- Fionnuala62 (10/5): Perfect Getaway in the Inishowen Gateway - Just after spending a fabulous weekend in the Inishowen Gateway whilst in Buncrana at my Uncle's 90th Birthday. I really enjoyed my stay in the hotel. The staff are the best - they are all so pleasant and helpful. My bedroom was spotless and very comfortable...and you can make tea & coffee in the room. The food offering in both the restaurant and bar are varied and delicious. The breakfast is excellent and there is a great choice. There is entertainment at night in the bar if you feel like some music and if not you can sit in the relaxing lounge and have a drink. I love that you can go on walks directly from the hotel to the Shore or Ned's Point or up the town to browse in Hegarty's or other nice shops .... Or you can stop in O'Flaherty's for a drink and a chat with some of the locals! The hotel is in a perfect location with gorgeous views of Lough Swilly. I will definitely be back. Highly recommend.
- G5349OTbrianb (10/5): Beautiful warm, friendly hotel. - This is a beautiful hotel located on the edge of a seaside golf course with stunning views. The staff are warm and friendly and went out of their way to make our stay special. The rooms are well equipped and very comfortable. The Couples Date night deal made for excellent value.

- Connector721421 (10/5): Two Day Break in Inishowen - My wife and I enjoyed a two day break in a very comfortable and spacious room with a good view over the adjoining golf course and sea; room was clean and quiet.
Breakfast was superb with multi-choice dishes including cooked breakfast.
Evening meal menu was quite extensive and over the course of two nights we as a couple sampled several of the dishes; food was not haute cuisine but was nonetheless excellent plain fare. There was a large lively bar. Staff were helpful and friendly.
We used the very decent sized pool and could have used the Spa but chose not to. Free Golf was available at the 9-hole links course beside the hotel.
The hotel is located at the mouth of the Inishowen peninsula and is a good centre from which to tour the area.
- conorm226 (10/5): Good stay - Great stay, lovely hotel layout, desk was very friendly and helpful. I was at a wedding at the red door so stayed here. Would recommend.
Pool was good.
- L7872FHshirleyh (8/5): Nice hotel good location - Lovely Hotel. Great food great staff. Only thing that ket it down was having no disabled access into the adult swimming pool only laders.
- Michael (9/5): Very relaxing - The room was good size with sea view good facilities. Restaurant was not open
- FullMoonFire (10/5): Lovely family holiday - Weâre just home from a lovely stay at the Gateway. Happy to share my experiences for others:
Pros:
- incredibly lovely and welcoming reception staff - couldnât be nicer!
- lovely hotel with excellent views over the lough.
- excellent location to get to some outstanding Donegal beauty.
- breakfasts were buffet Irish breakfast, porridge, cereal and pastries. All excellent.
- the Roast of the Day at dinner was delicious, the desserts of the day, also lovely.
- onsite parking was great
- great pool for the kids and very close to lots of beaches and a great playpark.
- the spa was fabulous. My massage with Linda was a highlight of my trip.
Cons:
- family rooms donât have a view at all, but made up for by a huge room (411).
- a little maintenance needed on the tiling around pool and peeling paint in our bathroom.
- my biggest gripe - shower curtain over narrow bath. Ends up sticking to you in the shower. Eek. But hardly the worst thing in the world.
Overall, lovely hotel and great experience. Thanks to all the staff!

- Discover12057031719 (10/5): Inishowen Gateway hotel always amazing!! - My family have been going to the Inishowen Gateway hotel for about 25 years now. The staff have now become part of our extended family! And the hotel has become a home from home. Weâve had many milestone family breaks at the hotel to include my daughterâs wedding in 2018. Weâve seen many changes to the hotel over the years weâve been going. All good I have to say. My late husband always called it his âHappy Placeâ. It started off with just the two of us going, then my kids, my parents, sister and her family and all of my grandchildren. Any time weâve stayed itâs always been amazing but over the years it just gets better and better! From your arrival through to departure, they can never do enough to make sure that your stay is very comfortable. The rooms are beautiful and have everything you need to make it a comfortable stay. The views from the sea view rooms are beautiful. The spa is fantastic if youâre looking to have a nice treatment when youâre away. The food is really good and has quite an extensive menu to suit all tastes. Youâll be so full up with the extensive breakfast menu, youâll probably feel satisfied until dinner. But if youâre a bit peckish in the afternoon the bar does really nice light bites. And if you like swimming thereâs the added bonus of the pool and the gym. The area of Buncrana is beautiful and so quaint. The extensive seating and walking areas all around the sea front. With coffee docs dotted in all those places too which is perfect if you just want a nice coffee and to just sit and chill at the sea front with the amazing views over Lough Swilly. If you like getting out and about. Swan Park is a beautiful area to explore with its beautiful waterfalls and wee fairy houses dotted about the area. The kids will love it. The hotel offers something to young, old, active, disabled individuals and the area of Buncrana definitely offers something for every one too. Including an extensive golf course if thatâs your passion or if itâs to become a new passion! If youâve never stayed at the hotel before you definitely should give it a go. You will not be disappointed! Our most recent stay was the last week of March 2026 for four nights and we hadnât been there for over a year as I was recovering from major surgery. We usually go two to three times per year, so we were having major withdrawal symptoms. It was great to be back and we hadnât another amazing stay and the staff made it as though weâd never been away. Thank you so much. Iâve more major surgery again at the end of April so as soon as Iâm fit to drive again we will definitely be back for another brilliant stay. I want to give a specially mention to Aishleen, Gemma, Sandra, Sharon, Miread and of course all the staff from the housekeepers to the waiting staff the chefs, the bar staff everyone is amazing and can never do enough for you. Sorry if Iâve spelt your names wrong! Thank you once again for another amazing stay. See you all soon again.

