher was disconnected, sprinkler on ceiling was painted/sealed- did not feel safe in case of emergency ESPECIALLY in a room that was disability friendly. Also didn’t love that the outside door to the right of the entrance did not ever lock, so it was open for anyone to walk in.
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Road32990402515 (2/5): Don't stay at Sparta best Western!! - Staff lied, blamed friends husband for husband for room change would not give her the room she paid for! Asked in advance to makes changes was told they would not! Rooms were hot carpets felt nasty, food was stale, only good was the fruit and coffee.
- Osvaldo (10/5): - The Personnel was professional and courteous. The rooms were clean. And it was all quiet.
- Patricia (10/5): - Staff was friendly and very nice and clean place
- Sarah (8/5): - My kids really enjoyed the pool, which is why we booked this stay. There was a hot tub, and sauna for the adults. They also had a special kiddy pool with a mx 1.6ft depth. Two slides. Super fun.
The noise control with the footsteps above was slightly annoying, and the breakfast was ok.
- Tammy (10/5): - We stay here so my grandkids can swim
My daughter and family are vendors at Butterfest so its nice to relax after
- Autumn1881 (2/5): Not Customer Centric - Check in process was super slow. For breakfast, they physically kick you out of the complimentary breakfast area at 9:30, including families with small kids. They care more about their broken systems and processes than they do guest experience.
- Ross (9/5): Superb -
- Thomas (8/5): Very good -
- Angelita (10/5): Great mattress - I love the mattress and the friendly staff. The property was pretty clean which is great. My children loved the pool, we had a good experience.
- Cassie (10/5): - It worked great for what we needed to visit family
- Jean (4/5): Over-priced - The kids loved the pool. I thought I got a family room with 2 queen beds and a pullout but it was just a couch so unsure how it’s considered a family room and still trying to figure out how it was this sort of room?
For such a small town, price is crazy and get this are up but jeez. Elevator didn’t work and had my mom who is 80 and bad knees climbing up to the 2nd floor and down several times. Stairs and couldn’t do 2 rooms at $300 each night. Sorry but I stayed in Vegas for $175 a night and it had a working elevator and was on the strip. Only come down due to family cemetery in area and almost can’t afford to due to the prices in a little town.
- John (10/5): - It met our expectations.
- Margie (10/5): - easy place to find, quiet and clean and a very large and delicious breakfast buffet.
- Kelley (10/5): - Nice clean hotel with friendly staff
- Jacob (10/5): - Awesome pool for yhe kids and adulys
- Candace (8/5): - It was cozy and clean
- Michael (7/5): Good quality but could use a little upgrading - It was a decent hotel great breakfast although not much to choose from. Better room service would’ve been a plus.
- Allison (6/5): - We stayed here for a gymnastics meet in town. The positives are the pool, hot tub and sauna. The food was less than average hotel food and the hotel could using some deep cleaning/upgrades.
- Faye (8/5): - A little loud at night.
- Miller (9/5): Superb - This hotel was all that we expected it to be! Staff was very friendly and helped with the issues that came up during our stay. Breakfast had so much food, you didn't know where to start at. Location and nearby convenance spots is perfect! Wish I had bigger pillows to sleep on. 4 Pillows for a King Suite; just felt like I was sleeping straight on the mattress with no head support. Personally, just was not enough bed comfort.
- Anne A (10/5): Clean hotel, nice stay - Very clean and comfortable
- Mary Grace (8/5): - Staff are not very helpful and gets nasty when addressing complaints! Elevator was OOO for more than a week and we have to carry our luggage to the stairs up and down, no offer for assistance from the staff.
- Shawn (8/5): Very good -
- Louanne (10/5): - Great employees
- Nicolai (8/5): Ok - Nice place friendly people I did. Not like the signs on the dokr of the pool. We had a couple grandchildren visit a nd they wont let you have them go into the pool area. Ridiculous. We were surprised and not happy with that.
- Grace (9/5): Superb -
- Rj (1/5): No way to discuss early check in after having eye surgery - Did not get to experience Staff at desk was rude and impossible to communicate with
- Scott (9/5): Superb -
- Worthen (4/5): Not coming back. - The breakfast was exceptional for vegetarians. Soy milk n granola and such. Above average and breakfast staff was helpful and polite. The bed was not good. We could feel the coils on our backs. We had to lay perfectly still. There was tons of noise all night long-buzzing, humming, other people could be clearly heard.
Secondly, no one informed us prior to our stay that the elevator broke as we are disabled and cannot do stairs.
We had to struggle to get up the stairs with our things to say the least. Had we been warned we would have avoided this situation all together. Super disappointing and difficult! Not right.
- CRYSTAL (10/5): Clean and Friendly - One of the best hotel stays I have had in a long. All of the staff were extremely friendly. Everything was very clean including the breakfast and pool areas. This will be my first pick next time I am in the area.
- Sheri (9/5): Superb -
- Jacob (10/5): - Pool was down, but the staff was wonderful.
- Yaqi (8/5): Very good -
- wimisener (2/5): Worst Hotel Stay Ever - I used points for the first night of stay. We were in 214. After returning back to our room around 730pm, from the noise above us, it sounded like a party going up in 314. Lots of running around, constant foot noise from the floor and multiple voices. We tried to watch tv and read, but the noise level made any activity difficult. Around 10pm, we went to bed, but the same noises continued making it impossible to rest/sleep even with using a phone app for noise. I went down to the front desk and made a complaint of the noise coming from the party above. The friendly night receptionist went upstairs and came down about 1 minute later stating he had told them to keep the noise down and stated the residents were receptive.
