Guest Reviews
- Anthony (4/5): - Chalets are dirty, a/c and microwave didn’t work, toilet seat was broken, sink was clogged, sewerage smell outside, clueless youngster staffing front desk, very neglected property definitely don’t recommend this hotel much nicer properties available at $25 night…
- Matt (10/5): My most fav hotel in Langkawi - This was the best place (and kind of still is) I'd always go for in Langkawi. Quiet and greenery.
However things probably are a little bit running down since the pandemic. I get to know that they have shut down the tent and birds area. They have also dried up the ponds. And, I am the only one of two customers this week.
Upgraded myself to an Aircon room, and surprisingly they have installed water heater. Services are super friendly as usual.
The place isn't in its perfect state compare to previously. But I still love this place. And hopefully, with our support, one day it will come back to its best golden state.
- Frank (8/5): Tsgarcottage - Rthko6t
- Milan (10/5): Satisfied - We were very satisfied, míče and clean rooms, only 3 minutes from beach, possibly of renting scooters, shop, not far from food truck centre and etc.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I didn't like that they have no cabinet or a wardrobe to put in some clothes
- MUSTAFA (10/5): Ok - Ok
- Syahirah (10/5): - Its a close compound filled with beautiful landscape of mother nature. Location is close to the beach.
- RAYMOND (8/5): Pretty awesome place - There was a bird garden inside the hostel, which was pretty cool. I saw a few monkeys outside my room's hanging around the tree during my stayed.
- SagarKhairnar (8/5): - This cottage has a great value for money. This is very unique and if you are looking for something different than normal hotel go for this. They dont provide TV and kids are not allowed here. The staff is very helpful and your stay will be very close to nature. It has a walking distance with beach and cenang market as well and great restarnats surrounding.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing hotel
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Yes fantastic
- Norazniza (10/5): - Nice and simple
- xy (10/5): great location, wonderful stay - highly recommend. bathroom is wonderful - spacious and clean. (but no water heater). room is not too small. also has a lounge area.
location is great - away from the bustling cenang beach but still convenient as it is only ~5mins ride away or ~15mins walk.
- Kendon (10/5): Peaceful - This was my eighth stay at Tstar – and I've already booked my ninth. The quiet solitude of this hideaway is magical. Top marks in every category.
- Peter (10/5): Amazing place - This place is very nice the trees and nature are amazing and also the position is the best.
- Sam (8/5): Great place but get a room with ac! - It was a lovely stay here, rooms were clean and you really felt surrounded by nature, plus it was extremely quiet. It was a short walk to multiple bars and restaurants and the smaller beach was a 5 minute walk. Only downside was we had one of the downstairs fan rooms and it was almost unbearably hot overnight (I think it was actually hotter in the room than outside!), plus they put some strange towelling material on the bed instead of sheets which make you even hotter. Had quite a lot of trouble sleeping because of this, even with the fan on all night. Also, walls are paper thin so you can hear every footstep the people upstairs take.
- Syahmi (6/5): - Ambient surrounding, relaxing mode on! Perfect for nature goer.
- Shaik (8/5): Not a choice in Rains - Nice ambience around , but definitely not a place during rainy seasons.
Place is full of insects , ants n mosquitoes.
Staff is very friendly n informative.
- Mustafizar (6/5): HOTEL.COM PLZ TAKE ACTION TO IMPROVE UR SERVICES - So far so good... nothing much can we ask for the price... but we have to wait merely for more than 30 minutes due to your mistake which the hotel nvr receive any emails from your team. Sadly, the hotel also complaint ur bad services too.
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Mai Noodlehead (10/5): Gem of the Island - A definite gem, the Tstar is a fantastic place for couples and friends to stay. Their no children policy makes for a peaceful nights sleep.
My friend and I stayed in one of their tent rooms which is in the Tstar Garden. It was beautiful! Nature, nature everywhere. They have birds, monkeys and a few other creatures there whose noises add to an already calming ambience.
I will definitely stay here again and recommend to all friends.
- Andrea (10/5): Quiet and laid back. - Everything was fine. Thank You.
- Rene (8/5): Nice natural place for people with low budget - The Cottage area is really amazing. For nature lover perfect place to stay. Nice garden, lot of ponds with fishes and frogs. Can enjoy in the evening the sound of nature.
