Guest Reviews
- Duane (10/5): - Extremely helpful staff. Clean rooms with comfortable beds. Right on Highway 290.
- Sati (6/5): - Old carpet and roaches
- Julie (8/5): - Clean room and breakfast area. The king bed was very comfortable and the room looked recently updated. BUT the breakfast food seemed old (we ate at 8:30)—the waffle batter was brownish and cooked up kind of “gummy.” The cereal was definitely old and the milk in the fridge was just about to turn bad. OJ had a weird aftertaste. I don’t think we’d stay here again.
- Tony (8/5): - Priced right
- David (6/5): - Stiff, rough bedding. Overall, hotel room was in good condition. The daily rate was that of a nice downtown hotel. This clearly did not meet that expectation. If you can get a rate under a hundred bucks, then it might be a good option. It does have a quaint outside area..
- Darryl (8/5): - Easy check in, clean room, nice staff. My only issue was the bathroom shower head was broken and the shower door leaked water onto floor. Overall a very convenient location to park and very easy to find.
- Lucille (4/5): - The first room we were assigned had a horrible stench, like decomposition, they agreed to switch rooms immediately but, the second room had one lamp that didn’t work, the clock radio didn’t work, the phone didn’t work, and there were weird flying bugs in the shower. The sink was also peeling, like someone attempted to paint it and it’s all coming off. The breakfast buffet was terrible and there was a colony of feral cats living at the hotel. The staff was friendly but, no way am I going back
- Dennis (4/5): Pics did not reflect current condition. - We were looking for a hotel, but we got a motel so we felt a little deceived. And the pics made it look like it was worth what we thought what we had in mind.
- Bronwen (6/5): - Hotel was cute and western-y and had character, but it just felt a little older and a bit run down. Driveway/parking not very clean. My room was so dark.
- Bruce (6/5): - Need weather stripping for the exterior doors to prevent critters from entering the room. The light switch in the bathroom is becoming detached. After a day of visiting the area, I arrived at my room at 4pm and my room was not picked up or cleaned.
On Sunday, August 31st, at 9:00am, there was no breakfast and the tables were dirty. Everyone who was at the dining area had to wait for food to be cooked and served. I wiped down my own table for my family to eat. This hotel may be labeled as a Best Western, but clearly it was once a different hotel that was bought out by Best Western. BW needs to renovate the hotel rooms, especially the bathrooms. Not sure if you're short on staff, but it appears that the cleaning team are cleaning all day. Also, the day of check out, as I pulled up the comforter from the bed to check if there was anything under the bed. I saw an open condom wrapper.
- Joshua (6/5): - The room was fine other than a burnt out lightbulb but my biggest complaint was that the pool was filthy and full of bugs
- carlos (6/5): Good Stay - Overall good stay. Room outdated, bed wasn’t comfortable.
- Sarah (10/5): - The staff were so wonderful and accomodating. They made sure one of my valuable belongings that I had left at the hotel was returned to me. They were kind, gracious, and very hospitable. I was very impressed, and I will be sure to keep Best Western as my first choice of a hotel stay for the future.
- Maria (6/5): - Pictures on website give a false impression of what the property looks like. The smoke detector in the room was damgling from ceiling. The toilet had a hard time flushing. Hotel is old and not in best condition. Personnel was very attentive.
- Nikhil (10/5): - Na
- Henry (8/5): - See above.
- Jo (6/5): - The staff at the Best Western were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. The hotel itself needs some serious updating. The faucet in the bathtub was just about to fall out of the wall. The room had a very musty smell. Johnson City, TX is a very small town…so I’m not sure what other hotel options there were. I doubt I would ever stay there again.
- Donald (8/5): - It was a nice place even though an older hotel. Breakfast was great compared to other hotels been at. All staff were great too.
- Jose (10/5): - Excellent Customer Service
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do not recommend - Do not recommend. Half of the lights didn’t work in room, paint peeling in tub, stained towels, hair in tub and wall, tub didn’t drain well, left side of tv screen was purple, live bug in my bed, ice machine didn’t work, and last but not least, the cleaning lady opened our door without knocking an hour before checkout. Won’t stay there again.
- Christina (4/5): - Our shower area had mold. Carpets are so dirty we had to wear socks. Water was ponding outside of our door.
