- TammyK2025 (2/5): Horrible pet friendly room - We had been traveling across Canada for 4 weeks and I can easily say this is the worst hotel we have encountered. We realize we had a pet friendly room but the room smelled completely foul from the moment we stepped inside. It was not a urine smell but rather I think from the old curtains and bed skirt. We had to store our luggage in the bathroom so the smell wouldn’t permeate into them. When I told the clerk the next morning she didn’t seem to care about our sleepless night. So disappointing after spending $298!!!!! I emailed upon checkout and they replied with an empathetic apology but we will never return

- sw211 (10/5): Setting is a wonderful surprise! - This is a slightly more expensive choice, and we were not sure if it would be worth it. It was because the surrounding area was so pretty we forgot that we had been on a long road trip, and felt more like we were at our vacation destination! We were tired, and were so happy to find there was a perfectly great restaurant with a great view and terrific staff. We would stay there again!

- Jessica (10/5): - I absolutely love the stay at this hotel… The view from my room was absolutely beautiful when I showed up. Expedia failed to put a note about pet friendly however they accommodated me immediately and gave me one of their rooms that wasn’t usually pet friendly. The amenities were close by the restaurant was delicious. They give you a breakfast voucher for a full dine breakfast. I had their French onion soup tacos, and a Long Island iced tea, which was delicious washroom was immaculately clean the room was super comfortable. The bed was super comfortable. I would definitely recommend this to everybody.

Unlike other 'Pet Friendly' hotels, who imply low status upon dog owners while gleefully demanding damage deposits and extra charges for dogs, Best Western Plus truly was - from the front desk clerk who assured us dogs were welcome on the outdoor patio to the cut walking paths in the back. Thank-you. We will be back.

It had a great view of the mountain and nice grounds to enjoy (fountain, muskoka chairs, etc.). The pool and gym were in good order, and extra towels were provided. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was top notch. We would definitely stay here again. Literally the single thing that can be improved are the bathroom fans. They are very under powered. A 10 minute hot shower kept the room humid for hours with the fan on the entire time. Everything else really was great.

- Gordon (10/5): Great place to stay - Would rate all areas of hotel excellent. Friendly staff on check-in, cleaning staff in hallway and those in the restaurant. Everyone seemed happy to be working. Good choice on menu for breakfast which was the only meal we ate there. Did not use the pool or excersire areas but they appeared to be well equipped. Only problem was trying to find a correct setting for the A/C unit. This was probably due in part to the days we were there being very hot and our room faced west getting the afternoon sun.

- Beverly (10/5): A great Best Western experience! - BEST Best Western (and we have stayed in a lot because they are pet friendly) we have ever stayed in. Lovely grounds and outside deck that were well maintained, great rooms that opened to the outside also, which made it so easy to unload and take our dog in and out, nice sized room which was very clean, beautiful regional artwork both in the room and throughout the hotel, and a great complimentary breakfast in the hotel restaurant in the morning. Staff was pleasant and helpful. A great experience overall!

The options for breakfast surpass any morning fare given by most hotels. The staff is friendly. The pool facilities are well maintained. There is ample parking. We visited Kakabeka Falls, Fort William, and Chippewa Beach. There were two weddings, one taking place on the grounds with the mountains looking down. Do not stay in town. Stay at the Nor’wester!

- Shar (8/5): All in all, 5 stars! - The staff at the front desk were exceptionally courteous and helpful. The room was very clean and updated. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and great that it was included with the room rate. This was my first time using booking.com and unfortunately, I didn't realize that if I had booked directly with the hotel, they offer a medical rate of approximately $100 discount. I have emailed booking.com to see if a medical rate is available for future bookings. I was required to stay overnight because of a long drive to the hospital for a specialist visit.

I would suggest planning any way possible to avoid thunder bay if you are a traveler but if you absolutely must stay in junkie Thunder bay then this place id a safe place to stay with no one hanging around drinking outside. I strongly dislike staying in thunder bay and at many other hotels like Valhalla i have had confrontations with locals over nothing. This place is like a haven outside of the town a little bit. It is expensive but it is worth it if you dont want to get in a fight outside or your stuff stolen. Strongly recommended.

- Lynn (4/5): - The walls of this hotel are extremely thin. You can hear everyone in the hallway and in the next rooms. The hvac unit is also extremely loud so if you can sleep with that kind of white noise it does drown out the other noises. I could not. Bfast is included but it’s in the restaurant and not self serve. If you’re in a hurry forget it. I waited over 5 minutes just to be seated - no one came. So I went in search of a coffee elsewhere in the hotel - found a coffee unit in front of registration but no cups. When I asked for one I was told you have to go to the restaurant for coffee - this coffee station is only available until 7 am.
