Guest Reviews
- David (4/5): - The only reason im not giving Etowah a 1-Star is because we were able to get out money back from canceling our 3-night stay. We were told, "Because there's only 11 guests staying this weekend, it doesn't make sense to have the breakfast restaurant open from 7am-9:30am."
I had an 8:30am tee time. I felt like us being part of the "only having 11 guests," that we weren't important. Very disappointed.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Very Disappointed - Not impressed. Property was very run down. To be a golf resort and for the price, I expected to be more up to date. The property outside needs cleaning; grass needs cutting, bushes needs trimming, tree limbs laying every where. The room was very outdated smelling of must as you opened the door. The bathroom smelled like pee.
- Wendy (10/5): - Accommodations are directly on the golf course. Quiet area close to where I was planning to be. Facilities have not been updated in quite a long while. Definitely more of a motel feel than a resort
- Heather (10/5): - Good location, easy check in, and nice comfy rooms
- steve (10/5): - Great golf course
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not terrible - The ice machine was broken. We asked about viewing the property on a golf cart that we offered to pay for. One person told us yes and another told us no. We would have loved to see the entire golf course but sadly wasn't allowed. Breakfast was ok. The coffee was very weak. Tasted like tea. Not a terrible stay but would not book again.
- Tammy (6/5): - I stayed at this property several times when I was growing up. I was n town for a funeral and decided to stay for the nostalgia. I was disappointed that the part of the property that was staying was in less than good condition. The walkway on the 2nd floor was falling through. The warning sign/cone was turned and I didn’t see it but realized it was unstable after I started walking across it. There was a large gap under the door, maybe the damage from the walkway?? The a/c was loud and would not cycle properly, constant on and off. Over all the staff were all very nice. I didn’t complain, I felt they already knew the conditions. However, for the same price there are better options if you just need a nice, quiet, safe place to stay. Brevard has much better options for the same price.
- Stephen (10/5): - Would recommend to everyone
- Joseph (10/5): - Love this place
- William (10/5): Good Breakfast, nice pool - Had a very pleasurable stay. So glad they brought breakfast back. It was delicious.
- Anthony (10/5): Great Place - We only stopped for the day, but really enjoyed our stay. The lady at the front desk was very helpful. Room was clean and loved the location overlooking part of the courses. My kids also throughly enjoyed the pool.
- Ashlee (10/5): - Best beds!!! Enjoyed our stay!
- amanda (10/5): - The rooms seemed a little outdated but accurately reflected in the pictures online, They were also very clean and spacious and the patio area was nice The grounds were beautiful and the pool area well kept and clean. The staff was very friendly and check in was quick and easy.
- Trey'von (6/5): - The property is nice. Bring wash cloths with you because they are very limited with wash cloths. We had a double bedroom with one wash cloth available. How can two people use one wash cloth? Not good when getting ready for bed. Not much to see on the grounds. More for golfers to enjoy, than anyone else.
- julie (8/5): - Beautiful golf course and grounds. Large selection for included breakfast. Zeke’s grill had delicious burgers. Very convenient to stay at golf course.
- Michael (10/5): The Get Away for R&R - Very kind & helpful people. Good directions & information.
- Brian (10/5): - Beautiful spot. People were so friendly. Can't wait to come back.
- Jada (10/5): - We stayed when all their restaurants and amenities were closed so the room was a good price. Staff prepares lock boxes for after hours check in which is convenient. The room was nice and clean. We felt safe and comfortable. We’d stay here again.
- Cynthia (8/5): - Out of the way golf resort which at this time of year is very quiet on a weekday, perhaps busier on weekends? Double bed room was basic with laminate wood floors and small bathroom but with extra vanity outside bathroom. It worked fine for our 1 night stay while passing through Asheville area for a visit to Biltmore (30 minutes away). Restaurant is closed for season.
- eileen abique (8/5): - Great place
- Alex (10/5): - Lovely property, very quiet and relaxing
- Daniel Gennadiyevich (10/5): - Great
- Kim (8/5): Decent Enough - Hotel is nice but very outdated. Water leaks in bathrooms and is very wasteful of leaking all day and night. AC is good but not very conservational. Beds were very comfy-lots of pillows, nice golf course view.
