Guest Reviews
- Suzanne (8/5): Very convenient place to stay with good amenities. Pool and garden area was beautiful . - The pool area was beautiful . The grocery store was a close walk . Convenient to have a kitchen area. Had to take a Cab ride to the beach - wish it was closer but no fault of the property .
- larson (9/5): Staff very accommodating and facility very safe and secure I would highly recommend this place again - Very safe feeling and clean and comfortable tons of storage for clothing etc The pool if very chilly could use more sun exposure and water pressure was light but doable
- Charles (4/5): We were very disappointed in Booking.com’s description and rating of Villa Pajaros. - Booking.com rating (excellent) was a major disappointment. We’ll depend on other sources in future. There was no manager on site, getting fresh linens was a battle. The bathroom was inconvenient and small, there wasn’t a single comfortable chair to sit and read a book, and it wasn’t clean. As for Isla Mujeres, just so you know what to expect, it’s a party, touristy atmosphere, not a quiet getaway, and it’s pricey. It has one beautiful beach, but it’s overcrowded and commercialized with wall to wall “beach clubs”. The rest of the coastline is largely rocky or reefs, and hotels and villas occupy most of it. Rental fees for a gas powered golf cart (very popular with tourists) is $130.00 U.S. per day. We took a loss and left early (we were refused a refund) and spent a few days at a lovely hotel with a uncrowded beach in Cancun at extra cost. So we had to pay But the locals are very friendly and helpful, and the ocean is warm and clear.
- Shaydra (8/5): Affordable, lovely place, great host. Not the cleanest. - Our host, Frank, was amazing. Very helpful, even when we were very late to catch our ferry due to flight complications, he picked us up right from the ferry terminal, brought us to our place, showed us around, and reminded us not to drink the water. He was also helpful in our departure, allowing us to leave bags at a hotel near the ferry so we could enjoy our last day at the beach. The property was lovely and we often had the pool space to ourselves. Our apartment (eventually) became our cozy home for our time on Isla Mujeres. We enjoyed the distance from the touristy areas, even if that meant walking passed some more impoverished buildings. We always felt safe. We enjoyed feeling more immersed in island life by being around non-touristy things and shopping at the supermarket, Chedraui. I like a CLEAN space, and our kitchen and bathroom could definitely use a deep clean. There was lime scale build up, corners with gunk, the toilet had water(?) spots. I sprayed it with hand sanitizer and wiped and it came away brown. The walls of the bathroom also had some drips on them, leaving me to question how clean the shower was. One of our pillows had a yellow blotchy stain on it. Otherwise the bed felt very clean. We also killed like 10 bugs on our arrival (ants and some flying things). We only killed a few afterwards (over 9 days). I was pretty grossed out that first night but got over it. The cups had some dried stuff in them too. We washed everything (and soaked some) before using it.
- robert (8/5): Lovely grounds & convenient to get to the beach & restaurants with the golf cart. - Lovely with plants and flowers. Bright with wonderful colors. The electric fob to open and close the gate was handy. The pool was too cold & with a tarp hanging above that prevented the sun from warming it, no broom to sweep the inevitable sand, coffee pot held the water in the basket & didn’t flow to the pot, workers raked the rocks and roots of the trees outside our apartment at 1:30 and 4:30 am on two separate nights, quite far from either end of the island &, therefore needed to rent the golf cart for $100/day.

- Salomé (8/5): -
- Diane (10/5): Fantastic stay, will be back - Absolutely everything Later crowing roosters haha
- Tammy (10/5): - The pool was a lot bigger than expected! It was a beautiful seating area around it, and the owners were very kind. Our room was nice and clean! The doors were beautiful! They take pride in their property, and the grounds are beautiful! It is a very convenient spot on the island to stay. We will book here again. No complaints.
- Mark (10/5): Muchas gracias Jorge! - Very clean. Convenient kitchen. Supermarket in walking distance back toward centro. A/C in bedroom did cool entire apartment. Jorge, the property owner was very friendly and worked hard to communicate with my elementary Spanish. He even offered us a ride to the ferry when we checked out. Arturo, the apartment owner and primary online contact also helped with golf cart rental, although Jorge apparently owns a competitor, which I didn’t discover until his free tour of the island on the way to the ferry. Location is 3km from ferry terminal and Playa Norte, where most of the commercial activity is, although there are great restaurants and less crowded beaches nearby.
- Filippo (8/5): - Nos gustó’ el sitio, limpio y funcional!
