Guest Reviews
- Brenda (6/5): If you don’t have to go there, don’t go. It’s out in the desert. Nothing there crappy Town wouldn’t recommend it. - Really nothing had to stay there no else available California city is a sketchy place would not go back unless I have to
- Nicole (9/5): - Comfy beds and lovely friendly staff. I always enjoy staying here.
- Gailrose (10/5): -
- Aleksandrs (7/5): Fair price for stay - The bad was comfy and spacious. But this kind of feature you can expect in all hotels and even motels across US. The room with AC was a little bit outdated, but you cannot expect much in the location outside the big cities.

- Ana (10/5): It was good - Nice and clean Breakfast was a bit dry
- Ana (9/5): Great - It’s was nice and clean Lost my item and was reported missing and not found
- Barbara (10/5): -
- Ray (6/5): I still need a receipt - fair kind of sucked, the clerk said he couldn't give me a printed receipt. Said you would send me one in my email and you haven't
- Racine (7/5): Great location; I have family in town and this hotel is very convenient and clean and comfortable. - The breakfast was great. Lots of choices; hot; fresh. Dining area was very clean and well maintained. Breakfast attendant was very attentive and helpful.
I appreciate having the coffee/tea beverages available 24/7. With breakfast ending at 9 am, it was hard to make it before it closed up. Perhaps 10 am might be a better time to close it up.
- Tal (7/5): Ok but old and needs renovation - Very old, barely functioning Needs renovation
- Cynthia (6/5): - The staff are always very kind. The beds and pillows were not comfortable. The breakfast was not great and the second day it was not stocked due to short staffing issues.
- Saul (9/5): -
- Patrick (10/5): -
- Sara (3/5): - The location was convenient for our road trip The staff was not helpful and accommodating with some issues that we’ve faced.
Room is a bit too dark
- Rubén (10/5): -
- Bodo (8/5): - Good hotel for a night. Parking directly in front of the hotel, wifi working, beds comfy. The breakfast was highlighted by many other guests. I cant say that. It was cheap standard breakfast, absolutely nothing special.
- Yvonne (8/5): -
- Juan Carlos (10/5): -
- Tara (8/5): - This town was beyond helpful the rooms were clean and they went out of their way to make sure that I had a bathtub.
- Andra (6/5): - The hotel is fine, not pristine clean but clean for a three star hotel
The front desk when we checked in on Sunday in the evening, the gentleman was very nice, accommodating, friendly, helpful
The next morning I called down to the front desk and asked it was 9 o’clock asked if I could run down and get something and she said mostly everything was put away and if I didn’t come right away that I was out of luck
And then called me at 11:04 to ask me if I had checked out and checkout time was 11
And it wasn’t even so much that she did it and declined to let me come down and get some breakfast. It was her tone and how she said it.
So hit or miss on the staff
- Mark (10/5): - Great place. Comfortable, clean, safe, good breakfast. Awesome staff!
- Teresa (10/5): - Liked the breakfast offered, but close by dining options limited.
- Tracy (10/5): - ?
- William (10/5): - The young woman who handles the free breakfast is a gem. She's stoic but keep trying she will smile. She does a great job making sure the buffet is well stocked and the breakfast area well cleaned and organized.
- Christopher (2/5): - The bed was hard and uncomfortable the surrounding area was bleak and looked like a ghost town. No good restaurants at all in the area.
- Chris (4/5): - Only place in area. Should be $85, not $185.
- Suh (8/5): -
- Nicholas (10/5): - Helpful staff, room was clean and comfortable.
- William (10/5): - Great morning staff!
- Michael (10/5): -
- Ralf (8/5): -
- Susan (8/5): - It was great
- Prajakta (10/5): I’d highly recommend. - The staff was fantastic!!
- Nikki (10/5): -
- Jesse (10/5): - Very nice!
- Becky (8/5): Clean and adequate hotel in a small pass through town - Clean. Nice front desk person. Could use some updating
- Remy (6/5): - Friendly staff members, clean-fresh linens on the bed. The room's carpeting is very dingy. We stayed for 5 nights and every day, we spotted bugs inside the room -- on the wall, in the bathtub, and saw one actually trying to crawl inside the room immediately after I opened the door.
- santos (10/5): - People were great and professional thank you for a great stay
- Ana (10/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): - A bit weathered with time, but a terrific staff and a very ample breakfast buffet. A great value!
- Reginald (10/5): Exceptional - Makayla was the best at her buddies and making our stay the best we will definitely be staying more thank you for the love and the hospitality in.
- John (10/5): - Nice staff. Adequate accommodations.
- Mark (6/5): Pleasant -
- SIMONE (10/5): - Super nice staff. Breakfast was better than in most places. Rooms clean and quiet.
- Kristina (10/5): - Good stay for the area.
- Pennison (9/5): Superb -
- Monica (10/5): - Very clean and staff is really nice!
- Ormsby (8/5): It was good - Did not participate for breakfast. I think the only thing I can say is that the furniture was a bit beat up, and the place where they had was awful. It was hard to use the microwave. I would suggest a wall shelf for better access. The room was very clean and staff was friendly access into the building was limited to only one door. The other doors appeared to be in need of maintenance. My concern, that this could be a fire hazard
- Nancy (9/5): food ok location good comfy room - location comfy bed need better selection for variety of breakfast
- Gytis (8/5): Very good - Hotel is in a decent condition although of outdated signature BW design :) Pool was nice. I could not wrap my head around the town: has it already had it's best days or they are yet to come. But they ain't here as we speak for sure :) Although the place is not crowded or expensive for sure. Not much to see around.
