- Brad (4/5): - The best thing about our stay was the ladies at the front desk. They were so friendly and talkative. The room is very outdated and dingy. Light bulbs needed to be replaced. The walls are paper thin. You can hear absolutely everything that was going on. We were on the bottom floor and unfortunately we had a bunch of people above us stomping back and forth the whole time. We were out there for a concert at the Caverns, so we basically just slept there. Or, I should say we tried to get some sleep in between all the stomping and noise. For the amount that we paid for the room, I was expecting a little better accommodations.

- Jill (10/5): Fluffy towels - The room was clean the towels were fluffy and the sheets were crisp. Despite the highway being very close it couldn’t be heard. The staff was very nice and had great recommendations for supper. Would stay there again.
- Tami (6/5): - Very rustic experience. Very basic for the price we paid for one night stay. Get ready for basic appliances, stove, and very small microwave. Coffee pot only serves 3 cups (very small old appliance) NO Kerig present for coffee (no single cup Kerig). You must let the small coffee pot cool before you place the prepackaged coffee in the pot (only two for room-non decaf). Very-Very poor lighting through-out the cabin and the road to the cabin does not have lights or pathway lights. Hard to see. Cabin is not suitable for small children as the cabin is not-in anyway child proof. It is a pet friendly cabin, all linens, couch, and pillows had the odor of a wet dog. Dead bugs in garden tub. We stayed overnight, but would have appreciated previous renters' views and comments before we booked, Over-priced for the accommodations. Cabin was paid in advance via Hotels.com, and the Smokehouse lodge (elderly clerk) seemed confused as to giving me a key when I discussed Hotels.com gave a security code to use as a keyless entry.There is not keyless entry. A card at desk issued for entry once you leave your credit card information on file for "incidentals." We be staying on Swanee Campus (Uni of South) for future seminars. Private AirBnb's are cheaper, more up-to-date, and safe with campus security on site. More than adequate lighting for security. We hope this is helpful information for the next potential renter. No future lodging for us at the Smokehouse Lodge. Thank-you

Feces on the toilet, lot of hair on the floor, hair, all around the toilet, hair on the pillowcases, dog hair and stains on the chairs, the floors were so dirty. It turned the bottom of my feet black, the faucets were dirty and the smell was horrible. I showed the pictures to the lady at the front desk and she switched us rooms. The second room smelled even worse and was just as dirty, except for there was not feces on the back of the toilet. For the price I expected much better.

The property offers limited service and the restaurant is only open limited hours on weekends. There isn’t much in the area so be prepared to drive for a good meal.

Shower was stained in dirt as well as the sink was caked in some kind of residue. It’s clear they’re not really cleaning these rooms aside from like changing the sheets. It only worked for me because i was there one night and was alone. But if you’re with family and going multiple nights choose somewhere else.

- Michelle (8/5): - We always love staying here. Monteagle is a nice, quaint town. The cabins are cute and rustic and there are places nearby to eat and make merry. The mattresses are also better than those at most hotels. I had to go to the office too many times this stay…for a new key card. I didn’t know I shouldn’t put the key next to my phone/other cards. If the cabins got a good deep cleaning, it would be even MORE enjoyable to stay here.
- Ken (8/5): - We went to dinner at their restaurant. Our server was very nice, but the food took forever. Everyone that came in after us was served promptly, when our server came to us to apololgize she said the cook was taking orders out of order. We still waited and finally had to go up to the desk, were told our order is ready just waiting for the brussels sprout, but someone next to us was just served his brussels sprout and he just came in. Then our order is delivered without one of our meats and we had to go ask for it. So, someone needs to work on their cooks and proper handling of orders. We were disappointed but the food was delicious.

Maybe it was due to the heat/humidity, and it’s like that all the time but it caused some discomfort as I had to use an extra blanket that was in the drawer to sit and sleep on top of.

- David (10/5): Smokehouse rocks! - Smokehouse is awesome. Wife and I went for concerts at the caverns close by and it was perfect—great place to hang with fellow concert goers for the weekend. Has a humble, resort-like feel, and the staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. Only a short walk to the Pig, Waffle House, and a couple liquor stores so all the essentials are covered. This will be our go-to next time.

The cabins are spacious and beautiful, with a large jacuzzi tub, fireplace and fire pits/fire wood outside. Good attractions nearby, about 30 min from Ruby Falls and Rock city. We will definitely be staying here again!

- Joseph (8/5): - This is a unique, family-owned motel. The staff is excellent - welcoming and efficient. The room was sparking clean. But the buildings are aging. The air conditioner didn’t cool the room well. And the sheet had a hole in it. But the price was right, and the motel is convenient to the highway.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Get what you pay for - The linens had animal hair all over both beds and human hair on the floors. The tub stopper didn't work but i guess that didnt matter because during showers the water wouldnt drain adequately. The staff were very friendly and accomodating

- Thomas (4/5): - We gave this place two stars because it does have a fun little BBQ honky tonk with great food and music on the weekends. Otherwise, the place is really rundown. Our room furniture smelled like wet dogs and the room was always humid even with the air conditioner going full blast. There are no amenities at the motel to speak of. WAY overpriced at $100/ night. It would be better to stay at the chain motel down the road by the Waffle House and just go to the honky tonk for BBQ and music.

Screened in porch is nice, but it was not clean and had uncomfortable seating. Not enjoyable stay, but appreciated the low cost and convenience.
