- Kaido (9/5): Kõik oli suurepärane. Soovitame kindlasti külastada. - Giidi teenus suurepärane. Korraldati kohapeal vaatamisväärsuste külastamisi.Hommikusöök oli väga hea. Asukoht ka rahulikus piirkonnas. Teenindus oli ülihea.
- René (10/5): - Empfehlenswert. Superliebes Personal
- Andreas (10/5): Awesome stay for both me and my partner - Professional friendly and helpful staff. This property was immaculately cleaned and our needs were carefully tended to by management. I would highly recommend a stay in Bagan and this hotel. I found it difficult to find any fault in this property.
- Ivan (10/5): Nice hotel choice in the New Bagan with excellent Staff. - Nice and typical Myanmar style Hotel in the new part of Bagan. Facility is well maintained with good restaurant and excellent staff. Positive attitude aways is bringing positive emotions. The Staff really is pushing the borders to bring you peaceful and joyful stay. Recommended location outside of crowded downtown especially is you are traveling with a car.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property has potential but is quite outdated and is extremely cold during the night.
- John (10/5): Gem of a Hotel - Beautiful hotel. Most welcoming place I have stayed at in many years of world wide travel thanks to the owner/manager Ms. Wa Wa (sorry if the spelling is incorrect). She greets you on arrival and sends you off with her warm and beautiful smile upon departure (even at an early hour of the morning). Special acknowledgment also to the restaurant manager. The entire staff are most courteous and friendly.
Each room is set up as a bungalow with a balcony. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The bathrooms are somewhat outdated but no problem as everything works fine. Plenty of hot water for the shower/tub combination. Wifi was excellent. The pool is large and well maintained as is the entire hotel complex. The breakfast buffet is good.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again if my travels bring me back to Bagan.
- Anasuya (10/5): Nice pool - We stayed two nights and it was a relaxing stay with a welcome pool. The wait staff was very attentive in the dining hall and gave us lots of coffee. The breakfast buffet was good.
- Christel (8/5): Charming and affordable - Very comfortable and clean hotel. Brand new swimming pool. Charming cottages. Friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Helpful and cheerful staffs. They remain at our disposal from early morning until dark. Everywhere is clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely hotel. Each room is a separate bungalow with a balcony. The room is huge with a large bathroom and a tub. The pool is a nice addition. But the best thing about this hotel is the staff, and especially Wawa. We arrived early in the morning and they had the room ready for us. They helped us with the bus ticket and with other things as well. It is far from the center but that’s an advantage, because it’s quiet. It is possible to walk to the village which is nearby. Anywhere else you need a ride anyway, so it doesn’t really matter.
- KevinTan (10/5): - Good locality. Near new Bagan. Facilities arranged by hotel staffs like ebike. Van pickup are wonderful. Personal attention provide by manager Ms Wahwah are incredible. Bfast are average reasonable. Will be back.
- George (10/5): Nice hotel to stay. - Very friendly and well trained staffs, room are large and cleaning, garden is well managed, hotel room is very quite for relax.
- B Tuyet (8/5): - Imagine 30+ units scattered in a large and lovingly tended garden, very comfortable beds with excellent linen, and a standard of service rarely found anywhere at a mid-range establishment. During our three night stay early in 2018, my wife and I had the feeling that we were welcome visitors to a friend’s home – the sort of friend who’ll make sure you get good support from your electric bike rental place when the batteries died, and who’ll get up at four a.m. to send you on to the Mandalay boat with a breakfast box in hand.
Yes, the Ruby True’s cottages could use a face-lift; in particular we older folks would appreciate better lighting and brighter walls. The shower head and controls could be updated with individually adjustable apparatus, and there could be more hooks and a larger tray or shelf to hold bathroom gear. The wi-fi signal is strongest near the office and dining room; we suppose there are ways to enhance the signal elsewhere on the property.
We were told that the Ruby True has a new owner who’s planning to renovate. If this is so, pray that the work is done thoughtfully, with care to preserve what makes this inn so delightfully retro.
