Guest Reviews

- Mcallister (7/5): - The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and comfortable. And.. sitting in the hot tub was extremely enjoyable. The TV area was pretty dusty. There was quite a bit of trash/debris under the bed and the mattress protector on the bed had hair and stains on it. The bathtub was not very clean either. And.. our microwave door was broken.

- Taragon97 (6/5): Clean but needs an update! - We stayed here for one night and it was fine. It was clean which was the most important thing to me - however, the mattresses are in desperate need of replacement and I had a brand new (like straight out of the package complete with fold marks) sheet on my bed - so while it was "clean" it was incredibly stiff and scratchy. The rooms are dark, the TV was tiny and I didn't love that if my curtains were open people would be walking by and could see straight into my room (we were on a ground floor). But we needed the curtains open so the room wasn't a cave! We chose to do breakfast elsewhere so I can't comment on that. The staff was friendly and even checked us in several hours prior to check-in time because they had a room available.
- Billi (1/5): -
- Nina (10/5): Everyone was friendly helpful the place was clean quite - I was pleased that it was the first hotel right when we came into town Small but that was just fine with us
- Hernandez (10/5): The staff was great. They also supplied all toiletries. The maintenance man was extra nice. - Breakfast was great. A lot of options. Good hours. N/A
- Melissa (6/5): Okay - It’s okay Needs some work..
- Terry (10/5): - location and parking were great. Friendly staff very clean
- Hunter (5/5): N/A - N/A Dirty room, shower was nasty, sheet had stain. food from previous guests.
- Doug (8/5): It was great! - good and friendly nothing..good and frienfly
- nick (4/5): -
- Tim (7/5): - Facility floors dirty
- Karen (6/5): We gave stayed here many times as it is convenient for an event we attend. Probably will re think it - Breakfast was good. Location was good. Security doors from parking lot were broken
First room bathroom not clean
Second room had no coffee and no body wash. Water all over bathroom floor. Hot tub had a foot of foam on it. Maintenance and housekeeping staff that cares
- Michael (9/5): - Didn't have much a selection, staff was very friendly
- Laurel (7/5): Overall it was an ok place to stay especially if other places were worse. - The place was clean and bed was very comfortable. The staff were very nice and responded immediately. Had to wait until next day for a refrigerator. Bathroom was very small. A bit expensive for the age of the hotel.
- Elaine (9/5): Very nice, clean, comfortable place to stay. We will be back! - The room was very clean, especially the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the coffee maker worked! I had to wait at the desk about 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged that I was there. There was a sign that said attendant was gone and to push the button and someone would come. When the young man did come, he was very nice and I was checked in quickly.
- beckycR9780NN (4/5): Don’t bother staying here if you want any service or comfortable bed. - I stayed in this hotel for 5 days. No one ever came to change out the towels or empty the trash. Instead I received a note under my door to bring towels and trash to the front desk and it would be exchanged for clean ones. The mattress also was horrible and needs replaced as you roll to the middle of the bed. Also when I used the restroom I had to physically reach inside the tank and pull up the plunger to flush ever time I used it. Upon checking out and paying $450 for my stay, I inquired about a discount for having to do my own stuff and was told by a young lady sitting on the floor on her phone that they only clean rooms upon a 2week stay and that they did change out towel in my room. Which I said was a lie and that I had been there for 5 days with no service. I will not be staying here ever again…

- Connie (5/5): It was ok and we appreciated the room, but I would stay elsewhere next time - The view The handicap accommodations
- kevingP2445SQ (8/5): Met The Needs, Not The Request - The hotel was clean, rooms were well kept and comfortable. There was a snafu with the room I requested, which was a pretty big deal to me, but it seemed too late to do anything about it, so I just went with it. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was very basic, fruit, cold cereal, coffee, and juice. As a place to stay, it was good, as far as getting what I paid for, it fell short on this trip. BW has ALWAYS been q quality experience in the past.
- Meander286644 (6/5): Clean up your act. - This employees are very kind here. They do their jobs the best they can, with what they have to work with. The place is running down. Its the owners who are responsible for being Best Western who are responsible for the things that are not getting fixed or kept in working order. If the employees don't have the proper supplies to keep things up to date and fixed, its too difficult underneath the way things are truly maintained. The mattresses need to be replaced. The bedding is there to cover the worst stains on a mattress i have ever seen. It's disgusting. The toilets don't always work. Im sorry i can't pretend its ok. It isn't. Clean up your motels best Western owners and fix your sh!! Its wrong. Or close your filthy motels.
- Bruce (9/5): - I was able to get a workout in at the pool. The breakfast was a bit basic.