I went back upstairs to our room and tried to sleep, but the noise levels stayed the same and the number and volume of voices increased. This continued until about midnight when I finally gave up and went out to sleep in our car. It was pretty cold, but I managed to stay in the car until 145am. I assumed the party would be over and returned to our room but immediately heard the same noise levels as before. I banged on the ceiling, but this had no effect. I tried to fall asleep, but the constant movement of people walking, running, moving items above us made it impossible. At 3am, I went back downstairs and told the clerk that I would be calling the police if he didn't take care of the matter. He said he would call them and tell them to quiet down. I went back upstairs and at first, I could heard feet shuffling like the party was ending. Voices were loud, but I thought in a few minutes (it was after 3am), people would leave that room, and I could go to sleep. I stayed by the door, with my clothing on in case it didn't. About 5 minutes later, I heard the elevator open (it was near our room), and a male and a female (ages about 17-20 estimated) started to walk my room door while pointing directly at the door, I had my flashlight on and when I looked out the peephole, they must have seen the movement of the flashlight and immediately ran back toward the elevator.
A few minutes later, I heard the room door next to us (to the right of our door while facing our door) slam shut and then loud voices and slamming of doors and hitting of walls. I again laid down on the bed thinking they might be going to sleep, but that room noises continued in addition to more movement noises coming from upstairs. I could hear voices above us as well, although not as loud as before. Around 4am, my wife went downstairs to complain, and she was told not to call the police. About 15 minutes, without any changes in the noise levels, I gave up and went to sleep in the car. I returned to the room around 8am and the rooms were quiet.
I requested to talk with the general manager Lynda and was told she wasn't in. I gave the clerk my name and number and requested the GM call me. This was on Sunday, December 8th. When we checked out on Monday, December 9th, I was told again the GM was not in and I again requested the GM call me. By Thursday, I had not received any communication from the GM, so I called the hotel and was told that the GM was not in and that she made her own hours. I was also told there was no way to directly contact her with any form of communication. This is insane where the GM of a hotel cannot be contacted by customers. As of Saturday, December 14th, I have not received a call from the GM who apparently has no accountability of her employment. I can see why this hotel allows parties and noise complaints to fester while ignoring their other customers. I am not young and have travelled extensively around the world, staying at many types of hotels and lodging types. The first night at the hotel was by far, the worst night I've ever spent at a hotel and I can't even get the courtesy of a call from the hotel manager.
- Katja (10/5): - Stayed for one night en route. Hotel is conveniently located right off I90, was quiet, and the breakfast service was fantastic.
- Trent (10/5): - Location was great. There was no mention of the Mexican restaurant next door which was great
- Adam (10/5): - Its Greeaaat!!
- Michael (7/5): It was only a single nice and was quiet and very clean - Breakfast was very nice and free. pool area very nice and clean. Bathroom had very little counter space to place personal items on like a shaving kit or women’s makeup. Water pressure could have been better
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessica (10/5): - All staff was pleasant and worked hard at keeping this lodging top rated! Yes, I will be staying here again.
- Chris (7/5): Good value and clean room. - Good breakfast with many options Furniture in room falling apart
- Cox (9/5): Superb - We loved the bed!!! It was very comfortable!!! Water pressure in the bathtub was poor.
- Grace (8/5): Just dissatisfied with overall furniture in room! - I can’t rate this a complete five because I don’t understand why they have to have the beds so high off the ground. No, I wasn’t in a handicap room and no, I was not able to sleep in the king size bed because it was too high for me to get into, a walk with a walker and it basically might’ve been one of the only rooms left but who knew that they would have a king size bed according to them that was 26 inches off the ground so the other thing is the comfort of their furniture was not the greatest. Besides, the vinyl material on the sofa Was peeling off. Very unappealing to have such A nice room, especially for the price they ask for that room. I’m sorry, but just overall, I was disappointed in the quality and the overall furniture appearance in the room I had.
- William John Kissinger, (8/5): - Excellent
- Christine (10/5): Great place to stay. - Very friendly staff, Our room was clean and spacious, breakfast had many good options. Would definitely stay here again
- Sue (8/5): - Easy to find. Clean, newer comfortable!
- Renae (8/5): Great stay and close to wedding venue. - Good breakfast with details such as nuts, berries and fresh jams. Coffee available in the lobby at all times.
Comfortable bed, clean and overall quiet location. Unfortunately on site pub is permanently closed and due to location outside town, other than a fuel station, no other nearby services. A bit overpriced for Sparta location and amenities.
- beachbeast (8/5): Nice Place - Good location, nicely maintained, efficient staff. The bed was comfortable, the lighting good, and breakfast was good. We made a same day reservation and that went smoothly. Checkin/checkout was easy. A good value and we’d stay there again.
- Susan (8/5): Very good -
- NancyL07 (10/5): Best hotel in Sparta, WI - It was a choice between 3 hotels in Sparta, and I'm so glad I picked this one. Free breakfast is a must for me and this one did not disappoint. There were so many hot and cold food options and they were all delicious. 2nd is it must have a pool/hottub. I've been in hottubs where half the jets don't work. The hottub was amazing and the pool temp was perfect. There was even a kiddie pool. They even had a sauna. All the front desk people were so nice and answered questions with a smile. Loved the coffee/hot chocolate/etc machine and the water bottle filler right by the front desk. Wished the bar was open-were told its permanently closed.
