Guest Reviews
- Wanda (10/5): - Great stay with family
- LESLIE (10/5): A jagged piece of Sea Glass - This Seaside Hotel is a conveniently close to all the fun kinda place. The staff are all so nice and accommodating. The pool is nice for the kids and the beach is across the street with beach access practically midway on the boardwalk. The rooms are dated but clean and air conditioners keep the room nice and cool. The showers are tiny but water pressure and hot water is great. I bring my own pillows and blankets for comfort. The stairs to 2nd and 3rd floor are a bit dated but this hotel is an antique to the Jersey Shore. The microwave and mini fridge are a bonus. You get what you pay for so don't expect 5 stars but they really do their best for the amount of people this place accommodates. Parking is available but interesting when full capacity is reached. Its a great place for those who can keep an open mind that are looking for a affordable getaway for including beach badges is just exceptional with home cooked breakfast across the street at Jimmys. It can be a little noisy at times because LOTS of kids are having fun and some adults let loose and drink a little too much sitting outside the rooms. I guess their people watching because there is no ocean views.
- Gabriel (6/5): - The room was very clean and neat. Walking distance to the boardwalk.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Property run down. Room needs upgrades
- Michael (2/5): - Bedbugs and unsavory characters! Steer clear!
- Stacey (10/5): - Nice for the cost typical older motel, but very clean
- Adam (4/5): - Street parking is free for disabled. Great location for the boardwalk. Staff was super nice. Those are the only positives. Do not stay here unless you like risking your life with every step you take! The floors along the outside hallways and inside the bathroom are all rotted out and only covered in paint. I almost fell down a flight of stairs twice. Blood on the pillow cases. Dead bolt doesn't work and it looks like almost every door in the hotel has been busted in and poorly fixed. TV didnt work
- Craig (10/5): Good Seaside Heights motel. - Always a good time at this place! Their pool is perfect... right on the main road so you can see all the interesting people walking by lol. Good staff members. Super close to the boardwalk, right across the street. It's what you would expect from a hotel in Seaside Heights. For the price, I definitely recommend this place.
- Sharlene (10/5): - This motel is the best in the area. The owner's are very nice and also very accommodating. It is the closest motel to the boardwalk. The pool and rooms are very clean. We stay here every time we come.

- Angela (6/5): Amazing location, pool needed a little TLC - The room and bathroom were clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Distance to beach and boardwalk were AMAZING! It would have been great if there had been some pans and cooking utensils that came with the kitchen so we didn't have to bring and/or purchase knives, cutting boards, pots and pans, etc. The pool is in desperate need of updating. Dozens of the tiles were falling off into the pool and leaving the sharp cement underneath exposed. But the kids had an awesome time and for the price we really couldn't beat the location.
- Randy (8/5): - Right on the boardwalk
- Lori (2/5): - The front desk staff was rude.
- Lori (10/5): - Great place to stay!
- Julie (8/5): - Better housekeeping services. We had no one check in on us to see if we needed more towels or wash cloths and we took out our own trash.
Front desk staff was friendly.
- Emily (2/5): - There was dried blood on the blanket. Roaches in the room next door. Fight down stairs. Drunk people past our room at 2am waking our kids up. Not a nice place
- lauran (2/5): - Broken walk ways, the bathroom was incredably small, with cracks in the flooring, shower stalls, black mold throughout. The drains radiated a smell tgat i have never experienced, the minute the bathroom door was opened we all gagged, mak8ng the bathroom non usable
- jennifer (10/5): - Very nice staff
Close walking distance to everything. Older motel but good for sleeping . I asked to be moved and the owner was very good about moving us . Thank you .
- Paul (8/5): - Location close to the beach.
- stacie (10/5): - great location park and stay explore by foot or bike to anywhere .. could use some updating but over all i will definitely stay again everything worked had hot water Ac worked tv worked there are police everywhere it is extremely safe there i saw police everywhere my whole stay i felt super safe
- Damaritz (6/5): - Outdated rooms the apartment one had a stove no pots no dishes no utensils location was great right across the street from beach and boardwalk overall it was ok
- Grace (4/5): Surfside Hotel Experience - My experience at surfside hotel was not so great when we came the locks were very hard to open, then the hotel was very dirty, there were cigarettes butts on the floor , wifi did not work. Overall 2/10
- Rita (10/5): Best vacation ever - Everything was perfect ..everyone had fun
- Gail (10/5): - The room was clean and worked well for a family having a refrigerator, stove and microwave oven.
