Guest Reviews
- Kelly (9/5): We had a great experience and enjoyed our 5 day mini vacation! - Our room was very clean, the hotel was in the perfect location and the free limo rides to and from anywhere in Petosky was a great surprise! All hotel staff were very nice and always gave great recommendations for restaurants and available activities that were nearby. There is nothing that we disliked about the property.
- Lee Ann (10/5): Awesome stay. - Staff was fantastic and really made the effort to make your stay stress free. Went above and beyond to assist where they could, you didn't have to ask for help. I liked everything about this hotel.
- Innovative Business (9/5): - Clean
Lots of Africans Location
- Alicia (8/5): - There was a good selection of breakfast items. The location was just minutes from shopping and downtown. The staff was friendly, and the rooms were well cleaned. We even enjoyed the pool area. The water pressure in our shower was very low which was disappointing.
- Denise (10/5): -
- Zackery (6/5): -
- Sduvall (3/5): - Nothing Accessible shower was a joke. Added in hand held shower on the side wall so odd and difficult to use. Tub/showet handles too far on wall from tub for assistance out. Old building grandfathered in so ada was not 100%. Front desk clerks were rude if you ask me. My husband said the whole town had no customer service that was pleasant. Room had an odd smell that made my eyes water.
- Sowa (9/5): -
- Starkey (10/5): -
- Todd (8/5): Good place for the money - Beds were very comfortable and room was very spacious A little outdated, didn't like everything was on the 2nd floor and I was on the ground floor
- Deanna (10/5): - The handicap room was great! The view was also great. The staff were great!
- Roth (10/5): -
- Christine (7/5): Only stayed one night so didn't use the pool or other amenities. - Breakfast okay. Enough variety of choices to help start out the day. Outside balcony light blazed away all night...Even the blackout curtains couldn't keep the light flooding into the room all night.
- Kevin (8/5): Nice. We just prefer less old facilities but otherwise nice. - Lobby was cute. Extremely outdated. Shower very small for tall man.
- Pauline (8/5): - Location and hot tub! Great breakfast! It was a handicap room and the toilet was so low and hard to get up and down. The shower faucet didn't work right and made it hard to stop water from coming into the tub while showering!
- Bright (8/5): - Clean and comfortable rooms Staff was extremely loud while cleaning the rooms on my floor. Yelling and cursing. Not arguing or anything just unnecessarily loud.
- Shae76 (10/5): Best quiet stay for the price - The room was spacious and the spa tub was amazing! Not applicable
- Anna (9/5): -
- Maritza (9/5): It was nice comfortable stay, staff was great! - Great location, nice spacious rooms

- Hadassah (10/5): Our stay was amazing - I liked that the property over looks town, and you guys have nice hot water. The only thing I didn’t like was how you have to press exit leaving
- Jose Miguel (7/5): Good place to crash - It's well located. The bedsheets had a foul smell, as if they were from previous guests.
- Jeff (10/5): -
- Kendra (10/5): - Conveniently located The deck lights
- scott (7/5): -
- Matt (7/5): Expensive Warm dry place to stay. - Breakfast was good. Room was quiet. Room had a view but not much and was to foggey to see anything in the AM. Price of the room was nearly double what we would see elsewhere or on a weekend that was not Valentines day. Facility was somewhat dated. Needs upgrades.
- Kyler (7/5): Good - It was in a good location Nothing
- ROBERT (9/5): For ski trips in the summer or visits to the Bay and beaches in the summer, this is the best value. - At this price point, this is the best deal I've found in the Petoskey / Harbor Springs area. While not a new building, it is in excellent condition and sparkling clean. Rooms a bit bigger, breakfast at least as good. The pool, spa and fitness area are will maintained. And here's a bonus - they offer a free shuttle to the downtown area and the casino.

- Jesutz (8/5): Loved it - Place was very nice and clean. The pool was beautiful and the shuttle was a really cool option. Our room had a beautiful balcony. Can't wait to come back and explore more when it's warm outside. I'm disabled so we rented a handicapped room. I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to get to my room, vending, the pool, and the lobby. We missed breakfast but heard it was really good for others in the place. Thank you for a wonderful evening! Nothing :)
- Dennis (5/5): Would not stay there again. - Room good. Bathroom needs updating. Only half of water diverted to shower. Water temperature hard to control. Room key did not work 2 days. Exactly same breakfast every day. Shower not working properly.
- Matt (9/5): -
- Mary (9/5): Just fine! - I like the location and value. The mattress was not comfortable.
- Geryl (10/5): -
- Bob (10/5): Nice night before Thanksgiving stay - Nice Nothing
- Chelsea (10/5): Great hotel.very clean staff was super friendly. Joey was amazing at the fron desk. They allowed us a late check out an - Close to where we needed to be. Everything was great. No complaints
- Ronald (10/5): -
- Jessica (5/5): - Pool out of order, elevator broken, key cards had to be reactivated multiple times. Carpet in room dirty. Needs updating.
