Guest Reviews
- Barbara (8/5): Relaxing - Breakfast excellent, choices were good. The coffee was delicious and piping hot.
Pancakes a treat out of the machine.
- Ponciano (8/5): We are comportable for a short stay. Must be nice if your outside garden are more upgraded . - Fair enough A bit more time like at least 10:00 am
- Kathryn (6/5): - It was good - the bed comfortable the pillows perfects. The staff friendly. The property itself was good - The reason I gave the price fair was because the capacity is low. The price was high for a Thursday and minimal bookings, without a pool. The hotel would be at capacity if the cost was reasonable.
- kennedy (10/5): - Everything
- Guest (9/5): -
- Grace (9/5): A pleasant experience. -
- Catherine (7/5): - The room was very comfortable and clean. The room was nice and spacious. The staff were not very friendly. We went out for a while, and when we came back, we greeted the person at the front desk, saying "hello", and the person just stared at us, not responding. Later we went out for the event we came to Fergus for, and we left the TV on, yet when we got back the TV was off. We didn't appreciate the fact that someone went into our room and turned the TV off.
- Karen (8/5): -
- DEBORAH (7/5): - Needed chair height toilets.
Had to pay extra to get in 2 hours earlier. Had a 3 o'clock wedding
- Tina (5/5): -
- Sandra (5/5): It was a fine place to stay for one night but I felt like we paid way too much - The hotel is dated and way over priced. Water pressure was not good.
The staff were friendly. Beds were comfortable.
They are a little aggressive with the need to collect breakfast vouchers. The price is way too high for this hotel
- Heather (4/5): - no hot water in the shower
- Helena (1/5): A nightmare - Whst your credit card or bank card
The best Western took the money out twice for the room plus a $200. Security
They told me they didnt take out twice I should them It was out twice
My bank is investigating it
They are a scam!!!
Almost a week and still didn't get my money back Didn't like the staff when I came in and got the room
Charge me twice

- Lorraine (7/5): The hotel was convenient. - The breakfast was pedestrian at best, but the Van Houtte coffee machine was a pleasant surprise. Pleasant staff member in the Breakfast Room. Reception excellent. Friendly. Helpful. No makeup mirror, noisy fridge, and although the hearing system was good it was very noisy.
- Gordon (7/5): -
- Denise MacGillivray (7/5): -
- Mike (1/5): Terrible and will never book here again. - N/A I made a complaint at 10:45pm to hotel staff because there was loud noise on the roof. Staff said there was no other rooms to move me, so I didn’t sleep all night. I will never book here again. I filed a formal complaint with Best Western and am requesting a full refund.
- Brent (10/5): Good place to stay - Clean and friendly Nothing
- Tristan (7/5): Fine for last minute booking but there are better options if you have time. - Very thin walls, can hear other room and every noise in the hallway. Bathroom shower is motel level.
- Hennie (7/5): -
- Sanaz (7/5): -
- Cassandra (2/5): - Elevator was broken. Room was dated. Bed uncomfortable. Breakfast awful - premade and reheated food. Very expensive for what we got. Will never return. I’m not a princess but for +$300 a night I would expect a 5* place - in Fergus of all places. Way too expensive.
- Rob (8/5): - Breakfast was quite pleasant and the attendant was cheerful and helpful.
- Samantha (8/5): Small very clean and comfortable hotel to stay for a few days while visiting the area - Very clean hotel with lovely attentive staff. The breakfast was basic but satisfying. It is nice and quiet. It’s on the outskirts of town so about 25min to town. No bath mat for the bath so the shower was a bit slippery getting in and out and the water pressure was not good in the shower.
- Nariza (10/5): - Everything is great the room the service we feel really comfortable
- Helen (6/5): - The room was clean but very gloomy and the TV got very few stations, very frustrating to navigate.
The breakfast was good.
- PAM (10/5): - It was all very welcoming
- Anne-Marie (2/5): - This is the 1st hotel that I have stayed in where you have to pay for a crib. We don’t pay for our beds, why do we have to pay for a bed for a baby?
The shower does not have much water pressure.
