Guest Reviews
- Nogogirl (8/5): A calm oasis! - Wonderful Dar and beautiful designed space- found down a tiny alley in the middle of the medina - and you enter another world.
Quiet, stunning decor and serene calm.
We were on the top floor in an elegant room which had everything we needed. Pool small but beautifully designed and wonderful sun loungers for hot days.
Staff alert for every need and couldn’t have been friendlier.
- jonathanbF2830JB (2/5): Horrendous hotel in a terrible location - This is a 2 star hotel masquerading as a 4 star hotel. The plumbing often doesn't work. The toilet does not function for several hours each day and there is no running water, so no ability to use the sink or the shower.
There is almost no air conditioning. In the 104 degree F temperature of Nabeul, it is like staying inside an oven. I could not sleep.
There is no lock on the room door and no safe inside the room. So no way to secure valuables like laptop, cash, passport, etc. The TV did not work properly.
And the location is TERRIBLE. Nobeul is dirty and run down. To get anywhere interesting, you must take a taxi 20 minutes each way.
In 30+ years of intensive traveling, this has been my single worst hotel experience.
- dennis (10/5): - Beautiful property in convenient location
- STEPHEN (10/5): - A really unique place to stay. It's a litt l e hard to find as the entrance is the ladt door on the left down a narrow lane off the souk. You have to find parking off-site, so I parked in front of the MonoPrix and left it there.
Great atmosphere and room. The staff was great as they were very friendly. Definitely one of the cooler places I've stayed at. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.
- Mouna (10/5): - Service impeccable un séjour magnifique, merci a l’équipe ❤️
- Yves-B-TA (10/5): Tasteful and authentic - It's surprising how a small door in a small street can open to such a space. I had an awesome stay at Dar Sabri during my visit to Nabeul. I found the place cosy and decorated with taste. The care is given to ensure authenticity when decorating and arranging the rooms, and the terrasse/pool area is nicely done - great space for taking time to relax. Dar Sabri is located in a small street reaching right in the middle of the Soukh which is very close to the center of Nabeul. I certainly recommend Dar Sabri for those who would like to spend a moment in Nabeul and enjoy the great taste and authenticity as well as the the warm Tunisian hospitality.
- travelseeker-y (6/5): Disappointed - We had already visited the hotel back in 2016 and we were quite impressed. On returning now, we were really disappointed. My husband and I had the Suite Ébène, where the shower handle was not working. Plus, the trash bin in the room was filled with the trash of the previous guests. This is definitely not what we expected for the price we paid. We ordered dinner, which we believed to be over-priced for the food served. However, in all honesty, it was clean and delicious. The pool was also not clean when we were there.
- dliszkai (10/5): Enchanting Dar - The Dar is hidden in one of the Medina's small streets. Once in we were completely enchanted by the place. Beautiful rooms, terrasse, pool and commun space decorated with taste. The service was also great thanks to the staff who works there. We would definitely go back for a longer weekend!
- SheriLaizer (8/5): HIDDEN HAVEN - Communal areas and secluded rooms if you prefer but Dar Sabri is an intimate setting and you can't choose your fellow travellers aside from perhaps having in common similar tastes and needs in accommodation in a small place like Nabeul.
It is possible to keep to European norms and values and have a drink of wine or alcohol that cannot be found in the street.
Thoughtful decor and charming proprietor, Sabri of mixed Tunisian and European background
- Keith (10/5): Wonderful - A superb small hotel. You receive a personal service and the hotel is in the Medina.
- Keith1812 (10/5): Absolutely Wonderful - Picked up at the airport by Sabri and whilst driving to the hotel gave him an idea where we would like to visit.Although it was short notice he arranged 4 wonderful trips for us. Met Sonia at the hotel who cooked for us on 2 occasions. Very tasty but far too much food! The hotel itself was well situated very quiet (except for the call to prayers at 5.00am) and all four rooms tastefully decorated. Everyone was welcoming and friendly, a must for any traveller who wants personal service at affordable prices. The british need to return to this area.
- ftusa85 (10/5): Beautiful hotel, best in Nabeul - I've stayed twice in Dar Sabri, and it's a wonderful place. The style is classical and simple, the swimming pool is perfect, and the food and hosts add to the experience. I'd warmly recommend it: Dar Sabri is simply the best place to stay in Nabeul!
