Guest Reviews
- Michael (10/5): - Yes it was really good
- Peter (8/5): - Welcoming and friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Good breakfasts (But no yogurts selections).
Room was good enough for what I needed. But, there is a bright LED street light outside the window that on all night. Makes it difficult to blackout the room, even with the blinds.
Parking is an issue due to no hotel parking. All local parking is either P&D or two-hour hours free on issued paper parking timers.
8am to 6pm.
Unless you find a free residential parking area around a 15-20 min walk away.
Overall, the stay was a good value for money trip.
- Neil (4/5): - The place looks nice from the outside but inside very dated, staff nice, breakfast nice bedroom very poor shower very poor I think still in the 80s, bed was OK, walls stairs and doors need renovating very poor or even a lick of paint.
- Linda (8/5): - Good breakfast, spacious room, nice staff. Easy on street parking.
- Edward (10/5): Warm welcome in the heart of Richmond. - Generally very good stay. Landlady made me feel at home and lent me a parking disc which gave me free parking until 10.00am the next morning.
Very nice cooked breakfast with cereal and proper coffee.
Only small issue was that the curtains let in more street lamp light than I'm used to. Blackout curtains would have been ideal.
- Paul (10/5): - Needs an upgrade
- Kevin (10/5): - A lovely proper pub with friendly staff and a superb breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely Hotel - Great accommodation, lovely little pub and beer garden.
Great breakfast served.
- Sam (10/5): - I have stayed here a number of times and have loved it every time. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, the inn's location is perfect and breakfast is delicious. A perfect place for a little getaway.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Room was a bit grim, place is run down. - I don't think place hasn't had a penny spent on it since the 80s if not the 70s. Enough said. Good location for parking and Richmond Town center, and nice beer garden, but wouldn't spend another £100 on staying here again for one night. Bar staff were lovely. Breakfast was tasteless.
- Joanne (10/5): What more could you want? - Nice room, comfortable beds and lovely crisp white quality bedding. Breakfast was great, plentiful and well cooked. Very welcoming hosts, a perfect overnight stop. Thank you
- Kathleen (2/5): - We didn't stay at this hotel because we were lead to believe that parking was included but it was only for two hours then car had to be moved to paying car park then moved again at 6pm till 8am. Husband has difficulty walking so it wasn't convenient.
- Dennis (8/5): Great value Inn style accommodation - Friendly helpful and welcoming. Room a decent size and clean. Nice views over Castle. Nice cooked breakfast and was overall good value for money accommodation close to Richmond centre
- Derek (8/5): Nice hotel in Richmond - Good value hotel in the heart of Richmond. Friendly staff, spacious bedrooms, nice breakfasts and plenty of different rooms to enjoy a drink and meal.
- Christian (10/5): - Stayed at the Buck few times & will happily stay again, great stay in the very pleasant location of Richmond
- STEVEN (6/5): BANG FOR YOUR BUCK - VALUE FOR MONEY ONE NIGHT STAY, PLACE IS A LITTLE TIED AND DATEDBUT CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE ENOUGH FOR US.
- Mrs F M (8/5): - A lovely stay, we were made very welcome. Our breakfast was cooked well and the staff seemed very nice. Sadly our bedroom floor hadn't been hoovered and the bathrooms were nosey when we switched the lights on.
- Graeme (8/5): Good stay at the Buck - A good stay , room was clean and comfortable with excellent breakfast. Service was excellent with very friendly staff. Unfortunately didn’t do evening meals but sister hotel nearby was very good for an evening meal
- Dawn (10/5): - Lovely find, 2 minute walk to centre, quiet, clean. Lovely breakfast. Would stay again
- Kathryn (10/5): Great friendly stay - Great welcome, very friendly..
Excellent location near to market square.
Pub garden
Excellent breakfast
- Barry (8/5): - Room very spacious but needed a little updating.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
- David (6/5): - The room although ok could really do with some improvements. We suggested most of them to the B&B when we last stayed in the same room 2 years ago and there has been a decline in standards since then rather than the other way around. The pub has also stopped serving food after breakfast which was a massive disappointment. Despite great location, I cannot see us booking here again. If the owners would like some specific pointers we would be happy to help. We didn't discuss with them as they had a very busy weekend planning and running some lovely functions.
