They convert USD to Mozambique Meticas, which resulted in a higher price for my stay, as the USD to Metica is stronger than ZAR to Metica. The manager was rude and didn't listen to reasoning. 2. Day 1 - The Safe in my room didn't work. Maintenance said they will replace it, I was promised a new room, which didn't happen. So I couldn't use the safe during my stay 3. The shower drain is broken. Maintenance said it has been reported but too expensive to replace 4. The shower door was leaking, so I every time had to use towels to dry the floor 5. One of the lights in the bathroom didn't work (next to the mirror). No attention given to my complaint 6. The windows don't have clips to close it. Severe rain flooded the bathroom floor 7. No hairdryer 8. No microwave 9. Every day I had to ask for a pool towel and mattresses at the pool. Sometimes I waited more than an hour for this. Service is shocking 10. Restaurant menu expensive and sub standard. 11. Breakfast is always the same. No variety in terms of hot food. Coffee not replaced when it gets cold. 12. Interleading rooms, not soundproof 13. Service is slow. Always. 14. Ricoffy in rooms. For the price, I expect at least real coffee not chicory. No milk 15. No snacks to buy in the hotel. 16. Muito obrigado! - The hotel is beautiful with exceptional customer service from all the staff; reception, housekeeping, F&B. We were warmly welcomed and had lots of fun at Karaoke evenings. The food was deliciously prepared, we enjoyed it. Appreciate the assistance with getting Tuk-tuks whenever we needed them to get around and the complimentary shuttle service. Wifi extender for the rooms is recommended as we really struggled with the connection there. It only worked well downstairs at reception, restaurant and bar area.

The sounds of the harbour just adds to the allure. Yes, she needs a coat of paint, yes she may not be the most modern around but she oozes character, much like the Oyster Box of old, she just needs a refresh BUT still well worth the visit. Staff are exceptional, from the front of house the grounds people, all are attentive and helpful. The rooms are big, comfortable and well appointed at the price, you will not do better. Give her a chance, if you enjoy old world charm and elegance, this is the one for you. Thank you for making my trip a memorable one, see you all soon. Nothing.

Special thanks to Paolo for all his help in arranging transport to Tofo given the political protests. FYI, the hotel is some distance from the main town and ATMs - perhaps 30 minute walk. But the main boat tour operators to Bazaruto will pick you up on the beach in front of the hotel.

It is very slow and cuts in and out. Also, the bar tender didn't know what a Tequila Sunrise was and had to remake it. The breakfast is free, but isn't great quality. Pros and cons. It's truly a 3 star hotel despite being better quality back in its early years. That said, it's the most western hotel in the city.

Is said it was located in the harbour but it looked more like a boat yard. The hotel a food was totally overpriced compared to South Africa.
- Vidhi (5/5): good food and clean but... - different architecture good restaurant vegetarian options are available and even special requests rooms and restaurant is very clean spa is terrible! they dont have proper tools, the lady keeps bad mouthing owners, she puts random music in her mobile, the room doesn't have spa vibe at all! it was cheap work and expensive! rather go to Bahia Mar spa. swimming pool needs frequent cleaning, there are insects and and tree leaves falling. shower pressure was abnormal and irregular, not enough hot water but because the weather was hot we managed. drinks are bit expensive. it doesn't have gym, there are not much inside the hotel. suggestions: improve spa staff and facilities, clean swimming pool thrice if u want to keep under trees, make a board games room, make tourists package with discounts more often if you want to attract more clients, you could include 10min free head massage for example to tease clients. Have few shops inside the hotel.

- Doloresrf (10/5): ENJOYABLE STAY AT DONA AND HOTEL - VILANCULO - MOZAMBIQUE - would like to thank both managers Hisham and Sagar...I had a little loud neighbour so they immediately offered to change my room...rooms are wide --beds and pillows very comfortable..they provide toiletries ..breakfast could be improved a little but was generous..the staff very attentive ready to comply with any request.---I hope I don't forget names..thank you Macane, Ziadym Iracelma Edso Nilton ..Luna at reception with Veronica Paula And Augusto.. the hotel is more oriented to business... its huge..and you access the beach through a door from the garden..Vilanculos does not have uninterrupted long beaches..some places have rocks... and I went in winter so not many passengers... had an excellent stay the surrounding beach...one is short..you cannot walk along the beach and the other u have to walk to access it and the coast is quite empty of hotels...I recommend a day trip to Archipiela Barazuto..
- Raul (2/5): see above - Hotel was fairly clean/housekeeping Staff lacks hospitality skills. Reported that my safe was not working on the first day and nothing was done till we left...the only response was they know. Heard that money goes missing from tourists rooms..so had to carry passports, money etc everywhere we went...not pleasant. Hotel has zero tourist friendly skills from reception to management with a sense of arrogance. Very cold and eerie feel throughout the stay. Ate dinner one night in the restaurant and food was tastleless .Asked for a doggiebag and was charged extra .Spoke to the manager about all the issues and he said he is new and couldn't comment as yet. The manager saw our family from day one and he could not even greet or smile throughout. After the complaint a staff member offered "one free coffee or one pizza" .When you on holiday you just want good service and food and hospitality not freebies..guess they have a long way to go .Definitely wont recommend to any tourists to stay .I can only commend one staff at breakfast who tried his best with a smile -Osvaldo.PS be away don't book excursions through reception staff will come with their own prices even with the tuk tuks.

- Michelle (8/5): The staff made my stay amazing! - The staff was so patient and kind -and helped me get around. I love that they have complimentary bikes for guests to get around. A great option for solo travelers, nearby bars and restaurants to try out local food - the hotel has a restaurant and bar too. The room was quite small for $100+ a night and not terribly clean. and at the end of a hallway that was not lit at all. but lovely
- Mbuga (10/5): Totally recommend - The hotel is very beautiful, we loved the scenery it's breath taking and the staff was amazing. It's the best place to relax and the best getaway. We're definitely going back! We loved it at Hotel Dona Ana!

- Lindah (7/5): It was a pleasant holiday, but i wouldn't' advise anyone to drive to Vilankulos the roads are bad. - The hotel is beautiful, breakfast was good, their food tasted nice and the experience of having breakfast at the balcony with the sea view was amazing. Their staff is welcoming, no need to be scared about mosquitoes im sure they use some chemical to kill bugs, The landscape outside the hotel facility. Some plants were a bit dry lawn etc and an unattended ground with dying plants on the other hand, but interior was amazing.

- Jenny (7/5): Good - The hotel iand facilities are kept very clean. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. The shower in our bathroom pointed high up the wall and couldn't be adjusted so we could not have a decent shower the whole time we were there. The breakfast was a little underwhelming. The room was very dark and could have done with extra lighting.
