Guest Reviews
- Thompson (10/5): Relaxing place - Quiet Nice food and staff
- Mast (10/5): - Beautiful place
- Joy (8/5): - Friendly staff
- Sandra (9/5): - The pool was lovely, my child enjoyed the kids pool as well. The breakfast was good. I didn't know, wasn't informed that the restaurant would be closed on Easter Monday, so we we're unable to have breakfast before packing up to leave. Our room was opened up by staff unannounced while still in there more than 2 hours before check out time, then more than an hour before check out time they came back with the keys and opened the door on us. They apologized, however it was not pleasant. The power also went that morning.
- Ross (8/5): - Restaurant friendly staff, good restaurant with excellent food.
Very responsive to requests. The Wi-Fi was very spotty and difficult to use consistently.
The air conditioning is somewhat loud. We turned it off at night but that made the room a little bit warmer than we would prefer.
- philippe parisee (10/5): -
- Katarzyna (9/5): - Miła obsługa, smaczna kuchnia serwująca zarówno śniadania, lunche jak i kolacje.
- Susan (8/5): Loved our time in San Ignacio and the Rolson was ok. - On site restaurant and bar. The food and drinks were ok and staff wonderful. The property is a long walk to town for other restaurants and market- a VERY steep hill to walk back.
- Ralph (10/5): Just a wonderful place to stay while in San Ignacio - Exceptional staff at front desk, dining staff, cleaning staff….and the food was really exceptional! Far exceeding my expectations.
Will recommend this hotel and restaurant to family and friends. Not much to say here, except an elevator may be nice for those who have difficulty climbing the stairs.
- Tim (5/5): Good for a night or two. - Staff was Great!
Rooms clean. Rooms were small.
Road noise and dogs barking were a problem.
WIFI not real good.
- Ana I (8/5): Recomendable - Muy amables, muy rica la comida y bastante limpio. Escaleras, y quizá un poco alejado de la ciudad, aunq un taxi al centro son 5 dólares y eso compensa ya q el sitio es muy tranquilo
- Tina Schmitt (10/5): The food was absolutely delicious. The pool was really nice. Could’ve maybe used an umbrella here and there. The staff w - It was in town close to everything. The restaurant was right in the building. The pool was fabulous.
- Eduardo Piquero (8/5): Increible!

- Daggett (10/5): I'll be returning. Felt like home. - The food, the drinks, the pool, the staff. Everything. I had to leave.😆
- Mario (8/5): -
- Blossom (3/5): It's not worth the price and you could definitely find somewhere better for that price. - The bed was soft and it came with 2 $1 waters. The Belizean breakfast i ordered , the chicken was cold so they microwaved it but charge $20. They close off facilities early and there restaurant also closes early. They charged $30 dollars extra for an additional person for a 2 bedroom with 3 persons. They also charged full price even though i used a website with discounts.
- Manuela (7/5): -
- T (9/5): Awesome - The staff was very accommodating eventhough we were late because of transportation issues. Also our dinner was delicious! Everything was wonderful
- Justin (9/5): -
- Joseph (10/5): - Rolson Hotel was a perfect place to stay while exploring Belize for a week vacation. The restaurant and bar were delicious, the staff was amazing and I would love to come back and spend more time here. If you are traveling to San Ignacio, make Rolson your place to stay
- Stephen (10/5): - Great hotel, convenient to get you with an excellent restaurant attached and a nice big pool. Great hotel, convenient to get to with an excellent restaurant attached and a nice big pool. Beautiful rooms are very complete and well appointed. It was a very hot day when I visited, and the staff made the thoughtful gesture of turning the AC on in the room before we arrivedIt was a very hot day when I visited, and the staff made the thoughtful gesture of turning the AC on in the room before we arrived. The staff are very well trained and friendly. A great hotel to relax and recharge batteries!
- Ioannaev (8/5): Very good - Nice and clean rooms, friendly staff but a bit far from the center.
- Anthony (8/5): Very good -
- Patricia (8/5): - Rolson provided a great base for our travel in the San Ignacio area. The downtown is not too far but not really an easy walk away so you’ll need transportation like a taxi or car. The rooms are well priced and tour guides know it’s location so can accommodate direct hotel transfers. Very handy having a restaurant and bar and pool to dip into after hot day touring!