The room is very small but OK. The only thing which is REALLY not nice is the sound from upstairs neighbor. You can hear every step.
- Verified traveler (8/5): mooie tuin..rustig - prima hotel...rustig
- m (4/5): Très moyen - Je n'y retournerai pas
- Verified traveler (4/5): Schöne Atmosphäre, Stinkendes Zimmer - Mäßig
- Maximilian (10/5): Immer wieder gerne! - Super Aufenthalt gehabt!
- Trinh (8/5): Natural h - I stayed 1 night at the hotel, downstair fan room. It's clean and natural that suitable for who want to rest in a quite space. The hotel is only 3 mins walking to the beach
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nature, peaceful, best valued - Such a well maintained place with all sorts of nature things. Ponds, plants, frogs, toads, birds, salamanders, and etc are all around in sight. If you're a nature person, this could be the best you can have. The individual rooms are wooden themed, excellent designs, light rays came through coloured glass panels on the windows and lit up the room gorgeously, a nice way to be woken up by morning sunlight. The down parts are tight spaces, rooms are really warm during the day, and really poor soundproofing. Oh yea, there's no heater for shower.
- Gibson (6/5): Nice spot. Near to the beach and quiet. - Enjoyed the stay in the Garden Tent Room. Some minor maintenance needed for d toilet lock and light. Tent zipper need repairing. Overall, I love like to go back there again ;)
- cherrie (8/5): Nice and cozy, good for short stay and near beach
- check in at 3pm is very late for visitor who come by ferry from Pen at 0830 am. This is too late.
Check in at 1pm is acceptable.
China visitors talk very loud at nite.
No lite at the entrance for 1st floor guest. eg S12. T7.
Not so welcome at the receptions.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotels - Love the view and calmness. All the staff are friendly too and the place we very clean!
- Kendon (10/5): Lovely oasis - Even the tent accommodation at Tstar is lovely. Not surprisingly, the tent garden is just as quiet and mellow as the cottages. Over the past 12 months I've also stayed in the Ground Floor Cottages (with fan) and the Upper Floor Cottages (with AC) and, quite honestly, I'd recommend all three options. The simplicity of this place is enchanting. You are given soap and towels upon arrival and then you are left alone for the duration – and all guests appear to happily comply with the signposted request to keep noise to a minimum. The tranquil vibe and chilled attitude is main reason I've chosen to return to Tstar so frequently.
- I.P Freely (6/5): Jokseenkin mukava hotelli - Ensimmäinen hotellimme Malesian Langawilla ja olimme ihan puhki lennoista.
- sophie (6/5): Peaceful but - It was nice staying at here. Relax and nature surrounded. I booked room with fans and I was tought that it will be okay on the night, since during the day we had full of activitives. But its too hot in night. I recommand you guys to book ac room.
- Kendon (10/5): Always reliable - This was my fourth stay at Tstar Cottage, and it definitely won't be the last. These cosy cottages contain very comfortable beds, lovely bathrooms and fairly private decks within a green environment. The staff is always helpful without ever being intrusive. Their no-TV, no-kids policy is very wise.
- Jean (2/5): Hospitality is non-existent - The Room is quite cozy, the cottage is nice but that's about it.
We had the worst service so far in our trip. No smiles to be seen at the reception.
Our room didn't have internet connection (room K1) and as we need it for work, we asked for help, we only had an 'hm, yes' type of reply. They know it is an issue and they just say YES. How is that acceptable? I also asked for a solution and they finally spoke more than one word and said,... it is a known issue, it does not work very well with Apple devices (I felt robbed as it says otherwise when we booked the room). They invited us to use the reception connection which is different from the rooms. It made sense to see about 5 to 10 people sitting on the stairs at reception as they do not have tables around.
To wrap it up, I left my prescription sunglasses in the room on my last day and went to Koh Lipe/Thailand. Once I arrived in Koh Lipe I immediately tried to contact the Hotel by email (no reply), by Facebook page (no reply) and by phone. I asked the assistant from the ferry service to help and he did call them a couple of times and they finally answered the phone. I finally managed to speak to them and they confirm they have my sunglasses at the reception with them and then I offered to pay so they could send it back to me, but they said they would not do it. If I wanted the sunglasses I would have to go back and get it. This is terrible service and plain lack of professionalism.
I still don't have my sunglasses back.
