Guest Reviews
- Paul & Kay (10/5): -
- Lauri (5/5): - Have always liked this property for years Sorry to see this property is not being maintained properly. Especially after all of the upgrades they have done. Breakfast was not good and coffee was unpleasant. Many things broken or not working. So sad to see it going down hill
- Harold (9/5): We were looking for smoking room, but made this work - Front desk Brandon ? very helpful Phone difficulties
- Julia (1/5): Terrible, will never stay at a Best Western again. - Didnt eat it there.,not much Outside entrance to room, room smelled heavily of cleaning product or spray to cover up smell, as a result Of breathing that odor I ended up with a migraine headache, the bathroom door was broken on bottom. Overall i wont never stay here again. After 12 hrs of driving expected a better room for money. Reviews were what i went by only to wonder.
- Robledo (7/5): -
- Bradley (8/5): Athens Best Western - Breakfast was great. Room was clean and comfortable.
Check in clerk was great
Check out clerk was unfriendly had earbuds in didn't speak to customers. Very rude.
- J4919QLrebeccay (6/5): Clean budget motel - We stayed for one night for a quick overnight stay on a road trip from Destin to St. Louis. The beds were clean and the room smelled clean.
- N9903BMkathyk (10/5): Clean and friendly staff - Our truck broke down in Athens and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to be. The staff was understanding and sympathetic. The service shop fixed our truck same day but because it was late we spent a second night here. There are lots of places in walking distance to eat. Applebees is across the parking lot. This hotel was spotless!! We were on a 10 day road trip and this place is meticulous in cleaning every nook and cranny. I give them a 10 in every way!!
- Bradley (7/5): Athens Al - Bed was comfortable. Desk clerk was very nice and helpful. Lighting in room was better than most.
Breakfast was one of the best I have had. Operation of tv was difficult. No coffee pot but they did give me one.
- sandytryles (10/5): A great rest stop on our 1000 mile journey - Well taken care of by the night desk clerk. Very helpful and friendly.
Easy off the express way and near restaurants.
Clean comfortable room
- Colter (9/5): -
- Heather (7/5): -
- Finn (9/5): Comfortable and convenient - Close to the highway
Nice breakfast
Close to other restaurants It is a little worn down, but you can tell it is cared for.
- Paul (9/5): - Location and pet friendly Coffee wasn't good
- Brenda (6/5): Ok. Could gave been better. - It was clean. It looked updated but the craftsman who did the work were slopping with paint etc. There were a lot of work trucks in the lot. I'm guessing it was those people who made lots of noise as it was 5-5:30am when it was loud for over an hour! Lumpy bed.
- Brent (10/5): - Great friendly staff at an older well kept hotel. Great breakfast too Nothing
- Courtney (8/5): -
- Timothy (4/5): Very average, basic, not worth the cost. - The location The room, drab, very basic, old furniture,
Matress not comfortable
- Paul (9/5): I would stay there again. - The hotel was in good condition for being older The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good.
- Wendell (7/5): No real complaints. Room was clean. Staff helpful - NA Elevator would have been nice
- bobbypoe42 (10/5): Great place to stay for the money. Staff is very nice and friendly. Best location in Athens for convenience to great foo - The hotel is located in a perfect location. Within five minutes you can be to some of the best restaurants there is or you can walk to 3 or 4 of them. You can also be at shopping centers within five minutes. Hotel is very clean and the staff is very friendly.
- Teri (10/5): It was very comfortable - Cleanliness Doors are facing outside
- Eleazar (10/5): -
- Stacie0913 (10/5): I’d stay here. - BW Athens, AL, is a nice, clean little hotel. It has clean, Snow White linens and a decent quick breakfast that included eggs, sausages, hot pancakes and various bakery items.
- Nina (8/5): Convenient - The location is excellent for access to the expressway. Lots of variety for breakfast. The bed squeaked. (Room 220)
- 226staciek (10/5): Good stay in Athens. - Athens, AL - arrived about 10pm, checking was instant, efficient & friendly. Room was adequate even though a little dated. The linens were snow white and fresh. There were ample pillows.
Although a full parking lot, we never heard people or vehicles.
The morning staff was friendly, breakfast was good and in a sparkling clean dining area.
Yes, I recommend!
- gruner1206 (10/5): Just What I Needed! - I was surprised at the affordability of these accomodations. The decor was recently upgraded and I loved the efficient, modern look. After a long day of traveling all I wanted was clean, simple and comfy. I got it! The hot shower in the remodeled bathroom was excellent. I slept well in the bed and felt safe in my exterior access room. It was very nice having my car immediately outside my door, too. A hot breakfast was the last thing I enjoyed at this Best Western as I started another long day of travel fully refreshed.
- Explorer24857523685 (10/5): Highly recommend. - Brittany our clerk was so gracious and kind. It was a breeze to check in. Plus the fact that they are friendly and accepti g of pets. We didn't want to eat breakfast before hitting the road this morning but it was there and looked great. The coffee however, we both said best we've ever had. Thank you Brittany and Best Western
- Mark (5/5): it’s over - not sure out side entrance , condition of building, raining when we got there, rain gutters all plugged, wondering when the building wiil be torn down! outdated! looks likeva mom and pop room, that should be rented for $50
- Rebecca (5/5): - The woman who checked us out was very rude.