- Anthony (10/5): Coast to coast walk - Great place to stay in the center of Richmond, great staff and breakfast day 8 of C2c
- Andrew (10/5): - Arrived at the pub and greeted with a smile by a pleasant male member of staff. Room spacious adequate bathroom. Slept like a log. Great breakfast. Very much value for money. Would recommend
- Peter (6/5): - Room was dated, but clean. Light above sink didn’t work and wasn’t repaired when asked. Staff were very friendly and there was a good atmosphere in the evenings. Breakfast was delicious, with a choice of cereals too. Would stay again. Dog friendly.
- Sarah (10/5): - The staff were lovely and welcoming. The room was large and clean and breakfast was lovely. Definitely recommend
- Lesley (8/5): - Really good stay, excellent location, brilliant breakfast, can’t fault anything.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Central B&B - We required an overnight stop to break up our journey. We chose the Buck due to the information, photos and feedback given on Hotels.com app. Unfortunately the kitchen wasn't open the night we stayed and the road was being dug up right outside with work commencing at 7.30am. The rooms are a little tired with the curtains requiring attention to cover the window. That's all the negative bits out of the way.
The best bits were the beds were comfortable, the breakfast was fabulous and the shower was good. The Buck is within walking distance of other eating establishments so we were able to find somewhere else to have our evening meal. Parking permit supplied so we could park on the street. Staff were all friendly.
- Ann (8/5): - Easy access for motorway in a quiet location. Good breakfast, freshly made.
- Robert (8/5): - Great place to stay friendly and helpful staff excellent value for money
- Duncan (8/5): Basic but comfortable - Basic but comfortable and clean. I am not a fan of a double bed against a wall, so you can only get in one side. Awkward for a couple who both need to get in and out during the night. But i understand why they do it, so they can fit another bed in
- Christopher (10/5): - We in upstairs room nice view clean had a good breakfast would go back again 😀
- Ronald (10/5): Brilliant - Room was spotless and breakfast was lovely.
- Sharon (8/5): - Great location very central, room was big and comfortable there were a few things but with an old building I suppose that's normal. Loads of stairs to room and the shower ran hot and cold but overall a great place. I have to say the breakfast was lovely sitting in the window seat looking over hills and Richmond Castle.
- Alan (8/5): Wigan couple. - 3 night stay. Had to take dog into street for poo and wee. Carpet badly stained from previous guests' dogs - should be laminated. Parking was 10 min. walk away. Host / staff very friendly, breakfast excellent. Would come again without our dog and in a different room.
- Neil (8/5): - Great staff very friendly and helpful, brilliant location
- Christa (10/5): Very pleasant - This pub was a great find. We will be back
- Don (8/5): Great view - The accommodation is above the pub and is accessed via either 1 or 2 steep staircases depending on the room. Our room was at the top of the house. It was a fair size with a double bed, a wash basin and a small shower and toilet room. There was a small window which afforded an amazing view all over the town towards the castle. The rooms were clean an on the whole comfortable although the bed was rather bouncy and too soft, but we slept well. The breakfast in the morning was lovely and set us up well for the new day. We would recommend this property for anyone looking to stay in this area.
- dawn (8/5): - Okay place
Could be slightly updated but alright
Good breakfast
- Claire (10/5): - Couldn't ask for a nicer stay people so so friendly went out of there way to make you feel welcome,
Room was great double bed very comfortable, single not so much very noisy when moved but a child would be fine in it, wouldn't stop me from staying again, breakfast was fab as was the service overall great stay in a lovely town thank you
- D R W (10/5): Great pub and B&B - perfect in every way - We stayed at the Buck Inn on our way to Scotland to break the journey. Parked right outside the pub, and checked in. Very helpful lady provided parking permit and we were given room #0 , large room with en suite looking out to the cobbled street. Comfy bed, delicious breakfast. Perfect.
- Robert (8/5): - the room is good wifi good its clean and tidy the staff and breakfast very good the only down side was the shower kept going cold then too hot then a trickle of water i did ask owner about this and she said they are looking into this but still a very enjoyable stay
Rob
- Vivian (8/5): No problems.. - Stay very good. Helpful staff, food excellent. However hotel is very old and in need of full refurbishment to bring it up to a modern standard.