- Orlando (6/5): - This is the most interesting accommodation I've ever stayed in. Very simply, it's a bunch of tents immersed in a bird sanctuary. I was taken back by the set up and enjoyed every second of it. My girlfriend however found that having a shower in a mosquito infected, unclean portaloo was an experience never to come back to!
- Fakhar (2/5): Very bad service - Ahhh where to start. I had booked tent first it was looking adventure. But when i went in, the bed was on floor so you are exposed to every dangerous species and bed was very uncomfortable. And if it's a sunny day. You can stay in tent as it will become so hot. Bathroom is not good. Smells and very very small. Next day i booked a ground floor room. That was nice. Bathroom was also good. Staff was rude. There was an incident and staff girl started yelling at me. I was surprised. May be she was angry because i booked my room online rather coming to her. No service in room is provided. You will have to rent every thing from them. Extra fan or mosquito oil or iron. Every thing. So i think it's better to stay In a good hotel than staying in this hotel and then renting every little thing u need.
- Emily (8/5): Quaint hotel. Near to a quiet beach. - First impression: Very interesting.
Room:-
The steps going up to the room is a little narrow and steep. Room is kinda small but cosy. Not much space for big luggage. Bathroom is spacious it. Can get stuffy and hot (near sauna like) during the day. Has a standing fan and thankfully air-con works perfectly so the room was cooled down in no time. It's a bare minimum with no drinking water/coffee-tea facilities provided, TV or refrigerator or in-room safe or breakfast. The bed and pillow covers are clean but the blanket is quite small. But can rent extra blankets and a refrigerator and stuff as well from the reception counter. Breakfast is not provided but we could order breakfast from the shop next to the reception the day before if you want it to be delivered to your room.
Reception:-
Staff are friendly. Can booked activities e.g. island hoping and snorkeling and be picked up the next day at the hotel entrance. It's not a 24-hours reception. They are usually close by 12am. There's a tiny shop by the reception that we can buy bottled water, instant coffee, snacks, bread and order our breakfast set for the next day. Breakfast is delivered very promptly as per our requested time and the toast did not came cold (a plus point).
Surrounding:-
There's a herb garden but we didn't had the opportunity to go look see around. The area is clean and can see staff cleaning always. Car parking is by the road side and can get quite crowded at times.
Overall a good choice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cool self-serve concept - Great little cottage for a wonderful stay on Langkawi Island. 3 minute walk to the beach. Convenience store located at the entrance of the cottage grounds (all necessary amenities, scooter and car rentals). Lot's of local wildlife on the grounds too (centipedes, birds, monkeys, geckos, birds). Only a 20-25 minute walk to the main beach strip. Highly recommend, would stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Alright for the place - The place is alright, and quite near to the central shopping area, and beach. just a 8mins motor ride.
Day 1 there was greeted by a rather long faced reception, though she wasn't showing to me, but it's rather unprofessional to show your unhappy face to the customers. Not to mentioned that they basically didn't check their towel. I was handed with 2 wet towel... and only discovered after I get to my room. Duh.
The price for this area, no tv, heater, and mosquito net(unless you are willing to rent from them), I don't think it's worth the hype. as the wall is rather thin, you can hear people going up and down, even the next door, or rooms below you. OMG. anyway, if you don't have any neighbour, great place. but if you do have, it will be hell. Moved to the homestay just 2 min walk away from them, Nas VillaRia Langkawi, 90 ringgit per night, so much better. cable tv, and no mosquito. good.
- Laura (8/5): Great relaxed cottages - Fantastic customer service, very chilled vibe. Really close to town and easy to get a taxi to go on tours
- Ameen (8/5): Comfortable with reasonable price - Everything was perfect, but you have to be careful about mosquitos !! In the reception you can rent musqutios liquid. Overall you must try it at least one night
- MD SAD (8/5): Very nice motel, but need a water heater - Very pleasant. Good privacy and scenery for relaxation. Will come again next time.
- A K (8/5): - Clean and quiet place, helpful staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): Retreat - Wonderful retreat to relax and see the beautiful sites of Langkawi island.
Recommend hiring a car!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Paradise! Nature! - This place is awesome! So into the nature. The bathroom and the balcony is my fav! Only cons is mosquitoes. That's all. Overall it's an awesome place to relax.
- Laura (10/5): - Nice!!
