Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I am so thankful to have found this property which was one of the best deal by far. I was greeted a couple days in advance by the popular Nurse over the phone. She made the entire process so smooth and easy from taxi, check in and down to the food etc...she is my go to person throughout my stay. She made me feel like family. I am truly Bless and Grateful to have her. A marvelous lady with an heart of gold. Very kind hearted and always there when you need her. Very trustworthy and devoted human being. An amazing cook! Always willing to go above and beyond!!!!! She is a treasure and always on the go.
Ms. Charmaine made me feel at ease by checking me in earlier than scheduled due to the Covid pandemic.
It is my HOME away from HOME.
It is spacious, quiet, very clean and SAFE!!!!
Overall...I had the most well rested and deserved vacay and will definitely be coming back in the future!
It exceeded my expectations.
- Robert (8/5): Chizzy - The weather was amazing I enjoyed my stay
- William (10/5): William at Chester's - Chester Avenue B&B is located in a private walled garden, and is set-up in a grand old house. The service was outstanding, with a willingness to do whatever was necessary to ensure a pleasant stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I chose this property specifically because I was travelling alone. As a single female traveller, I liked that a couple of other reviews had noted that it was in a safe neighborhood. I'm American, but lived in Jamaica full-time for 5+ years -- in Negril. I came to Kingston because I was flying out of that airport (as opposed to the one in MoBay) th e next day. I didn't want to get up extra early to get to Kingston, so I decided to stay overnight in Kingston. I'm used to coming to Kingston for business, but have only stayed overnight in the city a few times before -- but never alone.
This B&B fit the bill perfectly! I'm a runner, so when I checked in (around 4 pm), I suited up and took a long run. Got back after dark, but still didn't feel unsafe. The property is in a very upscale neighborhood and is gated (as almost all the properties are in that neighborhood). The room -- and closet and adjoining bathroom -- was HUGE and eat-off-the-floor clean.
It's walking distance to a lot of places -- grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, etc.
The owner of the house -- and her staff (I met her daughter and the cleaning lady) -- couldn't have been nicer.
This will be my go-to place when I travel to Kingston and need to stay over. LOTS Of beautiful artwork too. Wish I'd gotten some pics of it, and that beautiful staircase. Highly, highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful property, competitive price, excellent service. I'll be back
- Parthibarajan (10/5): Nice stay. - It was an excellent experience. The hospitality was outstanding and its clean and safe.
- Carlene (10/5): - I really liked the courtesy and friendliness of the staff. They were very accommodating and flexible. It made my stay very relaxing and comfortable. The area is quiet and peaceful and safe.
Thanks guys for a warm peaceful weekend. Il definitely stay again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Perfect place to stay for a short term. Nice and quiet.
- BrahimCoulibaly (10/5): - Walking distance to shopping center US embassy..,,
This is a mansion that has been well equipped to accommodate guests...I will definitely come back...it felt like home away from except my House is not that nice.
Quite area ...rooms so big did not even know I had a neighbor!
- Andrew (10/5): The best - I have been coming to Kingston for 15 years and this property is the best I have stayed at. A absolute pleasure to be there. So thank you and I will return soon..Simply the best...
- Deirdre (10/5): Embassy - I was pleasantly surprised. Nurse and the owner greeted us, upon arrival. Such sweet, amazing people are too rare these days. I can't praise the entire experience enough!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property looks just like the picture, very spacious, can be very hot n humid entering the B&B but once your in your room there's A/C & ceiling fan. The lady called Nurse was excellent, attentive, caring and there to help when needed or looking as if you might need help.
- Warren (10/5): - Private and comfortable. The owner's hospitality is on another level. And l would definitely stay there again. Just absolutely wonderful.
- Emma'sMom (10/5): - Beautiful home! Our room was large with a comfortable bed. There was also a screened-in patio that was perfect for sitting and reading or just enjoying the birds singing. Nurse Sinclair was wonderful; very personable providing us with valuable information about the history of Jamaica and helpful hints on what to do in Kingston. She also connected us with a terrific driver who was able to take us around Kingston, then drove us to Montego Bay. We very much enjoyed our stay here would definitely come back again the next time we are in Kingston.