- Nicholas (8/5): - The condition of the room is the only thing keeping the Rolson from a 5 star rating. The room was clean and spacious compared to other places I stayed while in Belize. The bed was comfortable and the water was plenty hot with good pressure. There was both a fridge and safe in the room, neither of which worked. The room felt a bit dated as well. None of this was a deal breaker, particularly since I was only there a night, but the rating suffers a bit for it.
This hotel was situated right near the highway which made it a perfect stop on my way back from visiting Tikal. It's not in the center of the San Ignacio business district, but in a relatively quiet suburban feeling neighborhood.
There is off-street, relatively protected, parking but keep in mind that you are competing with restaurant customers for that parking. I ended up eating dinner elsewhere that night and got lucky to pull in when someone was pulling out. Otherwise I may have been stuck waiting for a spot or finding parking on the street.
I did have breakfast at the restaurant which was delicious and very affordable.
- Julia (8/5): good value hotel near town - very good breakfast and well priced.... convenient for town and with a nice pool... its a cute place for the price stairs and we had to carry bags
- james (10/5): - Great food and staff.
- Nicholas (9/5): Great hotel and food but poor restaurant service - Nice rooms, swimming pool and friendly hotel staff Restaurant food was excellent but service extremely poor. Be patient and don’t expect North American service
- william (10/5): - Super great food excellent staff very nice room
- Debra (8/5): It was a good clean place to stay. It’s not expensive. I’d go back. - The view was very nice. Being up on a hill makes it breezy. I loved the pool. The shower wasn’t great. The food service was very slow. The food was good though.
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional -
- Babette (8/5): - The staff was key positive of the hotel. There were so many stairs to get anywhere, but the staff was very helpful in carrying luggage when we arrived.
- Kevin (8/5): Very good - Good location. Friendly staff.
- Renee (9/5): Beautiful location with the most wonderful people and food, transportation was difficult but the front desk was always w - Clean rooms, excellent staff, wonderful facilities It was further from downtown than anticipated. To get into town you had to walk 30 minutes down a steep hill. There was also no soap in our bathroom whatsoever
- Donnie (10/5): - My family of eight stayed at the Rolson for three nights. It’s close enough to the town center that we walked there. The service was very good. The food at the restaurant was excellent. The staff was very friendly and did everything to make our stay there pleasant. I would definitely stay there again.
- Rachel (10/5): - The entire staff of the hotel were extremely friendly. They made every effort to ensure that our trip was a pleasant experience. It was obvious that the staff had great pride in their work because everything was so clean and nicely put together.
- Gregory (8/5): Really liked the hotel although the food could be better - I thought the food was mediocre, from Caesar salad with so much dressing that it looked like creamed spinach and uneatable to mushy overcooked pasta.
- Anne (9/5): Superb - Comfy beds
Great views
Restaurant
Pool
Great staff and service
- Michael (8/5): excellent hotel for a couple days in San Ignatio. The staff are friendly and the restaurant is great - restaurant on site was great and very nice to have after long days touring. Beds were comfortable and hotel staff were very helpful and kind. hotel wifi was not the best and it was difficult to get hot water in the shower. it was disappointing that the pool never seemed to be open either.
- Sarah (9/5): We enjoyed our time here and all the staff were very nice! One waitress in particular answered tons of questions for us - We liked the pool attached and that waitresses would serve you there! Nice to get served drinks and food by the pool. Also, the restaurant was awesome. I had the same dinner two nights in a row because I enjoyed it so much. The shower head was quite finicky but there was a note on the wall about that at least.
- Georgina (8/5): Very good - The best thing of this hotel is the restaurant…. Great food and service.
- Hoy (10/5): Exceptional - The atmosphere and the room was stellar I liked all
- Krissy (8/5): Very good -
- Ryan (10/5): - The rooms are very clean and staffs are friendly
- Ishbel (8/5): Modern, Comfortable Stay - The hotel was clean and comfortable with a nice pool. Beds were the most comfortable of our trip. Beautiful view overlooking San Ignacio. Perfect hotel for travelers looking for modern comfort. Location was a little far from local style restaurants and shopping without a car. We did walk into downtown but took a taxi back up the hill for $10. The onsite restaurant is convenient but I didn’t enjoy the food - too bland for my taste. My partner however loved the Mexican style carne asada.
- Hernandez (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (9/5): Great value. Not directly downtown but quiet - Very nice property.