- Nadeem (10/5): The best time ever - It has been the best experience I have ever had, the place is amazing and also the staff are very welcoming and sweet
- Claire (10/5): Délices - Très beau séjour. Chaleureux. Sérénité et beauté. Et l'équipe féminine , adorable.
- 231sammyg (10/5): Modern-Arabic Oasis - We had an exceptionally relaxing time at Dar Sabri from the „welcome“ to the „good-bye, hope to see you again“. The staff is professionel, polite and welcoming. The house itself is a wonderful mix of traditionel and modern architecture/design in the oldtown of Nabeul. You can feel the love and devotion in every corner of the place. Many lovely details, tunisian handcraft and artpieces make it authentic and special. The breakfast was great and staff took care of every special wish!
Big plus for the amazing rooftop terrace with the pool.
We will be back there and can highly recommend Dar Sabri
- RaoulCyril (10/5): Design Treasure - From even before arriving, during the stay and after our stay, the whole team was super comforting, kind and really great hosts. Everything went so smoothly and with a lot of experience how to satisfy all guest's wishes.
The Hotel itself is a treasure of pure design and taste. Everything is chosen with care and love for beauty and details what is often missing in other Hotels in Tunisia but not in this one.
We had only a weekend over there but would love to come back as soon as possible. A Weekend full of comfort, beauty and ways to relax.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful, stylish hotel in the centre of Nabeul - A real gem in the heart of the Nabeul Medina. Great breakfast, comfy rooms and friendly staff. Looking forward to coming back and trying the hammam
- salocin77 (10/5): Sleeping in a medina - This was my first experience of sleeping in a Medina, and I’m sure that is the best place for this.
Dar Sabri is the place to stay when you travel in Tunisia. The location is perfect for visiting Hammamed and the cap bon.
The room is so cute and the bedding really comfortable.
The host Mr. Sabri helped us to find our way in the Medina and gave us some tips for visiting around...
We had a perfect couscous for dinner, and the breakfast was amazing.
Definitely I’ll return for another stay.
- hypercube (4/5): Overpriced - under maintained - It does not have to be a disadvantage if the hotel is difficult to find and there is no sign outside.
The reception is friendly. Even the owner is not unpleasant.
The renovation of the old house was done in the style of the eighties and unfortunately not really successful. Thorough maintenance would also be necessary again.
The rooms on the ground floor are dark and in no way generous. Bathrooms and toilets are not separated or separable from the room.
Breakfast is on average but insufficient for the price.
Unfortunately, the whole project lacks the passion that such a hotel would require.
- Luciana (10/5): Beatiful oasis of peace in the Medina - Really amazing house, with just a few bedrooms. The staff was helpful, nice and laid back. The atmosphere of the hotel is great: tasteful decoration, peaceful music, etc. The breakfast was really complete and tasty, pool clean and fresh, room comfortable. I would absolutely recommend Dar Sabri.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful people wonderful hotel wonderful breakfa - Photos are pretty accurate. People extremely friendly and in a decent location
- Expedia (10/5): no for me - is nice but not for family is good for couple
- jakobp439 (10/5): Wonderful place with very nice staff - We spent two nights as a couple and had the whole place to ourselves, but despite the tourism crises the place was in good shape and we had a very warm welcome! The hammam is hotter and better than many others I have been to and the breakfast even for us Germans absolutely satisfying - just the muezzin at 5am is a bit hard to get used to and the Coffee machine was broken (better bring your own coffee if you don't like the Tunisian one as we do) - we hope very much that this nice boutique Hotel will survive the hard times Tunisian hotelerie is going through and can keep the high standard it has set!
- Seabasschan (10/5): My Best Boutique hotel experience - I've experienced many hotels in different countries, but none of them were close in terms of quality to this one. The hotel is absolutely charming, every detail is chosen in the most perfect possible way. I stayed at the golden room and I still cannot get over the feeling of wellness I felt in there. And the smell is the most exquisite I ever came across ! Service is also excellent. There is nothing not to like !
- emilie (10/5): Escapade amoureuse - accueil chaleureux
Propreté des lieux
Dépaysement assuré
Super p'tit dej
Piscine originale
Emplacement ideal
- karimoss (10/5): Amazing experience - We spent 1 night in the "Gold Suite" and we were genuinely impressed by every detail. The decor, the service, the staff, every thing was of the highest quality. The small swimming pool upstairs is just perfect as well, very quiet although few meters away from the souk.