- Lindsay (6/5): It was a good stay! - Pool/hot tub were great
Wonderful breakfast
Friendly staff
Clean room Could hear people walking above us all night. Very loud when you are on ground floor.
- Florence (8/5): -
- Kevin (8/5): - Loved the location and the staff, the breakfast is awesome pool is nice. The beds are uncomfortable and its noisy if your on the ground floor.
- Tyler (4/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): Pool was an added bonus. Most enjoyable stay. - Very early breakfast helped our start.
- Edward (7/5): -
- Daniel (9/5): -
- Randy (8/5): - Stayed one night
- Tim (3/5): Room smelled poorly and a wall near the bathroom was damaged. -
- John (10/5): Professional staff, beautiful room, delicious breakfast, loved the great tasting coffee!! - Everything!! Nothing
- Michael (10/5): - Friendly staff
- John (10/5): - We were celebrating our 40th Anniversary and just taking some time in Western Ne where we got engaged. Lovely hotel. Enjoyed our stay and went on to the Black Hills.
Thank you we will come again.
Linda and John Urick
- Benjamin (8/5): - Jetted tub didn't work so we had to switch rooms. Actually the 2nd room we got was way nicer than the first and didn't stink. Overall a decent pass through stop.
- Jenny (1/5): This was a huge mistake. - The lady working at the front desk on the day of check-in was VERY nice!! -no elevator and it is not stated ANYWHERE that they don’t have one. I have a physical disability and my elderly mother was with us. We were upstairs, which would be fine IF there was an elevator.
-finally got a clean room AFTER three tries. We got our luggage upstairs only to find out that it was completely disgusting. It appeared that nobody had even stepped foot in there after the guest left. So, I went back downstairs to the front desk. She got us a different room, great! I go BACK upstairs only to find the next room was still disgusting. So I go back downstairs again… this time she got us a room on the bottom floor. Upstairs I go AGAIN to grab my family and our luggage to go to the 3rd room. We get the luggage downstairs and get to the room. It wasn’t super clean but we were exhausted and I was in an immense amount of pain. My arm and leg muscles were having extreme muscle spasms after everything. Apparently, we should’ve because there was urine on the floor by the toilet. 🤢🤮
-The beds were AWFUL!! You could visibly see the hole in the middle of the bed. As if I wasn’t in enough pain the night before let’s add this to it.
-When I brought this to the managers attention we got told we would receive a 10% discount… that I have yet to receive…
-This was a great way to start our vacation that we had been saving for. Nothing like going to the Black Hills tired and in pain. This Best Western should be called the Worst Western. This place needs some help. I NEVER leave bad reviews, ever, but I felt like I needed to warn others.
- DeAnza (10/5): - Hallways no so clean but the room itself was great.
- Graham (6/5): Tired hotel but adequate - We pulled back the curtain which clearly the cleaner never had and there was a mass of cobwebs in corners .. similar with shower curtain which hadnt been pulled away from the wall as a big load of black hair residing there .. room was comfortable but had random stuff in fridge and someones slider shoes left on floor. Moved chair a little and again no ones done that much as debris under there
Pillows are cushion size and difficult to get comfy with .. bed was okay
Breakfast was adequate but no juice or hot water available to make tea, had to have coffee which was not that good.
Hotel is tired and if youre looking for a favourable eco rating then stop using paper plates, cups and major aaaaargh .. plastic cutlery .. buy a dishwasher and use proper plates and cutlery .. then you get good eco rating
- Terrence (6/5): - Solid hotel. Older but clean. Conveniently located off highway 385.
- Dave (8/5): - Nice overall
- Cathy (7/5): Wonderful staff, very clean rooms, but I won't stay here again due to old building with no elevator - The staff was wonderful, accommodating, and helpful. Very clean rooms and comfy beds. The building itself is old. The 2 story building has stairs, no elevator. If you have large/heavy items, you will want a 1st floor room. However, we were on the 1st floor and after the first night of listening to the person stomping around in the room above us (THIN FLOORING), the manager/boss told us the man in the room above us had checked out that morning and she would not put anyone else in the room above us for the next night. That was a very good solution as we didn't have any issues after that.
- eric (4/5): - Broken chair, not room service. No coffee in the room. Just run down and no attention to any detail.
- wendy (1/5): - Location and nice staff Dirty sheets floor bathroom
- Jeff (6/5): - Clean room
- Vicky (6/5): Vergane glorie - Het ontbijt was prima.
- Michael (7/5): - Clean quite and comfortable Had to get key reprogrammed every day
- Coleen (6/5): pleasant - comfortable and nice once we got up the stairs Wish room was on ground level. Going up the stairs as elderly people with back and leg problems with luggage was very hard. Will definitely inquire on next reservations at any motel if there is elevator or if we can get on ground floor
- Linda (10/5): - Such a fabulous room!! Bonus - we had a Jacuzzi and a balcony!!!!
