Guest Reviews
- Janne (8/5): - Friendly owner
- Verified traveler (6/5): Medioc Quick Stay - For a quick overnight stay it was mediocre. There was better options near by. Security was decent even though had a corner room selling drugs throughout the night
- sarahcD9930TP (8/5): Check it out - Despite the fact that this old-style motel is rated the no, 2 hotel /motel in Brawley, you really have to work to find it on Trip Advisor. What a shame! The rooms are clean, comfortable and modern. Ours ( two double beds) had a pretty good size fridge with a separate freezer department and a microwave, so you can shop across the street at the grocery store and nuke yourself a meal. Best of all, for us, is that it's a one- story motel so you can park outside your room and moy have to walk upstairs. I must admit that we liked the fact that there weren't a lot of other travelers here, so it was very quite. But the nice people who own it deserve more business. The only things that keep it from 5 stars are no in-room coffee and no charging ports. But it does have a few washing machines near the office that aren't obviously coin operated. In a couple more days on our road trip, that could be a big plus.
- Nancie (8/5): - Loved the refrigerator. Good freezer space. Bed was a little to hard for me.
- ANNA (8/5): - Room was clean. I was surprised to find a microwave and refrigerator. Room lwas comfortable.
- Gail (6/5): - It was a very old building, and the office really showed its age, but inside the room, it was up-to-date and very clean. Did have a spider and one cockroach in the bathroom. Refrigerator and microwave, but no coffee in the room. Big dirt spot where the pool once was and one very old car out front. Strange that there were no cars in the parking lot, then bus dropped off a lot of farm workers. They were very quiet, though, and I had a great night's sleep there.
- Cecelia (2/5): - I would not stay here. The pillow cases were stained and the pillow itself looks as if it had been dragged through the roads and shoved back into the pillow case, not to mention there was a DEAD ROACH on my bed. At that point I didn’t even want to look or search the rest of the room. Me and my family packed everything up and left. The owner did offer me another room but at this point I just wanted out. If your traveling with little ones or family oriented I would not stay here.
- Armand (10/5): Good dove hunt - The hotel room was very comfortable. The AC unit worked well as did the TV and the refrigerator. The microwave did not work but was not needed. The bathroom and shower was very acceptable. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay. Recommended hotel for upland game hunters.
- Douglas (8/5): - If you are looking for price over amenities it is fine… most importantly it was clean.
- Ida (2/5): - I rented this room and there was roaches inside the hotel. The water in the shower was low due to a filthy shower head. Not a place I recommend
- Donnell (2/5): - The hotel attendant was nice and friendly. Check-out time was convenient. Didn't like the uncleanliness, the unsavory characters that were staying at the inn. Unsafe and did not feel secure at the place. Would not recommend this hotel.
- Frank (8/5): My spot to go to when in town - My stay was pleasant. The rooms were clean and beds were pretty comfortable. Everything worked and no bugs in sight which is one thing I’m concerned about. Area appears questionable but so far, my stay been great with no problems 👍👍
- Alissa (10/5): Great place! - Super clean and effort has been put in to update the place.
- janet (10/5): - excellent front.desk service. very friendly.
- Arlene (10/5): Desert Inn Stay - We stayed for one night passing through. The room was very clean and we felt safe at all times.
- Olivia (10/5): Great customer service room was clean & nicely remoded - Only problem toilet very short needs a regular size
- pantelis (4/5): - when we got there ,man on the property said no reservation on file, we got the room though and it was not what I expected, smells strange and didn't feel clean,I got a headache from a strange odor, we decided to leave early .
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This place is not at all what it describes. My employees both got bed bugs all over their bodies. Area did not feel safe. We had to book almost 45 min away for a decent hotel.
- Pascal (10/5): - Room is clean, appliances are recent and in good order. Bathroom is extra clean. No-frills motel, but in much better shape than many others. We will be back !
- Verified traveler (10/5): - For someone who needs to be in the area for the night, I'd say this hotel has everything that you need. It's clean, it seems as safe as possible, you can park right next to your room, all the basic amenities, and a price in ybe range with others.
- Martha (10/5): Nice and cozy place in the heart of town! - The place is in a good location. Very clean. Comfortable bed and chairs. Appreciate the Great price!
- Alan (8/5): - Old building with new windows, new AC and new beds. Good location. Good deal for the price
- Carolyn (8/5): - Loved the bed and bedding. Nice towels and travel toiletries were adequate.
Multiple cracks in sink caused me to think “hair” BUT NO hair present on sink.