- Arturo (10/5): - very clean, very safe, some parts of the property are aging very nicely. I could not get to the pool, it was locked at 9am, so not sure what time it opens and it's about 15 minute drive from downtown Hendersonville
- Susan (10/5): - Peaceful
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean room budget friendly on a golf course what else u want ?
- JADE (6/5): - While all facilities were clean and staff were friendly. The rooms were outdated and smelt old and musty. Mattress was harder than a log. But I guess people are paying for the golf course and not the accommodations. We stayed mid week and I felt the room was overpriced.
- Tiffany (4/5): - Bugs in the room, shower head sprays water in back wall, bathroom light doesn’t work. Patio door unlocked and opened when we arrived. Had a musky smell. Bed was very uncomfortable and needed to be replaced you fell to the middle of mattress all night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Overnight stop for a Brevard concert. Excellent site and friendly, informative welcome.
- Anita (8/5): - Conveniently located, quiet and a beautiful setting.the restaurant was also very good. We are not golfers but enjoyed the view.
- Sandra (8/5): - Super friendly and helpful front desk person. The view off the deck was beautiful. The room was clean, but a few things could use repair.... the strip between the carpet and linoleum, the lamp closest to the window, the water temperature (very difficult to get and keep it comfortable for a shower... also very noisy), the door out to the deck, and maybe the deck flooring (it felt spongy in places, but i couldn't see it because of the outdoor carpet). Also, in spite of the fact we were informed there would be no housekeeping (and we didn't need or want it), a housekeeper knocked on the door and then proceeded to use her key to try to enter while we were in the room. That was quite unnerving.
- Sonja (10/5): - Older building but a great view off of the balcony.
- Ken (10/5): - Crystal at the front desk was very helpful.
- Donald (2/5): - Did not stay. Property was basically deserted. Could tell by exterior, and reception area that it was run down. Came to golf, but coarse was in horrible shape. Found another place to stay.
- Bill (8/5): - All in all, I enjoyed the property and would stay here again, but wouldn’t pay premium rates.
Likes:
I got a great price since it was off-season and stayed there for multiple days, so the value was really good.
It’s nice to wake up and open your (sliding glass) door to a balcony with golf course view. There was a white squirrel just outside of my room in the first morning (a cool anomaly in the area).
The rooms feature a small coffee maker, mini fridge and microwave. The linens and pillows were good.
I wasn’t there to play golf, but took advantage of the opportunity. The facilities were decent and the golf staff was nice. The driving range is short (~ 200 yards), you have to hit from mats - and drivers aren’t allowed. The course was wet and in “winter” condition - greens had been aerated and sanded, but the layout was fun.
Dislikes:
As others have said, there is very little sound insulation and you hear everything in adjacent rooms.
The room are “dated”, so don’t expect new furnishings or anything fancy. Not great mattresses, either.
The on property restaurants were closed for off-season (which I understand, but didn’t know beforehand).
- Cara (10/5): Much better than anticipated - We stayed here due to close proximity to a wedding. Based on the reviews I was not expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. For the money I was impressed. It is an older building, but well maintained. Porch/ balcony overlooking the gulf course was nice. There was a fridge/microwave that I was not expecting as a bonus. Minimal toiletries, so bring your own. Close to pisgah national forest. We ate at the salty landing which was excellent food, but slow service. The Dutch cupboard was a good to go breakfast.
- Brian (10/5): Clean and comfortable - Very clean and comfortable. Katie was very helpful and accommodating. Thanks!
- Jaine (10/5): - Affordable, off the beaten path, but close to anything needed. Felt very safe, and loved being able to walk the course in the morning. Housekeeping was awesome, love fresh clean bedding and love extra pillows!!! Cobwebs need to be dealt with, though. And ice machine needs to be fixed....just minor things. All in all enjoyed our stay VERY much
- Sydny (8/5): - This was great for a Thanksgiving visit and the ability to bring my dog was a huge bonus. We got great service from the staff, and they helped us check in late through the lockbox and gave us a map to find our room's building.
