sanpedroprofessor (10/5): And Unreserved Delight! - We drove north from Florida with reservations at the Walterboro Comfort Inn. When we arrived, we were informed that the motel had no hot water and this situation had existed for several days before without notifying its reserved customers! So we drove to the nearby Best Western and received a warm welcome! Talk about falling into good luck. Our room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, the morning breakfast was filling, and best of all, the rate at Best Western was substantially less than what the Comfort Inn would have charged us!

One North (7/5): - The newly remodeled suite room was very nice. Outdoor stairs and halls were shabby and dirty. It seems that THEY ARE still in the process of remodeling. Most important. THERE IS NO ELEVATOR. IF YOU GET A SECOND FLOOR ROOM, YOU MUST DRAG YOUR LUGGAGE UP STAIRS.

deb21660 (8/5): Clean, comfortable and pretty affordable - I had a little difficulty finding the hotel, which was most likely just me. I went towards where the other hotels were but, Best Western was at the other end of the street. The front desk clerk was very friendly and efficient. The room was clean but, I didn't care for the strange lighting system they had. Not regular lamps that you typically find in a hotel and they weren't very bright. Breakfast was lackluster. Not many choices. There was what I believe was a waffle station, some oatmeal packet and fruit. I didn't see any muffins, yogurt or eggs. After settling into the room for the evening, the front desk clerk called the room to make sure everything was good and I wasn't in need of anything. A very nice, personal touch. I'm kind of on the fence about the price. Total was $132 for a 2 queen room. It was clean and comfortable but very basic.

There were gas stations and restaurants within walking area, which made it a perfect place to stay while on a road trip. Breakfast was from 6 - 9 a.m. We arrived a few minutes after 6:00. There was another couple waiting at the door. They said that they knocked, but the staff kept the doors locked because the kitchen help was late arriving that day. The doors opened at 6:08 a.m. We did not have a coffee pot in our room and neither did the other couple. The breakfast was a typical Best Western breakfast. The hotel was a great place for a stopover on route to Florida.

Said the price was too low for the suite & forced us to stay in a standard room even though the suites were available. Said Booking.com made an error when booking it for me. My wife is just recovering from back surgery & I booked it for the extra room.

Steven (4/5): It’s alright just bring your own blankets and pillows and shower with your socks on - A ton of long hairs all over the bathroom. Am bald so I know they weren’t mine. I think the owners live there a few rooms had the doors wide open with strong odors coming from those rooms. And a very concerning and safety hazard- a large window pane was shattered. If a kid touched it they would have bad cuts. Chief danger’s and made us think I hope our window doesn’t get smashed in. Possible break in or dispute but either way insane they left it like that all jagged glass All the random hairs in the bathroom

DAVID (2/5): Uncomfortable. - Typical motel breakfast. Staff was helpful. For the price we expected a better experience. Unkept grounds. Bedding was wrinkled,as if slept upon. Sheets and covering stuffed under mattress in sporadic manner. Failed effort at hospital corners. The amenities in bathroom were small, and difficulty in squeeeezing out the product. Everything. Close down and total renovation.
elizabeth (1/5): The smell in the room was so bad - Breakfast The room smelled so bad that we could not sleep or stay in the room. The heater wouldn’t work in the room so they had to come completely changed the system out the gentleman working on the AC unit even said that room was awful with the smell.
Pat (3/5): - Location, pet friendly Cockroaches, dirty sandy floors, requested sheets to be changed and floors to be swept and mopped...never happened. I had to go get sheets from front desk...change sheets...then return them.
Jill (3/5): The staff was very helpful. - Breakfast good and location very good The room smelled like fish and the bed was very soft. I read that if a hotel room smelled like fish it indicated there might be mold. There was a dehumidifier in the room. The next day I had diarrhea and a stomach ache.

Cheryl (3/5): Loud & smelly! - It was close to restaurant. Rm. #141 smelled like urine. Several people congregated outside my room to smoke and talk loudly. The stairway had much traffic throughout the night. In the morning, the Housekeeping Staff were very loud, speaking on their phones and with each other. Overall, it was a loud, smelly stay. I won’t return.

