• Yves (1/5): Very disappointed. I feel that I have been cheated. - The convenience of the location. Nothing was as advertised. Room was minuscule, dirty, dark, and in desperate need of a good paint. Furniture (side table broken). Small window with an internal view on courtyard with garbage. Bathroom not clean, hair, shower dirty. No elevator, small stairs to carry two suitcases to top floor. Common areas in good need of a refresh. Poor breakfast. And renovation work on neighbor building.

• Zenobie (4/5): Poor value for money - The location is amazing. The bed is comfortable. The value for money is way off. The facilities are limited and everything feels like it's due an update. The superior double room was basically the same as a normal double room, if not worse. The shower was in the room itself, separated by a cheap shower curtain, and right next to the entrance door. The carpet smelled and is very old. For the price you'd expect a little bit of luxury, but everything was basic and cheap.

• Desie (5/5): - The location. This is what you pay for, it is in the middle of the center and close to the train station. The noise of the pub connected to our wall & breakfast. We only stayed 2 nights so that was OK, if I would stay longer that would be a bigger issue. We were in room 4 in the back, so no noise from the street. On saturday until 01:00 noise, sunday and week until 23:00 via the wall. There is space to further noise reduce the room, which I think the hotel could do. I read the reviews about the noise to late for booking, so we brought earplugs which helps. During our stay on Saturday Breakfast no big variaty but with eggs. However, Sunday they did not have eggs because they were 'running out'. Seemed strange, I would walk to a shop and buy a couple eggs. So that breakfast was dissappointing. I will not return.

• Floor (8/5): Zouden we aanbevelen - Super locatie midden in Oxford en niet ver van het station. Vriendelijk personeel en lekker ontbijt. Zeer schoon en goed verzorgd. Hier kan je goed een aantal dagen verblijven om Oxford te ontdekken. De kamer was erg warm (gestookt) en donker qua inrichting. Wij hadden een raam met uitkijk op de steeg (weinig ventilatie en lichtinval).

Kept bumping our legs on the ends of the beds wooden frame. Mattress was extremely hard and uncomfortable, didn't have a good sleep. Could hear people in the other rooms and the hallways. To get to the room, it was a trek. If you aren't in good health, not for you. Had to keep curtains closed because we faced another building, which we could see into their units, so know they could see us.

Room 26 is a no go, as the laundry room is directly oppopposite so No fridge in room- but complimentary water left out to heat up all day.

The building has plenty of character and feels in keeping with the historic surroundings. The location is a real highlight, making it easy to explore the city on foot. Rooms are comfortable and well presented, and the overall experience feels relaxed and easy. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Since this is one of the most expensive hotels in Oxford you would expect to have more choice or something hot.
• Sheila (8/5): The two night stay was enjoyable and would stay there again. - A beautiful boutique hotel with a peaceful atmosphere set in an accessible central location and only 10 minutes walk from the railway station.Comfortable beds and excellent bathroom facilities. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The continental breakfasts were plentiful and enjoyable, providing for all tastes. A small lounge area would have been welcomed. Unfortunately, the restorative building work to the adjacent property caused noise in the mornings, but this was unavoidable and hopefully will be soon completed.

The room was comfortable and clean, everything worked as expected and the shower was great. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were very accommodating. Cant tell you about breakfast because we found a little place around the corner which served our purpose. All in all a great stay. Nothing bad to report

Beim Frühstück ist Alles vorhanden. Auf Allergien und Unverträglichkeiten wird Rücksicht genommen. Diese einfach beim Einchecken bekannt geben. Es hätte Nichts besser sein können. - Eventuell sollte die Option angeboten werden, die Handtücher nicht täglich zu wechseln aus Umweltschutzgründen.

Very difficult to change shower temperature. Bit noisy outside in the street but was Saturday night in central Oxford. Housekeeping seemed to be stomping around from about 7am, being an old building it was a bit noisy.

• victoria (4/5): Avoid unless you enjoy building works adjacent - Location was the only appealing feature Hotel did not advise that there is major building works directly next door where a church is being renovated. Excessive drilling and banging could be heard from my room. Raised this with them within minutes and they did offer me another room which was directly below the one I was in, I declined as I could not believe that the noise disturbance would have improved. Bed in room was extremely uncomfortable with deep divots across the mattress, given also the bed was sloped due to the uneven floor not much sleep was had, concluding with a very painful back the next day. When I raised this at 8am at checkout I suggested they changed the mattress it was greeted with a very nonchalant disinterest. Overall for the £139 paid this was a very poor experience.

