Guest Reviews
- Felicia (7/5): good night rest - the bed the parking
- Joyce (8/5): Overall it was very accommodating! - I was there for graduation, cheapest room in town, closest to the University, thanks for a great stay! The curtains were worn and didn’t function properly.
- fcfo (8/5): Boa - Atendimento amigável, fácil acesso e próximo da universidade. Ruído do sistema de HVAC
- Callahan21 (1/5): Disgusting stay - The lady at the guest was really kind The rooms were filthy. The rugs were torn up and there was mold all over the bathrooms. There was also a mysterious white liquid on the side of one of the beds. The beds themselves had very disgusting stains on them. The ac also didn't work.
- Lawrence (5/5): -
- Conary (10/5): Pleasant and very convenient for what we needed to stay over night for. - The breakfast was delicious. The coffee was unusually good. Staff worked with us on check out by giving us a couple of extra hours. What a blessing that was. Unfortunately, the toilet had some issues but was easily dealt with and the front desk was informed that morning. My wife has disability walking and had asked for first floor room upon reservation but it didn't work out and we were on 2nd floor w no elevator so she struggled up and down the steps. Everyone was apologetic.
- Jean-Marie (7/5): - Good It's ok.
- Hyman (10/5): - Great customer service Refrigerater and ironing board not working

- Hancock (8/5): - Clean Bathroom toilet rim didn’t fit. Need thicker comforters
- Brian (4/5): Inexpensive and good location but needs renovation - Good location. Rooms aren’t comfortable. The one I stayed in smelled somewhat like cigarettes, the bed wasn’t comfortable and the door to the bathroom needed serious attention.
- ferguson (10/5): - Employees Location
- John (9/5): - The quietness of the area where it's located and the staff were very respectful and helpful. I didn't dislike anything.
- Brown (3/5): Disappointing, and overpriced for the condition of the building and the room. - Poor selection and apple juice in machine just dispensed water. Room smelled musky, sheets stained, curtains stained , carpet stained, alarm clock so nasty I was afraid to touch. Security latch on door broken, concrete steps leading to room crumbling. Handrail on steps loose because of crumbling concrete. Worst hotel room I've ever had in my 66 years.
- Donald (10/5): -
- Hancock (7/5): The place was nice. I really had no complaints - It’s close to all restaurants ya and shopping places The basic cable
- Carol (1/5): Didn't get to stay. - Since the hotel went under new management. They did not honor my reservation. Booking.com refuses to give me a refund. Had to go to another hotel. This is my last email to booking.com. I have filed a small claims report.
This email states that Rodeway had no concerns about our reservation status. The second email you sent me says that you could not get a reply from Rodeway. Yes, I should have called the evening when we arrived and were turned away. But my group was attending a conference and we were on a tight deadline and that was important. I am attaching the confirmation from the hotel we had to transfer to. There was nothing available in Lynchburg because there were 5000 attendees at the conference.
You are either misrepresenting the truth or Roadway. When we arrived the gentlemen told us the hotel had transferred ownership and our reservation was not transferred and they had no vacancies. I was so upset at the time, I didn’t get the gentlemen’s name. Instead, I returned to the van and we are all calling around to find a place to return for the night after the Friday night meeting. I am entitled to a refund. If I stayed, as you are claiming, you need to provide me with a copy of the invoice directly from Roadway, dated for that night, and a copy of the documents I would have been required to initial with the vehicle’s license number. (There are none). Per seeking counsel, you need to provide the proof.
I am also placing this same response on your 2nd email, contradicting this one.
- Ella (7/5): -
- Marlene (1/5): Couldn't get any worse. - It was terrible, because I didn't even get to stay there after booking early 9 months ago. The man at the desk told me I had the wrong hotel. It was the address of the hotel I had booked 9 months ago. So I called the number of the hotel I booked with, and his phone immediately rang. It was only then that he changed his story and told me that bookings had been cleared out when the hotel was bought out. I had nowhere to stay, because all hotels in the area were booked due to the event that I was in town to attend. When buying out a facility, the new company should care about previous bookings. Dishonesty and lack of compassion.
