Guest Reviews
- Caroline (10/5): - Great location, outdoor space. Nothing really.
- Modica (10/5): -
- Beth (7/5): I would stay there again. Great for dogs. - Quiet, couldn't believe it was so quiet for a pet friendly hotel. I saw seven large dogs, besides mine.
It was close to everything.
The bed was amazing, every bit as nice as a high end hotel. Kudos for that! Nice little balcony, not at all fancy, but you are outside. Gave the dog a great place to sit, and sniff. The very low toilet. It would be really hard for anyone with a knee, or hip issue. Even without issues, I thought it was too low!
I didn't care if some of the tables were worn, but they are. The carpet was clean but really worn. Have to ask for a microwave. Not a up town place, but some might care.
- Pam (8/5): - Lukewarm shower
- Sandra (7/5): Decent hotel, but a bit pricey for the amenities in my opinion. - Rooms were super clean, no odors, well stocked Comfortable enough, but the mattresses could all use updating. Tiny bathrooms with very little room to be able to close the door easily.
- Paola (6/5): -
- Huaizhou (5/5): -
- Reppy (5/5): - 2 beds Breakfast was bland, and noisy dog in next room
- Dashdavaa (10/5): Good - Good Good
- Datman (6/5): -
- Shepard (8/5): - It was all very good. We would appreciate having a place to hang a robe or clean clothes in the bathroom while showering. As it is, we had to make room on the counter or put them on the floor.
Having breakfast available earlier would have been nice too.
- briancW5878GK (10/5): A good nights rest - I took some time off in April and stayed over at Der Ritterhof Inn. It wasn't my first time being there so I already knew I had chosen an amazing hotel. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and quiet, and the views are amazing. Also, it's hard to beat a giant metal knight in the front yard. Breakfast is a typical continental breakfast, but that was perfect for me prior to a full day of hiking and exploring. Whenever I pass through Leavenworth, I know I can always count on Der Ritterhof to provide a great room at a great price. As for other amenities, it was off season for the pool so I can't comment on it.
- George (3/5): Leavenworth disappointment - Location Luke warm showers, heated pool advertised--not functional, some type of audio played all night in the next room. We borrowed a iron from the office, it had so much residue on the iron face it would have ruined the shirt we were trying to irom. It would be 20 dollar replacement. I was very disappointed in this place.
- Paul (10/5): Overall, for what I paid in the time I spent it was exactly what I needed. - The breakfast was pretty good for what I paid. The blankets were a bit thin.
- ejw2099 (10/5): Great Option Here! - Great place, reception was pleasant with the location very central and just a 5 min walk to the Front St area. I will definitely go back, just for the complimentary waffles in the morning along with other items to choose from to get your day started (we bought blueberries and whipped cream at the market, put them in our fridge to have for our morning waffles). Overall the room was maintained and decent size for 4 people on a short visit.
- daphney (7/5): -
- Nanayakkara (8/5): Great Location. Value for money and decent breakfast. - Walking distance to the town. Very convenient location. Shower must be upgraded. Bathroom fittings have not been updated forever.
- Randy (6/5): -
- Ellen (9/5): Great spot to stay in Leavenworth! - The room was nice and big, the hotel is in a nice area that is walkable to downtown and nearby coffee shops and restaurants, and the breakfast was great! It was all great.
- Mariia (10/5): -
- Shelly (9/5): THE place I'll stay Every time! - Best value in the area. Very walkable to everything. I will book here anytime I stay in town!

- B5046WHmegant (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE! Management Lies to Avoid Refunds. - DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Der Ritterhof Inn and, more importantly, how management handled what should have been a simple and fair situation.
I checked in on December 10, 2025 at 3:31 p.m. for a two-night stay ($734.12 plus pet fee). Shortly after check-in, the power went out across the entire town of Leavenworth. I went to the front desk twice that evening (around 4:00 p.m. and again at 7:15 p.m.) asking for updates. First, we were told power might return between 8–9 p.m. Later, we were told there was no estimated restoration time.
With no electricity, no heat, and virtually no food options, we made the decision at 7:15 p.m. to leave and drive home to the Seattle area. Due to road closures, the trip took nearly four hours. We arrived home at 12:50 a.m. I personally informed the front desk that we were leaving and was told they could not process checkout because of the outage and that I should follow up once power was restored.