- patriciavD6722BK (10/5): Great Experience from Best Western Athens Alabama - Great experience. This was last minute, the front desk went out of there way to make me feel welcome. We’ll definitely stay again if an area.
- Jeff (8/5): - Good. Booking.com was the only complaint about our whole experience. Best Western had no say in Booking.com.
- ksW8966CE (8/5): Sufficient, Clean & Affordable! - We had not stayed at this BW for over 12 yrs. We were glad to find it still in operation. Karen made the check in easy and was able to meet our 1st floor request. The flooring is no longer carpet, which is great. The room was clean, but mattress & furniture have seen better days. I understand a reno is on the way. Breakfast was good & filling. We will definitely stay again after renovations. Location is so convenient right off of I-65. Rate is decent considering our current economy. Thanks BW!!
- bobbypoe42 (10/5): Great location - One of the best places I’ve ever stayed for the price location is second to none some of the best restaurants within 10 minutes of old downtown Athens I would recommend the old black bear and Ro’s place is very clean and the staff is unbelievably friendly

- Tittle (7/5): -
- marcuscD5607LV (8/5): Not a bad stop - The rule was very clean and pleasantly accessible from the parking lot. We have been traveling all day and this was important.
- 333cherij (10/5): Always satisfied with the Best Western in Athens Alabama. - Each year we visit Athens Alabama, and we always stay with Best Western. The rooms are clean, and the staff is very kind. From booking our room, till the time we check out we are always satisfied. They are willing to help in any way possible. Having Applebee's next door is a big plus! The hotel is located in the center of anything you could possibly need.
- Lee (6/5): - Needed a place to sleep for a few hours. Not horrible but dated. Room smelled musty and was humid.
- Karen (8/5): -
- Patricia (8/5): We'll stay again. - The room was very clean, and the staff was very helpful. Breakfast was good, with pancakes, cold cereal, muffins and bagels, sausage, eggs, gravy, and a yogurt machine with toppings.
We were there for the Fiddlers Convention, and will likely stay next year also.
,
- Carrie (10/5): - Clean and comfortable! Good service during one night stay!
- BradLey (10/5): - The lady at the front desk is priceless. Very sweet and very helpful
- Christopher (8/5): - Rooms were very clean, comfortable, and spacious. My room was accessible and the bathroom was huge, very easy to maneuver in the entire room. I would definitely stay here again!
- PackednReady55 (10/5): Always a pleasure to stay here. - Always a great experience at this hotel. Much to my surprise was that I hadn't changed my reservation to a day earlier when my plans changed. That wasn't a problem as Miss Patel took care of it for me. The rooms are very clean and the bed was really comfortable.
- Price (4/5): - Room was damp - bed felt wet. Smelled of smoke.
- James (8/5): - Decent place to stay
- Megan (8/5): - Easy and clean
- William (6/5): - This hotel is old and needing upkeep. Bathroom was very small. Furniture in need of restoration. Beds were squeaky. Mirror and art work hung crooked. On the plus side, it was inexpensive. Staff were friendly. Food was hot. It was a quiet night. It is very close to the interstate and restaurants. It served its purpose, if your goal is to get a quick stop and a nights sleep and some food in the morning.
- Kay (8/5): - Parking was close to our room
- Floyd (10/5): - Convenient
- toni (10/5): - Very clean and reasonable rates
- Theresa (10/5): - enjoyed our stay
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Nice and save place to stay
- Jacek (10/5): - TV didn't work
- Karen (8/5): - Accessible to interstate.
- Pamela (10/5): - Older property but very clean stayed there a few times and will stay again also pet friendly.
- Patti (10/5): - Easy check in, clean room, good pet area.
- Tyler (10/5): Great Stay - pretty good room, great customer service from the lady i yapped with on 2nd shift lol
- Daniel (10/5): - A little older but very clean. Would stay again. The area seems to be building up with some newer hotels but are more expensive. Lots of food choices very close.
- Chad Mashburn (8/5): - Close to highway and restaurants Older, outdated, room phone was not connected to wall, couldn't even find wall plug., no power outlets in easy reach. Found 1 that came from a lamp across the room
- Cody (10/5): - The pool wasnt shut down but locked due to colder weather temps, called the front desk and the lady opened it for my room to have some time aroind the pool
- Mark (4/5): - The staff was friendly but that ends the positive portion of this review. The door to the room hung loosely in it's frame and had to be pulled toward you and lifted for the electronic key to work. Tiles in the bathroom that had fallen off were sloppily caulked back in place leaving gaps for dirt and debris to accumliate. The WiFi signal was too week to be functional. There was a chance at redemption at breakfast but wasn't realized. The food was so dried out and stale as to render it virtually inedible. IMHO, the $30 pet fee was excessive since time had done way more damage than a little Frenchie could possibly do.