The location was great and easy to get to the Boardwalk and Beach!
The only thing that was a bummer was the refrigerator was not working when we arrived. But, they replaced it quickly with one that was working well.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disgusting Motel - The woman that checked us in was rude and snippy. We asked for the beach passes and I had to surrender my drivers license. Now I had no ID if I wanted to go to the beach / boardwalk. When we got to our room we really wanted to walk out and ask for a refund. The couch was stained so badly that we asked for a sheet to cover it. The bathroom caulking / grout was filthy. There were long black hairs ( not ours) stuck to the tile on the shower. Clesrly not wiped down from prior guest. Box spring was dirty and ripped. Toilet wouldnt flush and had to be fixed. We rented an efficiency and there were no pans or utensils had we wanted to actually use the stove. The bottom of the sink cabinet was cracked and broken. There was no closet. The floor was dirty and we had to wear flip flops. Housekeeping never came by and we had to keep asking for towels. The most disgusting motel either of us have ever stayed at. We had driven 2-1/2 hrs and there was no other local vacancies. I hope people take this review seriously and avoid booking this dive.
- Suzette (2/5): - Dirty!! Horrible!! Gross!! People in pool right outside of our room until 2am. The room was dirty with black permanent marker drawn on it from a child. The bathroom shower was so dirty we had to wear shoes in it! Mismatched unsecured tiles that moved when you walked into the bathroom. If you are more than 175lbs you can’t even fit around the sink to sit on the toilet! I have stayed in older beach motels previously and nothing has ever been as bad as this. From 9pm until 4am the noise was so loud from people sitting out in front of their rooms drinking and carrying on. Oh and to top it off the tvs and WiFi do not work there. Even after complaining to the office nothing was done to correct it. Also the pull out couch for an extra bed smelled like old rotten bear and had throw up stains insideI would never, EVER, recommend this place to anyone!!!!!!!
- Larry (10/5): - Had an easy early check in. Very convent to the boardwalk. room a little small but big enough for us. Nice and clean. On site parking is a plus.
- Karin (2/5): - Great location but filthy
- Danielle (8/5): - We arrived Friday Aug 15th when checking in the lady at the front desk was amazing so nice and funny loved her! Even tho the place can use some updates, was very clean and smelled nice bed somewhat comfortable the pillow did suck and the bathroom was very small we asked for more towels and got them right away. Also asked for another blanket and got that right away fresh and clean the man at the front desk was also VERY nice! Also very close to the boardwalk like feet away!! We had an amazing stay and will be back again for another!
- siobhan (6/5): Okay for a few nights - Clean. Not updated. Typical, cheap down the shore motel.
- Vanessa (6/5): - The bathroom door was hanging on by one screw. The place could be really good with some updates
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great staff and pool - It was nicer then i thought it was going to be for the price. The pool was great. Staff was very friendly. But the bathroom had a bad smell the first night. I ran some water down the shower drain. It helped. Other then that it was nice. Closes to the beach and we could see the boardwalk from our door.
- francisco (8/5): - Nice place bene coming here for many many years
- Marianne (10/5): - Great place to stay! Staff was so friendly & helpful, so close to boardwalk & beach! Room was clean, comfortable & affordable-perfect for a beach vacation-highly recommend!
- Edward (8/5): - Had a nice stay
- Elisa (6/5): - It has a clean pool and the location is great, other than that its a run down hotel in seaside, just a place to try and sleep but not likely. Beds are rough, Jimmys Breakfast is right across the street
- Brian (6/5): - The room was dumpy and very outdated. And the tv did NOT work. I get it it’s just a room to sleep but it cloud of been a bit tidier. And I’m sorry but I DO expect a tv a simple tv to work.