- Ykep (10/5): - The service and facilities is excellent! Charmaine and Nurse are soooo friendly, it’s like coming home! I’m a runner and this location is 1 minute away from a monster hill that’s great to train on. It’s definitely cooler to run here than where I live! It’s also 2 minutes away from a shopping center that has a movie theater, a supermarket and a pharmacy. You MUST have a movie watching experience in Jamaica! I hope that Chester Avenue Bed & Breakfast is available when I plan my next trip here!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is located in a very quiet part of the city. The house captures the island’s artistic essence by housing several original paintings. Throughout the home the rooms are clean and well kept. Staff are very accommodating and extremely friendly. I recommend this property for the individual who is seeking an oasis in the city.
- ALEXANDER (10/5): - Miss Sinclair is the Best She's Friendly/ Helpfully and she's always in whenever you need something.... I'll go again
- Paul (10/5): - We love the house. Quiet clean and safe! Mrs Nurse made us breakfast every morning and was avail at all times of the day for our needs, we we’ll definitely stay there again..
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Clean, comfortable accommodation. Conveniently situated near shops, restaurants and a popular gym. Wonderful staff. "Nurse" was very helpful. Definately recommend!
- Joseph (10/5): - Easy access to shopping areas. Wonderful hostess. Great cook and very helpful.
- Paulette (10/5): Fabulous stay at Chester Avenue B&B - Excellent accommodation, especially as l was a lone traveller. The room and garden verandah itself (luxury suite) was great, well furnished, very comfortable and spacious. I really appreciated the fast Wi-Fi. One of the best things about the accommodation is the fantastic service and support offered by 'Nurse' Sinclair who is around 24/7. She is a treasure. Whatever you need to do, she will provide guidance. The arrangement with a specific taxi firm is reassuring as the taxi always arrives on time, takes you wherever you need to go and is very reasonably priced. This is a real bonus when often, you aren't quite sure where you are going and when travelling at night. Nurse is always there to meet you upon return.
Breakfast is basic (rather than as you might expect in a UK or European B&B) but that's ok. Nurse is very accommodating if you need/want something in addition. Breakfast can be a bit tricky though if there are multiple guests as you may have to wait your turn. Not ideal if you are in a hurry, although you can agree a time beforehand.
The property location in a quiet surburban residential areas is very safe as is the home itself. Again, this was particularly important to me as a lone female traveller.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the B&B again when next in Kingston and l recommend it to anyone who is looking for nice clean, safe, quiet accommodation with a great housekeeper adding support as required.
Overall though, l had a safe and very pleasant stay
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nurse, the staff really good.we didn’t get any continental breakfast, other from that everything was good.
- Janine (10/5): Your home away from home - The house was big, bright, and airy and the property lush green. There's so much beautiful art decorating both the private and public spaces. Both the owner and the host were absolutely accommodating and friendly. There were also plenty of eateries, a shopping centre, and transport links within a 15-minute walk. The area was quiet and safe. The only area of improvement world be to have outdoor furniture. The garden is so lovely and it was a shame we couldn't sit outside comfortably to enjoy it.
Regardless, I would definitely stay here again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): nice bed and breakfast in secluded area of Kingst - Had a wonderful time was well looked after
- Cary (4/5): Below expectations. NOT for couples - Although I emailed when I was going to arrive with my party of two, I was NOT expected by the housekeeper. First night there was ZERO hot water. The next morning after having to let the water run for 15 minutes there was very low water pressure. Same thing the following morning. Still only one towel for two people for two nights even though I asked for another. No bottled water as advertised and the first morning we were not offered any breakfast. Also a barking dog for most of the night every night.
- Verified traveler (4/5): My Stay - Breakfast was advertised on Expedia that it’s inclyded and no breakfast was prepared. There’s no security, if you return late at night someone has to wake up and open the door, we did not feel safe coming in after dark.
