Guest Reviews
- Hoch (10/5): A very nice experience. - Our room was clean, large and comfortable. The staff was exceptional. We appreciated the complimentary breakfast. The location is perfect. It's minutes to the main shopping area with many quaint shops. Several stores and restaurants are within walking distance. All in all, it was a perfect little weekend getaway. There was nothing we didn't like.
- Nancee (7/5): Good for the most part - Nice place. Shower was supposed to be handicap accessible. It was a walk-in but no hand bars. The step in portion was unfinished.
- Edwin (4/5): Friendly staff but the facility was not up to my standards. - Check in process, the staff was helpful. Had to chase down the WI-FI instructions. The sink was plugged and wouldn't drain without holding up the drain plug. The toilet wouldn't flush properly.

- Gretchen (8/5): Reasonably priced in a great location in our favorite tourist town. - Great breakfast. They are trying hard to improve the interior and exterior of an aging building. No problem, except our towel bar fell off the wall.
- thomas (9/5): Best breakfast & coffee we’ve had at a motel in years! - Convenient location with lots of parking & exceptional breakfast offerings! Older rooms and floor plan design is dated but well maintained.
- David (8/5): A clean and convenient hotel worth returning on future visits. - Breakfast was convenient and had good choices Both ice machines were broken and only an apology was given......Seriously?????
- Eugene (8/5): -
- Schenia (10/5): -
- Amanda (10/5): - Loved that the pool was heated Didn't like the lady helping at breakfast hovering over everything you do
- Michael (7/5): - The veiw My room was dusty around the lights and TV my wife is a housekeeper and she said she will stay again if the rooms r done right
- Alyssa (10/5): -
- Larry (8/5): Very good - Didn't have breakfast met family for breakfast at a restaurant Couldn't use pool was too busy need to limit time in pool same people in pool for like 4 hours
- newland (7/5): It's a good hotel - The breakfast was very nice The pool was not working which didn't make me very happy.
- Frances (8/5): -
- James (8/5): -
- John (7/5): - Shower could use an upgrade
- Carol (9/5): - The room was very comfortable and clean. .
- Samantha (8/5): Great stay, small pillows - Very clean, pool was nice & breakfast was a bonus. The front desk worker was very friendly. I felt it was a little overpriced for the area but typical for what I could find that weekend. Would stay here again! My only complaint is the pillows are small, like actually half the size of standard ones.
- Patricia (5/5): it was ok, but won't stay there again - was told no king rooms on first floor only on second floor and there was no elevator to though rooms ended up with two queen room.
- Christine (9/5): Nice clean hotel - The staff was friendly, the room was clean and the location was great
- Linda (6/5): - Whoever did the bathroom renovation did a lousy job. Caulk all over an never painted. A step over to get into the shower that a wheelchair person would never be able to get over even though it’s a supposed handicapped room.
- James (8/5): - Breakfast was great. It seems like at all hotels its never hot, just warm.
- Jerilyn (7/5): - The pool and breakfast were nice. Rooms were a little old and musty.
- Scott (1/5): Very Disappointed, how can you recommend this to other customers. - Nothing special Cigarette butt container at door entrance made me sick to look at when I passed by. There was a mouse in our room evidence of a cracker he ate and mouse droppings on the night stand and bed. No housekeeping, what was that about $170 as night and I. Can't get my room cleaned.overall this stay was very disappointing.
- Victor (7/5): - Tub wouldn't drain.
- Harvey (8/5): The h - The location was great for where I needed to go. The snow cover made it difficult to drive, but as I left at 7:15AM they were already plowing. I also do not like the TV. I couldn't find my favorite local channels like PBS News.
- David (9/5): -
- Catherine (6/5): - Good location. Clean room Hot tub not functioning. Vending machines out of order or needed restocking
- Brett (5/5): Okay. Bummer about ammenities - It was clean. The refrigerator was making noise constantly which affects your overall quality of sleep which is important. Hot tub was out of order which is a huge part of why we booked in wintertime.