- Shelley (8/5): -
- Vicky (8/5): - Parking lot around hotel was pretty beat up, rooms smell a bit musty. Staff were very friendly and complimentary breakfast was good
- ann (7/5): Really pleasant and quiet. Lovely comfortable beds and clean and tidy rooms. Staff were friendly, helpful and pleasant. - It was clean and accessible, the access to the parking lot was not well signed if you turned in through the Burger King/petrol station. There was no clear signage to turn at the traffic lights, or clear directions from the “Sat nav” which made it a little confusing. The staff were pleasant and friendly. The rooms were clean and large. There is a small Keurig in the room, however, as a “Brit” I do miss a kettle. It’s nice to have a fridge in the room. The shower was not very powerful but did the job, but if you were up the same time as the majority of the rest of the guests the water wasn’t too warm. The breakfast that was included consisted of wedges, sausages and scrambled eggs. Tea and coffee, juices, and a small selection of breakfast cereals, yoghurts and pastries/muffins. Luckily, there is a Tim Hortons in the gas station in front of the hotel if you need anything more, and a Walmart across the road. The shower wasn’t too powerful and didn’t stay hot for too long. The breakfast could have been better.
- Madonna (8/5): - It was fine, over 200 a night for a very old room, dirty carpets, tiny bathroom, curtains that don't fit or cover windows, i stay there because there's no alternative for the area i want to be in .
- Steffen (10/5): -
- Lorna (7/5): Fine but not exceptional. Would expect more from a “Plus” organization. - Desk Staff very cheerful, helpful and generally professional.
Building very clean.
Beds comfortable A short person would almost fall off the toilet to reach the toilet paper
No tea in the room.
The cutlery in the breakfast room being metal would be 100% improvement
Should probably have a bar on the tub wall for security
- Philippe (8/5): -
- Laura (6/5): - The building is getting older and not the greatest upkeep. Surrounding the hotel is fast food and an unkept parking lot
- Andreas (8/5): Alles was man braucht war vorhanden - Gut gelegen Plastik Besteck und Teller beim Frühstück
- kai ming (4/5): - Worn out facilities
- Valarie (4/5): - There was little to none water pressure in the shower. The parking lot was all torn up and full of potholes the plants outside of the hotel were dead. The benches could definitely use a paint job or replaced completely would not recommend staying there.
- Michelle (8/5): - The hotel is located immediately behind a gas station. We weren't thrilled with the location, but otherwise everything was nice. It included breakfast, which had hot food, and the room was clean & very spacious.
- Renee (7/5): - Friendly clean location Breakfast could of had more choices
- Sietske (6/5): Te weinig personeel - Standaard kamer.
- Rob (8/5): -
- Gwen and David (9/5): Comfortable and clean room. Staff friendly and breakfast good. Location 8 minutes from games. - 8 minutes drive to Highland Games.
Clean , comfortable room and bathroom.
Breakfast good with scrambled eggs, bacon, potato wedges, toast, coffee (brewed one cup at a time).
Other options were vanilla coffee and hot chocolate.
Staff nice.
- Susan (5/5): It was a lot of money for an okay stay. - The breakfast attendanat was courteous and helpful. She was able to provide a gluten free option for bread but there was not a designated toaster to toast it. The menu selection was pretty standard - the eggs were lovely as was the bacon. The potatoes were dreadful The room was not especially clean. There were what appeared to be coccoons in the corner of the wall near the door. The bathroom tissue was almost out of reach from the toilet (I have long arms and am relatively agile - a shorter person or one with balance problems could have risked a fall trying to get bathroom tissue). The shower felt unsafe to my friend - she did not see the shower mat under the sink.
- Shannon (10/5): -
- Patricia (10/5): - very convenient location. small but nice
- Nancy (8/5): - We tried to book the hotel in Elora but they were full so we picked Fergus since it's only 15 mins drive to get to Elora. The hotel looks old in the exterior but looks pretty new in the interior including the room. Everything looks good, except the bathtub needs more attention.
- Hamzasm (10/5): - Overall my family and myself enjoyed the comfort of staying there for two nights
- Guide00901589935 (2/5): Disappointing Experience at Best Western Plus Fergus Hotel - We had a highly disappointing and uncomfortable stay at the Best Western Plus Fergus Hotel due to serious issues with the room facilities and poor customer service. Definitely not worth spending CAD 325+ plus taxes per night in Fergus.
While the location of the hotel is excellent—conveniently close to Elora and other local attractions in Fergus—the overall experience was far from satisfactory. Upon checking into our room, we discovered that the bathroom latch was broken, which compromised our privacy. We immediately reported this issue to the front desk. However, we were told that no maintenance staff were available in the evening and that it would be addressed the following day.
Unfortunately, no one followed up the next day until we raised the issue again. A housekeeping staff member eventually came to inspect the latch but failed to resolve the issue. We were informed that no alternative rooms were available due to full occupancy, so we had no choice but to continue our stay in the same room.
The lack of privacy forced us to use the public washrooms in the hotel lobby and even request access to the bathroom in the second room we had booked, which caused inconvenience and embarrassment for all of us. Despite our discomfort and multiple complaints, no compensation was offered.