- Roy (10/5): -
- hall (2/5): dissatisfied satisfied customer - The location was good The room wasn't clean
- Hancock (6/5): It was nice and I would come bak fora few days - Location and cozy No blankets
- Ronaldo Anderson (8/5): -
- Michele (10/5): - Everyone nice and friendly Nothing
- Christy (1/5): They should not be in business - The cancelled our booking last min and didn’t even tell us . They cancelled our booking last min and didn’t even tell us
- hall (6/5): A peaceful getaway - For the most part peaceful and the staff was friendly and helpful Had some neighbors that didn't quite get along with one another loud at times
- Simon (3/5): - The room was clean. The facility was run down and in need of repairs. The room lock was missing screws, missing light in the bathroom, and the phone would ring once every few minutes (had to unplug it). The knobs for the water in the shower did not work well they were stripped and hard to use.
- Nicole (7/5): -
- Pamela (1/5): Unhappy & unacceptable. - Nothing I did not like it when I showed up for my night’s stay they did not have my reservation. I had to pay $261.54 more to stay at another hotel which was a burden on me. Booking.com only settled for a $40.08 refund which was totally unacceptable. I had to suffer, nit booking.com. Not sure if I will be booking anymore with booking.com after this mishap. Totally unhappy & dissatisfied after all the people I have referred to booking.com.
- Beverly (2/5): - I got there and did not have a reservation. The Motel had changed hands and did not notify me. I was not the only one. Many people were scammed.
- Kelly (1/5): New hotel ownership which lead to multiple people being left without a room. - When I showed up to check in they had no reservation on file. The staff at the desk said that when the hotel was bought there was no way to track any bookings that had been previously made. I reserved two rooms a year ago and showed up expecting a room to only find out that every room was booked. I received emails from booking.com that everything was booked and had to scramble last minute to find another hotel. I ran into multiple people that experienced the same issue that night. No communication about my room reservations being dropped.
- Christopher (1/5): - They had lost my reservation made in February, we travelled in September, and when we found an alternative it cost us an extra £200. Counter staff not particularly helpful.
- kevin (2/5): -
- tim (10/5): - Check in and out was fast and easy. The room was clean and comfortable.
- I4287QEabigailg (2/5): Dirty room in desperate need of housekeeping and deep cleaning - We booked a non-smoking room. Upon entering the room, a stale smoke odor immediately assaulted our nostrils.
Our room had no towels or soap. The bedside table was extremely sticky and the phone did not work. I asked for another room, citing these complaints. We were given another room which did not smell like smoke, but it did have an unpleasant odor. The new room did have towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, but still no hand soap? My last complaint was that I could not get the hot water to turn on because the knob fell off as I was trying to turn it on. Oh, also the toilet ran all night. Overall both rooms we were in need of repair and better cleaning. The pool water was green and full of leaves. I am sure it was not in usable condition this summer. The hotel breakfast was decent, all things considered. It was noisy, as it is right next to a busy road. But I would not never stay at this motel again.
- Jesse (6/5): - It was ok
- Melissa (1/5): -
- Scott (4/5): - The bathroom trim was gross, tv did not work. Poor astetics
- Laura (6/5): - Old and dated. All faucets leaked consistently!
The water was hot and pressure great. Once the renovate some and close the frog pond of a pool it will be a great motel.
- Sheryl (4/5): - There was no air-conditioning in the room. The air conditioner blew out warm air and my room was stuffy, humid, and hot. 3 different times during my 4 night stay I went to the front desk to ask if I could move to a room with working air conditioner. The people working the front desk (who were VERY POLITE AND SWEET) said the only one that can make those decisions is some guy (I presume owner or manager) who was never there. I never got a call back from him anytime I was there. I considered changing hotels and just losing my money but with the college events going on that weekend, they were all full. I stuck it out but will not stay there again or recommend it to anyone.
- Davina (6/5): - Bathtub had hair folicals from previous use. The carpet had hair on many areas of the floor. There was no soap. No bathroom floor towel. Pool had leaves and debris and unable to be accessed. Should have indicated that outside pool was closed, and covered. Outside ground and steps leading to 2nd floor rooms were dirty and had urine smell. I did appreciate the good breakfast that was available in the morning. Representatives were friendly, although check-in took longer than normal waiting for available room.