- BarbaraG264 (10/5): Great hospitality, spotlessly clean, excellent food and facilities - Stunning location and views. We could have sat looking at the sea all day. Plenty to do in the local area and the hotel food and staff were excellent. Hospitality galore and spotlessly clean rooms. The pool is an added bonus. Very highly recommended.
- Pauline2012 (10/5): Central location great hotel - Fantastic hotel great location lovely room very spacious and clean throughout the hotel staff were friendly and helpful the pool sauna and steam room were great would recommend and will certainly be returning
- Z7260DKraymondb (10/5): Fabulous value hotel - My friends and I booked the Sunday slumber package which was fantastic value. We had bed breakfast and a 4 course dinner in the restaurant. Everyone absolutely loved all the food which was delicious. The staff are so attentive and the service is really fast. They really canât do enough to help. We had two adjoining rooms which was fabulous for four people. It was like one big room with four beds and two bathrooms so perfect for us. Lots of plugs and mirrors snd the rooms are spotless. The beds are really comfortable too. I canât recommend enough. Thank you so much to everyone who made our stay so enjoyable.
- soniamL4499OC (8/5): Disappointed with meal - Great location. Rooms were so clean. Reception staff were really friendly. We ate in the bar there was 8 of us. Starters came at the same time as mains so main was cold by time I ate my starter.
- Annette (9/5): - Like the location view of the sea staff lovely đ No jacuzzi lol đ
- Shay Doherty (7/5): - Very comfortable bed and food from the bar was amazing
Reasonable priced for stay and grub No fridge in the room which was a shock but everything else that we had was brilliant

- Staycation57 (10/5): Just us on another much enjoyed visit! - Wedding Anniversary Treat. We were booked to go today 26 March but the forecast was (correctly) awful so the handy cancellation policy used to book in a week early and the weather certainly did not disappoint. Nor did the hotel - usual high standards of friendly service, cleanliness and good food. We got a real upgrade to room 304 with sea view, sofa and fridge and brand new decor including a big refresh in the ensuite. Despite a bus tour being in the dining room table service was very speedy and just the sort of food we enjoy - roast dinner hard to beat after days spent walking. However, now of mature years I can no longer finish what's on my plate! Portions are very generous. Breakfast is great. We have mixed feelings on the new tea and coffee self service. I do enjoy a morning cappuccino but there is still something nice about a pot of tea on the table. The first morning there were little milk jugs at the tea point, which I always consider a bit of waste in any hotel, but after that there were pitchers of milk, more economical. So DIY granola, compote, yoghurt, egg, bacon, and a chocolate croissant to finish. What a start to a great day's walking! Back soon.
- paulinegB6344CT (10/5): Fantastic hotel - Great location lovely hotel helpful friendly staff great swimming pool sauna and steam room. We had a lovely breakfast good variety we also had an evening meal if I had to give 1 negative about my experience it is the portion sizes I could not finish my meal and it was amazing
- F3284QJpetec (10/5): Great place to stay - The Gateway is a great place to stay. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food is top notch. It was great to see the Lough View Bar reopened and hope it will remain as the hotelâs main bar going forward.
- lauramP1214QB (10/5): Great night away - It's in a good location The staff were brilliant and the rooms were nice and clean
- Robert (10/5): - I used their wheelchair which was great as my Husbands mobility is bad Everything was good

I have to give a special mention to Annie, on reception, who was so helpful in directing us to the places of interest to see. The location of the hotel is ideal for visiting the places of interest in the surrounding areas.
The food is top notch and plenty of it! Breakfast and dinner were really good. We went with the over 55s special offer and it was extremely good value.
If I could give 10 stars I would. Thank you.

