- Todd (2/5): - We went to check in and no one was there. We called the number on the door and there was no answer. We left a message and no one called us back. Luckily we found somewhere else to stay.
- John (10/5): Nice place to stay - Very nice in this lovely town. Very Clean and when I asked for more coffee I got it right away for my room.
- Jennifer (8/5): - The room was clean and beds comfortable. The only thing that was off was there was no towels in the room. Found them eventually in the laundry area.
- Brenden (4/5): - Room clearly hadn't been serviced. The trash cans outside were overfilling with trash and never addressed. Beds were clean, but that's about it. Defiantly NOT worth the money. There's also clearly people living in these rooms. I'd avoid this place. The picture are very deceiving.

Only $10 fee for dog. No issue with a 45 lb dog. Stayed one night only on a Road Trip. Would book it again. Thank you!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet Comfortable Motel - Modest '50s style older strip motel. Clean, comfortable. Hostess - helpful and gracious. Great for dog. Direct exit to outside. Good place to walk dog. Low pet fee. Canistota is only 5 miles or so from I-90, but it has a very remote feel. Dog wanted to go out at 2 am. The streets are lit, but the silence is deep. Nothing was moving and traffic noise from the interstate didn't travel to Canistota. Internet OK. Ookla 14 Mbps. Occasionally dropped."

- Verified traveler (10/5): - U bar was a nice quiet place for overnight stay during our travel across South Dakota. Worked out well for us. Easy check in and reasonable priced. Only negative is that it was a little off our path but was an easy drive to and from I 90.

- Johnny (4/5): Filthy - Called 3 times to number for desk with no answer. When i showed up office was locked and a young man came and booked me in saying his mom was gone. On speaker phone she gave him a room to put us in and said it was cleaned and ready. The room was absolutely filthy and no way it had been cleaned at all. Upon checkout again the office was empty with nobody to check out with so i just left. They had no breakfast to offer even though the booking said it did...the young man was nice and helpful but that was the only good thing.

- Verified traveler (6/5): - The manager was very accommodating. She quickly took care of all requests. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The bath towels were soft and fluffy. The HVAC was very noisey. We had to run it for awhile and then shut it off to be able to hear each other and to sleep. Not sure if it was just in out room, or all. We didn't speak to the manager about it - just dealt with it.

- Eric (10/5): Sturgis stopover - I was on a trip to the Sturgis motorcycle rally. Registered online. Small town where everything closed at sunset. No one at office when I arrived at midnight, but owner responded from out of town within 15 minutes of me calling posted phone number. Rate was reasonable, room was in good condition, and customer service was excellent. The owner returned in the morning to prepare french toast and coffee for guests as they got up. Met up with other veteran rally attenders and got great tips on making the best of the event. Would definitely stay here again!

- Heather (4/5): Don’t bother booking in South Dakota small town - We were told there wasn’t a room for us after we booked on line. We were asked if we wanted 2 single rooms at same price.. no we have 2 adults and 14 yr old boys so we didn’t want to have them alone in a room or share a bed with kids. After 29 min. He said he had a dirty room that I ended up cleaning and changing sheets as he washed out sink. I discovered next morning.. no toilet paper and even though complimentary breakfast was from 7-11 at 9 no one was even in the office yet to unlock. The family that showed up just after he left at 11:15 pm was who I felt most sorry for. They didn’t even get in a room & had to leave. They called # on office door only to hear the phone inside empty office ringing.

- Tracey (8/5): Good hotel for the money but no breakfast. - About 10 minutes off the freeway- quiet neighborhood. Motel was clean and front desk attendant was very pleasant. Room and beds were very comfortable. Great motel for the price. I was disappointed that breakfast was suppose to be included, and by 8:15am the front office was still locked and all the lights were off. When traveling with 6 people we take the “breakfast included” into consideration with the cost of the night’s stay. Plus breakfast and coffee at the hotel saves us time from getting off the freeway to grab something. There was also no shampoo in the room.

That being said, the room was one of the cleanest rooms I’ve ever stayed in and I was very impressed. Did the job for what we needed which was a restful sleep.