- Devin (2/5): DONT STAY HERE - DISGUSTING !!!! DONT STAY HERE
- Michele (8/5): - Clean and great location!
- Sharon (4/5): - The beds were in bad shape
The steps were rotten in the middle
The door didn’t lock but they gave me another rm
Needs a facelift
- Cathy (8/5): - We liked that it was 1st floot and close to boardwalk
We didn’t like that the door was loose. The TV would quit part way through a show.
- Jeremy (8/5): - For what it is, it is perfect. Next to the boardwalk and right there with many options. Thank you
- Aletha (10/5): - Check in was friendly service wanted to stay extra day and staff was very helpful and pleasant and accommodating the cleaning service were very friendly and helpful with all our needs pool was very clean and maintained every morning brought 3 of my grandchildren for their first experience and they loved it have stayed here 3 times before and as always we were very happy will b back
- Marisa (4/5): - Floor was dirty upon arrival and there was a huge gap in between the ac and outside we could see right outside but we stuffed a towel in it so bugs didn’t come in. But the location was nice and the bed was comfy.
- Paul (8/5): - Perfect location.
Old motel.
Good value for price and location.
- Theresa (10/5): - It was nice
- Nicholas (8/5): Thumbs up for Surfside - Great location and friendly service. Rooms are very basic and could use a facelift but overall good value.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Better than I expected - Better than the average Seaside stop !
- Richard (6/5): - Wi-Fi did not work
- jason (10/5): - Had a good time there as I always do
- Martha (4/5): - Was extraordinarily noisy throughout the entire night-on premises and off. I left a day early. Room was clean but powerful smell of cleaning products. A/C made a banging noise every time it turned on and ran very noisy. The staff was pleasant.
- Justin (8/5): - Great location, close to boardwalk and beach. Staff very polite and accommodating. Rooms are small and dated, but great for a place to sleep.
- John (10/5): - The staff was great. The location was absolutely phenomenal. The pool was clean and sunshine over it all day. The rooms are nothing to write home about and they could use new mattresses but it was clean ! Location and cleanliness is given 5 stars. I would stay again.
- Francis (6/5): Did the job I needed to? - The best thing about it was very close to the boardwalk hotel definitely needs lots of updating
- Stephenie (6/5): - Parking- awful! Very small.
Staff- alright the man at the desk this morning was a delight
My room had no hot water- made for uncomfortable showers
Rooms do their purpose mainly- if you’re lookin for a room to just sleep in this is your place
- Kristy (6/5): - Loved the location. Parking situation was a little tight. There was mold on the shower curtain and some outlets in the room didnt work.
- Nataly (10/5): - I had a great experience and I went with my children and couldn't have felt any safer. The parking is safe and the walk to the boardwalk is just 2 min away.
- Yvonne (6/5): - .
- JODY (6/5): - 3 night stay. Nothing fancy but excellent location.
- Mary (8/5): - you can’t beat the location of this hotel. Large pool.
- Michaela (10/5): Recommend - It was very good!
- Stefani (2/5): - The staff was very very rude and not accommodating. We arrived room was dirty and the A.C was NOT WORKING .. Then finally they switched our room. To an even worse room the bed was legit broken in half & that A.C did not work. The lady in the front was so rude and yelling at me. The room sheets were filthy and hair in showers
- Robert (10/5): - The TV service was horrible all I could get was the food network they really need a regular cable TV servics
- Gabriela (2/5): - The woman in the office was very rude.
The rooms were old.
The pool was nice
- Nova (8/5): - Front desk staff was very nice to chat with. room 215, the bed farthest from the door sank in fairly bad but we just moved to the bed next to it and it was fine, other than that it was good for the price point with how close it was to the beach, no complaints. i would come back.
