- Bethany (7/5): - Good place to rest and the location is convenient. The reason I stay is cause my friend lives down the road. Beds are nice and clean. Rooms are clean and public areas are clean. Rooms are outdated. While tubs amd toilets were upgraded since my last stay. The paint in the room has several chips in them, which is nothing new. Tub didn't drain that great and the drawers on the dresser would not close. Was it worth $500 for 2 nights? Absolutely not. Breakfast is okay. Glad to see that some items were updated. But breakfast area is tight between trying to navigate the breakfast area, and weave through tables. Wish items were labeled a bit better. Grabbed their hot egg offering as labeled, not knowing that there was cheese in there. Ice machine needs a clean. There is mold growing on it. Sad to say, I have recently stay at other hotels for half the price and much better rooms.

- CONQQRR (10/5): Warm safe haven out of the blizzard - The Best Western on Beacon became our safe haven in the 2026 winter storm. The atmosphere was extremely welcoming as well as comforting. The rooms were updated as well as very clean and I’m an extreme stickler for clean. The rooms were not only clean but well stocked l. The value was fare. But most importantly the staff were so nice. I hate I didn’t remember names but 2 young ladies at the desk and the guy shoveling in the lot were all amazing. If ever in the Grand Haven area definitely stop in. And btw the 2. Or 2.5 stars absolutely do not do them justice. Great clean comfortable stay!!

They have free breakfast, we didn’t utilize but did grab some things for snack. Pool was great, our daughter loved it! Carpet wasn’t thoroughly clean, but still worth the stay.

It was easy to check in, as I'd booked and paid online ahead (obviously). Staff was great. It was the manager on duty. She was awesome. Meh... I can't say there was much. There was a spot on the carpet where someone may have set an iron for like a second too long. I barely noticed. The table was a little too small for two people to work at. That said, the benches provided a good secondary spot for documents and things.

When we got our room it had an overpowering smell so we asked for a different room. As we were unpacking in new room the staff used their key and walked in on us without knocking. The new room was dirty. Bathroom had not been cleaned. Floors were dirty. Shower had hair all over. I have so much to say about what we experienced. Front desk called the room and asked us to confirm our last name. The whole experience was unpleasant unprofessional and made us uncomfortable.

There was a Coast Guard festival and we had no idea had to navigate the crowds and traffic. The manager/clerk gave us great information on how to utilize the shuttle system to visit the waterfront for fireworks and music. The breakfast was very good, too.

- 395dawnu (10/5): Over the top AMAZING!!! - Best Western is literally the BEST!!!! I would give them a 10plus out of 5 scale. That's how over the top amazing the whole staff is. I had a horrible Christmas with family dysfunction issues and they became my family. Every person I met went above and beyond in extending kindness and grace to a broken hearted lonely dv survivor. They extended exceptional care to whoever was in the lobby. I will continue to refer others to them and Best Western is now my favorite hotel chain. Words are inadequate to explain how grateful I am to each and every person who works there. When i realized I was going to stay longer, they gave me their weekly rate back dating it to when I moved in. When I checked out, I explained i really liked their pillows and could I purchase one? They were $8 a piece. At that rate, I ordered 2!!!! Now I have a memory of their kindness when I lay my head down to sleep at night. They are located a mile from lake Michigan. They have an indoor pool and hot tub. They respected my need for privacy and not wanting anyone(cleaning people) to go in my room. I brought them my trash and they gave me several bags to replace in trash cans. Gave them dirty towels and they replaced with same number of clean freshly folded ones. Lots of restaurants nearby as well as Meijer, Walmart, and just about everything else. 24 hour laundromat 2 minutes away. Fridge and microwave in room. Literally everything you'd want or need very close by. Excellent staff with amazing service at an affordable price with lots of amenities. They have a bookshelf area with free books, games you can borrow, puzzles, ..... They have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable!! Oh yeah, free breakfast is delicious too!! Hope you're seeing how over the top amazing Best Western truly is 😊
- williechuck (2/5): Poor Nighttime Staffing and Attention to Noise Complaints - New Year’s Eve - of course there would be a party in the room above. We arrived back at our room from “ball drop” in town at about 12:30am. Earlier in the day, we had noticed that there appeared to be a large group congregated in the room above: many children running back-and-forth, screaming, and loud conversations from adults. Slightly annoying during the day but - having raised three active kids of our own - understandable. As we left for our off-site NYE activities, we held out hope that things would abate by the time we returned. However, upon entering the room, we immediately realized that the activities above were showing no signs of slowing down. We contacted the hotel’s front desk at approximately 12:50am to report the excessive noise and activity above and requested that somebody look into quieting things down a bit. The immediate attitude from the hotel employee suggested that we were wasting her time and that she was not interested in addressing our concerns. After much back-and-forth, she agreed to “look into the noise.” At about 1:30am, with the noise showing no signs of ceasing, we contacted the hotel’s front desk again - she stated that she had gone to the third floor and walked around, that the only noise she had heard was the sound of televisions and that she “was uncomfortable knocking on guests doors.” I suppose if she had walked the entire length of the third floor, with her eyes closed and wearing noise-cancelling headphones playing loud music, she may have missed the ongoing party…nonetheless, she made it very clear that she had expended all of the effort that she intended to devote to the issue. Additionally, upon our request to move to a room away from the noise, she stated that there were no open rooms with kind beds available and offered no alternative. In response to our expressions of dissatisfaction at here lack of concern and our opinion that we were due some form of partial refund, she stated that she would “leave a note for the manager”. The party above finally tapered-off between 3:15-3:30am. When we checked out two days later (grateful that our third floor neighbors had not stayed the extra night and that we were afforded a decent night’s sleep, in advance of our 10 hour drive), we weren’t able to find any hotel staff to discuss our concerns. I get it…it’s NYE, many of us are going to celebrate, drink, and let their kids stay up late. Under those circumstances, it’s easy to forget that you’re staying in close quarters with others and lose sight of the fact that others are shutting it down “early”. This hotel fell WAY short in ensuring that their staff was capable of addressing the issues at hand.