Pool and restaurant also very nice.
Rooms were clean and all the staff were nice.
- Molly (8/5): Great value for money, everything we needed - Provided towels and a face towel, which was great. Food in the evening was lovely. Close to Cahal Pech which is definitely worth a visit. Sightly out of town, which wasn't a problem for us to be honest.
- Cameron (1/5): A dysfunctional property that needs a major overhaul. - The restaurant is actually pretty good though service is sometimes unresponsive. The safe didn’t work. The bathroom sink didn’t work and barely dribbled after “maintenance.” The air-conditioner was so loud we couldn’t hear the TV over it. The front desk were rude, surly and downright unhelpful. Despite the manifold problems with the property, their main focus is putting up ludicrous signs like “Don’t urinate in the swimming pool” and “$200 fine if you lose the key.” They also leave tip envelopes in a room when they didn’t even clean the room.
- Raphael (8/5): Nice low key hotel, with attentive staff and excellent food - Nice low key hotel, with attentive staff and excellent food Rooms were a little small
- orlando (10/5): - The staff was always on top of everything, a special shout-out to Jacob. Pool was an excellent refresher after visiting the ruins nearby.
- Mary (10/5): - Was able to get off the local bus right near the hotel
- Jasmine (10/5): - My stay was fantastic! The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, exceeding my expectations. The staff was warm, welcoming, and extremely accommodating. I’ll definitely be back for another stay soon—I highly recommend this hotel!
- Reyes (10/5): It was so restful and I will be back. - The staff were wonderful and helpful, the room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The onsite restaurant food was excellent and I will definitely be back. I would have preferred the room having cable TV as I like watching the news at night but it was not a big deal.
- Mckayla (9/5): The price is good - The pool and the view The food
- Phil (7/5): Good - The room was comfortable Despite a good breakfast being advertised the hotel decided not to offer breakfast on our second morning. There was no where nearby. We had to get a taxi to and from the hotel to get breakfast. Not good enough really.
- Alan (7/5): Good - Restaurant was only open fir breakfast one out of three days . Owner seemed to please her self
- Andrew (8/5): - People were very nice
- Meisha (2/5): - I really don’t like when hot water is advertised but there is none.
- Vessela (1/5): Deeply disappointed. - Good photos on the site. The restaurant is unreliable. The day before I ordered breakfast for 7am, it arrived at 7:25am. The personnel did not bother to apologize for the delay. Very unprofessional. They added random charges to the bill without any explanation.
The rooms have no space for anything, and they smell. Instructions for everything, but things do not work. AC is very laud and impossible to sleep. Room service picked up a towel from the floor and put it for use. The hotel is far from everything.
- Drayton (10/5): Short but sweet! Super friendly staff, even if I wasn’t able to tip much. - The rooms had everything I could have wanted or needed. The restaurant has some simply amazing food! No complaints here!
- Gary (10/5): Comfortable & Quiet out of town location - Rooms are big, clean and comfortable. Rooms have a fridge and coffee machine which is great for keeping your drinks cool and having a coffee early on a morning before tours. The hotel has a nice pool, and a nice restaurant attached. It is in a quiet area close to a couple of supermarkets. The property is far from the centre of San Ignacio, if you don’t mind walking its 25 mins from the hotel down hill to the centre of town. However 25 mins up hill is a struggle in the heat, so a taxi is a must most of the time. There is a bus stop where buses from Belmopan to Benque and Benque to Belmopan stop not too far away from the hotel, which is useful if you’re coming from either direction.
- Muhammed (5/5): Passable - Restaurant and pool What made the stay unpleasant was beyond the hotel power. Road construction and power outages
- Chiara (1/5): Bad - Pool No hot water , service and staff
- Ann (7/5): Good -
- Kelly (6/5): - This property was okay- the restaurant was decent the pool looked nice, the room was clean. There was parking and it was a close DRIVE to the middle of town and the market. We went to the ATM cave tour and our hotel was on the pick list. Our room had a window AC unit and it was very loud, we would turn it off to speak to each other-- it was 105 outside so it had to be on. you could not safely walk to the market or the area where the shops are. It is in the middle of a residential area off the main highway. We thought we were going to be walking distance to the market, shops and restaurants but it would be at least a 15-20 minute walk.