- shelly (10/5): - I had a great stay at Chester bed and breakfast everything is in walking distance from the hotel restaurant's and entertainment. The hotel is very homey and Nurse is awesome she is very attentive and helpful.
- Marcia (8/5): I liked the neighborhood, quiet, relaxed ambience. - As a former Jamaican resident, visiting for the weekend. I felt quite 'at home'. Ms. Sinclair/Nurse was very hospitable and accomodating.
- Sedna (10/5): What I like about Chester Avenue bed &breakfast. - Enjoy my short stay at Chester Avenue bed &breakfast. Nurse was very pleasant, make the trip enjoyable. she was available to answer any question, address any concerned I have. I would definitely recommend this facility. why? the outlay, the cleanliness, the friendliness of nurse, and the location very quiet, private place I would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay while in Jamaica.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Safe and Friendly stay - Chester Ave. Bed and Breakfast felt as if I was in my own Home. Felt very comfortable walking around the neighborhood and the nearby stores. Ms. Sinclair is truly amazing person!!!! She was there to ensure we had everything we needed including transportation, food and a very comfortable environment. Dominique was very accommodating and always answered our phone calls regardless of the time.
- Ron (6/5): Nice location but not worth the price. - We were disappointed in that for a bed and breakfast there was not much of a breakfast and you are served instant coffee.
We had one towel and had to request an additional towel. No wash cloth were provided.
This B&B while in a very nice location does not offer much value for the price charged.
- Dextor (10/5): Nurse is the real deal. Tireless! - Nurse is a Zen master of always being invisible but always there when you need her.
Just call and she appears to address all your needs.
- Karen (10/5): Great guest house - close to great food and shoppi - Thanks to Nurse for taking care of us while we were there. 😊
- Veronica (10/5): Great stay! - I had a great stay here! Was in Jamaica on a business trip and stayed here for 10 days! The room was comfortable and spacious. And Nurse and Dominique were pretty great! I got into a car accident while there and Nurse even helped put the ointment on my back. Could use the kitchen to cook what I wanted and was thrilled that there was actual brewing coffee as opposed to instant like in many other places in the island!
- Meg (8/5): Beautiful Hotel, Safe and nice area. - Our stay was short one night before our flight back to NY, the Area is very nice, we felt safe. The host is really pleasant and she was nice all the time, even when we called asking for cabs information she was always willing to help. at the beginning we felt a little bit away from our main visit points (downtown Kingston, tuff gong studio, etc) but later we loved the idea to come back to our amazing and lovely room with terrace to rest after a long day in the city. Bob s Marley museum less than 7 min on taxi so Devon House (and ice cream) or 15 to 20 min walking, Enmanicipation Park is a little bit far away, but if you call a taxi you ll be find. please make sure negotiate with the taxi drivers, they should n t charge more than 400 Jamaican Dollar (like $4) for the trip , not for person, from the house to Bob Marley museum per example ; from Downtown Kingston to the house 800 jamaican dollar and to the airport from the house between $25 to $30 you can arrange with the driver that the house keeper suggests to pick you up if necessary. The breakfast could improve a little bit, we didnt like too much , it was just scramble eggs , but we appreciated the delicious coffee.
in conclusion , we had great time in our short visit and without a doubt we would love to stay here in our next trip.
- George (10/5): Home away from home - I usually book hotel rooms in Kingston, this was my first Bed & Breakfast experience. I felt as though I was in my home away from home. Full kitchen, laundry facility, reliable Wi-Fi, ready made meals, abundant Jamaican paintings and sculptures, and the furnished patio enclosure provided the comforts and convenience I've never had in a hotel.
The staff is phenomenal, every request I made was promptly taken care of no matter the time of day/night. My roommate fell ill and the staff essentially nursed her back to health. Even one of our traveling partners who wasn't staying at the B&B received medicine from the staff!
Although there were other guests, one located directly across the hall from me, I was never confronted with rowdiness or loud behavior at any point during my stay. I was also given personal tips on where to go for entertainment and dining, rather than the typical "excursions" offered by hotels.
