- Laura (10/5): Did not stay there and could not find way to cancel - They did not have my reserved room available They were sold out and no attempt was made to help me
- Janene (10/5): Beds were very comfy - Location is nice and quiet, only 5 min outside downtown. Would have liked larger or more bath towels
- Donald (9/5): Good to excellent - Pretty good
- Janet (7/5): The room was very clean with the exception of the goat heads. The bed was very comfortable. - The room had several goat heads in the carpet. The stairs to the second floor were very unstable, felt unsafe. The outside floor could've been swept.
- Thomas (10/5): I had a great visit. Staff was super. Breakfast was surprisingly good! - The location was perfect for getting out to watch the Sandhill Crane migration. Nothing to dislike.
- jan6790s (2/5): NO NO NO NO - no hot water!!!
flashing CO detector in sleeping area
overpriced
- Mark (9/5): -
- Stephanie (3/5): - The room is totally outdated. The dresser fell apart the fridge didn't work and the TV kept turning off.
- Ramon (10/5): Great stay -
- Christopher (8/5): -
- Frank (1/5): Terrible - Nothing No breakfast the guy at front counter was rude food cockroache in bathroom the sheets on the bed were dirty the heat didn't work very well it was terrible I won't ever stay thear again
- Max (4/5): Pretty disappointed at not being able to see the movie from our rooms - Breakfast was fine. Rooms were clean. Parking was adequate I made the reservation specifically for a Saturday night because I wanted the experience of watching the drive in movie from my room. At check in, the clerk said my reservation did not “qualify” for a room with a movie screen view. He put us out in a separate “annex” building that was far away from the screens. We could just barely see the very top of the screens from our location. He did not seem to care, said we could drive over inside the area and watch the movie from there. That might have been acceptable if we had been traveling in a vehicle, but since we were on 5 motorcycles, it wasn’t a workable solution
Also, the “annex” building is used by employees for on site living quarters. They seemed to make a lot of noise and a lot of coming and going all night long.
- Marsha (6/5): It met our needs for the night. - Breakfast was good. The building we were in was specific to those with dogs, the room and building were outdated.
- David (6/5): The stay was pleasant, the cost was a little high. - The quality of the towels and wash clothes has gone down, the breakfast is also subpar compared to the last times I'd stayed there. It seems the current management has let the overall quality of the Movie Manor slip. Breakfast was subpar, the towels/wash clothes felt like they should have been replaced last year. They were very rough on the skin and not as quality as before.
- Virginia (10/5): Excellent - Breakfast was good, location perfect and staff very friendly and helpful
- Paul (9/5): Very happy with accommodations. - Good value, good breakfast. There seemed to be a pretty large temperature range at any given temperature setting, cycling between a bit warm and a bit cold. Maybe a thermostat issue with the wall unit?

- Aniruddha (9/5): Must experience…!!! - After seeing the pictures and reading the reviews, I was really looking forward to my stay here. And it really lived up to my expectations.
Firstly, the most interesting concept of this hotel - the open movie theater and watching from room was closed for the season but I really didn’t mind it. Although would have loved it.
Coming to the property - it is out there in nowhere. The views and exceptional from anywhere in this property. The rooms are named after Hollywood stars, their names are inscribed on the floor when you are about to enter the lobby.
The room was clean and spacious. No complains. There were few issues - like the hot water was taking time to dispense. But I can ignore that. That’s my personal opinion.
The lobby and breakfast area is beautiful as well. The breakfast was really nice. This time being off season for the area wasn’t crowded at all and there were very few guests. The host served us hot cheese omelettes and sausages when we asked him for refill. That was really a grand gesture. 5 star for the service.
Highly recommend to anyone visiting this area or the Great Sand Dunes national park.

