- Pamela (7/5): Reasonable, the rooms need a little updating, breakfast really tasty. - The breakfast was good and tasty and the staff are very polite and efficient. The garden is quite charming and I'm sure very nice in good weather. The room was clean and easy to find. The mattress on the bed was a little soft and lumpy. The shower is not powerful and was quite dark compared with the rest of the bathroom, it could do with a light snd soap holder. We had an evening meal in the bar when we arrived the main meals are quite expensive for pub food.

Comfortable room in quiet location; good breakfast to start the day off well. at 80 years old I found it difficult using the Bath/shower and a normal shower would have been safer and more comfortable to use.

- GAYNOR (10/5): We would definitely come back and will do later in the year - We were greeted by some very friendly ladies, who looked after us and even made my meal to my liking as on a special diet. Staff in the hotel were lovely, morning breakfast was super real smoked salmon very tasty. More meal choices perhaps but there were starters as well, didn't have room for a dessert.

Breakfast very good as was all food albeit a limited dinner menu selection. The building is very old & a bit tired. Now in need of complete re-decoration. No covered way between pub & bedrooms. Thankfully we had glorious weather.

Quiet location and good breakfast. Restaurant was a little pricey, bathroom was beginning to look a bit tired, just some re-tiling needed but it would have made a significant difference.

Bathroom could have done with a shower screen or curtain and somewhere to hang the shower attachment. Blinds in room inadequate in keeping out light. Wi-fi code needs to displayed in room.

We had two evening meals which were excellent, and we particularly liked the balcony to our room It would have been nice to have had a defined parking space . - Julie (10/5): What a little hidden gem - Just come back from a nights stay here with my husband. The room was lovely, warm and clean. Very comfy bed! We had an evening meal in the pub, we both had a roast and it was the best we have ever had! The flavours were incredible. We had breakfast before departing and again it was very tasty. Only downside... its not closer to home! Can't fault anything! Nothing!

- Stephen (9/5): A honking good time! - I was staying locally as I was visiting the nearby superb Thursford music spectacular. Unfortunately by the time that I got back to the pub it had closed for the night which meant that I missed out on tasting some of the local beers. However, my room was very comfortable and breakfast the following morning was very good. What was brilliant was to have skein after skein of Pink-footed Geese flying overhead with their constant honking in the bright blue sky with the odd Buzzard and Red Kite putting in an appearance. I'm going to have to return again next year and spend a little longer in taking in all of the wonderful sights and sounds.

Breakfast needs to be updated to include heathier choices. There was no fresh fruit and granola with Yogurt and prunes was only offed one day. I'm sure if we had asked they would have accommodated but a little more choice available would be good!

We had an evening meal which was really good. Beer is good For us the rooms were really tired. There was no proper shower facilities. Just a shower hose off the bath taps, no shower curtain or screen. Window blinds were tatty. You can also hear the other rooms. Beds are also a bit tired.

The pub itself was great, friendly staff and a great atmosphere, plus excellent food. Ideally located on the north coast, it offers a lot. The only negative was not being able to have a shower.

Busy main road ( August, so what else), but rooms set quite well back so not noisy...apart from the restless weightlifter (?) in the room above us. Fair pricing overall. Room a little tired & bathroom needs working on. The shower was useless. Good hot water, but beware the taps ! ( have never seen such water pressure 💦 )

We had a balcony with patio furniture, which we were able to sit down and relax in. Breakfast was delicious 😋. Evening meals were very nice too. The room was very comfortable and clean. - Carolyn (7/5): Our one night stay was fine and we enjoyed the ambiance, food and staff in the pub - Excellent location for staying near family near Wells Next the Sea. Helpful and friendly staff. Very good food. Adequate car parking. Comfortable bed. Privacy of rooms in an enclosed garden at the back of the pub; very quiet despite being on a busy road. The room was very tired and in need of updating and decorating, especially the bathroom. A new shower head is urgently required. Smelt funny on entering room. The enclosed garden area needs some attention to make more pleasant to sit in.

Mis-matched and cracked tiles in bathroom, discoloured grouting, damaged mirror, inadequate shower bracket making it unuseable, dirty shelf and window surround, loose toilet seat. Drink splashes on walls, outdated furniture with several damaged areas, dirty tea tray. Holes in corners of duvet cover. Paintwork excessively damaged. The room needs a complete refurbishment and was not worth what we paid. Breakfast was lovely and staff friendly and helpful but the bedroom fell very short of what was advertised compared with what was available elsewhere for the same price.