- Beth (8/5): -
- Barbara (8/5): - very congested bagels were stale
- Pamela (7/5): Cute spot, perfectly nice for a couple nights - Proximity to downtown Petoskey is wonderful, nice view of the water, nothing exceptional but just a basic cute little place to crash The room was either absolutely freezing or muggy (like, there was a dampness to it that had nothing to do with the weather: the only way to pull some moisture out of the air was to run the AC but the second it reached its goal temperature and kicked off the room was palpably damp feeling again, but keeping the AC at a cold temp so it would run more wasn’t comfortable either. The beds were also very very soft which may be great for some but terrible for my back
- Judith (8/5): We would stay here again if we found ourselves in the area. - Apple Tree Inn was very conveniently located for the activities we had planned during our visit. The hotel was an updated version of the hotel style we remember from our travels early in our marriage with a cozy feeling we appreciated. Having the sink separate from the shower/toilet area was a nice feature of the room. The bed was quite comfortable and we enjoyed the included breakfast after a good night's sleep.

- Martina (10/5): - This was a very nice hotel, the counter staff was very friendly and helpful! We arrived early and couldn't check in (we were there at 1:00 and check-in was 3:00) and Renee helped us find a great place for lunch. Came back after 3:00 and checked in, asked for a dinner recommendation at that time - Renee hit her second homerun - the place she recommended for dinner was out of the world yummy (Lunch was Julienne Tomatoes, Supper was City Park Grill) - great suggestions. Room was super cute, very clean, bed was comfortable. Front desk was always helpful. Breakfast the next morning was typical hotel breakfast (waffles (my favorite), eggs, biscuits & gravy, bacon, yogurt, bagels). Coffee was decent. Hotel was very clean and staff of was out of this world friendly. I would stay here again if in this area of the world.
- Angela (7/5): Overall, we enjoyed our stay but the building could use some TLC. - Close to downtown. Friendly staff. Bed was super comfortable! The shower was very small. Our knob was broken for the shower. Shower fan was super loud. Light on balcony was on all night shining into our room. Workout area had no hand wipes, sanitizer or towels and pool room seems neglected. Building needs some updates.
- John (8/5): -
- April (9/5): Wonderful stay - Apple tree inn was very clean. Our room was comfortable, quiet and had everything we needed. . The staff was wonderful! Great hot breakfast. Location was great. Everything was great. No complaints.
- Dave (6/5): - Front desk staff This hotel is showing its age. Furniture and bathroom looked worn and overused.
- Barbara (9/5): -
- Mateo (10/5): Friendly , hospitable , helpful, great place great value great staff - All of it . Staff was fantastic ! Will be recommending . Many thanks Everything
- Jason (7/5): Nice stay - Location NA
- Kristen (7/5): Value and comfortable - The room was comfortable and nice for the price. Overall the renovations were pretty good but calling it a boutique hotel is almost false advertising. The location was good, near many restaurants and close to town. The view was great of the bay once the haze burned off! We heard everyone walking in the hall and in the room above us, running around and walking back and forth. It was very annoying. I would only accept a top floor room, if we went back, for that reason. The lock was missing on the sliding door to the balcony but we figured out there was a bar that kept it from opening. There was garbage on the balcony and a cup with cigarette butts in it even though there was no smoking allowed there. It just looks bad. The renovations were somewhat lacking in quality. Finally, the supposedly locked outside door to the building, that we were told needs a room key to open, doesn't lock.
- Linda (5/5): - Location was good. Breakfast was good! Elevators were broke. Pool and hot tub were closed for part of our stay!
- Larry (8/5): -
- Yue (7/5): - bed bathroom
- Robert (9/5): - The room was spacious and comfortable. The balcony was great. I am not a fan of the exterior entrance to the rooms, rather than entering in the front and going to your room from inside.
- Joy (8/5): -
- anton906Upper (10/5): Spacious rooms, great views, and hot tub rooms - My partner and I live in Traverse City, and we wanted to treat ourselves to a winter stay somewhere close. We chose Apple Tree Inn, in Petoskey. We loved the location. Easy to get in and out of the parking lot, and we loved exploring the side streets of Petoskey. We were able to go out for food, for drinks, on a winter hike alongside the river, and walk downtown with ease. We stayed in one of the hot tub rooms. You can tell this hotel is a little old, but is well taken care of. The hot tub was spacious and stayed hot the entire time we were in it, each time. You can also see the bay from your balcony and from the hot tub. Also loved that we could watch our favorite shows on the TV while being in the hot tub. The room was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfy. The front desk agents were wonderful as well, friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. We did not go to the complimentary continental breakfast, but it looked like they had quite a selection of items for everyone. We did try to use the pool room, but the pool was very cold, and the pool room could use some tic, but overall, it was nice and quiet. We would definitely stay here again.