- Matthew (8/5): Fantastic base to explore the delights of Bagan - Ruby True is based within New Bagan and is a little far from some of the main sites in Old Bagan. However, as it is likely that you will be using an eBike or cycle this is not really an issue and the peace and quiet of the area is welcome. The hotel is an excellent spot to explore Bagan. the staff are supper friendly and can arrange bike, eBike, Tuk Tuk and various other services to help you see the pagodas and temples. Facilities are very good with nice clean rooms and good showers. Breakfast is excellent and Ms Wah Wah is probably one of the friendliest people you will meet. The hotel really places a heavy emphasis on customer service and support and I would recommend this as a good base to explore a fascinating area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): At Ruby True, War War makes everything happen - We had a lovely stay at Ruby True, at a quiet edge of New Bagan, near many monuments. War War, the manager, took us by the arm upon arrival and throughout our stay, at any hour, made every request reality, whether we needed a superb guide, a tuktuk or taxi at any hour, a teapot, or an ebike. She is a fantastic manager. The cottages are old world charming, and everyone on staff is kind and helpful.
- David (10/5): Very Nice Stay - This hotel was more than we expected. The room was clean and spacious. I and my wife really love the hotel manager Wah Wah and the staff. They were extremely helpful.
We suggest the cultural show during dinner in Amata (from 7:15 pm to 8:30 pm). Great experience.
For the restaurant, try The Moon. Excellent food.
e-bikes can be rent and it is very useful to travel around. It could be difficult for some to ride.
Hot-air balloon ride is also a great experience.
The manager arranged a boat for only two of us to watch the sun set in Irrawaddy river near Bagan. It costs around 12 US$ for the whole trip and we feel very special. Amazing experience.
Strongly recommended.
We will stay in this hotel again.
- David (10/5): Feeling at home in Bagan,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, - I have not words to express my gratitude to the hotel manager Ms. Wah Wah, I still miss her a lot., What a such nice person very sweet, and friendly. She all members of the hotel staff made me feel atl at home immediately. The hotel is great, the location amazing, if you want to move, you just need
to rent a motorbike. The hotel is lovely and quiet a place to relax after visiting all the temples. I will go back with my 2 daughters next summer. One thing I want to mention about Wah Wah, she prepared for me breakfast to go, and she was waiting for me at 4 am at the main lobby when I was waiting for the OK bus on my route to Mandalay. Thanks so much to you and all the staffs people at the hotel. AMAZING STAY
- paul b. (2/5): AVOID - Our room did not resemble the photos on line and the bathroom looked like an old totally unmaintained 1959’s motel. We are not fussy and not snobs but that place was rough. We left after 15 minutes and let them keep our 3 days payment.
- Alexander (10/5): Lovely cottages, amazing service, great food! - My wife and I stayed at Ruby True hotel for 3 nights during our trip to Bagan. We arrived a little before lunch after taking the train from Yangon and they allowed us an early check-in, which was nice and convenient for us. The hotel rooms are quaint cottage-style rooms with thatched wooden walls. The grounds of the hotel are really beautiful and tranquil.
Service at the hotel is amazing, we were immediately welcomed by the hotel manager/owner Wawa, who is so friendly and helpful about everything. We actually ate all of our meals in Bagan at the Ruby True restaurant because we were tired after visiting so many temples in the sun, and because the food is really excellent! Highlights were the various curries and tom yum gom soup. Prices at the hotel restaurant are also really good. The location is in New Bagan, as with most hotels in the area, so transportation by driver or ebike is recommended to visit the temples.
One recommendation to travelers to Myanmar and SE Asia generally - bring a mosquito net for your bed! There were a bunch of mosquitos around that got into the room at times but we had no problem with it and got no bites because we hung a mosquito net. As mosquitos in Myanmar can sometimes carry diseases like Zika or even malaria, take care to protect yourself and don't expect hotels to provide nets, they generally do not!
Overall we had a great stay and would highly recommend Ruby True but again reminding visitors - Bring your own mosquito net!