- GLORIA (10/5): - and so accommodating. Very much appreciated the great service!
- Linda (8/5): -
- Gloria (8/5): - The room was very nice and clean and the bed comfortable. The breakfast eggs were cold but everything else was nice. Our toilet was running slow and backed up and we alerted staff who took care of it.
- Emerson (8/5): -
- Michelle (4/5): - Pool/hot tub was only maintained on weekends. Spent a week there with no room service.
- Sue (7/5): - The room was spacious, the air conditioning worked amazingly and a good selection for breakfast. Lack of an elevator . I have a bad back and lugging my stuff up the stairs was hard.
Also, the garbage in the main room wasn’t dumped.
- Daniel (2/5): - I can tell they didn’t change the sheets on one of the beds in our room and there is no elevator which is not ideal if you are traveling with luggage.Rude front desk staff Stay anywhere else but here we only did because everywhere else was sold out.I would have rather camped in my truck.
- Edward (8/5): Only complaint was key would not work on one of the rooms outside door - Breakfast was good
- Michele (8/5): - It was better on the inside than the outside! Older hotel, but kept up pretty good. Some areas smelled musty . Not an impressive breakfast.
- Doug (8/5): - Maid service was hit or miss. Got a decent restaurant right next door
- Tammy (8/5): -
- John (10/5): Clean and Spacious - No complaints, everyting was good. Loved the courtyard in the middle, the pool and hot tub were nice. The only issue we had was the key card did not always work trying to get in the building from the back door.
- Elizabeth (7/5): The room was clean and large however, the grounds and property did not seem well maintained. - Room was nice size After we arrived, we were told that our room was on the second floor and that they did not have an elevator. This was not communicated prior to arrival. In addition, the laundry room was below our room. When the washing machine was running, it caused vibration into our bathroom and toilet seat. This occurred as late as 11 PM. The doors to the outside would not latch or lock, although a card reader was at the door indicating that they were supposed to latch and lock and a card be used to enter.
- Paula (9/5): Superb - The location was easy to find and our room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was eonderful!! The hot tub area could use a little attention. Not sure if it needs paint, or a good cleaning.
- Brian (6/5): - The property is fine, just a little dated. There are outside doors and interior doors on the first floor, so good access in emergencies. The staff was very nice, and the hot breakfast was way more than expected, both which were great. The heavy doors slam hard when they are just let go, so a little noisy when folks are coming and going.
A decent property that needs upgrades with decor, quieter doors, and especially water pressure in the shower. We happen to hit a local festival, which limited our options, which is what led us to this property.
- Barbara (7/5): Both bad and good. Bad upstairs neighbors and great front desk people to help us. - Location was good. Decent breakfast, front desk service was very good. Breakfast lady was very nice. Stayed two nights, downstairs room. The place was full due to a girls softball tournament in town. I think they played a double header in the room above ours. EXTREMELY loud. I went to front desk and the young man was very good. It took two trips down there but they finally gave up the noise after that, it was around 1 am. He said he would move us but there were no open rooms. The next morning we talked to him again and they moved us up on the second floor. We were out until early afternoon and came back to our now new room and the room next to us was yelling and playing music. We stopped by the desk again, a very nice young lady was there and said we understand it is during the day and that we hoped that it would settle down by the time we got back that evening. It was so loud in the room I attempted to knock, then pound on the door but they couldn’t hear me. She said she knew who was in the room and she had control of it and it was not long before it was quiet again. The rest of the night was very quiet and peaceful.
The beds are so-so, they are on a metal frame over wood and they run together and squeak. The first room was so bad you just touch the bed and it made noise. Neither of us cared for the smaller individual pillows but that is just us.
I do want to say, the people working there were fantastic and tried very hard to make everything right. Even though I wanted to be upset, I couldn’t be with them.
- Baudewijn (8/5): Very good -
- Kelly (3/5): Disappointing - As a solo traveler, I felt unsafe. The extra door lock, the metal piece, was broken on the outside door. The soap was empty in the shower. The vending machine does not give change. The room had a bad damp smell. It was very noisy around 4AM. The cereal at breakfast was stale. A lot of small stuff that seems petty, but I was uncomfortable alerting staff to any of it after I went down to the front desk and alerted them that there was at least a dozen flies crawling on my bed and on the pillows when I arrived and was in turn was given a fly swatter and told it was the best they could do. I'm unsure why this place was rated well. I usually refrain from leaving poor reviews, but I want other solo female travelers to be aware of these issues before booking.