- Agrimson (10/5): - Distance to everything! Room needs to have the walls fixed.
- Powell (5/5): -
- Ryan (10/5): -
- Robert (9/5): -
- Alexander (1/5): -
- Whitman (4/5): - The location of the hotel was good. The walls are paper thin. The hot tube didn't work and the pool was not clear. We got double charged for our room.
- td397 (4/5): No longer good - We have stayed here for.several years but the place needs some TLC
I am a BW Diamond Rewards member, this hotel is subpar for the system IMO.
The rooms are dated, batrub would not drain, carpet old and worn, beds rough and the property inside and out looks rough.
- kaminwe (2/5): BED BUGS!!!!! - BED BUG ALERT!!!
I stayed here for a work trip Wednesday, Oct 29, 2025. I woke up the morning of Thursday Oct 30th to find TWO bed bugs (one in each queen bed). I reported to management immediately who was not apologetic whatsoever but rather defensive and took zero responsibility stating it wasn't her fault what the public brings into the hotel rooms. I asked for compensation for some items that could not be properly cleaned / treated and I was told no decisions would be made at this time and she needed to follow corporate policy. Well, here we are a week later and I have had ZERO updates on anything. I was given the manager's cell number but she won't return my calls to her cell or from the front desk itself. I called corporate myself (even though supposedly she was reaching out to them the day I reported the bugs) and they told me no report had been filed. AWFUL customer service and absolutely foul to have such a dirty hotel room be rented out and no real solutions offered. I even showed the manager the one bed bug I killed and kept in a baggie and she didn't want to see it. She also told me that 8 months ago, her son and daughter-in-law had a baby and they got bed bugs from the hospital and they had to pay out of their own pocket to treat their six bedroom home themselves because it's a "public place". That seemed to be her defense was the public place excuse but based on other reviews, cockroaches seem to be a large issue here, too, so clearly the bugs are out of control.

- alexisnA1994NC (2/5): A tough 20 minutes - My family and I traveled to Sturgeon Bay for the weekend and were looking forward to having a relaxing night in our hotel, but unfortunately we did not get that. We checked in quickly and went to our room. At first, the room looked decent. I have a habit of always checking the mattresses at hotels (for good reason) and thank god I did! There were stains all over the mattress. On the top, it was COVERED in what looked like pee stains that were bright yellow. On the sides of the mattress, there were dark stains that looked like possible blood stains. We were in shock! It was disgusting! We were not comfortable staying there at all. One of my family members went to use our restroom before we left and the toilet would not stop flushing. Again, another thing that should not have been an issue. The lady at the front desk said that they do not offer refunds. We’re happily staying at another hotel…in Green Bay!! Overall, I would not recommend staying here unless you like sleeping in other peoples pee :)

- jeffgB3006ZM (2/5): Overflowing Shower situation - We stayed at this hotel in room #131 from Sunday October 5th through Wednesday October 8th of 2025. We had issues with our stall type shower with no tub attached, but, a two inch lip on it. I took a shower on Monday 10/6 and noticed that this shower wasn't draining properly and had overflowed a bit after my shower. My husband had to wait a full 30 minutes for it to drain to take his shower. It wasn't draining properly with his shower, either and overflowed a bit. We let the person at desk know right away about this issue. While we were out that day, maintenance from hotel came in and seemingly cleaned cover of drain. On Tuesday, we had the same issues as previously mentioned and we reported it to the desk again. A plumber was supposed to come in between 12 and 5 that day but never came. The staff at that time offered us a different room, but, we refused because we only had one more night to stay. We were only discounted $25 off our whole stay because of above. I called hotel to see if they could do anything else. They referred me to call Best Western at 1-800-789-7234 and I talked to Tanner who offered to give us 5,000 points which equates to about $25. We asked for 10,000 points which we felt would be a better option and he refused. We are disappointed with this Hotel Chain and after this, won't patronize this chain again. Very sad that we paid roughly $500 for a Hotel stay and the shower wasn't working properly. To us, hygiene is important. Having a daily shower that didn't overflow and inconvenience our vacation plans was EXTREMELY disappointing 😑. This is not okay on ANY level. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. We stayed there last year with no issues.