- Patricia (10/5): - Stacy and Teresa at the front desk have been welcoming and helpful. Convenient location
- Roseanne (4/5): - Pass on this one.
- Nancy (10/5): - Air conditioner very loud when coming on - also plumbing from other rooms loud as though they were in my shower
- Jenny (10/5): - Great experience- nice ppl, quiet and comfortable, cold-ac room
- George (10/5): - Great value for a reasonable price! For bike enthusiasts an excellent location for many of the mountain rides
- Samantha (6/5): - the outside rest area was nice to sit outside & enjoy the evening although the tables need to be wiped down from all the pollen. The ac was broken in the lobby & breakfast room. The breakfast equipment & area needs to be cleaned more often. dried yogurt, pancake mix on the machines is gross. The walls around them need to be wiped down daily. Shower curtains in room smelled soured. The room was was comfy but some deep cleaning & replacement items would be nice.
- Billy (4/5): - When we arrived there was hardly any cars in the parking area. We left for a few hours and came back to a full parking lot with a lot of people hanging around the parking lot and a lot of people sitting out on the balconies. Did not feel safe as you could not understand the language being spoken and all the people watching you move things from your car and to the room. We will not ever stay here again and will not recommend it.
- Al (8/5): - Property was ok for a town of 1600 people. Hotel outside was repaired with poor workmanship.
Expedia was to send us a receipt for our stay. Haven’t received that!
- MaryL (10/5): Great value and location - Great value. Nice gazebo and picnic area. Nice breakfast room and great breakfast.
- DAVID (10/5): Awesome place to stay! - Staying at this Inn was really nice. Everything was clean and at a good location near downtown Johnson city.
- TUYNGA (10/5): - Clean, Staff was friendly
- David (6/5): - We asked for a king and got a full sized bed.
- Carla R De (10/5): - Clean and comfy
- Sherri (10/5): Johnson City BW - Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was professional and took care of issues immediately. Only bad was the breakfast. Eggs, potatoes cold. Biscuits were mushy with moistures. Unfortunately yogurt machine was broken.
- Doug (8/5): - Clean - safe and Quiet
- Jeannette (10/5): - Good
- Gregory (6/5): - It was a good location. Convenient. Breakfast was not Convenient to get to given the weather conditions
- John J (10/5): - I went because it is close to My Son that lives in Johnson City. Have stayed there many times. The room rate has changed and much more manageable. Breakfast was good. I will be back,
- Doreen Van (10/5): - The motel is clean but needs to be updated. We have stayed here twice in the last few months. I slept well and didn’t hear any highway noise.
- Jody (4/5): - Old property that has had some fix up work done but needs more improvement. Staff was ok. Breakfast was good and set up well.
- Sarah (8/5): - The lady at check in was super friendly and kind. Very simple check in. The room bathroom wasn’t super clean (sticky floor, kinda yuck) and very tired and outdated room but bed was clean and comfy. My favorite part by far was the super cool yogurt dispenser machine at breakfast! Other Breakfast options were also pretty great. Scrambled eggs and sausage one day and scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, and beans the next with other cereal and pastry options. Great waffle maker as well. Sadly the yogurt machine was out the last morning. I’d go back just for that! I would definitely stay here again as I feel like it was definitely priced well and convenient to town.
- David (6/5): Christmas 2024 - Room was okay. The shower head leaked all over the bathroom. Had to tighten the shower head. Bulb in lamp was missing. Top step to 2nd floor was higher than rest. Trip hazard.
- Dennis (8/5): - Nice setting in town. Ice machine was not working. Interior was a little dated.
- Robert (4/5): - Old linens were left outside rooms. Still there late evening.
We had roaches and there was so many we packed up and left.
Last year we stayed at this property and had none of these problems
- Judith (10/5): Johnson City lights - Nice older hotel could use remodel. Beds new comfortable. All amenities breakfast great. Great location!
Day manager great and all other staff helpful.
- Krysten (6/5): - The hotel was outdated but overall clean. The price point was high for the quality of the room, but there were not many choices in the area. The outdoor picnic/lawn area next to the hotel is beautiful though and breakfast was fresh & good.