Leaves and some debris swirled in an alcove outside our rooms but the trash receptacle nearby held it easily. Didn’t pickup leaves though.
Nice to havre 2 chairs in the room, even though room was small. Did I mention the bed was wonderful?
The UNPLEASANT - was the thundering base music from someone’s vehicle, before sleeping AND AGAIN at 5:20 AM in the morning. If I were the innkeeper, I would require all of his Hispanic and other workers, to silence their boom boxes both evening and morning, as a consideration for all guests.
- Annie (10/5): - Comfy bed! So refreshing to have a good mattress at a small motel. My joints appreciated it. Very clean room-cudos to housekeeping.
- Trent (8/5): - Clean, well maintained, family run business. Helpful staff. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
- Rina (8/5): - One story building. Well keep, quiet place, across street grocery store and chinese restaurant
- Sharon (10/5): - I LOVED the Javelina that escorted me from my room to the car early this morning. Property was very comfortable and I would definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I have stayed here twice in the pass month. It was pleasant. If you forgot to pack something or just want some snacks it's just across the street.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect spot, wonderful room, and super staff! Desert Inn is a great stop when traveling through California
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best Find for the Best Price - I've been staying here for the past several months on weekends and I am absolutely content. I travel alone and safety is important to me and the rooms are always clean, comfortable beds, friendly staff and most importantly I feel safe. I always recommend a great stay here for the best rates you'll find anywhere around.
- Karl (8/5): Don’t judge a book by it’s cover - I’m not sure if it was undergoing a face-lift, or it was not well maintained, but inside the room, everything was satisfactory. Due to the low rate, there weren’t many niceties like a coffee maker with coffee in the room. The good sized refrigerator & functional microwave were nice. My stay was worth what I paid.
- SHAWNCEY (10/5): Desert Inn Brawley - I love the layout of the hotel, open area for parking. Located in a perfect area for shopping and eating. Inside the room was clean, bathroom as well. Beds are super comfortable slept wonderfully after my long drive.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly owner prking spots where avail la and across the streeet from grocery store and Starbucks.
- Jackie (4/5): - long term leasing tenant became a problem for quietness.
- Brian (10/5): Clean, Comfortable, and safe!! - We were concerned about it but there were so many good reviews we thought we would take a chance on it. We are glad we did. We have no complaints. It was safe. Grocery store across the street. Most of all it was CLEAN!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Front desk was about as hospitable as a muffler pipe. Room stinks like I don't even know how to explain. If I'm ever going home with bed bugs, it's gonna be from this stay.
- Stephen (10/5): Happy - Great. Very comfortable beds. Very convenient. Von, Bank ATM, and a decent Chinese restaurant just across the road.
- Lucy (8/5): One night family reunion trip. - The owners are so nice and hospitable. Brawley was HOT but they made sure our room was blasting the A/C and cool when we arrived. I had trouble with the TV but the owner came to our room and fixed the problem.
- Robert (4/5): Dissatisfied - Not as advertised! No where near an 8
- Stephanie (6/5): Don’t drive out of your way! - This is a BASIC motel. It’s old. They don’t have a lobby - it’s an office. There are no amenities. Not even a coffee maker in the room. In fairness, there was a fridge and a microwave. But this missing coffee maker...
All that being said, it was clean. Smelled a little funky but again, old. And carpeted. I’m not sure why it is 8.4. Anyway it was inexpensive.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Check in was rude clerk did not like the fact I used Expedia, had two rooms different name for rooms, my room had dust, dirt, cobwebs behind bathroom door and behind refrigerator and table. No amenities. Checked out early due to job requirements and was charged for a day we did not stay. Terrible experience overall. Notifying BBB about this location and any other venue
- LAURA (10/5): Better Than You Think - I chose to stay here because of the reviews and I was not disappointed. Very clean rooms, easy check in and friendly service. Defenitely staying here when in town..
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This property is close to many tourist attractions such as Joshua Tree, Salvation Mountain, and the Imperial Sand Dunes. There are plenty of options for food as well. Be aware that the property owner does charge by the number of people staying. Each additional person is an extra $10!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice hotel. Recently upgraded rooms are nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked that although it looked kind of ugly on the outside, it was very clean and comfortable on the inside. Goes to show not to judge a book by its cover.
- Andy (8/5): - Check in was a breeze and the manager was very nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, comfortable, and good, friendly service.
Cannot be beaten at the price.