What happened next is why I’m writing this review.
I booked through Hotels.com and was told by the hotel to contact them for a refund. Hotels.com then told me the hotel had charged me directly and only the hotel could process it. After going back and forth, I was instructed to request a refund waiver through Hotels.com so the hotel could approve it. The hotel then denied the waiver and disputed my credit card claim — using statements that are completely false.
The General Manager, Sheila Sanchez, claimed that I:
Stayed and used the room both nights
Returned on December 11 around 10:00 a.m.
Came back again on December 12 to request a free stay
Threatened to write a bad review and call my bank
None of this is true.
I have time-stamped Ring camera footage, receipts from businesses over 150 miles away, and photos showing I was at home in the Seattle area on December 11 and December 12. I even have Ring footage of myself walking my dog at the exact time she claims I was in the hotel lobby. It is physically impossible for me to have been in two places at once.
The hotel’s own website stated the outage lasted December 10–13. We were there less than six hours, without power or heat, yet they insist on keeping full payment and submitted inaccurate statements to justify it.
I waited to post this review until my dispute process with both Hotels.com and my credit card company was complete. Despite providing proof, the decision ultimately favored the hotel. I have emailed four times with no response and have repeatedly tried to speak to a manager, only to be told one is not available and someone will “call me back.”
Power outages happen. I understand that. What I cannot accept is being misrepresented and having false allegations made about me instead of simply issuing a fair refund for a room that was unusable.
If management had handled this honestly and professionally, this review would not exist. I cannot recommend staying here — not because of the outage, but because of how they chose to handle it afterward.
- jm52000 (2/5): HORRIBLE - Worst experience ever. Arrived at 9 p.m. on the 26th of Dec. Had informed in October about having a service animal. Also had booked 2 rooms in May for this holiday experience. Had called 3 times to insure we had 2 rooms with the understanding they would be close. Upon arrival, we were forced to sign a dog policy form if we wanted to stay. Rooms were in 2 different buildings, and the service animal was not allowed to go into the family room nor were they going to make arrangements for us to be in the same building. Rude customer service, then the hotel clerk watched us the whole time to make sure the animal didn't not go anywhere not allowed. If it hadn't been so late, and that we had not transportation as arrived on the train, we would have gone else where. This Hotel does not recognize the state and federal laws in regards to a service animal. Spoke to the owner next day and his attitude was he doesn't have to comply. He appeared to have been from another country and definitely did not care. Ruined our whole trip. Customer service was extremely rude and will tell everyone to not stay here. They don't even deserve a 1 star for low rating. Hotel is very dated and breakfast was quite limited and very slow in replacing what was low. DO NOT STAY HERE.
- Abdal (9/5): -
- Angelina (10/5): -
- Dennis (5/5): Too expensive for the quality of the hotel. - Its proximity to the Leavenworth main square. Absolutely—here’s a more constructive, professional, and balanced version that clearly communicates your concerns while staying fair and respectful:
⸻
While I appreciate the staff’s efforts, particularly at the front desk, my overall experience did not match the price point of my stay. At $444.11 for one night, I expected a higher level of comfort and service, especially compared to other nearby hotels where I’ve had excellent experiences for less.
There was a long wait at the front desk (approximately 30 minutes). The receptionist was friendly and helpful, but it appeared they were understaffed at the time. Additionally, the heater in our room was not working initially. Although staff did resolve the issue after a few hours, it was inconvenient, especially during a short overnight stay.
Unfortunately, noise was also a major issue. There was significant activity and running in the room above us during the night, and our neighboring guests repeatedly banged on the shared interior door, which disrupted our sleep. I understand that guest behavior is sometimes beyond the hotel’s control, but it still impacted our experience.
Overall, while there were positive aspects, the combination of maintenance issues, long wait times, and noise disturbances made this stay disappointing given the cost. I hope this feedback is helpful and can be used to improve future guest experiences.
- Courtney (7/5): Great value for a clean room and close proximity to activities. - Close to restaurants and shopping. People above me walking around all night, it was very loud.
- Suzanne (9/5): Excellent staff -
- Sara (9/5): -
- Malinda (10/5): I would choose to stay here again it was close to downtown so that was nice! - Lady at the front desk was super nice accommodating and helpful! Beds and pillows were comfy. It was perfect for our stay, no issues.