That said, it's not a luxury room and shouldn't be compared to one. The room came with 2 queen beds, a minifridge and microwave, and had two sinks- in the bathroom and outside of it. The room is a bit echoey, and while there is a HVAC unit you can control, the room doesn't come with additional blankets. We kept forgetting to ask for more because we were out with family all day.
The last update seems to have been mid 00's. A few things that could upgrade the room without huge changes: hand towel hooks by both sinks, a white noise machine (would really help with hearing other guests/cars), extra blankets in the closet, and working patio door locks (there was a safety bar available, but still a bit uncomfortable to see out of order on the ground floor). A stretch would be to add dog-bag disposal stations but a highlight for the nearest 'dog waste allowed' trash can would also be helpful.
Since we did late checkin, we didn't get any info about checkout and made sure we didn't head home before the front desk would be open so we could ask someone. Turns out it was just handing the keys in, but I wasn't sure if we would need to use the lockbox again.
Overall, we really liked staying here.
- Jeannine (10/5): Relaxed Get Away - Bed was just little uncomfortable for me and air conditioning needs cleaned. When turned A/C on you saw the dust flying in the air. Other than that it was absolutely a relaxing get away. Food was amazing. Staff was great.!
- Anna (6/5): - Very dated, no worth the price.
- Deborah (4/5): - My reservation had veen cancelled; although, I called to confirmed the week before. The desk clerk was not polite about assisting me with that problem. I called again that same day of arrival and the different desk clerk was helpful with assisting me orrecting the wrong credit card number that some how was on my account. Arrived and no parking near my room. Had to walk in an unlit parking lot to room. Just a disappointing experience.
- barbara (2/5): - There is no redeeming quality of this place. If you book- read the fine print about the lock- box sell check in!! If you stay- bring some noise blocking ear protection. There is no insulation between rooms!! You hear everything loudly!! I would never stay again, nor would I recommend this place to anyone.
- Gail (8/5): - I loved the area between towns . The room was clean but a little old and musty . I loved the area and felt safe to walk . The bushes and trees need trimming around the entire area badly
- Ana (10/5): - Beautiful but I found the bed uncomfortable
- Josh (4/5): - The price is less expensive than surrounding hotels. The room was clean but very much in need of renovations. It had a musty smell, peeling wallpaper panels, damaged furniture and dated fixtures, countertops, etc. The rooms are motel style, with the doors on the exterior.
The area was safe and grounds looked nice (we don't golf). Stay here because you want a clean room that is less expensive than other areas in Brevard but don't expect it to feel "nice".
- Angela (10/5): - Beautiful place-its quiet & a nice little get away in the mountains
- Julia (6/5): Not worth the price - Older rooms with HARD beds. Some bugs and a spider on the walls during our overnight stay. Even though this is classified as a “resort” because it is on a golf course, it is still an older set of 24 rooms with a decent view of the course.
- Andrew (6/5): - While we thought the room was nice and we enjoyed the pool, the exterior of the hotel (walkways, etc.) needs to be cleaned and repaired.
- tonia (2/5): Very dirty! - This was the filthiest property we have ever stayed at. Marks on the carpet. Filthy urine stains and residue in the bathroom underneath the toilet on the floor, The floor was filthy - had not been cleaned. And the previous guests dirty socks with mounted on the top of the shower curtain. Both sinks had residue from the last guest, one- coffee stains?! Definitely would not stay ever again. Checked out prematurely!
- Maria (6/5): - Very old and poorly maintain. The carpet was stain, the closet door was broken, the bathroom cabinets were all scratched giving a bad appearance.
- Sally (10/5): - Ease of check in and quiet.
- Sarah (8/5): - Nice property. Lovely view of the golf course from the balcony room. The staff is excellent at communicating the late check in process. Mediocre in room amenities such as lower end toiletries and Folgers coffee. But the price was very reasonable, so you can’t expect high end amenities when you aren’t paying a lot. Envelopes for tipping the housekeeping staff are also in the room, which is not something that is typical at nicer proprieties. I have nothing against tipping and did leave a tip, but it always makes me a feel as if the the resort itself should remove the envelopes and, instead, pay their housekeepers a better wage.