- Michael (6/5): - My main complaint was only a single towel and no washcloth
- Kim (4/5): - This hotel was recently bought out, and they told us that they had not finished all their renovations yet, so we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Trying to be positive here, so the towels were very nice and clean and soft, the sheets were clean and the mattress was comfortable. All the things they could easily upgrade they did. The physical permanent parts of the room, however, were not good. The mirror had black streaks all over it, the sink didn't turn off and always was trickling water, the carpet was dingy and stained, the curtains were very old and dirty or burned or something. We aren't clean freaks, but there were certain things we just didn't want to touch. Almost all hotels were booked for the dates we needed, and I wasn't paying over $800 for two nights somewhere else. We were thankful for the room, but we will not stay here again if we can find another place instead. Maybe things will improve after they have time to make renovations.
- Araceli (4/5): - You get what you pay for , the room had a roach and this one man kept starring at me when I parked , unloaded and went to my room he gave me the creeps
- Elizabeth (2/5): - Room was terribly dirty. Food on the floor from previous guests. Hair on the counters, hair in the shower. End table was so sticky that the phone was stuck to the tabletop. Walls and surfaces were filthy. Breakfast area very dirty and unsanitary.
No towels in the room. Had to go ask for some and took a while to get them.
Bed was comfortable…new management so they seem to be trying to make improvements.
Also very noisy, right on a busy road with sirens all night long.
- Ted (8/5): - Staff friendly and responsive to requests
- Lindsay (2/5): Would not stay again - Our room had ashes from someone recently smoking, had not been vacuumed or wiped down. Ironing board and hot water handle broken. Staff was very pleasant though.
- Christy (4/5): - Staff said there are plans to gut the place, and I would wait until that happens before returning. The sheets and towels were clean but the room stank like smoke and mold. Stained curtains, lampshades, wallpaper, mold on shower ceiling. Otherwise the location is fine for LU access.
- Kathryn (2/5): Cockroach Friendly - To say it was disgusting is an understatement!!!
It generally looked like it had never be cleaned, none of the appliances worked, and we were roommates with a huge cockroach.
- Glenn (2/5): - I understand that the property was just purchased by a new owner, but the conditions were unacceptable. The only reason we didn’t leave was because all hotels in the area were at full capacity for a Liberty Univ. event.
- Brian (2/5): Smelled like smoke won’t stay here again - Room smelled of smoke it was bad.
- michael (2/5): - Stayed at this place before and at least the breakfast was good. Now that’s terrible too.
- Reep (5/5): -
- Steven (2/5): - I cancelled my reservation 3 weeks ago and I am still waiting for my money back I was never there
- Mark (6/5): Stop Being Cheap - Pool needs cleaning and owners need to
make more upgrades and scrub out the bathtubs!!!
- Clifford J (2/5): Very Unsettling - Our room was given to another guest who attempted to enter the room while we were in it. It was rather startling. The man showed that his key had our room number. How does this happen? Whatever the reason, I expected a phone call from the desk apologizing for the error, but nothing. The incident certainly disrupted my ability to get any rest. Additionally, the toilet seat was broken and a few of the lamps didn't work. I suspect light bulbs were burnt out.
- Merritts (1/5): - Nothing It was nasty. Black mold in the bathroom and on the ceiling. Bugs crawling on the floor. Dirty sheets. No wash clothes. And in a bad area
- Gregory (10/5): - The lady who checked me in was very nice and and good looking!
- Marcell (10/5): - Simple but clean.and there are no Roaches.Extended stay near liberty university has Roaches,Timberlake motel has Roaches and Wood-springs suite Horrible.Roadway Inn has been the best best yet
- Lane (6/5): - Booked a non smoking room but it still had the smell of smoke in the room. The room key had to be re-keyed either their id machine multiple times as it would not read on the card reader at the door after 2 or 3 uses.
- Glenda (2/5): - Toilet couldn’t flush hair in bathroom properly is very dirty
- Verified traveler (2/5): If you must sleep - Our first room, the toilet wouldn’t flush so he moved us to another room. The bathroom needed serious cleaning done. One bed was firm, other really soft. Stains on the sheets of the one bed. Ice machine didn’t work. Stairways going up to the 2nd level were filthy with trash and dead bugs. If I wasn’t so tired from driving all day,I would’ve went elsewhere.
