We had a beautiful room overlooking the terrace. The history of the building makes this place special, but the staff was impeccable. They attended to every request and often anticipated what we needed. We could not have been more delighted and wish we had more time to stay. Highly recommend this hotel.

The staff was very helpful with everything we needed, especially Alejandro. We loved how close it was to walk to shops and restaurants. Even late at night we felt very safe. I highly recommend staying here and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

- Sightsee65722237018 (10/5): Professional, Flexible, and Truly Caring - Five stars — without hesitation. This was a somewhat complex stay for us. I am traveling extensively for business in Europe and was trying to balance work commitments with some personal time. My wife, who is navigating serious health challenges, joined the trip so we could spend time together where possible. As it turned out, my schedule kept me away for much of the stay, and she was primarily there with her sisters. Because the reservation was under my name due to my loyalty status and travel schedule, there were some initial logistical misunderstandings. However, once clarified, the team was exceptional. They were professional, flexible, accommodating, and — most importantly — genuinely caring. Their focus was clearly on ensuring my wife was comfortable and well looked after, and they handled everything with grace and discretion. Travel while balancing business and personal realities is not always simple, but this team stepped up in every way. I am deeply appreciative of the care they showed my family. Highly recommend!
- Stavros (2/5): Terrible hotel and incompetent management that need an education in customer relations - Leaving and never going back as it’s completely overrated and without the Marriot name nobody would ever stay there.They never informed customers that their internet was going to be down for 2 days and that the hotel does not have proper parking facilities. No internet for 2 days .Just excuses and lies.Also beware of leaving your car with valet as they damaged my Lamborghini and then tried to deny it .After endless emails they said I should get my insurance company to contact theirs.Never took responsibility for anything and management always had excuses.Definitely not a 5 star hotel .Many better hotels in Barcelona and Marriot would do well to remove there name from Cotton House as this is just a big scam.
- 865sonjar (10/5): Historic and elegant setting, very friendly staff - We stayed at The Cotton House for 2 nights for a combined business/sightseeing trip. We usually book the big brand names but decided to go for something with a local touch this time, we liked the air of history and elegance and the promise of excellent service. We were not disappointed and would absolutely stay there again. A quick wrap-up of the things we liked: The location is very good, you get to major sights fast. By foot faster than by cab. The architecture and interior of the house is lovely and well maintained (it's not over-restored, but also not shabby at all). We specifically loved the bar/breakfast room with the wooden walls and ceilings and beautiful decor. Our room (looking into the courtyard) was clean, quiet, and had a very nice fresh feeling about it. The service both at the reception and bar was very friendly and prompt. A nice extra: Every room comes with a water bottle (that needs to be returned when you leave, or you can buy it) that can be refilled on every floor, you can take it around with you during your stay, so no need for buying plastic bottles all the time. I think especially during the summer this is very helpful. Just one thing - the gym is rather small. Just a bike and a crosstrainer, and I think some weights. But you cannot expect a huge gym in such a historic building. Doesn't fit. Overall, we enjoyed our stay a lot and, as written before, would definitely come back.

Everything and everywhere was absolutely spotless, comfortable and The Cotton Room was amazing with a balcony overlooking the courtyard with a beautiful view of the city. The team were outstanding. Special shout out to Susana and Reyal who could not do enough for us to make this a very special stay. It started with the reception we received when we arrived at the hotel and were asked if we would like a cup of coffee. Both our room and our friend’s room were ready when we arrived at 10:30 in the morning. Nice after traveling overnight. When we got to our room, what I nice surprise to find a bottle of Cava, a slice of cake and a nice note for my birthday. Our room was spotless with a balcony facing the terrace and courtyard below. Nice and quiet with no noise from street traffic. The entire hotel was very well maintained and the decoration for the holidays was excellent. At drinks on the terrace the first afternoon we were served by Fira. She had a great smile and made you feel at home right away. Each time we ran into her during the week, it was like meeting an old friend. All of the staff in the restaurant were excellent. Each morning we were greeted by an employee with a smile on their face. The food was excellent and since the hotel only has 83 rooms it was very relaxing and the music selection added to to calming atmosphere. Several times we requested items to be brought to our room and each time they were delivered within 5 minutes. Every employee greeted you with a smile no matter where you ran into them. Having spent 40 years in Human Resources, hiring employees, I must commend the people who hired employees for the hotel. They couldn’t do enough for you. This past weekend, the hotel ran a holiday event for those staying at the hotel as well as being open to those not staying there. The staff really worked very hard during these 2 days, but always had a smile on their face and treated everyone as a special guest. I will certainly recommend The Cotton House Hotel to anyone visiting Barcelona. Great hotel, great location and exceptional staff.