- leesh2023 (2/5): Disgusting establishment urine in the floor and stains on the sheets - In my opinion DO NOT STAY AT THIS DUMP) or any Best Western Hotel, they rent you a room that look like this and then don't want to give you your money back after you inspect the room and Best Wester knows they do this. They were informed and just said we will give t $25 gift card for your experience
- Joyce (10/5): -
- Robert (9/5): Motel Room with a Drive-In-Movie outside your window! - What's not to like about having a Drive-In Movie theatre outside your window?! The sound was piped into the room, so we sat in chairs and watched. We could have watched it from bed, too but chose not to. The breakfast, in the morning was decent, too. It was a nice, clean comfortable room with a great Mexican restaurant next door. We couldn't have been happier. It's convenient to Sand Dunes National Park and The U.F.O. Watchtower.
- Hans (3/5): - Very unfriendly by check in
- randyrE3018RN (2/5): Disappointing Experience After Years of Loyalty - Unfortunately, the experience we had after checkout has completely changed our opinion of the Movie Manor Inn. We will no longer be recommending it or staying there again.
- baca (10/5): -
- Nomad64948978448 (4/5): Pass this lodging up if you want any modern amenities. - Old and worn out. Bath area so small you have to squeeze to shut the door. TV/remote hard to understand; difficult to find channels and printed material with listing outdated so useless.
- Db1B2 (2/5): Go elsewhere - Just bought yourself a negative review for **lack of follow through – do read the entire entry. Very deserving of a gazillion zeros.
I called the hotel directly to make reservations. Very difficult to understand the person. With those challenges, I had to ask a few times about any discounts they offer. AAA is the most popular, you can guess. I was given one choice of bed size, a king, but certainly would have accepted a queen for less money. There was no indication of full capacity or not. The person had no sense of being pleasant or human, but only robotic.
An average room at best. The movie was ignored.
Upon seeing the bill, I was aghast at the lack of anticipated discounts. I called the hotel to inquire. Expecting apologies, I received a lengthy, unintelligible diatribe that sounded rather defensive, which I couldn’t fathom since I only posed a question. I requested a return call from the manager/owner.
To verify any information provided from the hotel staff, I called their reservation line with the same questions. At least I could understand the agent. The regular rate I was told was definitely not 179.00, plenty of discounts were available, bedding choices – but the kicker was that the ‘reward’ rate was much lower. No, I was not asked whether I was a member or offered that same price at the time of reservation. (The rate could have easily been $20 less. Not significant normally, but when false information is dispensed carelessly, it becomes an issue.) Furious over the new-found ammunition, I phoned the hotel asking for the manager/owner again. Not in, didn’t know when he/she was expected on site. Asking for the email address (fully doubting the validity) I thought a paper trail might bring about a resolution. I dashed off a query and honestly did not expect a response.
Too much time passed. Phoning the hotel again (I’ve lost count of the number of times) I asked when the manager/owner was due in. I could not decipher what was said, mumbled thank you and hung up.
Oddly enough my phone rang moments later. Really, I thought, not on the property? We had a long conversation, and you guessed – some of which I could not interpret. I endured many excuses, which a guest should not be exposed to. Terminating employees. Mistakes were made. Staffing issues mentioned ad nauseum, further impacting cleaning. I told her the hotel couldn’t have been fully booked. She sounded sincere, so I was hopeful. The only concern of mine was the deception at the time of reservation, and her making right. The best solution she could offer was a 7% refund. Seriously? Even after acknowledging the errors.
You read that correctly, a whopping seven percent, simply less than $10.
** To date, weeks after the incident, still no refund.
My husband - nor I - will ever return. We most assuredly do not recommend staying here.
- Natasha (10/5): - Clean and very plenty employees
- Dawnta (9/5): -
- Bill (8/5): - Nice place for the money
- Eric (8/5): - Watching a drive in movie from my room was pretty cool.
- Lisa (2/5): - Horrible, dirty, tiny, smelly, unsafe
- David (10/5): - Very fun experience and the owners were so friendly. Rooms are older but very clean.
- Gary (8/5): - Interesting concept. You could watch a drive in movie from your room. Room was clean. Bed comfortable. Good breakfast
- Nomad33876135940 (2/5): Awful place 😠 - We read the reviews and picked this hotel because of them.