- KIRILL (8/5): pleasant hotel for budget travellers - It was nice hotel to stay during our budget honeymoon, all necessary facilities locates just within hotel entrance
- Daniel (8/5): Beautiful getaway - I'd recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a really nice, relaxing place to stay. It is quite far from the action though.
- Desu (8/5): Must stay atleast one night - We enjoyed a lot
- Lindsey (8/5): Relaxing cabin stay - Self-service concept, so must rent any extras. Thin walls, so can hear everything. Nice, small rooms perfect for 2 people. Great jungle views from the newly-renovated cabins.
- Lindsey (8/5): Cute, comfortable jungle cottage - Self-serve concept is nice. Helpful staff, great location in the jungle. Monkey's and other people are loud in the morning. Can hear everything from your cottage.
- Dominic (10/5): Amazing hotel quiet far from local town - amazing rooms, small but perfect, it's a long walk to small town of cenang but it's very close to the beach, it's cheap and perfect for single room, really good staff
- only issue is no hot water but value for money makes up for that (10/5): fantastic value for money - great place in a good location
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good budget option, no bells or whistles - Wifi is shoddy outside of reception area. No housekeeping is offered.
It is a good budget option but we went during Chinese New Year so they were overpriced at this time.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Check-in delayed for 2 hours (5pm) as room not rea - Environment and concept is good. Front desk service is poor. Check-in delayed more than 2 hours (5pm) as room wasn't ready. Requested to compensate by extending the check-out time was being rejected.
- REMI (8/5): A really nice treehouse - I appreciated my 3 nights in my treehouse. It was nice to wake up and watch the monkeys in the trees. As I didn't leave any food, none came to my cottage. It was a lovely surprise to discover that we were also 3 minutes away from a beautiful wild beach with beautiful sunsets. We enjoyed the teh tarik and the food of a close by restaurant.
- Alex (8/5): Nice and cheap - Very cozy and silent hotel. Concept of this hotel - closest to the nature.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Pretty place, but some unexpected surprises - The cottages were beautiful, however I was extremely frustrated when I wasnt allowed to check into my room, until an hour after check in time. I had been to the hotel in the morning to stor my luggage, then returned arain at noon to see if I could check in. i was told that I must return at 3 to check in. I went back to the beach since I couldnt go to any resuratunt in my wet, sandy swimsuit and waited. at 330 I returned as was told that my room still wasnt ready and had to sit in the lobby for another 30 minutes before I could check in. The receptionest knew i was ready to check in for some time, they should have ensured that my room was going to be ready at 3:00 since they knew I was going to be back at that time to check in. Very frustrating. Other than that, the area was pretty, but this hotel is a 'self service', meaning they dont clean up unless specifically requested, and they charge a fee for new towels, sheets, soap, etc. Hotels.com did not specify this, and if you are a guess long term, keep these extra hidden fees in mind.
- Nursyazwani (8/5): Silent and privacy - The hotel is very good especially the privacy they have except for the room is too hot and the bathroom is having prob with their water..
- Karolina (6/5): Basic hotel - It's very basic hotel - no hot water, no cleaning, no air-con (unless paid for upgrade). So if you're ok with that, it's close to the beach and great restaurant/bar is next to it.
- Robert (8/5): Great hotel in a quiet location - The hotel is about a 30 minute walk from Pantai Cenang - the main beach area - but we didn't mind that. There is a great restaurant nearby - Cactus - the food is lovely, with good portions and cheap prices. There is a beach a few minutes walk from the hotel which is really quiet. You can also take a short walk to Airis Hotel and use their pool for the day for 10 Ringgits. The hotel itself was very quiet (apart from the monkeys and frogs!), comfortable and clean. We would stay here again.
- Miguel Ulisses (10/5): Great place to stay! - Very beautiful hotel with charm huts situated in a quiet área near to the beach. Great placer!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good price, quiet location - The hotel can't be arrange my early check-in at 10AM, but it close to the beach.
- Verified traveler (10/5): a cottage that i look forward to stay - it was a great experience and i will come again bcoz living in the city is totally opposite with this staying. i felt the green and peaceful environment.yet it is cheap and affordable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): 1 night stay at Tstar - staying for 1 night. wake up at 130am because of the noise from neighbour. No water heater. toilet floor is slippery. overall the room is cute.