- A4455LZmatthewc (10/5): Wonderful Winter Stay - We had a great experience. Staff was friendly. We were able to stay there with our dog and have a wonderful breakfast. Easy to walk to downtown. Room was clean and quiet at night. Loved the decorations and style.
- Daniel (7/5): -
- Yuchen (5/5): Not bad breakfast, bed not very comfy, beware of smoke. - Free hot breakfast was better than I anticipated - had waffles, sausage, egg, etc. Great location, a little off the main strip so plenty of parking and still very walkable. Even though it was a Non-smoking room, the room smelled like smoke (a lot). The patio door was open when we first got in so it seemed that someone was smoking there recently. We told the front desk but they said there's nothing they can do about it. Also, our neighbors were definietly smoking weed with the doors open and being very loud but due to the first response, we just tried to ignore it. The bed very not very comfortable and hurt my back.
- Cyril chakko (9/5): -
- Vicky (10/5): No complaints... a time to relax ... we will be back for sure! -
- Mandy (7/5): - Walls are very thin. Thought our neighbors were in our room at a couple points because it was so loud. Beds are extremely soft and not too comfy.
- Shelby (8/5): Better breakfast - It was convenient Na
- Richard (8/5): -
- Martina (7/5): - The lady at the reception was very nice. We got to the hotel way before the check in time but she let us park the car there so we could walk into town. And she told us we would be able to check in early. She was very friendly and helpful Bathroom could use some renovation. In our room the wifi was not strong
- Virginia (7/5): -
- Rolf (2/5): - Is close to everything Our car suffered a theft attempt in the parking lot, and the people in the next room arrived bleeding at night!
- Jenn (10/5): Very relaxing and enjoyable - The staff was excellent! Very accommodating, courteous, and knowledgeable about the area. Went above and beyond in helping us to have the most enjoyable stay. The breakfast was fantastic, and had a great variety for all needs. Coffee always made, or was more than happy to brew a fresh pot.
Highly recommend!!!!
Thank you so much to all the staff. Weren't able to stay longer.Only other thing was we weren't able to get on to a first floor, especially for an elderly person with a walker.
- Marian (8/5): Really enjoyed it. Not far from city center. Would recommend. - Breakfast was good! Great staff. Can’t think of anything.
- jerry (9/5): Better breakfast saugeage and graveyard - It’s what my Dad booked Na
- Bang (8/5): -
- Scott (10/5): Our stay was very nice! - The staff were very friendly and helpful!
Bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast service was excellent! Pillows were as hard as a rock!
- Michael (9/5): Nice as always - We stay here every year when we come through on our motorcycle ride. Things are good here ,people are friendly Maybe a few more open outlets or a charging base for refreshing your electronics
- Portillo (10/5): Best stay EVER! - The room was neat and well-stocked. The staff needs a raise! They are well-trained and on the ball. I enjoyed the stay immensely! As a former local, I hadn't had the opportunity to stay in an inn in town. This is definitely where I'll be staying from now on!!! The waffle batter was a little too thin, and there wasn't a microwave in the room.
- Ashley (8/5): - Pet friendly, close to town, loves our balcony Need some games for people to borrow

- 658oliviers (6/5): That certain itch.... - I was visiting Leavenworth with my partner - just for one night. This place looked cozy enough. And, in fact, for the most part, it was (IS) a cozy property. It was laid out like a motel - but... there are thousands of terrific motels.
Having said that, the 1-night stay turned into somewhat of a semi-sleepless nightmare for us. Late into the evening and early morning, we both started scratching, but we did not mention it to each other until after we had driven off after checking out - when I told my partner that I developed rashes overnight. That was when my partner said the same thing.
When I checked my hands and arms, I saw a line of rashes on both. My partner showed me a similar pattern of rashes. I still was not sure, and did not wish to cry wolf prematurely. I stopped by a pharmacy near my home and showed my rashes to the nurse pharmacist. Yes, indeed - they were b***** bites. I immediately asked for medication (not a lot of available treatments for them, sadly). I took pics of the bite patterns - just in case.
I phoned the hotel the next morning saying that I suspected that the room had an infestation. To my surprise, the staffmember immediate said that no other guest had mentioned it.