- Brian (10/5): - Amazing staff and service level. Great breakfasts quiet location beautiful grounds. Facility is older but well maintained
- Barbara (10/5): comfortable and friendly - I found the staff helpful and the room comfortable. There is a little veranda outside each room and meals are served in a pleasant garden. All services are available.
- Daniel (8/5): - It was great. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is nice. The bedroom and shower is OK. It is what it is. It is what you pay for.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Ruby True is part of the great experience!! - Ruby True was a fantastic place to stay. Very clean rooms, quiet and it was great to sit on the balcony in the evenings and just enjoy a bit of peace. If you are going there thinking you will get 5 star luxury then this is not the place for you. Rooms are basic and dated (which add to the charm) and water pressure is not great, but you have a peaceful location that is clean. I would recommend they update the bathrooms though. Staff are fantastic, breakfast was a set meal and very tasty, wah wah and her staff were extremely helpful and nothing was ever too much. They will help you with anything that you need. I liked the fact we were away from the shops and restaurants especially after a busy day sight seeing. However, there are great restaurants only 10-15 mins walk away. I got an e-bike that wah wah sorted out for me. I recommend getting the newer ones that they can get you from across the road as the wheels have a lot more grip. The road coming into the property is very dusty and I really struggled on the old e-bikes. They also organised a taxi for me and this was absolutely brilliant as I did not have to worry about not falling off the e-bike. The drivers name was 'ozil' (this is how he pronounced it). He took me all over and showed me some great places and explained some of the history. All in all a magical trip and Ruby True Hotel added to the experience!
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Lovely garden setting, nice people and very clean and comfortable bed
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great staff - The good staff is fantastic and will do whatever it takes to make you happy. Rooms are large with eccentric ac and amenities. Restaurant was great with low prices and good food.
Not so good. Beds in this part of world are hard. Like sleeping on floor. Shower can use update. No spa or pool.
Overall staff is so friendly I would recommend but bring something to sleep on.
- Edward (10/5): - The owner/manager of this hotel is very attentive and bent over backwards to ensure that we had a fantastic stay. She even awoke at 4:45AM to give us breakfast to go because we were leaving at 5AM. She is very kind and truly understands customer service. The hotel is clean and quiet.
- wayne (10/5): Bagan experience - The manager of this howl WahWah made our stay at this hotel memorable as did all of the other staff employed. The level of service she provided was above and beyond expectations. WahWah managed to assist us with return travel to Kampalte as well as obtains the names of places we could stay. In addition to this she communicated with the hotel we were heading for to advise them of what we were liking to do whilst there. You could not have asked for more! The hotel is a short easy walk away from central New Bagan with lots of small village roads to choose from to walk along, we loved our stay at this hotel
- myanmar guest (8/5): Amazing and attentive staff. - A lovely smaller hotel off the beaten path. The staff was always nearby with a warm smile and a willingness to help
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful hotel in New Bagan - Fantastic stay! The room was comfortable and spacious. The staff were incredibly friendly and more than happy to help with airport transfers and renting of e-bikes. Breakfast was great!
- David (10/5): - Beautiful area, great price and wonderful staff!
- Luis MJ (10/5): Nice hotel very useful staff - Our stay at this hotel was very pleasant. The staff in particular were great. They were very friendly and also very very helpful. They helped us organize everything we needed, making our trip very easy. The hotel is slightly further away from town than most and the facilities are starting to look slightly old but overall I would highly recommend it.
- Jos (10/5): Excellent Mid-range Hotel in New Bagan - Ruby True Hotel is a great place to stay while in Bagan. Spacious, clean rooms with everything you need (AC, fridge, hot shower, Wifi,...), as shown on the pictures on the web. Great garden to relax and have breakfast/dinner. Staff are EXTREMELY friendly and helpful (e.g. getting you a bike or electric scooter (called e-bike) or horse cart or taxi). Breakfast is good, with every day another noodle soup (apart from eggs made to order, pancakes, fruits etc etc). It is located on the outskirts of New Bagan, but you can easily walk or bike to the New Bagan. Old Bagan is 20 (?) minutes away by bicycle.