- Cory (10/5): Peaceful stay just a few minutes from the beach - It's like a small retreat, off the main road so it's very quiet. Not a far walk from Cenang Beach. We've stayed here a couple times and we'll continue to go back!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok - They have monkeys, the rest is normal for a budget chalet.area is quiet but the guests are not, so better bring your ear plugs.
- Dony (8/5): Calm and quite stay - The hotel was very calm and quiet and worth the value for money you spend. The staff was very helpful and the rooms had enough facilities. Highly recommend for back packers who need a quiet place to sleep and relax.
- Aziemah (8/5): greetings from the nature - The room was clean but a little too dark for my liking. It's hard to find a local breakfast cafe unless you walked for about 10-15 mins. The receptionist is friendly and helpful. Most of the time, the nature (monkey, frog, fish etc) will greet you. Overall, a nice stay and will return and try the spa room.
- Alagess (10/5): Hot Shower and Water Pressure - Nice environment and very relaxing. The water pressure in the bathroom not so strong, if they can add hot shower it will be really good.
- Tarek (8/5): Pleasant - We had an enjoyable stay at this budget hotel. Excellent for young hearted people & campers. The cottage is not exceptionally large especially if you rent a mini fridge and mosquito net. The staff should be more assertive in asking the guests to keep the noise level down as we could hear conversations next door and across bungalows at all odd times.
- Manohara (6/5): Good Cottages with lot of mosquitoes. - It was good. Onething they should really work on is mosquito and insects control. I was bitten by it very badly. It took 4 days to heal.
- chih ping (4/5): save money ! ? yes - too noisy
- chih ping (4/5): but for save money it is a yes - too noisy when someone walking upstairs !!
no hot water
toilet is stinky
- Nicholay (6/5): Beautiful, serene nature budget hotel - Tstar Cottage was comfortable enough. But there is no room cleaning, meaning if you stay for a week, you have 1 towel for the whole stay, unless you wish to pay for laundry. It also means no replenishing of soap, shampoo, toothpaste etc, not that that matters as you only get one small hotel-size piece of soap. What was the most disappointing, was the lack og proper drainage in the bathroom and slippery tiles. There was constantly a pool of water in one of the corners which could provide a breathing ground for aedes mosquitos. There was no mini-bar, no hairdryer or tv etc. and the accommodation is very basic. Extra items like mini-bar and mosquito net etc. can be rented on top of the room fee. If you can live without this, Tstar Cottage offers a very cosy on-the-verge-of-the-jungle-esque rainforest atmosphere which we found unique and very nice. The staff was friendly and nice but not overly service-minded. There is also no direct parking for Tstar Cottage which was also somewhat of a hassle for us as we had a rental car. All in all it was a nice place which we would recommend if you need a bed to stay in without any craving for luxury. But it needs a bit of detailed maintenance work. Overall a good experience.
- clement (8/5): quality stay in nature - our stay is marvellous. the room is nice. but one thing annoy me is that everything need to be calculated such as hot water and mosquito net. it will be awesome if they can provide this.
another thing is that the a/c plug wasn't user friendly as it is only applicable for foreign type of adapter.
- VINCENT W S (8/5): Pleasant Stay - Everything's fine. Except the toilet damp smell. Toilet might become mouldy after some time. Suitable for single, couple or with friends. Not for family with kids.
- Muhd Azuan (10/5): Good to Stay (honemoon especially) - It was really great!! The natural environment is very pleasent..
- Agus Susanto (8/5): Excellent - Great
- andre (10/5): Amazing - Amazing staff. Always smiling and helpful .3 minutes from a quite beach and 15 minutes walking from the busy beach.
- Katie (10/5): Great concept - beautiful cottages. - TStar has a great concept - you pay for the basic room, and add on extras as required. This is great as I'm happy not to have the room serviced every day and save the money, and the same with toiletries - I usually have them with me anyway so would rather pay less and not get them from the hotel. They provide towels and toilet roll, internet and a fan. The bed was really comfortable, and the area so quiet and relaxing. It's about a 20 minute walk to the main strip, and there is a little shop on site. Would definitely return.

We had all what we wanted.
Excellent location just 5min walk to Tengah Beach, good organised, beautiful bungalows - its just a perfect holiday spot.
It is definitely worth what it costs.
It is just a very good concept what they have at T-Star.
