Guest Reviews
- Ursula (10/5): - Wonderful staff, we had an excellent stay. Comfortable rooms, good location, good food. Great local guides available, ask for Aden, you'll be very pleased.
- William (10/5): - We are looking forward to a chance to spend a little more time at your property in the future.
- Faiza (8/5): - I loved the rooms, the staff and the food! However they should put in more effort with the compounds landscaping.
- AUSTIN P (8/5): - Cozy, clean and amazing staff
- Xandaye Srilamae (6/5): - We were assigned at the last cottage which is very far from the reception. There was no transport avail for us to go to and fro the resto and recep area. That’s why we opted for room service for both dinner and breakfast since it is unsafe to go to the restaurant when there is no ample lighting and the way up is not very well lit and not cemented.
It could have been better if they asked us our cottage preference especially that we are not from Kenya ans it is our first time in the country.
- Vanessa RIBAS (10/5): - Très belle chambre.
- Julia (8/5): - Excellent service.
- Luis (10/5): - The place and the views are amazing, the cottage was super nice and roomy, would love to repeat the experience there.
- Sam (10/5): Great hotel with great staff - Really nice hotel, the food was amazing, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend (particularly Japheth and James).
- Verified traveler (8/5): Calm, tranquil place! - Stay was good. Staff is friendly, and service was good. Food options can be improved. However, we did enjoy our meals.
- Roderick (8/5): - Excellent experience and setting. Slightly taken aback by strict check out time of 10.00am with 1000ksh an hour if we overstayed.
- Wambui (10/5): - The cottages were okay. Had all the amenities but the decor was off. The service we received at breakfast was AMAZING. I would go back again and recommend it just for the service and the breathtaking view of the lake at the pool.
Ausgesprochene WARNUNG ❗️
- Kiprotich (10/5): - I liked the ample parking and serene environment.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Timber wood and great spaces! - Great rooms with hand-made timer wood furniture and details. bedroom decent size and living room HUGE!! Overall quite clean (even if kitchen cleaness can improve). Decent food with 4 course menue in the full board option. Would recomend spending a night!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It is quiet and private and very relaxing; a place to go to unwind and chill out.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property blends very well with the environment.
- Rhonda (6/5): An adequate place for families or two couples - Kongoni Lodge is a well kept Kenyan lodge that is well suited for a family or two couples travelling together. Whilst quite a long way from the lake, you get lovely views of the lake and the grounds are very nicely maintained. The lodge provides activities - which young children would enjoy. We travelled with our son and his girlfriend - the cottage was adequate with each room having its own bathroom. However, there was no fridge or microwave, despite the cottage being fitted out with a full kitchen. This seemed a little perplexing to us. The reception staff were a little stiff - we inquired about booking a trip to Crescent Island. They indicated they could assist us, but when we followed up they indicated that we should just turn up to one of the boat hire companies that operate on the lake. We asked for a recommendation and they indicated that they could google some suggestions for us. So, in short - don't rely on them to assist you with external activities - make your own inquiries. The beds were a little hard as well. I am not sure I would return to this lodge, however, it was perfectly adequate for our needs and the restaurant and bar staff were very helpful.
- Richard (10/5): Highly recommended-lovely place - I absolutely loved this place and it was my weekend retreat during a business trip in between Dubai & Nairobi. Quite a trek to get there but it was well worth it. Warmly welcomed and I had a cottage all to myself as the other room was empty. That's the only slightly bizarre thing that if you have one room, you may have to share a kitchen, dining room and lounge area with someone that you don't know. No matter, it was irrelevant for my stay. Lovely bed and room together with ensuite facilities. I loved the main restaurant area and the food was positively sumptuous. Very friendly staff, particularly James. It was a very welcome break away from normal life. Although I could see the lake, I walked down there just to say I'd done it but I wasn't particularly impressed with the camp site area which seemed a little bit run down. I stayed for a drink and came back up to the main lodge which was perfect.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Food is excellent. Very relaxing ambience. Staff at the restaurant very helpful.
- Julie (8/5): - The site is absolutely beautiful, quiet and beautiful views.
We booked one room and were surprised at check-in that there was a possibility we would share the lodge with other people if there was another booking. It's basically a cottage with two separate rooms each with Ensuite, but you share the living room and kitchen.
Luckily we were alone, regardless the lodge was just a huge place unnecessary in my opinion. Room was comfortable but bathroom not the cleanest. The floor of the shower was slimy.
The highlight of our stay was the supper and drinks at the restaurant. Service was absolutely wonderful, attentive and the food was outstanding. Really above our expectation was the table d'hôte supper. Chef Rafael even came to check on us at the end of the dinner. Loved it.
Overall, I would stay there again if I could be sure to have the entire lodge to ourselves or if going with 4 people.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We booked only the room with no meals as we dont eat a lot. The hotel has a a la catre menu but anything we asked for from the menu was not available. The hotel was pushing us to take the full fixed menu Dinner which we did not like for the dishes being offered. The Hotel is not good for Vegans. The Views from the rooms not the restaurant were good. The property has a lot of new trees and bushes that blocks the entire view of the landscape. You feel claustrophobic even when you are 25 KMs from any town. Not a good place to recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel~ - Good stay with spacious room & delicious food & nice staffs~
Quite dark at night and a little bit distant from the room to the restaurant.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Peaceful and Relaxing lodge mini break - Very relaxing two day mini break. Spacious grounds and private executive lodging with plunge pool and hot tub. Good restaurant with friendly and helpful staff offering nice set lunch/dinner menus, overlooking a communal gardens pool. Not that much to do locally especially at night, although local lake ‘hippo safari’ rides, small game National Park and cycling options exist. About 20 Miles and 45+ min ride along a somewhat pot holed road from main town of Naivasha being the only drawback.