• Sam (8/5): OK. - A comfortable, spacious room in a hotel bang in the middle of Oxford. Staff very nice and willing to take our bags before check in and keep them after check out. Overall we felt that this room was very expensive for what it was. It was perfectly fine, but it felt very much as though we were paying solely for the location, which admittedly is very good. The continental breakfast was very average for the money, and whilst the room was fine, it didn't in our view have the extra specialness we'd have hoped for given the cost. It did the job but not much more, give the room was over £220 a night, I'd have expected more than that, and we've stayed in much more special rooms for as much as £100 a night less.

• mohammad (10/5): A pleasant stay in a charming historic hotel with a great central location. - The location was excellent, right in the heart of Oxford and within walking distance of major attractions. The building has a charming historic character, and the room was clean and comfortable. Staff were polite and helpful during the stay. The room was slightly small, and sound insulation could be improved, especially at night. Other than that, everything was fine.

Nicely decorated bathroom with shower, amenities, proper makeup mirror, heated towel rails. The room has iron, ironboard, safe deposit box, hairdryer, wardrobe with hangers and shelves. Coffeemaker and kettle. Small desk. Tv and small double bed. Nicely decorated, comfortable bed. Good WiFi. No fridge in the room. Hotel serves a small continental breakfast for £20 (better value for money at the breakfast places near by). Very friendly and helpful staff. Approx 15 min walk from the train station. • B111IVsimonr (4/5): Concrete Mattress!!! - Fortunately stayed here for only one night, the mattress is so hard it was like sleeping on concrete. Worst nights sleep I've had in a very long time, woke up with back pain and struggled to get up out of the bed. If you struggle with back issues, don't stay here. We complained in the morning and was told the manager bought very hard mattresses so they would last - great for the hotel but not for the person sleeping on them! Everything else was ok, but not 4 star level. We won't be back.
• Sarah (7/5): Location, location location - Fantastic location interesting position opposite the Oxford union both the hotel and the Oxford union are such beautiful buildings. Love the exquisite staircase and Regency features have been kept. Minor gripes here but shocking wallpaper in the central body of the hotel, unsafe plug points for kettle and coffee machine, coming away from the wall.

• O7509MTmikeh (8/5): Perfect location, warm, clean room - We stayed for one night as we were going to the theatre, and also wanted pre-theatre dinner at the Ivy (absolutely packed but really excellent!) and some drinks afterwards. We drove to the Park and Ride and got the bus into town - the P&R is very good value (£4.50 for 16-20 hours) and includes the return bus (or so we thought). We arrived at the hotel and the lady checked us in and gave us information on Oxford - although we visit 1 or 2 times a year so we know the place quite well, but her info was still welcome. We declind the continental breakfast as I prefer either nothing or a hot breakfast, and the lady suggested places we could go. We stayed in the room with a garden - the Nicholas Hawksmoor Room, the one next to the suite room. The room was fairly small, but knowing Oxford, this is quite normal as space is at a premium, and the buildings are old. The room was nice and warm (and it was very cold outside), and nice and clean. The bedding was lovely. The garden area was perfect and I could sit outside (with my goat on) and have a tea. The hotel is absolutely perfectly located for a night out in Oxford. It is a short walk from all the places you'd want to go. Pick up a map from reception to help you navigate - so much better and easier than using a phone to navigate. Check-out is at 11am but they are quite relaxed about it as long as you're out by midday (after that they charge per hour). Only about 4 long ife milks were provided, which is generally the norm now. I had though a-head and brogh extra tea bags with me, but then there wasn't enough milk. Next time I'd bring a frozen pint with me - since there's no fridge in the room (they really should add a fridge as there's ample room for one in the cupboard). I'd definately visit the hotel again and would either want the same room, or the suite, which I'm told has a fantastic bathroom with 2 baths and a big shower, as well as a garden. People that have moaned about the price, don't know Oxford. The more central you are, the more you'll pay. It's as simple as that. If you want a real hotel experience then stay at the Malmason, which is also pretty central. Avoid the Randolph at all costs! Being Oxford and a Saturday night, the place was very busy with students and tourists, all pretty rowdy, but snce I know Oxford this is quite normal. If you go be sure to visit The Turf Tavern, which is down the alley just past The Bridge Of Sighs. Oxford is a beautiful city. We got on the bus back to the Park and Ride and were told the free ticket only lasted 16 hours. although the parking was for 24 hours, so a bit annoying, but it was only £2.50 each Pros: Location Clean room Warm room Good bedding Cons: It's more a B&B than a hotel No cooked breakfast No fridge in the room Only a small quantity of tea (and coffee) and long life milk provided Would we return? Yes

• suzy (4/5): I felt disappointed. - The state of the decor was not what I had hoped for. We received an upgrade upon arrival but the room was rather scruffy in my opinion and desperately needs to be painted! I was so disappointed.