This was the worst place ever.
Dirty, had to hold toilet paper holder together or your toilet paper would fall on the floor. Ceiling in bathroom was starting to fall down. Man checking us in couldn’t find my points to redeem. I could hardly understand him so not sure about why he couldn’t find me in the system. A/C wasn’t very good. The overall stay was awful!! I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Oh and my sheets were stained badly. He also quoted me one price and when I went out to discuss it with friends and came back in it was more money.
OH AND NO MOVIE which he said would start at 7:15pm.
- Peter (10/5): -
- Lyla (10/5): - It was a very nice place clean, the breakfast was good and the view from the dining area awesome
- A6658BYnancym (10/5): Great experience. - Always wanted to try this hotel, finally did. Loved the whole experience. Clean, friendly staff, great breakfast. Older hotel but we'll maintained. The whole movie theme was delightful.
- Shawna (10/5): - Great stay !
- Frank (10/5): - The room was large, bed and pillows were comfortable, and bathroom clean. Watching a drive-in movie from our room was cool and a nice bonus on our trip. We like the continental breakfast before we left.
- Dan (2/5): - Too much to list! Best Western should take their name off this place and Expedia should remove it!
The concept is GREAT and I really looked forward to having the grandkids watch from the room BUT the movie was NOT kid friendly nor was it funny.
The window was FILTHY and tough to see out of so the movie from the room idea is worthless.
MOLD, YES LOTS OF MOLD in the shower, AND I have pictures. Miserably dated and worn! It's fine for constructions crews and truckers but families should AVOID THIS PLACE!
He was nowhere to be found when I got there to check in and didn't answer his little bell. He pulled up in his car (why no 'be back in 10 note) and was put off that he had to do this. His English was okay, but his dialect and inflection was horrible, and I had to ask him a few times to repeat what he said and after the second time he got angry and just slammed stuff around.
I have NEVER written a revies like this but please take my advice and AVOID THIS PLACE! Fun idea but zero delivery!
- Yuriy (6/5): -
- Diesel (10/5): - The spaciousness of the rooms and the outdoor drive-in movie theater was just amazing touch. I've never seen a hotel offer such an amenity but it is a nostalgic. Wonderful item that they've added. It makes the hotel one of the best I've ever stayed in. The staff checking you in is an absolute dream. He is wonderful. One of the nicest people. The rooms are spacious clean. I mean extra clean and they're all aimed after movie stars. This is a absolute, fabulous place to stay. If you're ever this way in Colorado, please please take the time to stop and stay here. You will not be disappointed and the breakfast is awesome. Eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy cereal everything you can imagine and it is one of the most fantastic free breakfasts I have ever had and I've stayed in plenty of hotels while traveling for my job. Please stay at this hotel. It is absolutely amazing I loved everything about this hotel and so will everybody else. There is nothing negative to write about this hotel
- Medina (8/5): -
- Diane (7/5): - The movie
- theodore (6/5): - Needs updating
- Paul (8/5): - Fun to watch the big screen movie
- Michelle (8/5): - Segregated in annex building due to dog (not safe if alone). Literally slept in the dog house. Cold breakfast with broken chairs in dining room.
However, beds & hot showers were great.
- Lisa (10/5): Good place to stay - The place is a bit worn but clean and we enjoyed our stay. the bathroom is tiny but has a HUGE area outside of the bathroom with plenty of area by the sink for toiletries. Absolutely will stay again
- Bart3193 (10/5): Room at a drive-in, how novel - This is no Ritz, but for the price of the hotel you get a movie at the drive in during season. You can either sit in your room or drive in and watch from your vehicle. If there are two movies playing and you stay two nights both are free. Only one is sound piped to your room though. Try to get a second story room. Plus all the rooms have actor/ess names so that’s fun.
The beds are comfortable. Rooms come with hotel fridge and microwave. Our room also had hair dryer, iron, and ironing board. Lots of room for luggage. We had three people and we didn’t feel crowded.