Close to restaurants and shops
- George (10/5): - Good place
- Cheryl (2/5): - 1st room: phone didn't work, no tv remote then when given a remote it wouldn't work. 2nd room: was moved to this room and the dresser drawer was broken and it smelled like cigarettes. 3rd room: Smelled like cigarettes, bath mat had footprints on it,another broken dresser drawer. I had no choice except to take this one because it was the last one they had and I couldn't get another reservation on such short notice. I requested a partial refund but they refused.
- Carlos (2/5): Not the best experience - The breakfast consisted of water down coffee, cold egg and sausage patties, white bread, Frosted Flakes.
Air conditioning blew straight onto the bed, condensation soaked the carpet. There was drinking and marijuana smoking outside the room filling my room with the odor.
Key cards went blank nightly. Required a note to be left with counter for the room to be cleaned - wasn't honored. Bed comfort was fine.
- Maria (2/5): - the management team unprofessional
- Linda (2/5): - I and very very disappointed with Expedia as I chose a property through Trivago and Unfortunately I made an error in the date of my stay and could not get through to reverse it as hard as I tried and could not reach Expedia in person and the website would go to 'page not found' when I tried to use the website. The property owner said I had to get through to Expedia to tell them my error which I told him I tried many times and he said if I got through to Expedia he would refund my money hence I am without my money because I could not reach Expedia to cancel my reservations. Not a happy customer
- Elusai (2/5): - A very dirty place and they don't provide towels for the bathroom and you can't rest comfortably because the sheets are covered in hair and fleas.
- Rob (6/5): - Strong smoke smell in room, 301, shower weak. Otherwise reasonably clean and quiet. Friendly staff and good location. Good for a low cost place to sleep.
- christina (4/5): - The only thing that is positive about this hotel is its location. Everything is old and not maintained. The pool was not usable, nor was the gym. The shower the handles were coming off the wall. The property says it’s under new management and I wish them all the best. This hotel is in an excellent location and should be brought up to minimal standards to serve the liberty University students and families.
- Rene (10/5): - The property manager and his staff was one of the best i have met, they were very patient and courteous. Thank you for making us feel welcomed.
- Linda (4/5): - The property has apparently been recently purchased so they have started they will be doing a complete overhaul. Terrible purchase price for my stay
- Christy (2/5): - This place is a dump! Avoid unless it’s the only place available. Check in was smooth and the beds and pillows were comfortable and there were no bugs but that’s about it for positives. The room smelled like smoke, like 30 years worth, nasty! I sprayed the room and then when I woke up the next morning the smell was overpowering. The bathroom cieling had mold all over, the bathroom door looked like someone had a dog that scratched it and it had a hole punched into it. The bathtub leaked out water so no ability to take a bath. All the furniture is super worn out, like from the 90’s. The breakfast was a complete joke. There were little egg patties and sausage gravy, no biscuits anywhere and only 4 measly pieces of toast available. The coffee was basically water. The only thing good about breakfast was the waffles and the juice. We were looking forward to having a pool but it was green and had some sort of froth in it so we avoided it. This place needs a complete overhaul! I would never stay again, only stay if you’re desperate or don’t mind old smelling motor lodges.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Drive 40 miles away before you think to stay here - Usually would add photos etc yet wife was already freaking out. Libertys back to school so all locations booked, Air B&B not a good selection. Hair in the bed, ac no way to point so blew on top of both beds, could stick my hand under the front door gap at bottom, curtains were just that. People outside could see in and us out, could not operate tv, no remote and using tv could not get to connect, shower was a solid stream like from a garden hose could not change, bathroom door bottom from old particle board frayed like pom poms, carpet is from the late 70s or early 80s, stains over walls and ceiling. Guy that checked us in was really nice. Owner in am could tell I was not pleased and said doing some upgrades in Nov. Meeds to be closed down, demolished and re build if you like.