Hay que tener en cuenta que necesitas algo para desplazarte.
A mí no me afectó porque leyendo los comentarios anteriores decidí alquilar uno scooter!
Recomiendo
- tania (9/5): - The pool area is fantastic, the bed is comfortable and the kitchen had all the necessities to make our breakfast and dinners. The very nice man across the street drove us to the airport (he offered) and wouldnt accept any money. The staff answers all inquiries instantly, even when we said no rush (request for replacement garbage bags). The only thing we didnt love was the roosters (they are everywhere on the island). Learned on the first morning to have music play overnight and that worked! We also would have loved some room darkening curtains, the ones they have are very cheerful but dont block a lot of sun.
- Michelle And Luc (10/5): - Clean facilities
Convenient
Great hosts
The pool was at the perfect temperature
Helped us get a golf cart and was very accommodating
- Edward (9/5): excellent - Supermarket 3 blocks away. Wave down bus or taxi outside. Restaurants 5 blocks away More toilet paper to last a week
- Sophia (10/5): - We received efficient and friendly help every time we reached out to Villa Pajaros with a question or request. We had a group of 10 staying in various suites during our time there and it was the perfect set up for us. We got a lot of value out of our stay at Villa Pajaros and would, without a doubt, stay again. We enjoyed the pool but wish it hadn't had a sun cover so we could've spent more time there/lounging in the sun. That being said, we can understand why some people might want the pool to be protected from the sun.
- Alison (10/5): Extremely happy. - An oasis in a perfect location Nothing
- Laurent (8/5): -
- Aljaž (10/5): Perfect Stay - That was best stay in all locations we have been in Mexico. Location, apartment, oztside area, pool, owner everything was perfect. They gave us discount for golf cart, they gave us a ride to marine for free and bought us ashtrays. I very much reccomend this place to all.
- Barclay (9/5): Great stay on Isla Mujeres! - We were greeted on time upon our arrival to Isla Mujeres by the manager, Frank, who provided a complimentary shuttle to the Villa. He introduced us to the room and provided the keys. We refreshed ourselves shortly after in the wonderful pool. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The kitchen provided the basics we needed to prepare the meals we chose to make at home. The property is well maintained, perhaps given that the owner lives in the new home adjacent to the rental units. We travelled around the island using taxis and the public bus. You do not need a golf cart if you choose. Frank arranged an early morning departure taxi shuttle to the Ultramar Ferry for us that was on time. Overall we were very pleased and would stay at Villa Parajos again. Unfortunately, there was construction going on building the owner's new home creating unpleasant noise for relaxing by the wonderful pool. Looking forward, when this is finished it will be a great place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the island.
The other concern were the neighbourhood roosters! Bring ear plugs and you will sleep better. This is quite common everywhere on the island.
- James (7/5): Lovely pool area and relaxing property with basic and scanty amenities and remote location. Overpriced. - Friendly and quiet place with very nice and relaxing swim pool. Bedding was comfy and AC worked. Affordable island bus line stops at driveway (flag the driver to stop) and plenty of taxis if you are in a rush. Location is not really near any attractions and the area roadways are not having continuous sidewalks or lighting—and there is animal waste on pathways, so be careful! Management is NOT on site which is inconvenient for checking in/out (which differs from instructions on Booking.com). Although a 24hr guard at gate was mentioned at check-in, s/he was never observed at all for the whole week! Note there is no shuttle to anything. No smoke detectors in rooms, which is worrisome. Water pressure in shower and kitchen sing is very low—just better than a fast drip. Housekeeping is only weekly and there was insufficient toilet paper. All door locks were loose. No strongbox for valuables present in room. Management should provide each room with an information card having: (1) Address of property; (2) Phone # of manager for emergencies; (3) Phone # of local police; (4) Phone # of fire and paramedic for emergencies; (5) Location of trash bin; (6) Phone # for taxi service at night. (7) Location of a coin laundrette. All this aside, stay was pleasant and relaxing. Nice to experience this aspect of island life, but I wouldn’t stay again. Definitely not a 3-star experience.
- davidburns (10/5): - Frank was very helpful available and courteous
- Elliott (9/5): - Good
- Cassandra (9/5): Counting the days until I can return! - It’s a great place, will stay again! Nothing!
- DJ (10/5): - We absolutely loved this property! Frank , our host was VERY attentive to any requests and was super accomodating. The property had all of needs covered...and was super clean and comfortable. It was easy to catch a cab/bus in front of the property and a quick walk to to the grocery store. We would def stay again!