We definitely recommend this place and would come back with pleasure
Also, Dar Sabri may seem expensive, but compared to other hotels or resorts in the area, it offers something different and exquisite. We are very happy we chose this place for our romantic getaway
- zainouch (10/5): Great little relaxation heaven - We had a really really nice stay in Dar Sabri in Nabeul.
Location is really good. Close to the city center, in a side street of the souk.
When you close the doors of the dar behind you, you feel in another place. It is very calm and relaxing.
Decoration and renovation is nicely done, with respect for authentic elements but in a very comfortable way.
Service was great. Since it is a small place, you can expect very personal service. Breakfast is good, and you can ask what you want from the lady who serves it.
The swimming pool is small but nice and good temperature.
If you want something else for your stay in Tunisia versus the resorts, we strongly recommend this place.
- 302yasmined (10/5): Best hotel experience ever - I am a world traveler and I have toured many hotels around the world. Some were luxurious, some charming, others had fantastic service. None is like this one: It combines all three together, and more. Mr. Sabri himself, the brain behind the project, awaits you to welcome you and is always eager to help, and so is his wonderful staff. The venue itself is just perfect: An old all-white riad, with wonderful rooms, an authentic yet luxurious style, and a serenity that nothing beats. The location is great: Nabeul is a beautiful city and Dar Sabri is located right inside the medina, a few meters away from the old market -and still very calm once you step into the door. Highly, highly, highly recommended. We spent a whole week there and are just thankful we made the choice to stay at Dar Sabri.
- X6663MDkevins (10/5): Short stay away from Tunis - We are ex-pats living in Tunis We went to Dar Sabri for three days in April to continue our exploration of different parts of Tunis. The position in the Medina in nabeul means it is close to everything but down a quiet side street. The rooms are of the highest standards and the beds were very comfortable. Mr Sabri went well beyond what was necessary to make our stay memorable. Providing bicycles in good condition for a days journey up the coast to do some bird watching near Korba, allowing us to join him and his guests for a wondeful couscus for our first night dinner. Having experienced all types of five star accomodation in Tunsia, Dar Sabri ranks with the best and contains the personal touch of an attentive and hepful owner. We will be going back.
- fazzy0ne (10/5): lovely quiet place away from the noise - myself and my wife stayed here for the second leg of our holiday to Tunisia. the first leg we spent in an all singing and all dancing luxury resort which we wont go into here.. lets just say that we regretted not staying at Dar Sabri for the entirety of our holiday.
we spent 5 nights here and have to say that amongst all the hussle and bussle of the busy streets outside, we had wonderful uninterrupted peaceful sleep. the sense that you get that you are right in the action yet have your own private place away from it all is amazing.
some say that this place is expensive, but thats all relative. sure, you can find rooms in Tunisia for very cheap but there you wont get the lovely ambiance that you get from this place. most of the resorts are located along the beach fronts but you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere with few shops and too few things to do around you. here you are right in the middle of Nabeul where theres lots of local stuff to see, do and eat.
you can take photographs of this place and each shot would look like a postcard. amazing.
the rooms are spectacular - we managed to see two of them and know that every room would have been kitted out with the same fine attention to detail. we were in the Ebony room and found it very comfortable and felt at home immediately. the design of the room was simple and refreshing but hard to maintain with the Mrs taking her horde of suitcases on holiday with her :)
we had everything we needed for our stay, a nice radio/ipod dock with some relaxing soothing music and a tv/satellite which we didnt really use.
the outside courtyard and roof terrace are lovely and we would liked to have made more use of this but the weather was not on our side. it was on off rain for most of the 10 days we were in Tunisia.
we were not prepared for the rain (and cold) and it must be noted that this time of year is quite cold so please check before you leave and prepare for this.
Sabri was a fantastic host. warm and welcoming and has lots of local knowledge. meeting him you can see that all of the spaces he has designed are for him as you can see elements of his character in all of the details. quite clearly he has put his heart and soul into this place and it shows.
the staff are great, equally welcoming, very helpful and always carrying a smile :)
we will come back for sure when the weather is nicer and get to see more of Tunisia.