Breakfast is your run of the mill hotel breakfast. I had no complaints. There is a Mexican food restaurant near the property. We really enjoyed the food.
Staff was friendly and somewhat helpful. We asked for a grocery store and was told wasn’t sure as they shopped in Alamosa. There are two in Monte Vista, one being a Safeway.
We’d stay here again. The novelty of the drive-in is what makes it enjoyable.
- Cindy (2/5): - I intentionally stayed here and booked a room with a view of the theater screen from the bed and my view does not show the theater at all. I tried to work with the desk agent and he was very short with me saying that they didn’t have any rooms with a view and I would have to deal with Expedia..
- Corene (10/5): -
- Kimberly (7/5): -
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Kind and courteous owners
- Duoli (8/5): - Not bad for a night stay
- Robert (8/5): - OK. Movie feature over-hyped
- Justin (10/5): - Unique property with a view of the drive in Theater and speakers to the rooms. Was definitely a different experience. If you stay try to check in early enough with time before movies start
Room was simple and clean. Just slightly out of town enough to keep things quiet
- Jennifer (8/5): - We had a great stay. We stayed for 2 nights. Went there on a recommendation and am so happy we made it part of our plans. The movie was Fabulous Four and we enjoyed watching and listening to it in our room. Not a fancy hotel but we found it to be just right for us. Breakfast was included and they did a good job at stocking the products
- Verified traveler (6/5): Meh - Room was very hot; air conditioner didn’t make a dent in it. We were disappointed in the movie view. That’s the big draw for this motel and it really wasn’t very good.
- Nina (6/5): - The idea of a drive-in movie motel is interesting, but could not see the screen with any lights on in the unit. No instructions as to how to listen to the movie (discovered accidentally). The clerk at check in was quite unfriendly. The bathroom had moisture damage and a smelly shower curtain. Located 2 miles out of town.
- Samantha (2/5): - I have stayed here before and had no major issues. This time was a whole different story. We checked in around 9:15 pm and decided to go to town to pick a few things up. When we arrived back at the hotel we went to our room…or what we thought was our room. I swiped the key card and the inside latch was latched. We called the front desk to make them aware that the door would not open. Maintenance was called to help us. Upon arriving maintenance used the key and then broke the latch to let us in only to find that the room was already rented to SOMEONE ELSE!! A man jumped out of bed in shock surprised that his door had just been broken. Upon apologizing we were offered a room right next door to the double booked room we were offered at first!!
We declined to stay there and were given a room on the bottom floor. We would have gone elsewhere but due to our late arrival and lack of rooms nearby we chose to stay in the room offered. Luckily the situation did not escalate, as barging in on a sleeping person could have ended up much worse!
- Snodgrass (1/5): Would not recommend staying here. Could be a cool location but it’s in desperate need of an update and staff that cares - The attached drive in movie theater was the only good thing about this location We had dirty sheets. No soap or shampoo in the dispensers and had asked the hotel stall for more, but they never did come to refill them. At night the bugs came out and we ended up leaving there were so many inside our room.
- wt524 (8/5): Overall enjoyed it, with good breakfast and family friendly movies. - Went with my wife for birthday. Hotel was decent and was at the back of the drive-in. The room was pretty clean but the shower curtain had some dirt on it. The window wasn't centered with the bed (room 101 - Gene Hackman) so you would have to both be at one side to watch. But you could sit on a chair, too. The sound was good, but we drove our car around and watched the other movie screen (included). The breakfast was pretty complete, waffles, egg folds with cheese, toast, juice, coffee, fruit, oats and instant with 5 or 6 toppings, sausage and gray with biscuits, bagels, muffins, yogurt, and two different milks, and a couple of cereals. There was probably something i missed, overall pretty nice, There was a person keeping the breakfast supplied, but they could have wiped tables occasionally. There were at least ten 4 person tables with some outside. The room window could be cleaner, but when it got dark, it didn't really matter for the movie.
Overall we had a good time.