- Roberta (8/5): - Friendly and efficient associate at check-in!! Great location and new!
- David (8/5): Family fun - Pool and hot tub were fun. Breakfast was very nice. The staff was great! The shower was ok, but it didn't have a tray for soap and shampoo.
- Passenger13731621432 (10/5): Great place to stay - Slightly dated, but not a bad thing at all! Clean and spacious with wonderful friendly staff. The water pressure in the shower was amazing! And the free breakfast was awesome 🤩
- Gary (1/5): Very bad experience! - Front desk gal was very nice! The hotel smells bad and the manager is very hostile and rude!
- Krishnakumar (5/5): - It was well maintained outside and the common area Bead sheets were not clean
- DeByl (8/5): -
- Melissa (8/5): -
- Robert (8/5): - The toilet seat was broken and i needed to do a temp repair with duct tape. other than that this is a nice hotel
- Florentino (8/5): - Older property but well maintained. Good value for location
- Dawn (8/5): - Location and reasonable priced. That was going factor. We enjoyed our stay. Nothing bad at all.
- Ron (8/5): - Older hotel, rooms ok, climate ok, parking ok
- KRISHNAMOORTHY (10/5): - Old bath fittings. But room and food are really good.
- John (6/5): - Older dark decor, worn carpet typical 90s style. The check in ladies were very nice. I would give a rating of 5 certainty not 8.3 according to Expedia
- Mariah (10/5): - Nice place & friendly staff. Was very convenient when visiting the Naval base.
- Roberto (6/5): - to early to take out de breakfast
- Sherri (10/5): pleasant stay - Room size, layout, and furnishings
Helpful staff
AComfu bed and good shower charge for early checkin
location
- Lillian (8/5): -
- Destanie (8/5): So much better than super 8 where we usually stayed. - Location was great! Shower was great! Breakfast area was amazing. Pool and hot tub area was nice. Will absolutely stay again. We opened our windows for fresh air and couldn’t close the window. So it was stuck open all night. The morning desk lady was rude and ignored us. Otherwise everything was great.
- Henry (10/5): - The room was one of the cleanest I've stayed in in a while. Also the quietest. We heard morning in the hall now outside traffic. Great night sleep!
- Timothy (10/5): - Old but well maintained
- April A (10/5): - Clean and quiet room. Front desk staff friendly and helpful.
- Billie (9/5): Girls Trip - * Clean rooms
* Comfortable beds
* Good Location
* Friendly staff * T.V. guide was hard to navigate
* Needs new window treatments
- Corey (10/5): -
- Sophia (8/5): - Breakfast was good. Coffee available all the time. Room seemed to feel humid.
Would stay here again.
- Eric (8/5): - Staff was great, room was clean and breakfast was good!
I just didn’t like that they had air fresheners everywhere, even in the room.
- Joseph (10/5): - Everything was great
- Eric (10/5): - Older hotel with large rooms and in good condition.
- Juan (9/5): -
- Kristin (6/5): - The hotel was exactly what I expected. The breakfast was pretty standard except the sausage was cold- frozen in the middle.
- Jeff (4/5): - Place is aging. Bathroom door jamb is rusted through, carpets are old, heat/ac unit functions didnt work paper signs on windows to not open them, killed a cockroach. Will not return.
- Dennis (10/5): - Room not made up during day laundry cart left in hallway no tissue in holder.
- Kathy (8/5): Door County - Besides no hot water , the stay was adequate . Good location to see all of Door County. Enjoyed the Fall Harvest Fest . Need to update your rooms . Dim, refrigerator frost all our food ! And you need new towels . Very rough.