- Wendy (9/5): -
- Debra (5/5): - I liked that the pics online did NOT match the current state of the property. Also that there was not a seating area in the garden. There was a fee for maid service. Four different kinds of bugs in the room. Walace the rooster, waking me up every morning at 3:30- 4. The pool was shaded.
- Mary (10/5): Great Stay at Villa Pajaros - We loved being off the tourist strip at Villa Pajaros. Our host, Frank, made sure all of our needs were met. He arranged a golf cart rental for us and we could tour the island at our leisure
The pool was clean and refreshing. We loved having a kitchen! It was a quiet location.
The space was very comfortable and clean. The murals of birds were terrific!
It is a bit of a walk to restaurants and grocery, but certainly doable!
It’s was a great place to relax and to serve as a home base as we toured Isla Mujeres.
- Rebecca (10/5): Awesome!! - The place was lovely. We really appreciated how well stocked the apartment, especially the kitchen was. The apartment felt extremely safe and we appreciated how lit up it was at night. It wasn't super close to downtown, but cabs were 6-8 bucks CAD each way. There was a lovely little restaurant half a block away that we ate dinners at several nights. The bed was super comfy! It was a bit pricey, but it was probably more expensive because it was peak season. There is a rooster than crows in the morning, but that's pretty much the only annoyance about the whole place.
- Steve (8/5): - Nice clean property. Beautiful pool and property. The unit was beautiful and modern. Had a nice kitchen and the bed was fabulous!
- felix (10/5): -
- RICHARD (8/5): Overall, for the price we paid, we’d recommend this facility to anyone - The grounds were well maintained, the communication with Frank was great, the pool was refreshing and we enjoyed the lounge chairs. The multiple terraces within the facility was something we also enjoyed. We could see the sunset and sunrise from the rooftop each night if we wished. The room had everything we required on this trip. Found the bed to be a little uncomfortable, the room was small and the construction all day wasn’t great for relaxing by the pool.
My only complaints, the pros outweigh the cons.
- Bastian (7/5): -
- Guest (8/5): we had a fabulous time and would stay here next time we return - the location and the pool construction next door
- Maxie (8/5): Facility ok but prefer to be on the beach - Facilities Too far from beach
- John (8/5): - Frank was very helpful. Pool area was excellent. Near supermarket (<10mins walk). Good location A small comfortable sofa in the bedroom would be good.
- Catherine (7/5): lovely pool, functional apartment - quiet location on a busy island daily housekeeping (as advertised) wasn’t! after requesting it they promised every other day. Free bicycles (as advertised) do not exist.
- Heath (8/5): -
- Jen Scott (9/5): comfortable, pretty, awesome place to stay overall - the pool, and the very comfortable bed, and the fans the roosters begin crowing at 3:30am-4am, and the distance to get into town. the stay should come with a scooter or golf cart to use
- Bill Todd (8/5): I enjoyed my stay at Villas Pajaros except for the water issue. - This unit was an apartment with equipped kitchen. The king bed was comfortable and although it is located just off a busy route, it was quiet from traffic. The morning roosters were another story..... ear plugs help but I got used to them. Villas Pajaros is located mid island. The public bus goes by roughly every 30 minutes (10 or 20 pesos) and it's easy to flag a taxi as well. Villas Pajaros has a beautiful pool area and ample areas to relax, eat al fresco and charcoal grill if you're inclined. There is a laundry service just around the corner which was wonderful. Walking distance to mid island restaurants (e.g. Oscar's is 300 meters) and about 300 meters to the Chedraui, the major island grocery & liquor store. It is certainly possible to walk to centro and I did this several times for exercise, but renting a golf cart or moto would makes sense. I found it best to walk on the other side of the island. Management was responsive. There are a lot of stairs between the apartments and the parking / pool area. I was supplied with a small jug of drinking water on arrival but it is quite inconvenient to buy drinking water from the Chedraui. You have to take a taxi to get it, and it causes to much plastic waste. To me it is inexcusable that Villas Pajaros does not supply water in the large, reusable 5 gallon jugs.