- Deanna (10/5): Clean!!! - Look, there are not fantastic places to stay in Brawley...My husband and I just needed a place to rest our heads for the night on the way to Niland. When we pulled up where were weary but we were checked in by the nicest man (checked in at 1AM!!!) and were pleasantly surprised that the room was clean, bathroom sparkling and the bed-super comfy! Rugs could be replaced which would greatly help condition of the room but overall and for the price a nice, safe and clean place to get some shut eye!
- Newbury-Roamers (8/5): Great stopover - We stayed for one night on our journey from Joshua Tree to San Antonio.
The host was very helpful and gave recommendations for places to eat & to visit.
Rooms were very clean. Truckers stop here so it has to good. Highly recommend this as a stopover.
- Lisa M (8/5): Clean, Comfy and Great Location - We were only there for 1 night and the motel was clean and comfortable and quiet. The room was kinda small to fit 2 suitcases, and we could have used more bath towels.
Good location, right across from a grocery store, a Rite-Aid and also Starbucks.
Checking in was a little confusing since there were so many people helping, I didn't know who to give my info to. All were very friendly though.
I would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - amazing beds!
- Ed (2/5): - I showed up and rang the bell nobody showed up. I waited like 5 minutes and still nothing. So I rang the bell and waited more, until this guy in pajama pants, slippers, and a raggedy shirt opens the door. He gives me my card then I go to my room. I turn the light on and it’s super dim and can’t really see good. I did not feel comfortable at this inn. Later I found out my family was at a different hotel and that they had paid for a room for me and I tried to get a refund. The guy did not want to give me a refund and I had not even stayed for 30 minutes. I told him I had driven about 3 hours for my father in laws funeral and that I was not going to be able to stay but he did not care and did not want to return my money. I was unhappy with his customer service, so I returned the card and left to a much more safe feeling hotel with much better customer service, best western..
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very adequate for our needs. Very helpful and friendly staff.
- Tim (8/5): - Good place to stay for overnight or a few days. Quiet and had what I needed....comfortable bed and hot shower.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Wife claimed room smelled like a nursing home: fetid urine.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There were two issues with the Inn, neither of which may have been directly the responsibility of the innkeeper. The first issue was that the Inn was overbooked,. The overbooking was, according to the owner, caused by the late arrival of some beds. The second ussue was that someone knocked on the door at 4:45am, awakening us.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet, cheap, clean room and friendly staff. I was allowed to park my bicycle inside the room.
A supermarket right in front.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a nice, quiet well-run place that was not part of a chain. Good location and restaurants and stores nearby .
- AYTON (8/5): Travel trip - Room was fine location ok
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I was a little surprised how clean and comfortable the room was, for the outside it looks like a typical motel but the rooms were very clean, big comfortable bed and bathrooms looked new. We just needed a place to sleep. It had a fridge, microwave and a Vons and Starbucks across the street. I turned on the AC fan and it drowned out any noise from Main Street so quiet as well. So don’t be dissuaded by what you see on the outside the inside is very good.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I didn’t end up staying here because there was a person with possible mental illness staying in the room next to me and I didn’t feel comfortable with the layout of the building and the general feel of the area. The woman at the desk was nice enough to refund my money but she did try to talk me into taking another room, which wasn’t really that far away from the original room and then she also tried to make me feel bad or that I was wrong for not wanting to stay there because the person who I was uncomfortable with is “from the church” and so they “can’t do anything about it” and also she challenged me when I mentioned that I had worked in health care. The bottom line is that I didn’t feel at all comfortable there. I am 36 year old female, maybe men would have less of a problem. To me it felt like an unsafe environment and I am glad that she refunded my money but I didn’t really appreciate the argument or the excuses or the attempt to make me feel guilty for not wanting to risk my safety or comfort. Best wishes to you and your family.
- kristin (6/5): - It was a good stay, there are alot of illegal immigrants walking around I did not fill comfortable leaving my vehicle there.
- dumpling56 (10/5): Basic, old school but clean, comfy bed, perfect! - We chose this motel based on reviews and were not disappointed. Excellent value for money - king sized bed very good, with good quality sheets. Bathroom old fashioned but clean, with good shower. Perfect for our needs!
- CJB (10/5): - Super-clean older property, my favorite in the area. Great value.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room was musty, was super stuffy from mold allergy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Thumbs up - My stay was good, room is nice & clean, I love it how the parking is right in front of the door :), Will stay here again! :)
- Teresa (10/5): - Best place in Brawley to stay. VERY clean. Quiet and comfy.