- Tracy (8/5): - 2 to 3 times a year, I stay at this hotel as I am in town deer hunting. The propertly is just fine. Its probably the nicest motel in the area. Its actually higher price wise, then when I travel for business and stay at luxury hotels, but what are going to do? They take advantage of the fact its deer hunting season so they jack the price. That said, there are a couple of good restaurants within walking distance, the motel area is old but clean, its most of the time fairly quiet, tv works, shower works, bed is comfortable enough...hope I get to stay here 2-3 times a year for the next decade.
- Kemper (8/5): - Prefect for a one night stay.
- Silvana (2/5): - Best Western in Johnson City had highest reviews and we booked a two-day stay there. The room we checked in was smelling bed, dirty, and had bugs. We called the front desk and requested a full refund. Front desk employee was accommodating, issued us a full refund, and apologized.
- Perry (10/5): - The lady at the desk was very nice and helpful. They have a great spacious outdoor area with shady benches and tables.
- Melissa (2/5): Do not stay!! - The room was not very clean. At midnight we were woken up by a man banging on the door looking for his daughter. My husband repeatedly told him she was not in there and he started ponding again. Finally once he left we called down to the lobby to explain what happened and he was like ok. Then Saturday we were going to swim but the pool was packed with people who were not even staying there and the music was very loud.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Great stay. Friendly staff and comfortable bed
- Natasha (2/5): - This was the worst hotel we have stayed for the price. The room was dirty and worn and there were fruit flies and flies in the room. The towels were dusty and couch was stinky. The breakfast was horrible. I will never stay here again.
- Tracy (8/5): for a small town its good. - Its the Best Western in Johnson City. Its old but clean. Staff is friendly. Plenty of places to eat even within walking distance. The rooms are ok. TV was good, the beds could be more comfortable but again it is what it is. Small Texas town Motel. I was there deer hunting so it was a lot better than sleeping in a tent. Again staff is very friendly.
- Rick (10/5): - It was a pleasant stay with great breakfast options.
- Olivia (10/5): - The location was great. The clerk was very nice and helpful. Also the cleaning lady was very nice and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Family visit - We have stayed here a few times. The rooms are clean, but could use a little TLC (flooring instead of carpet, painting). This last visit found out that there wasn’t a hair dryer in the room after I took a shower and went to dry my hair. Breakfast was good. A nice selection of items.
- glynn (10/5): - Great stay!
- sandra (10/5): - Clean rooms. Friendly staff
- Charlotte L. (8/5): - We typically make a last minute plan to go to Fredericksburg, and BW in Johnson city is comparable to the places we've stayed at in Fredericksburg, but at a better price. We stay here a couple of times a year, and it's always clean, beds are very comfortable, and the staff is nice. The restaurant next door is really good, and convenient to walk or drive to.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Our stay was fine (average) but I’ve never stayed at a hotel that I wasn’t asked for an ID or CC upon check in. That was strange and iffy. Other than that, the room was clean and the bed comfy.
- Maria (6/5): - The property was quiet and easy to get to. Was able to park in front of our door. The beds were comfortable. The carpet and sofa needs to be replaced. The breakfast was just ok.
- Marc (8/5): - Convenient location
- Wayne (8/5): - Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Didn’t care for bathroom faucets. Hard to regulate temperature.
- John (8/5): - The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. The food could use a little work, but all in all, it’s a nice place to stay
- Glenn (10/5): All good - A couples weekend and this hotel fit the bill. Bed was a bit old but okay. Coffee machine had what tasted like old burnt bold coffee
- Kelly (10/5): - Was great.
- S.K. (10/5): - Convenient to Pedernales State park. Clean & quiet for my needs. Friendly staff.
- Foy (2/5): - Their breakfast was inedible- burned, dry, or not available when you came to eat. Our room flooded the first night. Had to move our soggy belongings to another room at 4 am with no apology AND they had the nerve to charge us for the night. The beds and pillows were lumpy. There were bugs everywhere. TV didn’t work. We won’t be staying there again.
- Maria (10/5): - We loved this place! Room was spacious and clean, the manager was very kind, attentive and friendly. Breakfast was very good, and included fruit, eggs, sausage, bacon, beans, in addition to the typical American breakfast.
- Karen (4/5): - This is a very old property. AC in room very loud; bed uncomfortable; a lot of flies in breakfast room.