- Kennedy (1/5): I wasted my money here and I want a refund or partial refund. This is unacceptable. - The only thing I liked was the movies. I spent 500$ to stay here and the room was absolutely filthy. Crumbs everywhere, nothing wiped off, and HAIR everywhere, AND COCKROACHES under the counter, in the bathroom , besides the bed, and majority of them were alive. I came here to work and I couldn’t focus on working in such a filthy place. It was absolutely awful. Not clean at all, hair, roaches, crumbs, all over the room. I am actually worried the roaches got in my things like I’m so disgusted by this place.
- Toni (2/5): -
- Ethan (6/5): Two tier system - We tried to buy attraction tix but they wouldn’t let us without sitting through a program to buy into the plan.
Also, and more significantly, we booked both units as one reservation (family reunion) units were quite distant from each other
- Doug (10/5): - We were able to watch the movie from thw comfort of our hotel room.
- Amy (8/5): Fun to watch movies from room. Beetles were ick - Pros: This is fun movie themed place to stay where you can watch the drive-in movies from your room window with a speaker in the room. Room is old but clean and large. Cons: Kept seeing beetles in the room (some dead, some alive.) Laundry facilities old but adequate with one quarter operated washer and one dryer. Breakfast was decent.
- Nathalie (7/5): - Pour un hôtel de passage, c'était bien. Très propre, bien aménagée, sans prétention. Le seul restaurant proche était vraiment bon et la formule ciné parc est originale
- Emily (2/5): Don't stay here! - This hotel is very run down! The door to my room didn't seal properly, so there were black beetles that crawled under the door and were crawling all over the carpet. The shower curtain had a larger hole in it. The towels should have been replaced years ago. Overall cleanliness of the room was not good. No shampoo or body wash in the bottles in the shower. Asked the front desk for individual bottles and they told me that housekeeping filled them already. Housekeeping didn't fill them. Also if you are traveling with a pet, the entire property is covered in goat heads that will get stuck in pets fur and paws.
- Carrol (8/5): - It was unique--being able to watch a drive-in movie from bed!
- Carlos (10/5): - I liked the drive-in movie, an experience my 16 years old never had, be was fascinated.
The staff, I guess must be the owners are very friendly.
After traveling all the west states, is the first hotel of this range with a good breakfast, eggs, different kind of breads, a choice of yogurts, fruits, something that unfortunately be do not see this days, congratulations
- Harvey (4/5): - Not quite but close to a dump.
- Perry (8/5): -
- Stacy (8/5): Worked for us - Check in was easy and the drive in is fun. The hotel is old and dinghy but mostly clean. We would stay here again for an affordable fun stay.
- Debbie (6/5): - The staff was very kind and the breakfast was pretty typical for a continental breakfast. The rooms weren’t necessarily dirty but in need of an upgrade. The drive in movie screens can be seen from the bed which is a unique feature and could potentially be a great place to stay, but if you are a clean freak or get nervous about cleanliness at hotels I wouldn’t recommend.
- Cheyenna (2/5): - The room is great at first. We went to the movies there and when we came back there where black bugs everywhere in the room. Make sure you get a room with the screen view.
- Oneyda (10/5): - Stunning views
- D Patton (10/5): Great unique property - Loved being able to watch a movie from our room. Well maintained breakfast area. Towels could use an 'upgrade'.
- Zem2566 (2/5): Not what we expected - Our room looked nothing like any of the pictures. It looked like something out of a horror movie; light was flickering in the bathroom and very dim, scum around shower head, tub wouldn’t drain, There was red blood or lipstick on the bed. There was stains in the carpet & flies everywhere. We unloaded just to load up and leave. The stairs are very old, rusted and unstable going to 2nd level
- Robyn (4/5): - Arrived late in the evening. Room was hot and stuffy. Took all night to cool off with a noisy A/C unit. Got in the shower only to discover that the soap dispenser was empty, so only able to rinse off. Refrigerator didn’t cool. Alarm clock time could not be adjusted. Tried to cancel second night stay at 9am in the morning, so they would have plenty of time to rent the room again and was told I could not cancel it and would be charged for both nights.