- Michael (8/5): Brawley 2018 - The room was clean and comfortable. Perfect for the overnight trip in Brawley California
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Noisy, no warm water, toilet ran all the time.
- Tim (10/5): - Staff was wonderful! Great linens and large flat screen. Conveniently located by grocery stores and restaurants.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice manager - Sam recommended the best route for me to see the Imperial sand dunes. I lost my key card and he gave me a replacement, no questions asked. It's an affordable, comfortable place to stay in Brawley.
- Stephanie (6/5): All you have to do is smile! :) - The room on the inside was great, very clean and tidy. The outside and presentation/property not attractive. The front office was not professional nor the staff. The office manager didn't greet me or smile. Actually, there was little to zero talking involved when checking in. Customer service rating 0%. I won't ever go back again. When it's cheap, it's cheap!
- javier christian (10/5): Great! - Great motel, great stay, great service.
- Mike93108 (6/5): Incredibly nice customer service - In all honesty, the gentleman who runs the hotel is about as nice and caring as you could ever ask. It is clear that he puts a tremendous amount of time and energy into making the hotel the best that it can be. But that said, it still is only a mediocre hotel. It just needs a major remodel. But it is clean and they have tried to make it look nice. A three star rating is in accurate reading for the hotel. But that said, a five star rating is what the manager deserves!! If I come back to the area I would stay here predominately because of this great manager.
- Saul (10/5): - Great service!! Clean and quiet!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The place is nice but the owners aren’t. I understand you have to pay extra for more people to stay in the room but instead of communicating with me I came back from work to a locked room at 3am. Also, I made a mistake with the date of check out. I had booked to check out Sunday when I meant Monday so I left for work early Sunday morning and came back again to a locked room. I feel they could have contacted me when they see all my things left in the room. They were not nice during everything. They need better communication & customer service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean, Comfortable, Good price - The staff were friendly. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Exactly what I needed at a good price.
- richard (10/5): Clean and quiet - Clean and quiet. Not fancy, but comfortable. Lots of food within walking distance. Nice people running place
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room is very clean, water is hot for shower, and WiFi works well. Location is great too, have Vons market and few restaurants just cross street. The Only downside is the thin wall.
- USAFAMMO (10/5): Perfect for us! - A group of us went to Baja for a charity off road trip. On the way from Utah, we decided to ride our Side by Sides at the Glamis sand dunes. I looked on the internet for a motel in the nearby town of Brawley and founf that the Desert Motel has really good reviews and was close to restaurants and shopping. We stayed there for one night and was totally satisfied with the cleanliness of the rooms and the adequate parking for our Pick up trucks with trailers. We are going on the same ride again this year and will be staying at the desert Motel!
- peresegarra (8/5): Nice Bedroom!! - Great place for a quick pass by. Clean room, big TV, clean bathroom, and comfy bed. We came by really late And the manager received us with a great service! The hotel is 25 min away from Salvation Mountain!
Thank you Desert Inn!
- 228royn (10/5): Great Overnight stop on our tour of Salton Sea! - Stayed 6/12/17 overnight. Rooms were ready early, the manager was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were a bit small, but clean fresh smelling, everything worked, large flat screen TV, airconditioning worked great, bed was very comfortable. Vons Market/Starbucks across the street. Everything was perfect for a place to overnight and get a fesh start. Hotel was quiet. Great deal!
- G7931TTkarenw (8/5): Great value and would gladly stay here again - The room was a bit smaller than I expected, but it was absolutely clean and comfortable. The bed was great. The walls were a bit thin (we could hear the TV in the adjacent room), but it was fine with earplugs (which I always wear anyway). It's a great place to stay if you're going to the Salton Sea. I will definitely stay here again if I ever return, and I've already recommended it to my birding friends.
- joanf983 (8/5): Better than it looks! - Spent two nights here while exploring the Salton Sea area and found this motel to be extremely clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable, AC worked fine, fresh towels on both days. There was a hairdryer and a fridge but no coffee maker unfortunately. However, there was a Starbucks in the supermarket directly opposite which was a bonus. The staff were very friendly and helpful. In all, good value for money.
- arizona-mark (8/5): Outstanding value - this place is probably the best value anywhere in the area for 100 miles in every direction (except into Mexico). the property is very well maintained and the rooms are large and spacious. our stay was FAR better than the "Crown" motel in El Centro which is a slum compared to this place.
i highly recommend this motel.
- gilladj (6/5): Basically Basic - This was our third stop on our 2 month 3100 mile cross country bicycle ride. This hotel had to have been built in the 60's because the rooms were tiny. The room was clean and the bathroom was actually large compared to the room.