- Carrie (8/5): Nice, clean hotel - Basic Best Western. The room was clean. The cleaning crew should consider where the park their carts and leave trash. The walkways were completely blocked the morning we left. The older gen6at the front desk was very nice.
- Crystal (10/5): - Safe, quiet place with a great complementary breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Convenient location, clean and people are friendly. Stayed there several times never had any issues.
- Terri (10/5): Great hotel in Johnson City - Nice hotel, clean room and friendly staff
- Sevinj (8/5): - Nice for family stay
- Judy (10/5): Home away from home. - Staff was very helpful and nice. The breakfast was excellent. Had a varity of selections and was a bit different each day. Selections were fresh and real ingredients (no imitations).
- Lewie (10/5): - The newly remodeled room was nice.
- ruby (8/5): - Nice clean room
- William (10/5): - Perfect for a quick getaway. No frills, just nice and comfortable. The breakfast was better than expected. I hope they never change, as we will be staying here again.
- Judy (10/5): - One set of towels. Had to ask for more. Floor was so dusty there were strings of it on my black socks. It’s a good thing I brought an extra pair. Hot breakfast was limited and greasy. Body soap dispenser was empty. No body lotion in the room and I didn’t find the iron.we have stayed here several times over the years, but it’s been a few since the last time. I don’t think I would choose this place again.
- Tammy (8/5): - Small park with gazebo beside it and comfortable beds was nice
- George (10/5): - Great breakfast.
- Lisa (10/5): - N/a
- Erin (6/5): - Staff were super friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the breakfast burrito's.
- PETER (10/5): Excellent breakfast, average rooms. - The hotel was fine as long as you're not expecting a 4 star hotel. We stayed a few nights and didn't have any problems. The building itself is getting a little old, and probably needs a renovation soon. But for a cheap hotel it was fine. I would like to say that the breakfast was REALLY good. The coffee was actually good, like better than Starbucks good. Real orange juice, real eggs and sausage, and even biscuits and gravy. We didn't have much interaction with the staff, but the 2 people we talked to were both friendly. I also liked that they provided us with a phone number that we could text message with any problems or questions.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Lobby staff was very kind. Provided whatever needed. However, motel very dated. Carpet wasn’t clean and towels had a smell. We were there during the weekend leading up to the eclipse and I couldn’t believe we paid that much for that kind of motel. Checked out on Sunday, 4/7.
- Michael (10/5): - One of the best hotels I have seen for a whole. Clean rooms, friendly staff, comfy bed, good selection for breakfast. Staff resolved a TV issue quickly, good value. Wish more were like this!
- Emily (10/5): - It was a great room for our weekend trip
- Shannon (6/5): - The bathroom needs updating. Not clean. Hard to get hot water.
- Mark (10/5): Clean and delicious! - Room was clean and breakfast was delicious.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Dirty Sheets - Check-in was great. Greeted politely. When we got to our room the bed looked like someone had sat on the edge after making it. But when we pulled the top covers back it looked like it had been slept in. Whomever had stayed there before probably made the bed back up and the cleaning crew thought no one had slept in it. We called the front desk and asked for clean sheets. She brought them but we had to make our own bed back up. No apologies were given. Breakfast was great! All the fresh fruit, breakfast tacos, biscuits and gravy, waffles, coffee & juice, nothing was missing. I feel like the breakfast is an add on, not a huge necessity, like a clean bed. Should have taken a picture, but we didn't.
- Alison (2/5): Terrible - Terrible, old, dirty, roaches.
- GinaB (10/5): - THE STAFF WAS SUPER FRIENDLY AND VERY HELPFUL - THE ROOMS WERE VERY CLEAN. WE FELT VERY SAFE. WOIULD STAY THERE AGAIN. GINAB
- Patricia (4/5): Poor reflection on BW brand - Not so good. Have stayed at a lot of BW. This one by far fell way below our expectations. Old facility and got to listen to showers in other rooms well into the night. The place needs more than a facelift and is a poor reflection on the BW brand.
- Cynthia (10/5): - Great stay
- Joe (10/5): - The people.
- Ronald P (8/5): - So far so good.
- Jared (10/5): - The staff was very helpful and attentive. The breakfast was fantastic and fresh. I had a great stay.