- Aidan (9/5): Perfect stay in San Ignacio - Incredibly friendly staff that made us feel welcome and at home. They gave us perfect recommendations for stuff to do in the area. They even let us keep our rental car there an extra night while we went over to see Tikal. Very tasty Mexican themed restaurant we ate at 3/4 nights and for every breakfast. Drinks were also delicious. I highly recommend their signature margarita and pina coladas. The rooms were comfortable and included everything we needed. The pool was lovely after exploring in the heat. Definitely recommend staying here!
- David (7/5): Good time - Pool Small room
- Loïc (7/5): Good - The staff is very nice and helpful, they helped us order taxis (which is not that easy).
The room are big, there is A/C, the pool view was quiet. We had to fight a cockroach in the bathroom on our last night, and the place is getting a bit old in general
- Gloria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Trevin (7/5): Good -
- Morey (8/5): Very good -
- Elisa (8/5): Very good -
- Drusilla (9/5): Superb - Staff was friendly and helpful. A little out of town.
- Lavonna (6/5): I would not recommend it. - The Front Desk Manager, Minnelli was the best. There was bottled water available in the front office. The pool was really nice. Honestly I think it’s a fire trap. Been repaired with electrical tape. When I told them the refrigerator was not functioning/cooling - the response that how those refrigerators are like that. I know better.
As an older ladies- we had to carry our luggage up and down three flights of stairs by ourselves.
- Joan (9/5): Superb -
- araceli (10/5): - Friendly staff, clean room, stairs to climb no elevators for those thinking about it. Restaurant with great food.
- Roger (10/5): - The Rolson is superbly managed. The rooms are super clean, and the restaurant is among the best around San Ignacio, with great food right on through to dessert. Awesome drinks as well…
The wife and I recently purchased property nearby, and we now we plan to make “The Rolson” our base in Cayo during the construction of our new home. It’s that good!
- Kier (10/5): - If you are lucky enough to be in Belize you'll know differently places different standards. This place has a wonderful staff, helpful and friendly. The hotel has a beautiful pool views and the restaurant has a great selection of fresh foods.
- Christopher (9/5): Superb - The access to the pool. The breakfast was too little for the price.
- Uyanga (8/5): Very good - Room was clean decent. I liked the pool and the restaurant was good. The receptionist upon arrival wasn’t friendly/unprofessional. Kept us waiting for a while to check in chatting with another guest ( it wasn’t that they were talking about guest’s needs and etc., but rather joking and etc.) She should have made an effort to politely end the talk as the customers were waiting for her, arriving from far tired and hot. Didn’t ask if we need an official receipt for the hotel (not bank card charge payment slip, but hotel receipt). And later in the day when we made inquiries she was rude and unpleasant.
Next day staff were very good though!
- Sonia (8/5): Overall good money for the value. - Very cordial staff, good food at the restaurant. Very clean. The property is a bit dated, tv selection very limited, they might as well not have tv.
- Joe (8/5): - Too far from town
- Dawn (8/5): Excellent value and would stay there again - Food was excellent. We ate our meals at the hotel when we weren't on excursions. Loved the view from the restaurant! The air conditioner was noisy so we turned it off at night.
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Rafael (8/5): Very good -
- Markou (6/5): Pleasant - Air conditioner was very loud
Tissue box had dirty napkins in it upon arrival
- Fred (10/5): - Everything was great except for some dogs barking in the middle of the night. Kind of par for the course in that town, so not unexpected.
- Marc (9/5): Good place to stay, but quite a walk to the center - The Rolson Hotel is located on the edge of the town, in a neighborhood near the road to the border. Although the walking distance from the center/bus station to the hotel does not seem long on the map, it takes almost half an hour on the way there, and the return is a bit faster. The road to the hotel goes up considerably! The room was fine; excellent beds and spacious bathroom. You can have breakfast in the restaurant for a reasonable price and we also had a good meal there in the evening. When booking, you can choose between rooms on the pool side and (more expensive) mountain side. It would be good to mention that on the pool side the road runs to the border (with noise from trucks, especially in the morning). The walls of the hotel are rather thin.
- Robin (9/5): Comfortable stay and nice to have a restaurant onsite after touring all day. - Within walking distance to town, friendly staff and great onsite restaurant. Pool area was nice and enjoyed the patio table for card playing. Didn’t really have a pool view as stated. No hot water in the sink and had to request a hairdryer which we shared with our friends.