Hey everything was functional and all we needed was a bed. The price was less than $60 with tax.
- F3500BDkevink (10/5): Great room for the price! - I arrived late at night and Sam got me checked right in He was incredibly friendly and made the whole process painless. The room is nothing fancy, but it was exceptionally clean. It smelled very good, the linen was crisp and clean, and the bed was super comfy. The flat screen TV has cable, including HBO. Just an all-around amazing value. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
- V2622MRdianac (8/5): Would highly recommend. Great place, people and price. - If you are looking for low cost clean and comfortable accommodation in Brawley or the area - this is the place. Great management - so helpful and friendly. Simple furnishings but in good condition and very clean. Fridge and microwave - daily change of towels if I wanted - but didn't need them. Complimentary soaps and shampoo - which I didn't expect. Even an iron, ironing board and hairdryer - although I don't think they have them in all rooms as a standard. I had a brand new Hilton Hotel quality bed - amazing! I have stayed here 5 times on extended stays (more than 2 weeks) - and always more than satisfied. Convenient spot - within walking distance of some restaurants - and Vons and Rite Aid just across the street. Will stay there again when I am back in the area.
- SBSQT (8/5): Trip to Salton Sea - I've been to the Salton Sea area a few times and this was my first stay at the Desert Inn. This motel is as good, if not better, than the near-by motels I've stayed at and the price is right if not better (particularly for someone spending more than a night - which was me at two weeks). The room is simple but clean a fine size and there is no riff-raff (which was greatly appreciated). There is nothing fancy about this place but it hits the spot.
- XterramanLosAngeles (10/5): Slab City, Salton Sea and Salvation Mountain - Hotel looks newer than in pics, very clean , quiet and great staff. Great location, safe area nice flat screen TV and amenities, refrigerator, blow dyer, etc. Relax, save money and enjoy comfort of a great room and friendly staff.
- saltydog1937 (8/5): BUHS Class of 1961 Reunion - First appearance of motel is deceiving as they are slowly improving outward appearance. We were pleasantly surprise with the cleanliness of the room and the friendliness of staff. Also the price was the best in town. Close to grocery store, fast-food, donuts shop, etc. If visiting Brawley again would stay there.
- NZBarry (8/5): Helpful owners - I spent the night here last week. The unit was very clean, there was a flatscreen TV and the bed was soft without being too much so. There was a useful nook with a desk and chair and good wifi - the only thing which would have made this space better is a light. Across the road is a Vons and a couple of restaurants and a donut shop with good donuts.
I was very impressed with the sound-proofing - a whole bunch of trucks backed in so their drivers could stay the night: all I heard of that was the warning beeps as they reversed, In the morning, I was surprised to see they had all left, as I had not heard a thing.
The best thing about the motel is the people running it. I left my phone in the unit - something I discovered about an hour later. They found my phone and did their best to make contact with me.
- ocotillo (8/5): Excellent choice in Brawley - We stayed here because we were looking for a and reasonable option in Brawley for one night. We are birders, and were looking forward to birding the Salton Sea. It was indeed, and very good choice. The rooms have been remodeled, and are immaculate. The bathroom is tile, floor to ceiling, and good hot water and pressure. There is even a small fridge and a microwave...surprising at the rate (about $50 a night). It doesn't look like much from the street, but you will be surprised when you look into the rooms. The only drawback was that, even though it is set back from the Main Street, we could hear traffic noise from the loud trucks going by. The speed limit is not fast (25 or 35mph), but the shape of the units (horseshoe) must catch some of the echo from engines. The fan muffles most of it, and we would definitely stay here again. Loved the birding nearby!
- florianr108 (10/5): Very good place to stay - As a last minute booker looking for cheap prices I strongly recommend this place.
The manager greeted us very nicely and took a lot of time to explain everything to us. The room was really comfortable and clean.
- 294lisam (8/5): Dependable place to stay with everything you need in walking distance - I've been staying at this motel for about 3 years now when I am in the area. Whether it is a weekend, a long weekend, or a 7-10 day stay.. I have found that this place is just right sitting at the west end of town. Its a little better compared to the east side of Brawley. It is family owned, relaxed setting, and all ground floor parking. Its a simple place, however if you are in need of a hot shower, a good night sleep, and a comfortable stay.. This is a good place to stay in Brawley, Ca. The Desert Inn is comparable to the Town House Suites, however it is much safer and cleaner at this Desert Inn.
Safe Travels :)