- H7302EVveronicab (8/5): Over night stay - Hotel rooms were lovely , have been done up nicely since we last visited. Ate in the bar it was tasty & very reasonable staff were very friendly.it was a stormy night the hotel & rooms were nice & warm only complaint would be when the doors opened there was an awful draft in the bar we had to move seats problem solved đ..giving it was such a bad night they would've been wise to close the sliding doors . A lovely hotel a great spot as a base for touring the area.. The hotel has a leisure centre & a swimming pool ..we will be back ..
- 320mareed (10/5): Concert - Lovely room warm and clean breakfast lovely staff as always very polite and helpful
- Fredpaul1 (8/5): Great location ,staff and food great too.. - Great location beside the beach walking distance to town.quietvtime of the year and weather was atrocious but the bar and staff made our stay all the more worthwhile and enjoyable.rooms were just great plenty of space .
- 994florencet (10/5): Excellent stay! - Fantastic views, excellent buffet breakfast, good restaurant food, comfortable room, helpful and friendly staff. We really enjoyed our stay!
- TMoeMol1 (8/5): Friendly staff, convenient location - Really good location. Beautiful views over Lough Swilly from the dining hall. The room was clean, spacious and had a window overlooking a nearby estate. Nice big bathroom. The beds were comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities in the room.
The only noise was from other hotel users going to their rooms during the night.
Friendly staff at the reception who informed me of an overflow carpark when there were no spaces left in the hotel carpark. Polite housekeepers also.
The swimming pool and changing rooms were clean. The steam room was a little noisy but effective.
The hotel looks like it is being modernised but I like the older style charm so hopefully it keeps that.
The breakfast looked good for people who eat typical Irish breakfasts. There was not a lot of choice for people with intolerances or a specific diet. I noticed some gluten free bread but as a vegan I had limited choices. I had some melon, mushrooms, tomatoes and beans. Most hotels don't do vegan options very well. I would recommend putting some signs on the bread to indicate if it was vegan friendly. Maybe introduce some hash browns. I did have to check if the mushrooms were fried in oil or butter. I understand people with special dietary requirements are in the minority but it would make a huge difference.
- cindya539 (10/5): Will be back ⊠- Convenient location, great leisure facilities and pool. Food of a very high standard and sea view room was spacious and spotless.
- bernardbH2761LT (8/5): Pleasant stay as usual - Always nice to stay here. Staff very friendly, great location. Nice Bar food and breakfast. Very well priced.
- Tracey (8/5): Excellent location and has nice facilities - The location is excellent. Close to the town. Nice views of the water from certain parts of the hotel (for example the dining room). Helpful staff. Nice pool. The breakfast was not great for people with dietary requirements. I saw there was some gluten free bread which was labelled. I asked a staff member if the mushrooms were fried in oil or butter as it was not labelled. People looking for vegan options should have breakfast elsewhere as there aren't a lot in the hotel. Same with the bar / restaurant menu.
- Anthony (8/5): Food was lovely. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel and rooms were spotless. - Breakfast was lovely. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Hotel and rooms were spotless.
- Discover43077593733 (8/5): Ev charging at inishmore gateway - Great atmosphere room.s good value for money ,no ev chargers that work any place near
Made it hard to enjoy when I had to drive back to derry o ly to find most of the charger were not working then back to hotel
Hotels spa need to be updated sorry pool and sauna
- lyndahL3126PM (10/5): Would definitely stay again - We had a room overlooking the golf course, and loch Swilly. It was amazing even though it was February... Room was very clean and comfortable, house keeping was 100% breakfast was buffet and hot and plentyful, dinner was really nice with lots of choices on the menu. Would definitely recommend
- garymM7543VT (6/5): Great stay, restaurant service needs work. - The hotel & the grounds itself were very nice, the rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Lunch was nice & reasonably priced. The spa treatments were great & the therapists were very friendly. However, dinner service was absolutely terrible. We booked dinner for 19.30 and we were not eating until 20.45. We only ordered mains and desert. It took almost 30minutes to even get a drink & this was not during a busy period. This was the only part that let down our stay, but apart from that we enjoyed everything else.
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Kate (10/5): We went on a two nights stay just to unwind and relax - Very well deserved. Beautiful place. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable the bed was clean and comfortable There wasnât a thing I could say about the hotel. It was a great hotel
- G2559GCciaram (2/5): Most awful experience - Food awful the treatment to us from staff terrible serving us in bar all evening then to refused threw us out of our room after paying 145 euro to stay
- Ciara (1/5): Worst experience - Nothing Food awful staff treated me and my partner terrible
- kenbP7767JA (10/5): Lovely chilled few days - Excellent value for money Rooms up to date and spotless Staff warm and friendly Food plentiful and tasty Have booked a return trip already
- mariabO227KY (10/5): Fantastic - A group of women had the Innishowen gate hotel experience and had an absolute fantastic time. The weather was awful but the hotel facilities made up for it including the warmth and hospitality of the staff, the quality of food the ambience and tranquillity of the hotel ,couldn't fault the trip

- eileenkD4447UB (10/5): Highly recommend - Had a lovely Birthday weekend here as a family. Room, food and entertainment in the bar all great. Would definitely go back!!
- rachelsur22 (10/5): Another great visit to Amazing Grace country - We love this hotel, staff are amazing, food good, golf free, weather perfect, and location stunning. Friday nightâs singer, (sorry I never got her name) was sooo eclectic. We left when she was Debbie Harry. Very talented. Of course, weâll be back again!
- Stay781530 (6/5): Mediocre - Room was lovely clean nice bathroom and modern smart tv but the breakfast was horrendous everything appeared to be deep fried pudding and bacon. It was a massive let down and as a result ill not be staying again.