Room was clean, but cannot recommend the property.
- Kathy (2/5): - We left it was filthy carpet had stains
Bed had stains and filthy sheets
Floors we filthy
Tolit has pee on on base
- dawn (10/5): - It was unique.
- Angela (4/5): Disappointing and HOT - We were so excited for this unique stay. However our excitement quickly turmed to annoyance upon check in. It took the front desk clerk 20 minutes to show up and by then there were three of us waiting to check in. During check in the clerk demonstrated a foul mood with little to no explination about our room's location or details.
THEN, when we arrived to our room it had to be 80 degrees. It was very difficult to fall asleep in that heat and it took all night for the room to cool down.
The only high point was the wonderful breakfast they offered which we throughly enjoyed.
All in all a great concept but poorly executed. We will be trying the other drive in movie lodging across town the next time we drive through Colorado.
- Cindy (6/5): Not great - Room was clean and comfortable but properly needed renovation. Was very disappointed in the movie experience. Could only see the screen from half of our bed and it was so far away you couldn’t make out faces or read any words . Cars ran in and out through the whole movie and headlights hit you right in the eyes . If your going for a comfortable room it’s good , if your going for the movie experience- skip it . The food selection was very limited in the town also .
- Charles (8/5): - Nice, clean place. Unfortunately, we checked in too late for the movie.
- Ray (6/5): - The drive-in movies were definitely an amazing experience. You get free access to it if you’re a guest. However they need to work a lot in the condition of the rooms, the bathtub had a leaking problem and had to call maintenance twice and finally moved to another room. The staff was incredible, but they have a bug problem, small beatle bugs on sheets and the floor. I would rate my total experience as a 3/5. Breakfast and staff was good.
- Virginia (9/5): Sleep-in movie theater - Very cool concept about a sleep-in-movie theatre. The big screen is across from the hotel and the audio boxes are in the rooms. It is outdated and could be cheaper for such a rundown room.
- S3883MBjeffk (8/5): Unique movie concept and nice accommodations for a quick stay on a long road trip. - This is an older hotel but I found the rooms well-maintained, comfortable and our family felt safe. The movie concept is really cool. Unfortunately, we arrived late and only caught the last 15 minutes of the movie, but I can comment on the setup. The hotel is located next to a drive-in movie theater. Each room has a picture window, positioned to view one of the two outdoor movie screens. The screen is fairly distant but the movies are first-run/new-to-theater, not older movies. Each room has a speaker positioned to the rear of the viewing area. It's not surround-sound but is definitely loud enough to hear everything.
My only complaint is that we only able to hear one of the two screens/movies although we were able to view either screen. It would be nice to be able to choose which movie you want to hear.
Breakfast was standard "hot" breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage and waffles with pastry and cereal options as well.
- Kathy (7/5): Good -
- David (6/5): - I thought the breakfast was to simple. Not much to choose from.
- Bob (10/5): - Absolutely great. Loved the drive in movie
- Linda (8/5): - Roadside hotel-motel property. Pretty standard, a bit dated but clean. Would definitely come back though, the rooms facing the drive inn movie screen tapped into the sound with speakers. Great concept. Very cool. Slept well. I imagine this is a 3 star property in the Best Western brand.
- Timothy (10/5): - This was a very interesting property since it has a drive in theater adjacent to it. You have a huge windo and a speaker to enjoy the movie. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was not too hard or too soft it was just right. This is a great older motel with a classic feel.
- Michael (4/5): - Look the drive in movie part was cool if you were there on time. You could watch from your room too. Other than that...not so good. Bird droppings all over the stair and walkways, peeling wall paper, horribly rough towels and rags, someof them yellowed. Staff was not helpful. I rang a bell at desk and no one came, but I could see them sitting in the next room. Didn't budge.
Would not return, nor
Reccommend. Breakfast buffet was decent though.