- Giulia (2/5): - The Surfside Motel was a huge disappointment and uninhabitable. It was dirty and disgusting. The sheets and towels were dirty, there was fecal matter on the walls, it was very noisy in the area, the smell of marijuana and mold was pervasive. My friend also had a room and there were holes in the walls and her shower didn’t work. A giant cockroach crawled out of the wall. I went to report it to the front desk and asked that they exterminate it. They had nothing, not even bug spray, and did not address the issue. The person there during the night said to check with the Glendale, which is a different motel. We asked for a refund and they refused. My friend left and paid for another hotel because it was so disgusting. I called in advance to make sure it was a family friendly, clean and quiet hotel because I was taking my children for a dance competition. The staff were not honest with us. They should really offer a refund for such deplorable conditions. The parking lot was very difficult to get in and out of and it was in disrepair as was every other part of this motel. I’m surprised Expedia would even offer it. It’s dangerous for young children. I would not recommend it for families.
- Brittany (10/5): - Very friendly staff
Woman at the front desk was great !!
- Norazon (6/5): - Place is very dated Maid service only came because we asked. Next day did not get serviced. Needs a major overhaul
- olivia (10/5): - Best location few steps away from the boardwalk, very friendly owner and staff, got beach tags and that was great! Pool was super fun and clean, hotel needs update but we got a great price so that didn’t matter, room had a small stove, fridge and microwave, will come back next year!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel room was clean, very dated. Many soft spots in the flooring. Pool was clean. Not bad for a short getaway.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great location but no TV and rough room. - The TV did not work, the fan in the bathroom sounded like an injured animal and my phone calls to the hotel were never answered. Messages were never returned conserning the TV. The sheets had someone else’s hair on it and some stains. The location is amazing and my young boys had a great time but I won’t use this hotel again mainly because the TV had 0 chance of ever working and that felt like a rip off.
- Brian (2/5): Dirty run down dump - Dingy dirty run down tiny room. Don’t know how this meets any codes to rent out . Not even a chair or table in the room. Half inch gap on the front door going outside . Ceiling tiles screwed and spackled on. Toilet was loose , can’t expect much in seaside but this was terrible.
- Urdania (8/5): - Near everything
- Sugeidy (6/5): - B- . Property needs updates but the location is very convenient .
- Nicole (8/5): - It was a great stay
- Kimberly (4/5): - Unsafe. The locks on room door were broken. No deadbolt. No chain. Outside is visible through door jams. Easy to see the door was definitely busted through, by force, multiple times. If someone wanted to get in, just needed a credit card to barely slip the lock.
Get what you pay for. It’s prime location. Across the street from boardwalk and beach. A little before midway. Pool was ok and clean.
Rooms, mattresses and furniture old, outdated, broken. Kinda gross.
$200 for 2 nights … worth it if just to shower and sleep.
- Marissa (8/5): - Big rolm
- Lucia (6/5): - Family vacation on a budget.
- Oanh (10/5): Great location for price - We always stay here it’s not the greatest it’s like any beach motel but we tend to love it here good location worth the money not too high, one time I left my wedding rings and they called me to return them very honest ppl if it’s for a quick stay this is the place for you
- Kim (2/5): - If i could rate this place a zero i would! It’s very noisy there at all hours. The rooms were not very clean. I lifted up the mattress and there was a huge stain. The beds were not comfortable at all. The shower in our room didn’t work. The front desk girl who checked us in I could not understand her and she was very rude. I checked out a day earlier because I couldn’t be there anymore. On the nice note the gentlemen who checked us out gave me my money back. But honestly it was my worst stay ever. If you want a quiet place to relax this is not it at all! Also people blast music, smoke weed/ cigarettes all over the property. NEVER AGAIN!
- Samantha (2/5): - This property was so terrible that my husband and I ended up cutting our weekend beach trip short and leaving early.
First, the property was completely misrepresented. There was no coffee maker in the room as advertised. The door did not shut properly. We had to use all three locks to keep it shut. There was a lot to be desired as far as cleaning went. The room smelled, and thank God that I had taken my own air freshener with us. The sheets were clean but the floors were sticky and dirty, there was mold in the bathroom, and the showers were so hot i thought I would get scaled.
Safety was another story altogether. This was not so much a motel as a dumping ground for the homeless and section 8 residents. You couldn’t walk downstairs without running into a group of people smoking weed and hanging out in front of the motel by the pool. It was very uncomfortable as they watched every move you made. The weed permeated our room all hours of the day and night and the obnoxious and profanity laden music blasted until 2 am. So much for quiet hours and a relaxing beach weekend. On Saturday, we went over to the beach for a few hours and when we came back, someone had obviously been in our room and the second monkey we left on the dresser was gone. That was the last straw for us and this is when we decided to leave. We requested a refund but was denied.