- Campbell (10/5): - Guys in the pro shop were really helpful with finding us tee off times during a busy day
- Joseph (8/5): - Check in staff person was very helpful. Very quiet room.
- SHELLY (8/5): - Property is a bit dated but clean. Bedding was good quality and a bit newer than other aspects of the room. The second floor decking feels a bit shifty. The staff was excellent and they waived our pet fee which was great. This is a great property for dogs. Quiet and safe location with plenty of room for walking. Conveniently located.
- Dayna (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Wouldn’t stay again - The room was dirty, the vent for the A/C unit was covered in dust, no stopper for the bath tub and our vehicle was broken in to.
- Debra (10/5): - Quiet area.
Limited dining locations ...
- Linda (10/5): - Very comfortable rooms that had the heat and light on for us. Ability to join the balconies with my fellow travelers if we wanted. Peaceful view of the golf course greens out the sliding glass window
- Mark (10/5): - Everything was good.
- Melody Lee (2/5): - .
- Sarah (10/5): - Parked right outside my room. View of the golf course. Plenty of places to eat nearby. Spacious patio to sit outdoors. Peaceful and quiet place to read a book. Coffee supplied in room. Equidistant between Brevard and Hendersonville.
- Sarah (8/5): - The place was nice but very dated. The price per night was high based on the room, amenities and dated room and building. We were not there for golf but I’m sure if you were it would be perfect due to the he location and gold amenities.
- Emily (8/5): - Very clean and comfortable room. Only stayed for a night, but the view of the golf course when we woke up was beautiful!
- Jackie (8/5): - Enjoyed another stay at Etowah.....rooms are older but clean. Restaurant is good, and complimentary breakfast was great.
- Andrew (8/5): - Beautiful golf destination setting. Weather poor and couldn't play golf.
- Levi (10/5): Nice atmosphere - Very peaceful area. I loved see the animals visiting the course.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property is older but it is quiet and peaceful. Wasn't able to use the pool as it was raining -- nice size though. The room lacked a microwave which would have been useful. Stairs could use slip prevention strips as they are wood and it was raining which is common in the area. Otherwise, a peaceful escape.
- William (8/5): Right room at the right price - Nice view over looking golf course and driving range. Fairly basic but comfortable room - not like a business hotel but perfectly fine for a relaxing vacation. Nice. I place to go again this summer.
- Nick (2/5): Donor stay at this place - The facilities and rooms were run down and out dated. So dirty and totally a mess I would not recommend this place to my worst enemies
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Please quiet and beautiful views
- Belinda (10/5): Fun stay - Enjoyed our one night stay and golf. Staff was very friendly and the course in good condition.
We’ll be back again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful room, amazing view, good place for golf and relax and quiet for the family
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Golf course is pretty nice. Pool looked good, though I did not use it. Rooms are just a little older and TV didn't really work. Not a ton of dining options but golf was good.
- Agnes (10/5): 60s inspired resort yet comfortable and modern - Although the look of the resort is classic mid-60s, the interior of the hotel rooms is comfortable (great mattresses and pillows - foam) and roomy. Although there are small refrigerators in the rooms, there are no microwaves. However, we asked about a microwave and management was able to deliver one to our room immediately. All rooms have beautiful views of the golf course and the adjoining balconies feature (if desired) was available. Pool was open however didn’t have a chance to try it. Although removed from town(s) and in the countryside, easy and quick drives to Hendersonville, Brevard, AVL, Asheville and so much more.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nicely maintained golf property.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean rooms . All amentities were perfect. Picturesque location.
- Robert (8/5): - Everything was quite nice except for the WiFi reception. Even after being moved to a room with better reception, there were apps that would never pull up.
- Ryan (10/5): - Recently renovated room. Comfortable beds. Great and welcoming service.
- Kathleen (10/5): - The property and room was excellent.
The pool was closed the weekend before we arrived...bummer for our 80 degree days.
Also due to covid...no breakfast either.
A little discount would've been nice....
- Kimberly (6/5): - My only disappointment was the shower! No hot water! Need to upgrade hot water heater!!