- Alyssa (8/5): - Very clean room and was nice to get a good nights sleep uninterrupted. No extra noise just wish the water pressure was a bit better.
- Alex (10/5): Perfect stay!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - It was a great stay. However, when I arrived I used the bathroom. I sat on the toilet for some time, then stood up and saw a spider in the toilet. Having realized I was just exposed to the little guy, I felt uncomfortable. He could have crawled into my butt or worse. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast smelled good when we checked out.
- Melissa (4/5): - The room was clean but it was extremely hard to get the door locked!! When using the shower, I was ankle deep in water. Not the best place but not the absolute worst either. Area was ok. It was a decent spot to sleep for the night
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall, a good clean room.
- Rita (8/5): - Everything was good. Staff very nice and knowledgeable.
- Karla (8/5): -
- Carston (10/5): - Thanks!
- Cindy (10/5): - Nice place to stop
- Sheryl (6/5): - Ok for the money. Nothing special.
- Kory (8/5): - This hotel is the middle-price in the area. It served its purpose as a place to stop for the night for a reasonable price. It's a motel, so it was nice to pull up to the door and unload a couple bags for the night.
I was most impressed that the room was quiet--especially as close to the interstate--compared to newer hotels where you hear all the hallway noises.
Would definitely stay again.
- Tracy (10/5): - We wnjoyed our stay here. It was only one night on a weekday. The staff was very nice, polite and informative. The parking lot was a little small but it wasn't overcrowded either. There were restaurants on either side and a short walk down the road. I honestly did not pay attention to the available shopping. We did not use the pool but it looked clean and maintained. Our room was clean and neat. Even though we were right off the interstate, it was pretty quiet. No complaints. I would stay here again if i were in the area.
- James (8/5): - Room smelled stuffy from the AC system.
- Douglas R. (8/5): - The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean and fresh smelling. I slept well. The breakfast was basic but as good as any other hotel. The coffee was decent.
- Shannon (10/5): - We were traveling to Florida and found Best Western as an option to stay. We were booking two rooms for an overnight stop after a long 13 hour day. Booking was easy, front desk staff was friendly, helpful and process of check in was quick. Room accommodations were nice, clean, quiet and next door to Applebees’s. Cost was more affordable then area hotels. We enjoyed the breakfast and the women working in the AM was super nice and accommodating for our group of 5. We will definitely be back!
- Mary (8/5): - Ok for a night stay. Decent price
- Bannerman (9/5): Expectations met -
- Richard (5/5): - Good location Got to the room and it smelt mildewy. Smell of old cigarette smoke. The bed linens were still wet.
- Richard (6/5): - Staff was very friendly and helpful. However, the room smelled like cigarettes and the bed creaked every time I moved. The breakfast selection was very limited and the cereal was stale.
- Valentin (5/5): -
- Jeana (4/5): - I liked how convenient it was to everything. When we got in, our sheets were... muggy? feeling... Almost like they didnt get completely dry but someone still put them on the beds. There was no shampoo or body wash in the shower. There was also no little cups at the sink. It was decent for a one night stay, but not for any longer.
- Chad (8/5): -
- Sandy (4/5): Disappointing - Breakfast was good Room not very clean. Around shower handles open wall🤔Barely any toilet tissue, false fire alarm middle of night
- Becca (2/5): - Very expensive night’s stay for bad smelling, hot, mildewed room, so much so that the beds and all bedding and pillows were damp and smelly
- Voyager452455 (10/5): Will return - The room was clean and no sign of roaches we seen in days inn in Athens Alabama. The pool was clean, plenty of towels and people at front desk were nice and helpful
- Deborah (6/5): - Needs serious repairs and upgrades
- USAIndytravels (8/5): Good choice. - Great place for a night or two. Stopped here for an overnight on a longer drive. Clean room and facility. Good bed. Hot (very) water and good pressure. Friendly staff, decent looking breakfast! Simple clean friendly efficient cheap
- bobbypoe42 (10/5): Great stay better Location - The staff is very friendly. The breakfast was very fresh. The coffee was amazing. You are within walking distance of six restaurants. You’re only five minutes from downtown Athens, where you can go to the old Black Bear or Village Pizza either way you will be the winner.
- summer6008 (6/5): stopping point! - stayed for one night, the room needed a deep cleaning and some updates, the bed was comfortable and we did enjoy the pool.
- Lucille (10/5): - It was clean, quiet, staff was pleasant and nice . Breakfast was good.
1 prob was finding a hair on a clean wash rag .
- Brooke (10/5): - Great stay for a good price
- Victor (10/5): - It was okay for one night. The bed was a little tough but I as able to sleep well.
- Timothy (10/5): - Cheap hotel right off the interstate.
- Todd (4/5): - Tv remote didn’t work and door had trouble locking.
- Alexander (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pat (6/5): Won't stay again. - Much in room in disrepair, walls, lamps, etc. Floor not clean
- Bentley (5/5): Sleepless night - The air conditioner ran so loud I couldn’t sleep
- Lovely (10/5): Exceptional -