- Dawn (2/5): - My room was not ready when I got there and after several hours of waiting they said it was finally ready, gave me a key and I walked into a filthy room that was not even cleaned and definitely not ready. I finally left and never stayed. I requested my money back and they said they would take care of it, but they still have not refunded my money. If I could give negative stars I would!!! Don't stay here
- Tricia (2/5): Not a pleasant stay - This is not an Inn, it is a motel. We arrived at 5pm and they didn't have a room ready for us. When we did get to our room the floor was dirty (had not been vacuumed) and there was mildew all over the bathroom ceiling. We tried looking for another hotel but all was booked. Would not recommend staying here.
- Rachel (8/5): - The c staff was fri r ndly and welcoming. The room was spacious and clean.Temperature in room was perfect.I was able to rest due to the bed being so comfortable. The bathroom was small but clean. The water pressure was amazing!Honestly one of the best showers ever. The breakfast was also excellent. Food was hot .Lots to choose from.My overall stay here was rather pleasant. All this place needs is a little updating.I would definately stay here again.
- Anyhony (10/5): - The staff was nice and helpful as always, the parking lot was cleaner and the breakfast area was also cleaner than it has been in the past. The new management seems to be trying hard to better the situation, does new room updates but our normal room was great as always.
- Abe (10/5): - Breakfast was excellent. Staff was amazing. Loved the suite. Needs a little work but they are working on it. Reserved the suite again for my self and my two boys for Labor Day weekend
- Konstantin (10/5): - My go to place in the area as a sub
- Veronica (2/5): - Everything was absolutely disgusting room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. Smelt like cat pee
- Lacey (10/5): - I would definitely stay again. Property was really nice. Most of the people that work there was friendly. No bugs
- Francis (5/5): -
- Kevin (4/5): - Keys wouldn't work and to move rooms, no rags, very loud, floor wasn't clean
- Alexander (8/5): - The beds were soft and water was hot. Its in the middle of many food spots so thats a big plus. Overall ok experience.
- Sharon (6/5): - Overall a nice place but the room we got the A/C asnt working at first the guy next door had tols.me he gad just moced out of it the day before so someone didnt make suee it was working properly before they put someone in there. Good thing was i was able to get another room later in the evening when i reached out. Grandkids loved the pool always a plus
- Eric (6/5): - The motel needs a lot of refurbishing, and there was no name on the building so we weren't sure we had the right place.
The breakfast was scarce. The room was clean, but had stained carpet and a musty smell.
- Heidi (2/5): Un happy with there service - Was told 50.00 down for pet fee was told would get it back when leave . Then notice they tried to take 50.00 out my card . Then come back said they try to give it back and then said not getting it back and then when I came in to discuss the matter what I was told he told me cause I came
Back in he wasn’t going to talk to his manger and was not giving me back my 50.00 . This was not my mistake . Then told me pool was not opened I couldn’t eat my breakfest in my room and had eat in the lobby . Then get there and hardly no breakfest at all . No milk no biscuit no butter . Poor management but nice place .
- Jalyn (6/5): - I’m not one to complain but some things just didn’t make my stay comfortable. For starters , i was with my 10 year old nephew and he was excited there was a pool. But after he was swimming for about 20-30 minutes he came back to the room saying the pool was green, dirty , and legs covered in mosquito bites. Secondly, I entered the room and it was supposed to be a non-smoking room but it smelled like cigarette smoke or some sort of odd smell. Lastly, one of the blankets on the bed had a big black stain on it and the bed sheet underneath was ripped. The only positive was the bed was comfortable. In the morning there was supposed to be a hot breakfast but all I could get was what looked like microwave eggs and sausage patties. Also, half a waffle because the waffle batter dispenser was almost empty. Needless to say I’m glad I only had to spend one night in that room but I guess you get what you pay for in the end.
- Konstantin (8/5): - Good quit place
- Tekle (6/5): - Breakfast could be better
- Autumn (2/5): - They don’t even deserve 1 star, our first room the bath flooded we flushed the toilet once and next thing you know water all over the floor, and had black mold. The second room has black mold bed bugs and roaches. When I went back to the office to say something he tried to put me into another room to which I declined.
- Thomas (10/5): - Had to come to Lynchburg for a job. It was pretty quick service check in took a bit but it was late when I arrived. Great stay.
- Ronald (10/5): - The whole process from the beginning to the end was very professional and very prompt.
The staff working the desk was very knowledgeable and just a pleasure to deal with.