- Errol (10/5): The place has a very delightful aura and felt very - Nurse was fantastic. She was always available and very friendly.Nice place to stay near all the places I need to get to.
- Sonya (10/5): Unique, Safe & Highly Recommended - This is more of a grand house than a hotel. I highly suggest you book here, especially if you are a couple or traveling individually. The art throughout the home is overwhelmingly Beautiful and amazing. Nurse, the lady who will make your stay as comfortable as possible and make sure you have everything you need, is one of the kindest people I have met in my life. In a safe and clean part of town within walking distance to great food and shopping. Very comfortable bed. Very clean. Air-conditioning and cable and Wi-Fi. I will absolutely stay at this location the next time I am in Kingston.
- Nicola S. (10/5): - My stay was awesome. The room was very clean. I love the location. I love the hospitality. I just enjoyed every part of my stay.
- John (10/5): Comfortable B and B - Lovely staff.
- Mark (8/5): Home from home experience - I loved the Kingston location. This is in an upmarket area of Kingston and close to some really good shopping plazas and good restaurants.
- Tim (8/5): Some kind of wonderful! - Despite the Hurricane Matthew alert...my stay was fantastic. The hotel gives u the "at home" feeling. Room with Wi-Fi is very spacious and comfortable. None of the great things about this place wouldn't be possible without a great staff. Thank u Nurse!!!
- Melinda (10/5): Very comfortable stay - My fiancé and I stayed here for a few days during a mini vacation while we visited family. This B&B is a lovely private home situated in a quiet upscale residential neighborhood in Kingston. Area was close to everything in New Kingston, about 5 to 10 minute drive from Bob Marley Museum and Devon House when we visited the town. The host Charmaine was super nice, there is someone to tend to all your needs named "Nurse", she was great. Light breakfast was provided to get your day started. There are plenty of restaurants in the area for lunch and dinner. Definitely rent a car so you can venture out and explore. The room was clean, comfortable and we had no problems sleeping. I would definetly stay again. Thank you for the hospitality.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The area was good but hotel was disappointing! Can do better with breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent, safe facilities. - My experience at Chester Avenue Bed & Breakfast was an excellent one.
From my phone conversations with Dominique (Mystery Lady), to the great care offered by Cynthia (Nurse), I felt completely satisfied.
Anyone looking for a few days or a few weeks in Kingston would certainly enjoy this location.
Thanks, ladies!
Dr. Stephen Tucker.
- Robert (8/5): Lovely private home in good neighborhood - Lovely private home, amazing house, operated by local family. Good security, good service, simple accommodations, quiet and clean. WiFi and TV are good. This is a very nice neighborhood and a very nice home. Close to good restaurants and good shopping. Friendly staff takes good care of guests. This is far more like staying at a friend's house that most B&B accommodations.
- Rohan (10/5): Everything was excellent! - Dominique and nurse were extremely accommodating. Thanks again. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): THIS PLACE IS AMAZING - This place is truly amazing. The pictures you see, very accurately show the beauty of the house. The staff is excellent and not intrusive at all. The star of this establishment is a wonderful lady affectionately none as "Nurse". Her warm smile and gentle spirit made my wife and myself feel right at home. If you want to feel at home give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice and quiet - Quiet neighborhood...clean and efficient room. Dominique was very sweet and helpful. I was there for business and using a driver. Just know that you should take dinner home with you at night. If you need to go back out everything is a cab ride away. Like the artwork and vibe of the place very much.
- Rose (10/5): Warm Jamaican Charm - We were treated like family the moment we walked in. The owner and her family occomodated all our needs and went out of their way to give us a unique Jamaican experience. Food was delicious and the house is beautifully decorated with local Jamaican art. Our room and adjoining screened patio was spacious and inviting. Most people skip over the city experience and stay at a resort, but they will truly be missing something special at the Chester ave B&B. I would recommend this home to anyone who wants to experience authentic Jamaican culture.