- Roger (4/5): - Everything was OK except the bed was old and uncomfortable
- Jennifer (10/5): Lovely! - Very peaceful & quiet! Beautiful view & spacious room! Clean & comfortable! I’ve stayed in many hotels since new “Covid rules” have been in place ... such as no housekeeping while you are staying, which would mean I’d have to request more towels, soap etc but this place brought me stuff daily without me having to ask! I’ll definitely go back again!
- Julie (4/5): Not clean and not safe. Disappointing. - Cleanliness is not a priority. Our rooms smelled, the A/C leaked out on the patio where the flooring was so damp, we were afraid to walk on it because it felt like it was going to cave in. They allow dogs but we had to hunt and hunt for a trash can (is this why the rooms smell, perhaps?). The staff (Tim) was SO nice though. We did have high hopes for a nice supper as we saw a cute garden at the side of the restaurant with fresh veggies and herbs but no...it had to be the most bland food we have ever consumed. And the portions were tiny! The salmon was screaming for at the very minimum, some salt and pepper. The Caesar Salad for $8.50 barely covered the bottom of the take-out box and I’m quite certain it was one of those salad mix bags from Food Lion. We had to go get food afterwards as we were still hungry from......wait for it....Food Lion. So disappointing as we have children moving to Asheville and we hoped this would be our come-to place when visiting.
- Tim (6/5): - The good. It was cheap. The restaurant was great. If you like golf, this would be a good place to stay. The balcony was nice, and it could be linked together with the neighboring balconies on either side. Location was good. One could pull up to the downstairs rooms for easy loading and unloading. Downstairs rooms would be good for people who had trouble walking. The bad. The room had a old house smell to it that we were able to tolerate, but was unpleasant. The building made LOTS of noises as others moved around upstairs and beside us. I suggest ear plugs. The front desk NEVER had anyone attending it. It had a sign that never moved that stated the attended had stepped away from the desk. I had to walk the facility to find someone. At check out, the entire building was vacant and I had to go out to the golf maintenance building for help, who was no help. In conclusion, it will do in a pinch. This was a spontaneous trip for us, and if it were available for another spontaneous trip we would consider returning. On the other hand, if we were planning a trip, we would not consider this establishment.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Rooms were ok, view was nice. Noise upstairs keeps us up til 2am
- Freemanfamley (10/5): - Clean and supper friendly staff kids loved the clean pool
- Sara (8/5): - It is nothing fancy whatsoever but it was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We loved the location and even had a group of Elk walk across the course while we played golf. We will go back.
- Randal (6/5): Disappointing - The staff was fantastic, and the restaurant has excellent food, but the Parking spots were so skinny we had to pull out to load the car, and there were not enough of them at some of the buildings. The room was OK, but there was NO Microwave, the TV was tiny and had to propped up at an angle to see, the door had a HUGE gap at the bottom that let the humidity in, and the air conditioner kept the room either too hot or too cold--no in between. With a minimum of expense the rooms can be updated so they would be a lot more comfortable. Not sure if we'll come back.
- Margaret (6/5): - Great golf course and pro shop. People were great. Outdated rooms, tv didn’t work properly, could hear people above us loud and clear, ice machine did not work
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Musty room but good experience with golf vacation, pool, and easy drive to look at surrounding areas near Asheville.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I wish I could rented a golf cart, but you have to be a golfer. Its understandable, but it would have been fun to ride it around. :) I definitely would recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Enjoyed the stay. Very clean and friendly
- Candace (8/5): - Beautiful location, property was nice. A bit outdated, musty smell in room. Staff was great and we would stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The things we like about this property is the quiet and beautiful setting. We love sitting on the patio looking out over the golf course enjoying the surroundings. The staff has always been very nice and the rooms very clean. The only thing I don't care for is the tiny TVs they have.
- Ed (8/5): - It had a Convenient location and was a good value.
- Tsmyth24 (10/5): - Etowah Valley Golf & Resort has become one of our favorite places to visit and is always our first choice when we go to the Asheville area. The staff is always so friendly and accommodating, the rooms are clean and spacious, and the resort is quaint and offers everything we need for a nice relaxing trip. Can't wait to come back!
- ROBYN (10/5): - Clean. Excellent cusyomer service. Comfortable bed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - tv did not work fist day. house keeping did not come in first day.
