- Margaret (3/5): Glad it was only for 1 night. Front desk understanding. Cleaning staff needs to find another job. - Location easy to find. Close to dinning. (Walking distance) Front desk staff very helpful. First room for handicap, cigarette butts outside door. Traveling with friend who suffers with Asthma. That did not rest well with her. Opened door and room did not look like it had been cleaned. Debris on one of the beds and pillows looked like someone had been sleeping on them. Showed photo of room to front desk, she apologized, said this was the 3rd complaint of the day. She tried another room, looked dirty and friend said bathroom smelled of urine. Finally found a room that was more ADA compliant for my friend. I booked this hotel on recommendation from a client who lives in John Day and said the BW had recently been updated and was clean. Probably will never get my friend to stay at a BW again. She said she has always been disappointed by this hotel chain.

We were on the motorcycle all day and booked this based on the pictures, as we wanted a bit of comfort after a long day in the saddle. We could as well have booked one of the other motels in town and gotten the same 'value' for much less. We expected more from a Best Western.

We found good food at the Outpost Pizza adjacent to the inn. It served delicious pizza. The bar tender was personable and made our dinner fun.

All of the breakfast cereals were sugar bombs with minimal fiber content. The breakfast rates very poorly compared to other Best Western motels that I have visited.

The hotel was almost full so there were people around. Nice soundproofing. And its a very safe, we left and accidentally left the door not closed all the way. We were gone for HOURS and nothing was touched, everything as we left it.

- katiewN5543BE (10/5): A blessing in a stressful situation - Our car broke down an hour away from John Day and we hitched a ride to the closest hotel while our car was towed to a nearby shop. They had a room for us when I just walked in and let us have a late check out the next day while we waited on repairs. We ended up waiting even longer in the lobby with our 18month old daughter. The staff was so kind and friendly in a stressful situation. They offered my daughter toys, snacks and to change the tv channel for her. They were such a blessing to us and if we ever find ourselves back in John Day we will be back. The room was clean, air conditioned and safe. Exactly what we needed.

The things we didn't like were: Our room was on the 2nd floor with no elevator; we are 70+ years old and have some heavy suitcases, which made for a good workout. However this time, there was a tick in my bed just underneath the fold of the blanket. To my horror I found this just as I was about to crawl into bed for the night. To their credit, the front desk associate was very understanding and immediately assisted me in switching rooms. It was “noted in my file” so that someone would discuss this with me upon checkout. No one made mention and I still ended up paying $200 for one night. I will not be staying here again.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Terrible experience. - Two of three staircases to the second floor were closed forcing us to walk all the way around the building with our luggage. Once in our room the bathroom was pretty dirty. Caulking over caulking looked sloppy. Only one pair of towels. The room faced east and the curtains were bare minimum efforts to keep the sun out. This was not a $250 per night experience. Breakfast in the morning was hard as a rock and looked like prison slop.

We were traveling together and checked in toghether. We were on the same reservation. This makes no sense. I'm owed a refund.

- Nicole (10/5): - For an out of the way place it is stunning how well the place functions! There are plenty of places to eat nearby from traditional small town fare to brew pubs.
- Theresa (10/5): Exceptional - Nice pool and great room. Nice breakfast.
- robertmR6673PT (10/5): Clean, friendly staff right on the main road. - Rooms were clean and spacious. It is just what you hope a hotel will be in a small town while traveling through or staying for a night or two.

- Joel (10/5): - Centrally located, great for our route. Liked that the hotel provides rags to clean our motorcycle windshields, small thing but nice.
- Julie (6/5): - The carpet in our room was dirty and had not been vacuumed. We even had to spray our carpet with natural bug repellent because of fleas biting us.
- Cody (3/5): Poor - Older Hotel. Cost way too much for the condition and location.

- Gillian (4/5): - This is a motel. Or a hotel. Didn’t get the room we booked. Facility needs updating. Breakfast was poor. Equipment broken and condiments past expiry date. Would never stay there again. Way too expensive for what it was.