- Luis (10/5): Great service - Staff members were very friendly and helpful definitely will be back there in the future.
- Rafal (9/5): Superb -
- Brian (10/5): - Clean and efficient service, great breakfast and the room was excellent.
- Katie (10/5): - The perfect hotel option for the local annual desert event! I'll never camp again! Thank you so much for the excellent service and the clean & comfortable room.
- Thomas (10/5): Perfect sound sleep excellent delicious breakfast felt extremely comfortable and secure in the facil - First and foremost I would like to say that morning staff and the evening staff are extremely friendly professional and we're happy to answer all questions with a smile breakfast was delicious very well prepared and clean and all the utilities and everything were perfect
- Bradly (10/5): - It was good
- akira (2/5): - Bad business practice. No refund.
- Ed (8/5): Review - The staff was excellent but the ice maker was
Not working so if you wanted ice you have to go
Upstairs we’re seniors so we didn’t have ice
Then breakfast the waffle machine machine didn’t
Work for our 3 days we stayed there
- Jelsma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eric (10/5): - The check in process was quick and efficient! The front desk staff was very friendly and professional!
- Jose (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect service
- Robert (3/5): Poor - Newer - Breakfast - Location The Low Battery alarms throughout the Hotel beeped for the last 3 days of our stay. When it started at 3 AM on the 28th it prevented us from falling back to sleep so we had a dangerous visit with our son who is an Airman at Edwards AFB because we were doing a lot of driving. We were told that since we had an On Line Booking that Best Western was not responsible, which seems like a stupid answer.
We would like as a minimum a free Week End at one of their Hotels, unless you have a better idea.
Please let us know within a day or so if you would.
Thanks!
- Quentin (8/5): Best in California City - I would say that would be the best hotel in California City which is clean and nice... but not much amenities to speak of. It's what it is =)
- Jonathan (10/5): - Great
- Thomas (10/5): - Great stay
- Philip (10/5): Beautiful place - They let us checked in earlier. We’ve been here lots of times and never disappointed us. Staff are very nice and the place was very clean. We love off roading and definitely we’ll continue stay here again.
- Hans (8/5): - Was a nice property for a stopover. Not many options in California city.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carlos (7/5): It was a value for your money - Close to camp grounds They are under staffed during breakfast time where things ran out
- James (8/5): - In the desert
- jane (6/5): - Hot at breakfast buffet at 8, they serve until ,9. No bacon,no waffleix,no bacon no pancakes just soggy eggs.
- Kennita (6/5): - It was ok
- Richard (8/5): Very good - All soap and other auto sensor amenities were not working .
- Darlene R (10/5): - Staff always friendly and accommodating. Free breakfast has everything you can imagine. Automatic front entrance doors a nice touch (literally), especially when you don't have enough hands for your luggage.
- Anke (8/5): Quiet overnight stay in the desert - Clean and quiet. Friendly Staff. Nothing was too much troible. Breakfast was a bit basic and bathroom was a bit dated.
- Pamela D (10/5): Happy with Cal City best western - We were very pleased, staff is very friendly and helpful, room was very clean and comfortable
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (3/5): Probably won't be back. - The breakfast was OK
It was pet friendly The shower pan had no step over. The bathroom floor flooded as a result.
- THERESA (8/5): - Nicest place within 30 miles
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb -
- Cindy (10/5): Dog friendly - Great hotel. We were there for a dog hunt test and they were very accommodating! They even made sure we all had breakfast available at 5:30 instead of their usually 6am. Nice staff. All was great.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Carolyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nancy (10/5): - Breakfast is a little on the light side.
- Leisa (9/5): Comfy and perfect - Great location
Big rooms
Friendly staff Nothing
- Ricard (3/5): Not confortable - The receptionist on the morning shift was very nice and helped us a lot when we needed to do our laundry. The person working the night shift lied to us when we asked for a change of room because the noise prevented us from getting even 1 hour of sleep. She said that the hotel was fully booked and we were later told that this was not the case. Changing a guest from one room to another takes 0 effort, it seems she just wanted to sleep (I assume that because it took about 1 minute to answer the phone.
- Michael (8/5): Definitely the best option for California City - by far. - For the area this is a very clean and modern hotel. The breakfast was nice and had everything we could want. The staff were so very helpful (the best part). There were some sketchy people there during our stay but we never felt unsafe. The clothing dryer was out of service at the time of our stay but I cannot really say too much bad about the hotel.
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Juan (10/5): Exceptional -
- George (8/5): - Look, California city sucks. There's nothing prestigious about it. But, if you're there and you need a place to stay? This place is solid. Its clean, its's quiet, the breakfast is good (they have meat), the staff are great and the rooms are a notch and a half over average. If you get lucky enough you can pick a pomegranate out of their bushes.
- Gains (10/5): I recommend this best western to anyone need a place to stay - The staff were very accommodating to our every need. Slept very well and the breakfast was also very good.
- Cheryl (10/5): - Walkin shower