The ice machine could be more conveniently located. A truck running its engine all night in the parking lot one night (of our 4 night stay) was bothersome.

- Jessica (4/5): Bad service - The best thing I have to say about this hotel is although it seems old and outdated it was clean. We were put in a side building unattached from the hotel so use of the pool and hot tub were inconvenient. The biggest issue I had was with the service. I checked in request connected rooms. I was told there are no connecting rooms but he would put us next to each other. I checked in about 5:15 (check in starts at 4). We went to dinner and came back to realize our rooms were 509 and 610 but on the opposite side of the building of each other. When I inquired and asked for a room change or solution no apology was given. I was told I should have checked in earlier and said that we have kids. Which I had been told our rooms were next to each other and he had asked if we had kids I said yes. He proceeded to tell me no he knows his words he didn’t say that. A simple apology and we are booked up at the very least would have been nice. And if he said I requested no such things why would we have rooms 609-610 in numerical order? Obviously he made a mistake not knowing 610 is on the other side of the building. Very poor customer service and not only to myself but I witnessed it of other guests. This may be an employee issue but also the inconvenience of being in a separate building makes my choice to never stay here again. There should be apologies or resolutions to valid guest complaints.

This should have been noticeable to the cleaning staff, which makes me wonder what else had not been cleaned. There was a considerable amount of dog hair on the table between the beds.

Our room was very clean but the walls are thin and I could hear the guy next door pee. AC was a bit noisy when it kicked on. Overall I felt safe. Breakfast was the standard fare.

- Phsmsu (4/5): Pretty disappointing - First impressions were good. The place seems recently updated and everything was clean and new looking. The beds were comfortable and pillows plentiful. However: no comfortable chairs for reading or relaxing. The phone in the room for calling the desk was just decoration as it wasn’t connected to anything. The tub floor in the shower was very slippery—a safety hazard. Bath towels were thin and scratchy although new looking. Breakfast was a disaster. We arrived at 6:15 to find a large crowd of construction workers already there. That was fine. They need breakfast. But no one was monitoring the food supply. There was no bread for toast, the eggs were gone, only decaf coffee was available, the orange juice was depleted. There was no way to contact hotel staff. The hotel is located in a pleasant quiet area but you have to drive to get to a good restaurant. We have usually stayed in Comfort Inns but thought we’d try Best Western this time. Maybe a mistake.
- Peggy (2/5): - We had a medical issue (complete reverse shoulder replacement) that required I keep ice stocked for my husband throughout the night. I had no idea that the rate we booked was for a room with an outside entrance, which would require that I walk outside, by myself throughout the night, to an adjacent building to get ice. I expressed my concern over this, and was told "really.. .. this is Grand Haven". There were exactly 8 cars parked in the lots in front of the 3 buildings. Employee refused to "upgrade" us to a room where I'd have interior access to an ice machine, unless I paid $20 additional. Her comment "I can't just give away money - my manager would never allow this." Meanwhile, I discovered the next morning when I checked out that she WAS the mgr. I had not prepayed through a travel site - so she could have very easily made the room change for us. She most definitely had the authority. Other "accouterments": Wall outlet for lamp and coffee maker, at the desk, had no power, and the refrigerator froze the fruit I had brought along for my husband. We live 3 hours away, which is why we needed to come in the night before for my husband's appointment, and will also have 2 or 3 more trips to Grand Haven. We definitely won't be staying here. One positive - Megan, who was at the desk the next AM, was exceptionally nice and apologized for the treatment we had received. She also knew that the mgr had cost the property 2 or 3 additional revenue nights.