Tiffany (1/5): Way overpriced for a rundown motel - The only good thing was they had a room available last minute Way overpriced for what it is, definitely a low quality motel that they did a few minor upgrades and jacked up the prices. My room was not completed from renovations and still rented to me. I arrived in very late after midnight and didn’t see some of the issues until I woke up the next morning. No shower head was installed, no smoke detectors installed, ironing board missing cover and tied up with curly ribbon…

USMCRETIRED94 (10/5): Walterboro BW is Outstanding - Check in was super quick, reservation was waiting for us. We were given 2 bottles of water and welcomed as BW rewards members. About 20 minutes later the front desk called and checked if everything was to our liking. The room was perfect, the hotel was very fresh and comfortable. They have a McDonalds located within 100 yards. Our evening was quiet and restful. The morning breakfast was free and both hot and delicious. We highly recommend this BW and will be staying there again on our way back to VIRGINIA. Thank you for a wonderful stay at your fine hotel.

BDF527 (4/5): Avoid this place! - What attracted us was the access to I-95. We drive from Pittsburgh to Tampa 3X a year and all we look for is a restful night at a good price, not the frills. 1. The smell when we first entered the room. 2. The floor was folthy. 3. Spots/stains on the sheets. 4. Loud mechanical noise all night long. VERY disappointing-we won't ever return. This is a comment on this location, not Best Western in general. On our return we like to stay at the BW in Huntersville, NC

Between the air conditioner unit and the dehumidifier, there was more than white noise all night and I didn’t get much sleep. In addition, the shades did not keep the outside lights from shining in so to me it wasn’t very dark. The floor was dirty as I spilled water and used a towel to mop it up. There was a dead fly on the floor and I killed two cockroaches in the bathroom the next morning. I reported this at checkout but the gentleman didn’t show concern. The women at the free breakfast area was friendly and helpful.

pksulivan (6/5): Uncomfortable night. - Motel is a convenient stop off the interstate and the rooms where clean. I did have a complaint as to the level of dampness in the room from the air-conditioning unit. The unit was not dehumidifying the room and caused the room to feel damp. Over time this is going to cause mold. I had actually booked this same hotel for my return trip but because of the damp issue I booked another BW with good reviews. This other BW had dehumidifiers in the rooms and they made a world of difference in the room comfort. I highly suggest this hotel to invest in dehumidifiers for the rooms. The prevention of mold issues will save them money in the long run. I would probably not recommend staying here until they do something about the humidity dampness in the rooms. Other than this issue the motel was nice.

drcreten (10/5): Awesome staff, room, breakfast and price. - On a trip home from Florida I chanced upon this gem. It's one of the nicest places I have stayed at in a while. Located just off the interstate, yet you couldn't hear the traffic. It's also behind a convenience store and restaurant. The room was very clean and updated with lighted mirrors, fridge, etc. The bed was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was awesome with the breakfast attendant right there if you needed something and the manager was checking on things. Staff was very friendly at both check-in and out. All at a decent price! I will stay here again if the opportunity presents itself.
Harold (10/5): Comfortable and Clean Room - This stay was an overnight of a long drive from Miami to DC for me. The hotel was easy to spot when I got off the highway, which was nice in the dark after 11 hours on the road. I got in quickly and parking was easy - right in front of the room. Desk staff person was very nice. The room was very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I got a good night's sleep. Breakfast was also very good, and offered a variety of choices.

Wendy (3/5): Highly overrated hotel in bad shape and lacking proper safety equipment. - Basically nothing Upon entering our room #151 there was a bad smell in the room. Not sure what the smell was but it stunk! I sprayed my own air freshener to help change the odor. The smoke alarm was completely disconnected from the wall and laying on the bathroom counter. BIG SAFETY ISSUE! Where the hair dryer was on the wall it was gone and just the attachment was left behind. Behind the entrance door was a hole from the doorknob being slammed into it. If I hadn’t already paid we would have left!!

kim (10/5): Hidden gem in Walterboro! - What an amazing hotel! Newly renovated and sparkling clean! Beds were amazing and the breakfast buffet was great and satisfying! Good parking for me with my truck and camper and very well lit. Felt very safe and secure. Pet friendly was a big factor for me and this place was very accommodating with no big fees! Will absolutely stay here again!