- Nancy (8/5): Lots of pluses but some minuses as well - Lots of room, lovely pool area, clean facilities, pleasant staff. Easy to get to by bus or taxi and walking distance to a terrific supermarket at Chedraui and to Oscar's restaurant. The water supply went off three times during the week. The staff responded quickly but it was a nuisance. One shower stopped working completely on the last day. There was construction noise right next door and the workers played loud music all day. There was a lovely outdoor area for congregating and grilling but no working grill. The pool shower had no water. This was a shame because a great deal of work has gone into creating a beautiful outdoor space by the pool. It has enormous potential but needs a little work to finish off. I hope they fix up these little things because it is a great pool area and outdoor space and we spent a lot of time there. It's quite beautiful and clean. Lots of pluses.
- Robin (8/5): Not a luxury stay but a solid unit and great bed - Great location mid island. Set back from the road so there was no road noise. Close to the islands main grocery store though the side walks to get there would be tough if you had any mobility issues. Stairs to second level.had a 4 inch rise so easy to climb. Had everything we needed including beach towels. Beautiful wood carved furniture..pool and grounds were cleaned daily. Nice shared patio spaces. Lots of storage and closet space. Very safe area of the island. Very comfortable king sized bed and pillows. Air conditioner was newer and worked well. Check in was very easy and quick, right across from the ferry terminal. We were then taken down to the unit by golf cart. Water stopped working now and then but it was always fixed quickly. Bathroom was very small..Kitchen plates and bowls and cutlery were dollar store quality but they did the trick. Weak internet. TV but not a smart TV so no options for Netflix or English programming. Inside seating was table and 2 chairs. Chairs were just wooden fold up chairs and were not comfortable..
- Julien (8/5): -
- Guest (9/5): Excelente - la limpieza, el departamento hermoso, el predio, la pileta, la amabilidad del personal. queda un poco alejado del centro, pero con taxi o carro llegas inmediatamente
- Warren (10/5): Our stay - Privacy. Close to supermarket/pharmacy/restaurants. Loved these people!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely, peaceful mid island visitor accommodation - Villa Pajaros is a four apartment floor of a lovely white stucco residential building in a local compound. It is owned by the owner of Gomar Hotel of downtown Isla . The Villa compound is very peaceful and picturesque with beautiful plants, myna (?) birds and iguanas. The setting is on the main road Rue Medina about 2 miles from town . It is in a large local neighborhood that has some restaurants and cafés within walking distance, along with a large supermarket that has everything you would ever need. The owner can fix you up with a golf cart rental right at the house. The pool is really lovely and we spent afternoons there by ourselves. Super peaceful. It felt like we had a private villa. The staff working in the compound for the owner were unobtrusive and polite. We got daily light housekeeping and towels changed mid week. The bedroom was comfortable, king bed, very good bedding. My husband slept better than at home. Good wifi in the room. Not at pool. The bathroom is small but adequate. Plenty of hot water for showers. The kitchen is clean and full of brand-new appliances and utensiles. The kitchen was very hot from the morning sun. But the Aircon in the bedroom worked just fine and kept us comfortably cool. This is A neighborhood type setting, so you don't get any beach views, but we loved being outside of the Central District for the peace an quiet.
- Steve (8/5): Nice surprise! - Clean, quiet, friendly staff, fun near by. A little small, but I'd stay again.
- KatieRedding (10/5): Very private and quiet - Loved the location and the entire place. The bathroom was a little tight, but otherwise fantastic stay for the price.
- Sandra (8/5): Villa in Isla - The owner/ operator was extremely helpful even though he was not fluent in English and our Spanish was lacking. He was happy to help us get settled and eager to please.
- Carol (10/5): Paradise - This condo turned out to be more than we could have wished for . Jorge was so amazing . He couldn't have done more to make our stay perfect . The room was clean and comfortable . The pool was great with covered area in case of rain or strong sun. You do need a golf cart as it is 10 minutes from the beach and restaurants. The grounds are so well kept and every one is so friendly. When we go back we will stay here.
- Colleen & Kevin (10/5): Fantastic place to stay - Loved everything about this place ! Booking again right away for next year! All four units booked together is an awesome time with friends
- brickstime (10/5): nice villa, everything was amazing! - the villa was amazing. the owner is outstanding. the whole trip was fabulous.
- bnlauto (10/5): villa pajeros stay - everything was great! the owner of the villa is outstanding! will go back again!
- Mike (8/5): Hidden Gem - I confess, don't want everybody to discover this great spot. If you enjoy a quiet relaxing spot with the ability to do some of your own cooking, this is it. Beautiful pool with shade available, within walking distance of Chedrui store.
- Sarah (10/5): - Great Stay! Apartments were very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The owners/managers could not have been more accommodating! Would stay there again!