To add to the frustration, during check-out, the hotel staff insisted on inspecting our room for damages—a step that makes one wonder why such inspections weren’t conducted after the previous guest’s departure. It raises concerns about whether the hotel was already aware of the broken latch and chose not to disclose it to us prior to check-in.
Another concerning aspect of our experience was the payment process. Although the reservation had already been charged to the credit card on file via Booking.com, we were required to pay the full amount again at check-in, with the explanation that the original charge would be refunded. This practice is both confusing and inconvenient, especially when guests are not allowed to check in until full payment is made again plus CAD 200 Deposit with no Room Service ( You need to go down to Front Desk to get any thing like extra sheet/towel )
We strongly advise future guests to thoroughly inspect their rooms before making any payments. If you value comfort, transparency, and peace of mind during your stay, we recommend considering alternative accommodations.
- Zakir (1/5): Had a horrible experience and uncomfortable stay with broken bathroom latches - The Location was good.Very close to Elora and other surrounding attractions in Fergus The facilities were bad. The Bathroom latch of our room was broken, and we could not lock it impacting privacy. We reported this to the front desk on the same day we checked in. They pushed it to next day stating there is no one available to fix it in evening hours. The next day, no one came, and we had to go to front desk again to have someone fix it. The house keeping staff came and looked at it, but no one fixed it. We had to stay in the same room as we have been told all rooms are booked and they didn't have any alternate rooms. When asked for compensation, no compensation was given to us. We had a very tough and disappointing experience during our stay. We had to go down to the main lobby and use the public washrooms due to the broken latch. We had 2 rooms, and we had to request the guests from the other room to use their bathrooms affecting their privacy causing embarrassment to us. When we were checking out, the Hotel staff went to check our room and evaluate the damages. Wondering why the same hotel staff didn't do these checks when the previous guest had checked out to check the damages to the bathroom latch or did the hotel staff knew about these damages and did not disclose it to us deliberately and had hidden it from us so that we can go ahead with the payment. Even though booking.com had taken the payment from my credit card on file, this hotel makes you do the complete payment again citing the credit card charged previously will be refunded back. Until you make the full payment again, you will not be able to check in the hotel ( No matter if previously you had been charged on the credit card on file ). Advise to everyone, please check the rooms before you make the payment if you still want to stay in this hotel else better find alternate hotels where you have peace of mind and where you stay will be pleasant and comfortable.
- Debbie (8/5): - The staff was very nice and the breakfast was very good.
The room had two queen size beds and the room was well cleaned.
- Philip (2/5): - Power cut early morning. No proceedure. No emergency lighting. No generator. No guidance dangerous Poor
- Alexander (2/5): -
- Bernice (10/5): -
- Joanne (8/5): - Clean room, somewhat worn carpet and some furniture was old and worn as well, but great bed and quiet night.
Good breakfast included.
- Bob (8/5): - Property has no pool.
First room we were given appeared clean but was very stinky.
We asked for another room and it also was stinky. It was a mouldy smell coming from the carpets.
We were unable to get any channels on the TV.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was excellent.
- Jessica (4/5): - This hotel Iacks in many ways, one being the updating of its rooms and facilities, everything is old and dark. The parking lot is all gravel. All together needs a major facelift.
- Sebastián (10/5): -
- cariaga (7/5): -
- Julie (10/5): - We had a wonderful time.
- BeanyExplorer (10/5): Perfect hotel for out night in Fergus - Huge room in a quiet area of town convenient 15 minute to the Brew House for dinner.
The room was huge, on the ground floor and suited our needs perfectly.
We didn’t use the facilities, but we did have breakfast and there was a good choice on offer.
Would happily stay here again.
- Banka (4/5): - One of us didn't have warm water during their shower. Front desk was called multiple times in attempt to remediate the situation. When we finally got a hold of someone we were told that they needed to reset their computer and turn on the warm water function to our room. We felt that was ludicrous as we never experienced this before and we hope this wasn't an intentional incident. Perhaps this was a just an unfortunate situation but its enough to steer us away from this hotel.
- Marcus (8/5): -
- Rufina (8/5): - Satisfactory N/A
- Tasha (5/5): - no cell service, lack of water pressure and it wasn't cleaned very well. My kids were playing on the floor and they found tiny beads which indicate the room was not vacuumed very well. The shower curtain was also dirty. I would have complained but I probably would have been told it was my fault just like I was told that about the cell service. It served its purpose for this particular trip but I'll never stay there again
- Wilfred (9/5): Great place to stay, at least for a short time. - Breakfast was EXCELLENT! Room had all amenities we needed. Entrance/exit to the road was awkward
- Ronald (8/5): - worn room/desk chair
- John (6/5): Not the best, Best Western that we have stayed at. - Usual clean standard expected from Best Western. Location, tucked in behind a Tim Hortons and a gas station.