- Michael (10/5): great hidden gem - What a little gem view from room great , room clean and tidy and the service great too . The staff couldn’t help enough as for breakfast wow!!!! Thank you all at the buck well done . Also very strict on all COVID precautions masks , sanitizers etc thank you for a great safe stay .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, comfortable friendly pub,
- Mark (8/5): - Good parking outside. Quite basic but clean. Close to everything. If you're looking for the Ritz pay Ritz prices. Decent budget B and B.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Ticks the boxes for everything you need - Pleasantly surprised by the hotel as it is primarily a pub.
It was clean, the staff were friendly and there was a hearty breakast in the morning
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is my second time staying in The Buck. My reason for going to Richmond has now passed, so sadly, it is unlikely I will be returning to Richmond. The staff were always helpful and polite. It has been done up since I last stayed there around 4 years ago. The Ritz it isn't, but it is good, honest value for what you pay. Always an excellent pint, at a good price. Breakfast was good and hearty. I would have no problem recommending it to anyone. If you are a serving or former member of the Forces, try the Comrades Club across the road, and help support our Veterans.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very old but cosy hotel, beds were comfy and staff very welcoming.
Breakfast was amazing and cater for all needs.
Child was welcome in the pub for us to have a drink and plenty for them to do.
Nothing I hated I will stay here again.
- jacqueline (10/5): Highly recommended - get yourself there!! - Fab hosts and staff
Relaxed atmosphere
Great quality flood at fab prices
Pet friendly
Good sized rooms with really comfortable beds
Highly recommended
- NanaP (6/5): Well located with friendly staff - Disappointed that the building was covered in scaffolding so not a good look. Inside a bit tired and dated, room up two flights of stairs that were steep and a bit uneven. The room was clean but dated electric socket hanging off wall however bed was new and very comfortable. The pub did not serve food but was well located with plenty of places to eat nearby.
- Oxana (10/5): Great little hotel - The location of the hotel was great right in the middle of the charming town . The room was clean and cosy . We had a picturesque castle view from our room. Good service and an excellent tasty breakfast. Would recommend this hotel.
- Catherine (6/5): Hotel very close to the town centre - Hotel very close to the town centre so very convenient for what little Richmond has to offer. Room spacious with very nice bathroom, all very clean and nicely presented. It overlooked the front of the hotel above the front door which slammed hard each time someone left. Juke box played on until almost midnight the first night but stopped earlier on the second. I found it very noisy but it is a pub!
Staff very pleasant, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast okay.
- Alexander (8/5): ok place - Lovely pub / hotel, comfy large room, Bar area good, unfortunately when I went for dinner was told kitchen was closed Wednesday nights. Wifi was slow
- David (8/5): Richmond overnight for the theatre. - Good traditional pub and hotel, used by visitors and locals. Good-sized room, all clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely weekend stay with our family. Made to feel very welcome. And we won the weekly pub quiz!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Stayed for 2 nights - Really enjoyed my stay here staff friendly and very helpful. My room was on the front over looking a beautiful street. Breakfast was very nice.
- Martin (8/5): Good local pub - Good honest pub with B&B, under new management, good ales, good food, friendly staff, I'll stay there again
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fabulous stay - Paul and Fiona were very welcoming. The Buck had a homely feel. Room had clean fresh towels every day. The breakfast was superb.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice and central. Staff obliging and friendly. - Querky hotel. Nice weekend break ideally situated so we didn't need to drive anywhere. Close to good assortment of eateries and entertainment.
The hotel itself nedds a bit of TLC but its an old building which gives it its character.
- JB (4/5): Cheap stay - This hotel is very cheap! The rooms ar run down and need some work. Staff are very helpfull and the breakfast is good. Its not the Savoy its a cheap night in a nice town.
- DAZ (2/5): IT WAS LIKE FAULTY TOWERS - GLAD IT WAS ONLY ONE NIGHT IF IT WAS MORE NIGHT WE WOULD HAVE COME HOME [ THE INTERNET LOOKED SO GOOD ]
- Yvonne (2/5): Worst hotel we have veered stayed in! - Worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Noise from pub below our room kept us awake until very late. Room dirty, towels literally in shreds, mattress too small for metal bedstead. When turning on taps the noise from water tank overhead sounded like a motor bike in room. There was a general lack of interest when we checked in and reception area very scruffy and untidy. A pity as Richmond is a very pretty village but this hotel is a disgrace!