- 981michellee (2/5): Can't make this up! An 11 month reservation unavailable upon arrival. - Stay away from Sturgeon Bay WI location as reservations are NOT guaranteed. October 2024 booked two nights 9/6-7/2025. They reached out on 9/6/2025 4:38 pm to say sorry we don't have your second night's room available, you can move to another hotel Sunday for both nights or one night. We traveled from Florida for the always sells out, Door County Century (100 miles) Ride. BTW, will our room be discounted for such inconvenience, no mam. Not a favorable look for Destination Door County .....
- Shane (8/5): - It needs some modernizations, but all in all it was a very nice stay.
- Jenna (10/5): -
- Ron (10/5): - Love this place
- Vincent (4/5): - Bathtub was dripping all night and was noisy. Could not take a shower due to about 2-3 inches of standing water in the tub.
- John (10/5): - Plenty of parking Quit
- Oleg (10/5): - Clean, quite facility, friendly and helpful host.
- Heather (6/5): Would not stay here again - We booked a room with an in-suite tub, but when we checked in, we were told they didn’t allow pets in that room, so we got moved to another room. When I asked about the price difference, I was told we had to take that up with Expedia.
There was a dead cockroach in the bathroom, and some trash on the floor. The AC did not keep the room cool, even though we had it at 64.
We paid $250/night for this room, after the additional $20/night pet fee - very disappointing.
- Cindy (6/5): - A phone call was more important than checking us in as we stood there waiting for the clerk to finish a conversation. Yes, it was a business matter, but still we waited too long to be helped. Then the refrigerator didn't work in the room and the shower barely trickled lukewarm water. For the exhorbitant price, we expected more. Positives: comfortable beds, decent breakfast, convenient parking
- JON (10/5): - Staff was very nice and helpful with suggestions on places for things to do.
- flexman (9/5): - Clean comfortable rooms, terrific staff. Great breakfast!
- Judith (8/5): Easy on the bleach - The smell of bleach on towels, linen was overwhelming! I realize the need to disinfect, but yikes!
- Jon (10/5): - nice place
- 385lesleeh (6/5): Minimal frills but not a cheap price motel. Not worth the money. - Not the quality of most Best Westerns. Very average motel. Nothing special about it. Whirlpool didn’t work - cold and no sign that said not working. Ice machine broken. Limited breakfast offerings. Bed was comfortable though and the room was clean.
- Hauge (2/5): -
- Walker (7/5): Bad renovation - The location was perfect. It was in a central location of everything! Loved that there was breakfast every morning. It was dated and need to be updated without being able to tell. It was clean but you could hear everything! Also you could see through the door! Thank goodness I was there with my fiance or I would have been scared I could legitimately see people walk by around the door frame.
- Karen (8/5): -
- Milana (10/5): - Room was very spacious. We enjoyed our stay.
- ScottSall (8/5): Nice To Visit Again - We stayed at the BW Maritime Inn on a Labor Day weekend trip. We enjoy the end of summer festivities in Door County & this is among several motels we stay at.
I was somewhat concerned with some of the recent reviews, but we have had good experiences here before & this trip was another good experience for us. The room was nice, it was comfortable & relatively quiet. The staff was friendly & helpful, although we were out sight-seeing & didn't interact with them very much.
Our room was clean & well supplied, although the carpet could stand some deep cleaning. While they apparently were vacuum-cleaned we noticed the soles of our feet getting dirty from the carpeting.
The self-serve breakfast was good - those Golden Malted waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, cereals, fruit, juices & breads.
Unfortunate that others have had a less than pleasant experience, but we enjoyed it & expect to stay here again.
- Lawrence (8/5): - Friendly staff
- Lawrence (8/5): - My suggestion to Best Western is to change your toilets to "High Boy." Older people find it much easier to use a toilet that is easier to sit down on when it is higher. The toilet we had was very difficult to sit on because it was much lower than the toilet we have in our home.