Breakfast was O.K. But served on paper plates and plastic cutlery.
Obviously a cost cutting measure but not impressive for the guests.
- John (10/5): - We liked the location of the property and the helpful staff.
- Edward (4/5): - Breakfast options were not healthy, were limited, and were poorly presented.
- joshua (6/5): - Overall
- ThomasZ513 (2/5): Grossly overpriced property. - Not at all worth the expense. Breakfast is average at best, staff is unhelpful and argumentative (why should a guest have to justify asking for a spare room card)?? My family and I expected way more for the cost. With my Diamond Rewards status, our rate for a Sat night in June was $324 plus tax. I feel like a sucker for paying that.
- C. (7/5): -
- Tracy (9/5): Great value for a comfortable and clean hotel. - Breakfast was good. Lots of choice. Staff were very friendly.
- Andrew (8/5): - clean hotel and room, breakfast was good.
- scotthQ1367GB (2/5): Not a good place to stay - The room was in need of renovation. There was a very poorly serviced breakfast. The price was outrageous for the quality of the hotel. The room was not really as clean as it should have been. I don't think I would choose Best Western for a weekend away.
- Paul (10/5): - It doesn't look anything special on the outside, but inside, the hotel and rooms were excellent. The free breakfast was surprisingly good.
- Ayo Oluwa (6/5): - We had a nice time at the hotel. Everything was clean, nice complimentary breakfast although more options would be nice. We liked that the hotel was close to stores like walmart and dollarama
- Tendayi (8/5): -
I had a pleasant stay at the Best western Fergus hotel . The overall experience was positive — the room was comfortable and well-maintained. I was especially impressed by the continental breakfast ; it was fresh.
- Ingeborg (3/5): Würde ich nie mehr buchen. Preis Leistungsverhältnis sehr schlecht. - Freundliche Mitarbeiter. Ruhige Gegend. Das Ergebnis meiner Bewertung stammt von 3 Übernachtungen. Betten wurden nie gemacht. Keine Reinigung.
- OntarioTraveler9 (4/5): Not a satisfying stay - I was disappointed with our stay at the hotel in April.
Below are my issues:
I noticed a stain on the bed cover that looked like blood stain on one of the beds. The bed is too soft to my liking. I smelled cigarette smoke in the room and in the elevator. We got only about 3 pieces of tissue paper in the box. No writing paper or pen. The water pressure of the shower was weak. I found the lighting was not sufficient in the bedroom. The parking lot needs re-paving. I also found the breakfast unsatisfying with limited choices and greasy bacon. The toaster did not eject the toasts automatically.
- GR8SMYLS (10/5): Great Place to Stay In Fergus - I would highly recommend staying in this hotel when in Fergus. Rooms are clean, spacious and they have a large bar refrigerator, Keurig Coffee maker and Microwave, friendly staff and a well run place, plus the rate is very reasonable.
It’s a 7 to 10 minute drive to the old town Mil and it’s across from a Walmart, Liquor Store and restaurants.
- Michele (6/5): - convenient for our trip
- Mehta (4/5): Bad - No water in the room , charged 8 bucks just for 3 bottles
- CATHERINE (4/5): Would not choose this hotel again! Would not hook through a third party ever again! - Hotel was conveniently located.
Room was quiet.
Bed was comfortable. This room was not good value for the money.
Room had a pretty strong odour!
Room was expensive.
Breakfast was mediocre for the cost of the room.
Bedding was lacking. Top sheet was threadbare.
- George (8/5): -
- Jennifer (1/5): we left and found alternate place to stay. - Hotel is not worth the cost. It sadly does not look like the photos in the - needs to be upgraded and new carpets in the rooms. Location behind the gas station. it did not look like the photos in the web site.
- Ana Carolina (10/5): -
- Danielle (7/5): Comfy stay - Comfy beds, really nice staff, basic breakfast was pretty good Needs updating, pretty run down. Shower head was not working well and the plug for the tub didn’t work.
- Shawn (6/5): - Breakfast hours are weird 9:30 am is too early to cut off breakfast.
- Bernard (8/5): - Parking
- Don (7/5): -
- Cynthia (8/5): - Okay
- Troy (2/5): - We had a booking issue and the staff were unwilling to assist us in fixing it. We ended up being charged for 2 rooms when we had only booked one.