- Margaret H (6/5): Uncomfortable Yet Comfortable - We were glad to find a room in a quiet area, and the rooms had just been remodeled, but the toilets were the inexpensive, short ones (we are not handicapped), and the management was not onsite. Some kind of family emergency with no backup personnel. I was also uncomfortable when we got an email thanking us for the review when I hadn't made one, making me feel that the reviews for this place may not be honest.
- Jeff (10/5): Great place - Room was clean, comfy, and quiet. Arrived about 11pm and gone by 8am. Didn’t have any breakfast, but I did grab some coffee. I’m pretty picky with my coffee, it was great! Would stay there again... about 5 minutes off the interstate.

- Verified traveler (8/5): A pleasant place to stay - The U Bar is very nice and the people at the desk are quite pleasant and helpful. Calistota is a small town, so finding dinner is a problem. In spite of the best efforts of the people in reception, the internet is not particularly good. It would be nice if the breakfast selection were greater and if there were a refrigerator in the room.
- Virginia (4/5): Poor stay - The room was spacious and bed was comfortable. There was no room service tag for the room and it would have been nice if there was a note pad. Breakfast was substandard. Waffles were good but there was no bread for toast, no rolls, no juice. Apples the first day but no fruit the second day. We stayed two days and had no room service.

- Helen (10/5): Don't let the outside fool you. A joy to stay here - We recently retired and decided to take a trip around the United States. Didn't plan ahead, just made reservations as we went. in total we traveled 5,030 miles. During this trip we made reservations at this motel. Driving up we were VERY apprehensive. It was definitely a throwback to the 50's type Motel. After checking in, we were pleasantly surprised at the motel room. It had EVERYTHING we could possibly want, right down to a fly swatter. Recliner to relax in...a welcome site to my husband. A complete kitchen with all dishes, pots and pans. The village was wonderful. I love to walk and I took a nice walk around the perimeter, getting in a pleasant 2 mile walk. There is a grocery store within driving distance and if we venture here again, I think I will just shop and cook a dinner in the motel room. Breakfast was so pleasant. I was able to get my laundry caught up. All-in-all, I loved this place. I will definitely go again if we ever travel that direction. Loved everything about it. Don't let the outside fool you. This was far and above any hotel we stayed at in our long journey around the United States
- Melanie (4/5): - The room was disgusting, obviously had not been cleaned in a while. There were cob webs hanging from the ceilings in four areas- not little spider webs but the big dusty kind that indicates a space has not been used or cleaned in awhile. The manager was nice enough but didn't do or say much. I wasn't expecting much from the motel, our stay was just a quick place to sleep on our way through the area. Nevertheless, I did expect my room to be clean.

- Holly (2/5): Major FAIL - New ownership is AWFUL No in office, door locked when we tried to check in. Guy came walking across the street nonchalantly finally. There was NO continental breakfast, and NO maid service. Beds weren't maid, no clean towels brought or picked up, trash not emptied. No tissues, almost no soap. Was given 1 tiny bar for 2 of us for 2 days. Shower gel dispenser did not work. We have stayed at this motel for many years while attending family reunion nearby. The old couple that ran it for all those years would be heartbroken to know what they're doing with their business. We and rest of our family will never stay here again. I would be shocked if it will even be open for another year. Very disappointing.

- Patricia (10/5): Small town charm and a good night's sleep! - We were expecting a "suburb" of Souix Falls, and this was quite a bit out of town, but we were pleasantly surprised by the small town quaintness of the location and the motel. The room was the cleanest I have ever experience, the chrome in the bathroom absolutely gleamed! The beds were very comfortable and my only complain was there wasn't a fridge in the room. Our breakfast was cooked fresh for us in the morning and we left very glad we stayed! Friendly and welcoming, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good night's sleep.

We were able to do our laundry and get something to eat at the cafe downtown. The room was clean and well furnished. Breakfast was great and it was really a very good experience overall. - Evan (8/5): Small town get away. - Very nice clean confortable old fashioned mom an pop motel. Comfy beds, nice people who aim to please. Missed the breakfast cuz we got in late and slept in but from what i was told it is good news.

- Heather (10/5): - Super friendly staff, not much in the area but it's an interesting/pretty landscape and little town! Clean hotel, great for a stop passing through.
- Alex (8/5): Not much in town, but a simple, clean room - Older hotel, simple rooms, but clean and the service was nice. Not much to do in the town, but for an overnight stay the hotel was nice.
- William (10/5): Excellent! - If only every hotel were like this one.... haven't got a single complaint. Will definitely stay again.