As a veteran of 30 years in lodging, I can say that hotels distinguish themselves to their clients by how they react to unusual situations of adversity. Honestly, there is likely not a single lodging entity in the World that has not had its experience with these pests. But the worst thing that a staffmember or manager can do is to brush off the guest's report. After all, I was not asking for a refund for this injury - the rest of my stay had been totally fine (I would be open to coming back - as long as not in the same room).
In this case of outright denial, I decided to let the hotel person off the hook. I simply told the person to have someone inspect the bedding and mattress just to be safe before renting the room to another guest - even if no one else reported it. Thankfully, the person said... yes! Of course, I really hope they looked into it. While I was nice enough to call to let them know, other guests may just conclude that they should never stay here again. But like I indicated earlier, this is not an isolated problem. The hotel housekeeping and maintenance departments simply need to treat the room - and that would be the end of the matter.
Look, the truth is... even the Ritz have to deal with these once in a very long while! It does not mean that it does not happen. Tip to hoteliers: don't deny or ignore it; check it; treat it; check again; done!
I was not going to let this bad experience taint my view of this property. I hope to have a better experience in a future visit... as indeed, I am... itching to return!
- Marcello (2/5): Not pleasant - Location Dirty and rude staff
- Divina (7/5): -
- Kiley (5/5): -
- Estefany (4/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): We were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay. -
- Jeff (5/5): - The bath tub was really shallow and the shower water pressure was very low and the hot water was lukewarm almost room temperature.
- connier926 (2/5): DISHONEST!! - I've been in the tour industry for 40 years and have never been met with more unprofessional people, totally inept in their positions at any property I've ever stayed at with my groups. I originally booked a block of rooms at the Bavarian, however, used the entire block when I had 2 last minute reservations to join me on our tour. I gave my room at the Bavarian to one of the customers so they could stay with the group. There were no rooms at the Bavarian for another last minute reservation, so booked at the Der Ritterhof. I had a reservation for a room with 2 queens for myself and cousin. I reserved a room with a king bed for the last minute reservation, however, called to change to a room with 2 queens as the single became a double at the last minute. THEY failed to cancel the King room, so I was charged for the King AND the 2 queens. I've sent emails, called numerous times and left messages for the manager Sheila Sanchez to return my calls, filled out the survey with the truth about a total lack of professionalism from the employees, both checking us in and when we had to leave the property unexpectedly because of the weather, power being out etc.
I would expect at least a phone call, when it was an error on THEIR part in not cancelling the king room. I had a conversation with the gal that reserved the king room and was pleased that the room with 2 beds was actually less expensive, and the employees (both Katlyn and Nicki), were both in the wrong for not being honest and accountable! IF they were an honest, upstanding property with decent morals and ethics, they would have corrected this mistake (since it was THEIR mistake in not cancelling the king.
The power was out, my phone had died and needed to be able to talk to the motor coach driver, they told him they didn’t know what room I was in, they had checked me in the night before! This cost us valuable time, as we needed to leave Leavenworth because of the flooding/roads closed etc. VERY unprofessional!
- Annie-Christine (8/5): Conveniently located and we had a nice view from our room. - It was clean, staff was friendly, room was a value and breakfast was OK. It’s a bit dated.
- WickedB2015 (6/5): It's ok - We were excited to stay at the Ritterhof Inn. We love Leavenworth and were really looking forward to this visit. Overall, the place was fine, but it could definitely use some TLC.
The rooms feel outdated, and the carpet could really use a deep cleaning. That said, the location makes up for a lot—it’s convenient, quiet, and close to everything. The grounds were nice, and the property appeared clean overall.
We didn’t have any major issues during our stay, except for the breakfast. Based on previous reviews, we had heard great things, so while we didn’t expect anything fancy, we were still surprised. The breakfast was exactly the same every morning: eggs and a patty, two types of cereal, oatmeal, some pastries, and waffles. Unfortunately, the waffles never turned out right—they were either undercooked or almost see-through.
We also had some minor inconveniences. The Wi-Fi was unreliable, and one morning it didn’t work at all. Our door was difficult to close and lock. For a room that sleeps four people, there were only three hangers, and in the bathroom there was only space to hang one towel.
Most of the front desk staff were friendly and courteous, though one agent was less engaging. There was also inconsistency regarding pet policies: one staff member allowed a guest with a puppy in the lobby/breakfast area, while another the next day told the same guest the puppy had to stay in the room, even though that was supposedly not allowed.