- Kimberly (10/5): - Lovely breakfast
- Charlene E (10/5): - Very friendly and attentive to our needs. That is why the five star. Breakfast was only maybe a 3. TV service needs to change to maybe streaming. Housekeeping was very good
- William (10/5): Exceptional -
- Moller (3/5): Poor -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great Breakfast!!
- Michael (6/5): - We stayed here while passing through it was a decent hotel, bathroom was decently clean beds were ok. It is a weird set up with two doors to the room, one to the inner walkway and one to the outside parking, it was convenient for getting things out of the car but the door safety latch was broken on that door and had not been fixed.
- Ordella (4/5): - We stayed 3 nights. Our room was never cleaned by housekeeping staff. We had to ask the front desk for clean towels. A lamp didn’t have a light bulb so of course didn’t work. The shower had long black hair in it-not just one or two-at least 10-12. Gross! And we were on the second floor and4 times our card keys wouldn’t work. We complained about all of these things and the man said “you booked using a 3rd party “. My husband said what difference does that make. No answer. Very disappointed.
- 736suzanneb (8/5): Nice overnight stay - Staff was friendly. Room was clean. Hotel appeared older than I had expected but everything in the room was fine. No disappointments. There’s a restaurant next to the hotel where we ate a good breakfast before starting out for the day. Would stay again if traveling through the area.
- Misty (4/5): - Expensive with NO amenities that you were not charged for, not even water or coffee. Parking was very limited and expensive if you want to park at the hotel.
- Richard (4/5): - You get what you pay for... Dated, old, lacking, bathroom fans not working, floor actually sloped more than the bed, and that bed sloped. Front desk people were indifferent, (almost like I was bothering them when I asked questions?) but the kitchen ladies were very nice. Breakfast was edible with limited options. The Holiday Inn was $50 more a night and is much better all the way around. If you are on a budget, fine stay here, if you can afford the extra I would go to Holiday Inn.
- Randy (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was fine the breakfast was great, staff is out standing they even let us check in early nice and clean 👌
- Lora (4/5): - The staff was trying, but the place is too run down. i would have to say avoid the place.
- Lynne (6/5): - We did not like the shower head.
- Catherine (6/5): - The first room we were assigned had a horrible smell-2nd room only smelled half as bad. The 3rd room was fine and we stayed there. The check in staff was apologetic and helpful in reassigning the room.
- robert (6/5): - Loud aircoditioner, no lights for the stairway
- Gilligan (7/5): Good - Staff was friendly Fridge freezer had something that had been in it for quite some time and we were unable to use it
- Tami (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (6/5): - The good. The bad. The ugly. The good. The hotel was clean The room was clean. The bad. We stay at Best Western bec even tho the price is higher the breakfast helps offset the cost. This breakfast was Lukewarm at beat. Eggs. Sausage. Biscuits and gravy all. Not very warm. The ugly. When we sat down to try and eat our not so warm breakfast we also found out there was no coffee. The jugs were empty and no one was around to tell they were empty. About a 1/2 hour went by before someone made coffee.
- MikeB1952 (8/5): OK Stay - The Best Western West Hills Inn is a typical modest chain property. Interestingly the room had doors to both the interior hall and outside. The room was spacious, but rather vanilla flavored with a king bed with bed tables and lamps, a writing desk with chair, an easy chair in the corner a credenza with mini-fridge and microwave. Unfortunately, the lock to hall didn’t work. Glad there was another door. Overall this worked fine.
Now to the breakfast. We appreciate that it's difficult to be creative and varied with a hotel-breakfast. The Hills Inn definitely had chain hotel food. The hotel has a big open area off lobby, not overly cozy. They had B&G, sausage patties, egg patties, yogurt, muffins, coffee and OJ. Was OK. Actually not as nice an experience as other chain hotels.
The experience here wasn't bad. Just bland.
- Brenda (8/5): - Comfortable & quiet
- jason (10/5): - Very quiet and safe location. Front desk and breakfast staff were very friendly. Rome was clean.
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Bradley (8/5): Good cost for a one-night stay. - To me, this was a standard low cost hotel. Nothing exceptional, but met all expectations. Daughter loved the pool.
- Misty (6/5): Pleasant - Hotel staff and facilities were great The guy who worked mornings of the 25 and 26th did not heat up the gravey for biscuits and gravey it was ice cold. And the group that was above us were very loud running and jumping down the halls and in their room. This went on for most of the night despite going to the front desk .
- Jason (7/5): Good -
- Matthew (8/5): - Very convenient to the college. Have used it many times for this prose.
- Lange (7/5): Booking.com ripped us off on the price. They charged over $200 but could have gottena room for $129 at the hotel - It was a convenient location. It wasn’t updated