Everything is great about this hotel, the staff were incredibly professional, courteous and helpful. The hotel has a great cozy, elegant mood, and we were very surprised how quiet our room was (I advise getting a courtyard side room). What we really enjoyed was how perfectly located the hotel is from so many things we could walk to (we averaged 20000 steps a day!) but to gothic area, la Rambla, and shopping on Garcia, finding little hidden cafes, yummy tapas, having a great location that became a great second home, it was hard for us to leave. Just know you are in a busy area, so if looking for a peace and quiet spot, this won’t be it. But you’re in Barcelona for the city life, right :-)

- MizzusK (10/5): Woven with Warmth: The Cotton House Wraps You in Style - We like to choose hotels with a bit of character or history and in this case, the Cotton House Hotel delivered on both counts. A former headquarters for Barcelona's Cotton Producers' Guild, each of the rooms is named after a specific type of cotton. It has an intimate and upscale plantation feel, with ornate carvings, wood paneling and antique mirrors. The location on Gran Via was convenient and we were able to walk everywhere! There are nearby mini markets and a wealth of restaurants just outside the doorstep and a taxi rank at the end of the block. While the rooms aren't large, the sheets (as expected) were amazing and the AC was perfection. There was a shower room, comprised of both a large tub and a shower in an open floor plan. Loved the Ortigia bath amenities, and they even provided us with a toothbrush in the event we forgot ours. The room overlooked the in-house restaurant, Batuar, and was exceptionally quiet. Staff was efficient and friendly and service in the restaurant was excellent. There's a little gem of a rooftop pool with a view of the Sagrada Familia, a spa and a workout facilty on the top floor. Overall this hotel was clean, featured beautiful interiors and had a great staff. We would definitely return!

We arrived at 7am (we booked the room the night before) and the FDA wasn't friendly and not receptive to my requests, despite multiple discussions through the app pre-arrival. No recognition of my elite status at Bonvoy. We were given a tiny room with balcony facing the restaurant. The bathroom was very unusual, because the shower was in the middle and had nothing to keep the water from exiting the bathroom door. I asked for a feather-free, hypoallergenic bedding but woke up quickly because I couldn't breath and had to take my allergy pill. We were there just to sleep, but that goal wasn't accomplished. At breakfast, I couldn't get anyone to serve me, tho they were attentive to the other guests. And when they finally did, they were very unfriendly. The restaurant staff placed me in a corner and never returned to take my order. The lunch staff was better but the food wasn't good. It was impossible to get a hold of any managers because they only work from 9a-5p and had no coverage. And the staff members who were there absolutely had no discretion to make any decisions. When the front office manager came, I had a discussion with her. She didn't really do anything other than listen to the issues. I would not return to this property.