Overall, the Ritterhof Inn has a great location and a quiet atmosphere, but some updates would definitely improve the experience.
- Lisa (7/5): - Super clean room, friendly staff, standard continental breakfast, easy check in/out process. The pillows could be much better.
- Jerry (9/5): - Room location and breakfast were all great. It was a little pricey
- ginanF9129IE (2/5): Receptionist unhelpful - I had a very disappointing and upsetting experience with Der Ritterhof Inn. I booked with payment clearly stated as pay at check-in.
On December 15 at 11:54 PM, I called the front desk to kindly request a date change. The receptionist assured me the manager would review my request the next day. However, just two minutes after the call, my credit card was suddenly charged in full, without my consent or any approval from me. This charge was completely unauthorized and shocking. Instead of waiting for the manager’s response as promised, the front desk took it upon themselves to charge my card, ignoring the original payment terms. As a guest, this made me feel helpless, disrespected, and taken advantage of. I trusted the staff’s word, only to be charged immediately after the call. This is not how a hotel should treat its guests. Don’t come here , Other hotels that my friends booked had no problem changing their dates at all. Unfortunately, this was not the case here. The male receptionist at this hotel was extremely unprofessional and unhelpful.

- Abbott_Sheila (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - Leavenworth experienced a bad storm. Torrential rain causing flooding, damage to highways and roads. The their town lost power for a couple days. My husband got sick, we think covid. I sent an email cancelling our reservations between COVID and the storm they had... Management wrote back stating the cancellation has been within 14 days of reservation and payment MUST AND WILL BE CHARGED IN FULL. "Let us know if you'd like to move forward" ? With what? Come up there while sick? Literally left us with no choice but to do so. Didn't offer to change the dates, didn't offer to reduce the price, absolutely nothing. Management was no help and unsympathetic! I am appalled at the scam of the facility, scamming families out of hundred and hundreds of dollars with their policy. Absurd and gives Leavenworth a bad reputation. DO NOT STAY HERE.
- Roselyn (8/5): -
- Michael (1/5): It was really bad!! - Nothing!!!!!! It was our first time to go visit your lovely town but unfortunately, we had the worst experience with our stay at one of your motel Der Ritterhof or as we call it Der Rottenhof! We looked at the pictures that were on their website and thought it looked like a nice place to stay...boy were we Wrong...first of all we booked a one room with a queen size bed (it was a double), we also expected to have Hot water and didn't get it the entire time that we were there, even though we told them twice to have it fixed for us. The repairman was very nice but the hotel staff never checked to see or ask if it was working to our satisfaction. We then asked if we could get any compensation for never being able to shower and the motel said there was nothing they could do, I asked to speak with the manager and was told there wasn't anyone to speak to. All she could repeat over and over was NO!! So please look at the pictures that we took to show what you might/will end up staying at before you place a reservation! Oh, by the way, all the reviews were right that the remote totally sucked!
- Debbie (9/5): Awesome accommodations! - The room was clean & beds were very comfortable. We loved that they offered a continental breakfast which had a nice variety. The hotel was conveniently located & not far from the downtown area.
Would definitely stay here again. no complaints.

- 19tyrah (6/5): Average Stay - The location is good, easy access to the shops in Leavenworth. Check in was easy, the room was clean with comfortable beds and fluffy towels. I was able to enjoy a hot shower. The staff was pleasant and helpful. They serve coffee, tea and cider 24hours. Breakfast was the only downside to the stay, minimal selection and the syrup for the waffles appeared to be watered down. As soon as I poured it on the waffle it was soggy, ugh! I was looking forward to that waffle. It seemed a bit overpriced for what you get, but this may be due to it being a tourist town. I will not need a repeat visit to Leavenworth.
- Bansemer (9/5): - Walking distance to town.
They have dog rooms.
Plenty of parking.
Nice grounds.
- Pamela (10/5): - I have stayed at the Der Ritterhof before, and it was great then as it was now.

- kathydM7383FZ (10/5): Very nice Inn - The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and well maintained. We will stay at the Der Ritterhof Inn whenever we are able to visit Leavenworth again. We are very happy to recommend the Inn to our family and friends.