- Furui (8/5): Comfortable base to relax after temple exploring - With the growing list of hotel options to Bagan, I didn't know which to pick. I'm so glad I chose Ruby True! What makes this place special is the staff. They are very personable and friendly. Based on this fact alone, I'd go back here! Even though this hotel doesn't have the extras of a fancy four/five star hotel, (you know, gym, pool, etc.), this might be overkill after spending so much time outside. I was able to have a restful sleep after a long day of temple exploring. The food was tasty and reasonable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): You feel like a valued guest - Best feature was the helpful attentive staff and the manager Wawa, who took care of us like a mother.
Located at the edge of New Bagan, some distance from most of the sights, however Wawa ordered a horse and carriage to collect us on one day, and organised e-bikes on another, so distance was no problem.
Decor was a little dated and rooms rather dark but the warmth of the welcome made up for this.
- Bob (10/5): Special place with great character - Bagan was a wonderful place to visit and this hotel added to it. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. The best part was that we did not have to ask; the type of information we needed and anything that could be done to facilitate our visit was offered.
- Shan (10/5): Chalet style hotel
- From the Manageress to the Bell boys they made our stay very enjoyable & homely.
The staff went out of their way to please us, and meet our needs.
Will strongly recommend this hotel.
- Chris (10/5): Good hotel, excellent service - Very helpful staff and owner and area felt a more genuine part of Bagan to stay in :)
- Gregor (10/5): Lovely oasis in the middle of nowhere - The place is incredible value for money. Apart from the large, comfortable rooms at a great price, the staff is what is making this place a home away from home. We had the kindest host that organised everything for us. Motorbike the first day? No problem. You want a longyi? I send my staff, you get a better price. Broken shorts? Already fixed. Late checkout? Well the room is available anyway :)
It was such a pleasure staying here, we will always come back.
- Julian (10/5): Best hotel experience in Myanmar. - The best hotel experience I had in Myanmar. I went in September (low season) so I was the only one there! Very tasty breakfast included, spacious rooms that are detatched from the main building, which means you have a nice little porch with a chair you can relax on in the evenings. Nice working AC in the bedroom, en suite bathroom was clean and fully working too. The hotel manager (Wah Wah) is one of the nicest and most charming women I have ever met! She helped me book an evening bus to Thazi, helped me with on-site E-Bike rental, let me have a shower and clean up hours after I had checked out (since I was exploring Bagan for the day). Amazing. Quiet location too, but not far from the restaurants or pagodas (as long as you have an E-Bike!). I'd recommend this place to anyone.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel staff were super friendly and helpful, I enjoy my stay here, thank you Wawa for helping me to arrange everything during my stay.
- Daniel (10/5): Oasis of calm in Bagan - Set in a chilled garden setting, feeling quite tropical - It was all the little touches that made the difference here. Wah Wah (the manager) couldn't do enough to make you feel more welcome. Think of this as your home, she tells you when you arrive. After having cruised around on e-bikes in the dusty heat all day, there's nothing better than arriving back home to me given some nice cold towels to wipe all that dirt off your face.
The room was a good size, comfortable and the aircon worked really well. WiFi was typically Burmese, worked OK during the day but much better early morning / late at night.
There's some great little restaurants about a 10-15 minute walk away in New Bagan, the pick of the bunch for us being Mar Lar Thein. If you have an e-bike and head out then definitely check out San Thi Dar too!
- alan (10/5): Ruby True - the best hotel in Burma - My 3-day stay at Ruby True was the best of any other stays while in Burma. The staff are very accommodating, helpful, and friendly, especially Miss Wawa (Sawa). Kudos to the whole group. The hotel restaurant is OK, though half their menu was not available when I was staying there. The hotel is located on the far east side of Nyaung U (just as you enter Nyaung U from the airport road), so there is not a lot going on in the near area. Great e-bike rentals just up the street at well.
- Sonia (10/5): Outstanding service! - Nice chalet room set in beautiful gardens. Great breakfast laid out in the garden one day was lovely. But the best thing was the staff, outstanding service and the best in Myanmar that we experienced. Can't thank the manager enough for helping us trace my husbands lost insulin back to the bus we arrived on and even did a 16km round trip to the bus station to pick it up for us. Literally saved his life!