A very professional, yet friendly concierge desk that was incredibly helpful both before our trip and after we arrived. Ariadna--you personally worked so hard to help us. Your staff--Lois, Eduardo, Javier and everyone at Gossypium is filled with the best insider tips. We loved the private tour guide you suggested for Sagrada Familia and Gaudi Houses. The restaurant recommendations were all delicious. Cañete was our favorite for tapas. I would like to give a special thank you to Josephine who stayed late to help me with a suitcase stranded in customs. From the moment we arrived at the hotel, the front desk and bellmen were all so accommodating. Every request was filled immediately. Housekeeping--Margari and Edalia--left my room sparkling morning and night. The hotel "tip" cards left at night gave great tips for things to see in Barcelona. The breakfast every morning has anything you could want. The servers work so hard to make sure everyone is satisfied--the perfect cappuccino, latte, espresso with a choice of many breads, eggs, salmon. All of our servers did their best to provide whatever we wanted. Deni took especially great care of us. One morning I watched as Javier, the hotel manager, was making coffees after working a late wedding the night before. This is the best part of the hotel--a staff that works as a team and the following people went above and beyond: Emma Chantal Isa Marina Reyes Emma Vito Hugo Sasha Eder Juan Sigrid Julian Riccardo Deep Dev Alex Olivia Javi Already thinking about a return trip. What a personality! The hotel has beautiful antique furnishings and a room devoted to the history of the hotel’s cotton background with fabric bolts and antique books. Get your custom-made shirt here. Eddie at front desk helped us stay in the same room when I had made an error in check out date Our room was in the Egyptian category: balcony looking over the outside dining area, quality linens and plenty of large bath towels. Lovely bath products, soaps, shampoos and lotions. I fell approaching an area of outside seating, tripping on a wooden floor that blended in with the step required to get to the seating. I fell hard, badly hurting my knee and skinning my elbow. The knee took the brunt of it and is still hurting and swollen, two wells later. Dmitri, the restaurant manager, said he spoke to the executive manager about the lack of paint on the step. I told him it was dangerous. Server Rifa, working her first shift at the restaurant, was so sweet, tenderly inquiring about my injury and then taking care of hubby and my drink orders. This is a lovely hotel, near e-bike rentals and with a bellman staff who will take care of your needs. Highly recommend.

The check-in was smooth, even when we were three hours ahead of the check-in time. Accommodations were as expected, spacious, clean, and well-equipped. Their restaurant is small, yet they deliver exceptional service and a diverse food selection. Try the chicken croquettes and the patatas bravas as appetizers. Highly recommended. For us, the highlight was the attention we received from the staff. From the gentleman at the front who took our bags up to our room, to the concierge services who arranged for a doctor to come on premises to treat me for a herniated disc, to the way they looked after us during the entire stay. In Barcelona, this is the best place for us to stay, and we highly recommend it.

- MKSquared (4/5): Flooded bathroom with stains and rust! - The bedroom and verandah were very nice, the location was a dream, but the bathroom was a nightmare! The bathroom was a tub with half a glass door (or less). The rain head was unusable as using it created an immediate flood all over the floor, leaving only the handheld sprayer, which had no height adjustment and was only about halfway up the wall. The half piece of glass was not caulked along the wall, and water from the sprayer POURED out from the uncaulked, wall edge, also creating a terrible flood in the room. Not only was this a slip hazard, but it was quite unpleasant to slosh around in and have to clean up before using the electric blow dryer!.This clearly has happened time and time again as all three metal legs from the pedestal sink were completely rusted, and there was a stain on the ceiling, probably from a similar situation occurring in the room above. Further, the toilet lid, literally had to be force closed and the trash container was made of such flimsy tin, it just fell over every time you stepped on the lever to try and open it. After contacting reception, a maintenance man was sent up, looked at it and seemed at a loss for words. He said he could fix it but we wouldn’t be able to use the shower for 24 hours, which wasn’t going to work. Before he left, he said he’d tell the manager who would contact us, but no manager ever did, no note in the system to apologize to us at check out or to call the manager over for a personal apology, nothing. This was not a 5-star, Autograph Collection experience. There are many clean and beautiful places to select in Barcelona for much less money, but as Platinum Elite members we’ve been loyal to Marriott, yet we won’t make this mistake again in Barcelona.

- Alister57 (10/5): Excellent Hotel in many ways but the friendly and helpful staff made the difference. - We stayed at Cotton House for 6 nights while attending a business conference in Barcelona. It was an excellent choice; from the hotel itself, it's very convenient location, the amenities (especially the indoor/outdoor restaurant) but in particular the staff who deserve a special shout-out for how the just make sure your stay is seamless and enjoyable. We had an issue on the 1st night with the A/C, as an example, and that was resolved quickly with little fuss. We also had a car because we did a couple of day trips and while they have no driveway, Reyes was always happy to get the car quickly and help with luggage etc. Highly recommended, we would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The hot ala carte that came with our breakfast provided us with a great start to our our busy day, exploring the city. The hotel is close to many restaurants and shopping. My husband kept asking me if I couldn't come up with another word but exquisite; ). But I struggled with it. It is a beautiful (exquisite) hotel with quite an amazing history worth asking about. The staff all seemed quite proud to be a part of this hotel. It's in a perfect location for shopping and downtown sightseeing. Check out the Artisan strip not far from the hotel. And we almost didn't go in ... but take the time to go into the large department store a few blocks away, El Corte Ingles. It's a Macy's flagship in NYC on steroids with an IKEA on the top two floors and two floors of market items, flowers, and counter service. It really is remarkable, and we were happy we decided to walk through on our last afternoon in Barcelona.