- teemu (8/5): Nice lodge - Nice, peaceful place. Cottages are huge! A la carte food was surprisingly good. Recommended.
- chegstar (8/5): amazing stay and brilliant staff - amazing stay and brilliant staff looking forward for my next stay
- Ron (8/5): Good Experience! - Nice service, kind staff, interesting bungalow style/design, quiet area.
- Nicolas (6/5): Beautiful view of Lake Naivasha - The Hotel was difficult to find, and would be very inconvenient and unreachable depending on the means of transportation in the rainy season. The road leading up to the hotel is a dirt road with serious deterioration and narrow paths with bordering cliffs. The Hotel is located on a beautiful hill top overlooking the Naivasha lake (not actually close to the lake itself though). The bungalows consist of 2 separate apartments (I was not warned we would need to share a living room). Bungalow rooms can get quite hot in the summer. Rooms are equipped with only a fan (No airco). The mosquito nets at night did not work so I would suggest guests take mosquito spray with deet. Hotel staff was nice enough to go into our rooms while we were away and close the windows and release the mosquito nets on our beds (its the thought that counts). There are wild animals roaming around the hotel, adding to the charm (we saw velvet monkeys, rabbits, and small dears). Breakfast was not worth staying at the hotel for. Consist of pre-plated fruits, and a selection of pre-made "ala-carte" choices.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing choice! - We enjoyed a beautiful stand alone lodge that was completely private with its own small, private pool, number 14. The thatched roof lodge was meticulously clean and the decor included stone floors and beautiful wood burl furniture. Denis was our server for our 2 night stay and he was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu, which is important for my dietary restrictions. The food was very good, and beautifully staged. The supplied robes and slippers were a nice touch and much appreciated! We enjoyed our stay very much and will return!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful Location - It is a very beautiful location and extremely relaxing mainly because it is so quiet there apart from wonderful natural sounds. The staff are very friendly and helpful to a fault. My partner and I got a lot from our few days there and would definitely return.
- Masaru (6/5): - The staff of front desk needs to learn about hospitlity. Very rude & unproffecional!
- Evelyn (10/5): Amazingly incredible hotel and service - This hotel is the best! The staff is very kind and attentive. The manager Peter is simply amazing. They heard that it's my birthday and prepared an entire big cake for me during dinner! the room is ver spacious and well designed. They also come with a camp site which is right next to the lake! that the hotel guest can sit and chill by the lake and enjoy lunch! Amazing overall
- Verified traveler (8/5): a wonderful hotel - good, nice food, but the bathroom is not good
- Michelle (10/5): Absolute privacy, exotic ambiance - Incredible, relaxing, secluded.
- Rebecca (10/5): Naivasha kongoni - The place was great..... the staff were super helpful and kind. The rooms are exceptional, the executive or exclusive rooms are a must try for everyone.
- michael (10/5): - Very nice grounds, spacious cottages, nice eating area, very relaxing place to stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): One word awesome - My first time home in 25 years. I've live in the united states for the last 25 years. My sister in law surprised me and my wife with a visit to the Lodge. This is a experience of a LIFE TIME!!! We will highly remember the Kongoni Lodge to our family and friends
- Matthew (10/5): A very nice place to stay - We spent a couple of days at Kongoni, and enjoyed our stay very much. The room was in a lodge with shared TV/lounge but there was no one in the other room so we had the lodge, which is very comfortable and spacious, to ourselves. The lodge was generally very clean although we did notice a stain on one of the outer covers on the bed.
The environment is really nice, especially the well maintained, well lit, areas near reception and the restaurant. I would have felt quite isolated in the lodges far from this area, but lodge 4 and those nearby are perfectly located.
The food at the restaurant was expensive, but it was very good quality. We tried a few things on the menu including steak, fish and spaghetti bolognese and they were all very nice. The breakfast was also very good as was the service. One of the best dining experiences we've had in Kenya. Only two negatives amidst many positives - the milk was very watered down for some reason, and the womens toilet was not clean at the restaurant.
All the staff at Kongoni were very helpful and polite. The lodge is located quite far from Naivasha so it's a great place for some peace and relaxation. The countryside is beautiful and the views from various parts of Kongoni Lodge are excellent.
Overall, we loved this place and would definitely want to return to stay here again at some point.
- Ewen (8/5): Relaxing atmosphere near Lake Naivasha - We were welcomed on arrival with hot towels and a refreshing fruit juice before being shown to the cottage. This was very comfortable and spacious, lovely view towards the lake. The bedroom was average size, the bed clean and comfortable. The bathroom was adequate, the towels a bit small and the shower mixer tap was not easy to regulate the temperature. The restaurant was adequate, food quality poor, service polite but inefficient. The swimming pool although clean was black stone which did not appeal. The grounds are well maintained and attractive.
- Joe (10/5): Had an amazing time! - The entire lodge is very clean, and well maintained, the pool is beautiful and the restaurant had great food. The rooms were very comfortable, but I will say I didn't know that the rooms had a shared common area to include the living room and I guess what you would call a kitchen. Luckily for me no one was staying in the adjoining room. I would have wished that the room had at least a mini fridge, and a few kitchen items like silverware and plates. All in all it was still an amazingly nice room, clean and sanitary, well built to fight the mosquitoes.
- Martin (6/5): Nice Hotel - Enjoyed the facilities however the food could be improved upon.