- Jeffrey (10/5): -
- Carla (6/5): Average - Location Elevator was broken and they didnt salt the dangerously icy parking lot and our toilet kept plugging up because they had very cheap paper towel like toilet paper!
- lindsayk2026 (2/5): Not good - It looks way better on the outside. We arrived, got a room on the fourth floor and were told elevator as broken. Ice machine is broken. The heated pool is not heated at all and entirely freezing. The ‘spa’ was lukewarm and utterly disgusting. Disappointed in this holiday trip, for the price I paid I definitely would not choose to stay here. Never again.
- Borek (9/5): Superb - Clean and staff always goes above and beyond to help with any requests. Clean and safe
- Junyi (7/5): Good value clean room - 1. The location is perfect for grabbing a bite or taking a walk along the lake. 2. The room is spacious and clean. 3. coffee and apples are available at the lobby. 4. Hot tub opens till 11pm. Overall, it’s good value 1. The bathroom is old. Showers are hard to adjust. 2. The balcony light is always on and you can’t switch it off as there is no control in the room. Staff said it is supposed to be on. But the curtain is not the blackout type, so if you are sensitive to light when sleeping, it does bother.
- Cade (10/5): -
- Ryan (10/5): Great choice when staying in Petoskey - Clean and good location Small breakfast area
- Schiffbauer (3/5): Good place to stay, entrance way is unsafe due to ice, which could easily be removed with salt or sand - Very surprised at how good the breakfast was, the room was clean. People were nice at the front desk. I would have given it five stars however I came out to back entrance and fell on the ice. It was clear slick black ice. There’s no signs warning you. It was from a gutter that had overflowed and the water froze on the rug/parking lot. I know it’s winter And you have to be careful however I didn’t expect when I was still under the overhang to slip and fall it could’ve easily been remedied by one putting up a sign in two throwing some salt or sand down. I talked to the front desk. They did bring some salt. Fortunately, they left it, and I ended up salting the area The bruise and hurt on my backside really put a damper on my skiing. I just think more could’ve been done to prevent a fall like that I’m old, but fortunately I didn’t get hurt. An older person might not be so lucky strongly. Suggest you take some action on that.
- Becky (10/5): Very comfortalbe - Good variety N/A
- Todd (10/5): -
- barbara (9/5): Great stay, will be back for sure. - Clean, nice breakfast, great parking, friendly staff, spacious comfortable rooms and great view of water from 4th floor Toilet paper and tissue needs upgrading. Hot tub was great but pool was COLD.
- D (8/5): Good value - Great value Shower faucet was very corroded and needed replacement. Shower only has COLD water; perhaps faucet problem…
- Pioneer23134708879 (10/5): So accommodating! - We stayed here because of a medical procedure at a nearby hospital. The location was close to everything we needed. The room was clean and comfortable and the accessible room was nicely equipped. The mattresses were nice. Joey, at the front desk was especially helpful. It was obvious he truly cared about each guest's experience. Breakfast was delicious, and my 5 year old loved the pool and hot tub (although I did think the pool was a bit chilly). If we are ever in need of a place to stay in Petoskey again this hotel will be my first choice 🙂
- kimberly (10/5): -
- katie (1/5): Bed bugs and dirty - The view was nice. There are bed bugs. They moved us from 306 to 206 because of bedbugs and there was make up and cum stains on the sheets and comforter of room 206. The front desk guy named Fred said he would not be giving us a refund due to us not wanting to stay there over those 2 rooms. So now I’m fighting with them about a refund.
- Haske (3/5): Brief visit, good price and location. - Location, price. Room 202 had blood on the duvet and makeup on the towels.
- Floral (10/5): - Clean room The walk to the room
- Stephanie (10/5): -
- Cheryl (10/5): Traveling from Saginaw - Everything about this place was wonderful. We can't wait to go back!!
Everyone working there is so friendly and help make your stay so pleasant. Loved it all!!!
- Bill (10/5): Perfect stay - Staff ,clean ,location ,shuttle service, great view of the bay
- Englert (8/5): -
- Becky (10/5): - Did not use this I was charges twice for this stay
- Mary (7/5): Overall, the property was a decent place to stay. Decent rooms and breakfast food. - Breakfast was good. Price was good and the room was decent. I found the location to be convenient to everything I needed while staying in the area. The room seemed to be clean. The heater/air worked properly. Staff somewhat aloof. Cleaning staff did not respond to morning greeting. Shower was either partially clogged or water pressure too low. Staff at front desk seemed more engaged in talking amongst themselves than with the customers.
- Patty (10/5): Extended wine tour. - Room was clean and neat. Friendly staff. Delicious breakfast choices. Would definitely rebook, and recommend.
- cherie (7/5): - Pool, hot tub, parking, location, balcony, service A little older, needs updates
- Nicte (10/5): noche de descanso - la habitacion estuvo comoda y sin ruidos