- Mandee (8/5): - Big bed, by the beah
- Jennifer (8/5): - Parking is tight
- Suhail (8/5): - Very quiet n clean.
- Dayne (6/5): - sheets clearly were not changed with hair that was not ours. chips in the drawers as well that were not ours as well.
- Peter (2/5): - The outside looks very good. However the room we were given had fallen tiles in the bathroom. We were then given another room. It had decaying plumbing, gnats all over, we we were there for three nights and NEVER received any room service (cleaning or even fresh clean linen). Overall, it was poorly maintained and just plain worn out.
- Astrith (2/5): - We had the worst stay at this place. If I could give 0 stars I would. The pictures we saw on expedia of this Surfside Motel were not comparable to the place at all. The room they gave us which was supposed to be an efficiency because we have 2 kids was out of a horror movie. It smelled like sewer in the room and it even had dead roaches in the drawer. I complained to the front desk about the smell to see if something could be done but not even air freshener spray could help it.
- Audrey (10/5): - Our room was clean, the appliances and tv was outdated but other than that loved it here
- Kris (10/5): - Gre
- Elizabeth (10/5): - I stayed for 4 days on spring/Easter break.. I have so much fun... Room was clean. The owners was really nice.. it was relaxing motel . I will stay again . Bathroom was clean and beds was comfortable. Motel is right there front boardwalk... everything is nearby... Good food good experience and good peoples
- Wade (6/5): - Floor was sticky
- Josef (10/5): Underrated beachside motel - After reading several scathing reviews of this place, I decided to try staying there for myself and I was pleasantly surprised. Clearly the poor reviews are coming from people who are accustomed to staying at much fancier, more expensive hotels. But for the value, it’s hard to beat its prime location right by the beach and boardwalk. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with all of my questions and even gave me some great local restaurant suggestions. The room was clean and smelled clean. The shower had hot water, and yes the bathroom may be small but it wasn’t an issue for me. The room included a microwave and fridge and a TV. There is a typical window A/C and heater as well. I would absolutely stay here again.
- Eric (4/5): - Ok
- Michael (6/5): - black mold
- Verified traveler (2/5): Don't trust the Pictures - I stayed here for an event based on its price and location, not expecting a luxury experience, but after seeing the pictures online, I thought it would be decent. Unfortunately, my expectations were far from met.
The walk to my room on the 3rd floor was unsettling — it honestly felt like the floor could give way. Once I entered the room, the smell hit me immediately, a musty, abandoned-house kind of odor. The sofa was in poor condition, with visible cuts on the armrest. The door had noticeable gaps around the edges, allowing light and a draft to seep in, and it was dented all over as if it had been repeatedly punched. The worst part was the bed: it was broken, uncomfortable, and made awful crunching sounds every time I moved.
It was so bad that we decided to check out early and drive home, even though it meant eating the cost of the room. If this is how the hotel is off-season, I can't imagine paying peak prices. This was a major disappointment, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
- Wade (8/5): - 👍
- Edward (10/5): - The ocean
- Dawn (2/5): - The door barely closed, you could see light . through the entire edge of door. Bed was broken, shower knob was broken and hard to turn water on and off, noone asked if we needed extra towels which were hair towels not body towels, many soft spots in the flooring outside of the rooms. The only positive was we were close to the beach. The rooms were definitely over priced for the conditions.
- Cassandra (6/5): - It was ok
- Kerry (4/5): - Sheets were dirty on check in staff were rude showers were broken only cold water
- David (2/5): - The room was in disrepair and smelled terrible. Loose tiles around the shower. Toilet seat fell off. Broken bed springs. Gaps in the wall around the ac unit. Shortened our stay. Only stayed the first night because we arrived late and had pre-payed online. Couldn’t wait to leave. One very good thing was the proximity to the boardwalk. Across the street from an entrance ramp. Pool looked nice but we didn’t stay to enjoy it.