- kelly (10/5): Memorable Stay - i loved this hotel stay, so i'm ranking it at the highest levels because of the value overall and how wonderful the service was. the manager, Wawa, was so unforgettable and she was so wonderfully kind and fabulous throughout our whole stay. i will never forget her and her genuine kindness! she made sure we had everything we needed, and always had our E-bikes ready, and whatever else we asked for. it felt like we were home and our family was taking care of us. the rooms are great and the a/c was great. the bathroom has a seperate tub/shower so the floor doesn't get wet everytime you shower. the beds were fine and the room large. the breakfast on the lawn was charming and delicious. the hotel is on the far end of new bagan, but with e-bike rentals it was a short jaunt anywhere in the area. i will always remember Wawa and this stay in Bagan!
- ElliBelly (10/5): A true oasis - Comfortable, clean, very helpful staff, beautiful gardens, breakfast on the lawn.
Could do with a spot more maintanence :-)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very lovely hotel and warm service, excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel - The service was great, with true heart to each guest !!
- hemant (6/5): Wonderful service - This is a small hotel in New Bagan. It was basic really but the room was a good size and clean. The owner/manager called Whoa (means yellow in Burmese) was wonderful. We arrived very early 8am but they made the room available for us. Nothing was too much trouble and all the staff were very friendly and helpful
- James (8/5): Lovely place - The staff were very helpful, helping with ebike and bus tickets.
I would really recommend staying here. There are 'top range' resorts near by but Ruby True is perfect for a few nights in Bagan.
- M (10/5): Extended stay. - Extended our stay as the place and the area was so good. We were pleased we did!
- Elizabeth (10/5): Why stay anywhere else? - Wonderful place. The staff led and managed by the energetic, funny and wonderful WA WA could not have done more. The room was great and although of simple construction had air con, tea making facilities, fridge, terrace etc. What more could you want?
Breakfast was plentiful and an experience with everything from omelette to cauliflower available!
The hotel is in by far the best part of town. Quiet and away from the slightly backpacker type main streets.
We stayed five nights and went out on the fantastic e-bikes every day for hours. We saw no where else better.
Great place and by Myanmar standards very good value for money
- Steve (10/5): Great place to rest after sightseeing - I spent four days touring Bagan. The hotel was a great value for the money. I found the room size to be more than what I expected for the price. I found the staff incredibly polite and the owner was always available and asked daily if there was anything she could do to help. The Internet works best in the hotel lobby and dining room, which was always open and very comfortable to work within. Each day after a tour of the Bagan area, I would sit in the dining room, order a few plates, and work from the table as I ate. I stayed well past the normal "closing" time for dinner and the staff was polite and accommodating.
- Vicki (8/5): The staff make your stay! - Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at Ruby True - they really go out of their way to make your stay a memorable one. The hotel itself is great, set in lovely gardens, a little outside New Bagan (10 mins walk to the main street and restaurants etc..etc...).It's a very quiet, peaceful spot. Rooms have all the amenties you would expect (complimentary water, tea/coffee and toiletries) and the wifi is good (not something we have experienced everywhere in Myanmar). There's a good variety of food at breakfast, and while we didn't eat there, there is also a restaurant on site. Overall a great stay, thanks!
- Robert (10/5): Bike during the day / relax at night - This is a beautiful hotel just on the edge of New Bagan. I spend a very relaxing three nights there. The manager and the staff are friendly and attentive. The rooms are individual cottages. Each has a porch with comfortable chairs for sitting and relaxing in the evenings. Bicycles and motorbikes are available at the hotel. I rented an e-bike for one day and a bicycle for another day. The e-bike was a great way to see the various temples and pagodas. The hotel provided me with plenty of tourist advice and they made excellent arrangements for the next leg of my trip. The breakfasts are amazing. The cook is really quite good. My room was very clean and completely free of any bugs or mosquitos. So, a very nice three night stay. I would return.
