- 258sherrin (10/5): Clean, quaint & comfy! - It's a beautifully quaint motel. The staff was efficient and nice at check in. They made sure we knew all the amenities that were availabe. The room was roomy, clean, comfy and quiet. Beds and pillows were good. A nice assortment of coffee for the coffee maker. The TV was great. There were many choices of things to watch. Overall a very nice place to stay.

- karencU3838PY (10/5): A nice place to stay in Clayton - A good stop on road trip. Across from Love's gas station (with $2.09/gal gas!) and on our way to Amarillo, TX from Taos, NM. Bookings.com said no pets, but asked at front desk and found out pets were allowed for around $20/night (2 dogs). Room was nice (2 beds). It was Quiet, beds were good. Nothing fancy, but clean and nice. Good pet area. Better breakfast (included in very reasonable price) than most hotels on our road trip so far. I'd stay here again. (There was also a large parking area for RV's or Semi's right next to the hotel.)

The clerk said that they were working on a pipe. By the looks of it, it's been down for sometime. If you want to be the best place in Clayton, get the pool up and running asap

My husband and I were unable to sleep through the night and have been awake with back and neck pain. We travel frequently and stay in hotels very often, and this is the first time we have ever had such a poor experience. This experience has been very disappointing, and I felt it was important to bring it to your attention immediately.

- RglrmaninTX (8/5): It's OK - not great but not bad - The hotel staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful. My room (Rm 124) was clean, although there were some slight issues: the round plate on the shower head arm is rusty, the bathroom door is scratched, the case goods are heavily scratched, and the lamp shade is broken. The property sits ‘right on’ Hwy 87 (name changes to 1st Street in town), and the traffic noise can be disturbing when trying to sleep. I travel with a small fan, which helped drown out the traffic noise. The breakfast was good and featured homemade tortillas, homemade green chili, and fresh-cracked eggs. Out of the few hotel properties in the area, this is probably the best one. Note that there are no fast-food restaurants in the area; there is one grocery store and a Dollar General nearby.

- Scenic788088 (10/5): Best Western with Resort Vibe. - As Best Westerns go this is as good as it gets. Almost a resort level vibe. Recent upgrades to the entire facility including painting and new roof show sincere commitment to guest satisfaction. Best dog walking provisions by far with a beautifully maintained, shaded park replete with benches, tables, chairs, et. al.
- Cardinalis (4/5): Calling Ponce de Leon - We have stayed at Kokopelli quite a few times. Unfortunately like all of us it's not getting any younger. The front door to our room didn't quite fit and had a gap on two sides, big enough for flies to easily enter, which they did. But there was a fly swatter thoughtfully placed on the windowsill which we used on to good effect on five successful search and destroy missions. The outer drapes had no pull rods so we're not sure if they were supposed to. There was a pull rod on one side of the inner drapes although it promptly tore off of the sheer curtain fabric and just hung there. To their credit, Kokopelli Lodge is trying. They had just finished some repainting before we got there and we know it was fresh because the door was tacky. And the bathroom door wouldn't close all the way because it didn't fit right either. Of course after 47 years together my wife and I could deal with that, but just sayin'. On the hospitality side, only one key card worked until they remade a new set. There were no towels in the room at check-in. The tissues were thin and rough although, to be fair, so are almost everyone's. Hope our next stay is better.

Really need to get better blocking curtains and noise fans. Really need to upgrade the bathrooms. Yuck. Pool was closed and looked like a lot of remodel construction. The area is not safe. The breakfast is across the parking lot and not great. Its just a strange experience.

- yeehas2025 (2/5): Best Western Kokopelli Lodge Fraudulent Policies - Be aware of Kokopelli's vehicle parking regulations. They are fraudulent. Website says free parking. Reality it's for one vehicle only. Extra vehicles are $25 each. Once you try to check in, you are notified of the real policy. It's too late to cancel your reservation if you disagree and you're are charged the full rate plus $25 per. I was traveling with my wife and had two vehicles. It was pay up or get out. I'm refuting the charge with my credit card company. Best Western needes to be truthful in their website advertising.

We can always count on Kokopelli Lodge for a clean, quiet room when we are traveling between Colorado and our home in Arkansas. I would give it 5 stars, but the curtains don’t block all the light from the walkway. Otherwise, we love this place!

The room in this sixties style motor lodge was clean, comfortable, and spacious with good amenities. The complementary breakfast buffet was a welcome change from typical chain offerings. Recommend.