Even though this trip was only two nights the staff exemplified five star hospitality and service. Management can be very proud of their staff. This historic hotel is stunning. It’s the former headquarters of the Association of Cotton house manufacturers. Also, a special thank you to Cristopher in Batuar Restaurant. He created a personal experience for us by greeting us by name, shaking hands and introducing himself. He is a true gentlemen with a great personality and is extremely professional. Cotton House is one of our favorite hotels. Read the hotel description on Marriott’s website and you will be hooked.

When we arrived to check in, there were two staffers behind the desk, and the clearly more experienced one deferred to the newer person to have us check in. While I'm sympathetic to the notion that everyone needs experience, it was plainly much slower than the normal check in process should take (another couple arrived 5 minutes after and nearly completed their process with the other staffer by the time we had finished), and our questions about the hotel were answered quite curtly. We also ordered ice to the room in the evening, waited over 15 minutes before calling again (we were placed "on hold" on the first attempt, where the connection was promptly dropped), where the front desk insisted the kitchen was aware, waited another 20 minutes before we went down to get it ourselves from the bar (the ice never arrived). The room itself was fine if a bit small and is quite conveniently located, but there is no need to consider this option given other alternatives (our stay at the Almanac nearby was cheaper and far superior on service and room quality).

The staff - to a person - were so friendly. The breakfast option was included for my Bonvoy level, and it was superb each day. The room was upgraded. The toiletries were lovely. This hotel included all of the nice touches - welcome chocolates, water refreshes every night. I had a bit of trouble with the air conditioner the first night. I think my attendant had not turned it on, and it couldn’t be overridden. Just some advice for Americans who like it chilly - the room can get chilly. If it’s not there yet, ask for assistance. Everyone is lovely. I should have. After the AC was at full blast the second day, the space was perfect. I really felt welcomed, The property itself is lovely and located well. I would easily recommend this hotel and stay here again.

During our stay, hotel staff mishandled our luggage, dropping three bags onto the floor — two of which were visibly cracked, and a third left with a damaged zipper. Instead of acknowledging the issue, they offered no apology or compensation. Even more appalling was the hotel’s complete mishandling of our clothing. Despite providing clear, written instructions and labeled tickets requesting dry cleaning, the staff sent over $4,500 worth of garments to standard laundry service — effectively ruining several delicate and high-end items. When we brought this to management’s attention, their response was astonishingly unprofessional. Rather than take accountability, the hotel manager attempted to deflect blame onto third-party cleaners and ultimately refused to accept any responsibility at all. This kind of dismissive attitude is inexcusable — especially from a property that claims to uphold five-star service standards. As if that weren’t enough, our room — allegedly their “best suite” — was underwhelming to say the least. It featured a single proper bed and two sagging sofa beds, both of which collapsed inward at the center. This setup felt more like a budget motel than a luxury hotel. Five-star ratings aren’t just about fancy lobbies or big names — they’re earned through quality service, professionalism, and guest care. On that front, this hotel earns a zero. It was a disappointing, frustrating, and costly experience. Avoid this place unless you want your belongings damaged, your concerns ignored, and your expectations shattered.

- RonR811 (10/5): Perfect hotel in the heart of Barcelona! Cotton House is perfect. - From the second you entered the hotel you were treated like royalty. The check in was seamless and the desk staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Our room was to be ready shortly after we arrived so they offered to hold our luggage while we walked around Barcelona. Rather than immediately going out we stopped by Battuar for breakfast. Another great experience! Beautiful outdoor patio with great food and service. When our room was ready, Mikael escorted us upstairs and explained all of the room amenities to us as well as the light and power switches. The bathroom situation was a bit odd - sink in the foyer, then one room for shower and bath ( the entire room including bathtub was the shower) - then another small room for the toilet. The room had a nice patio overlooking the restaurant courtyard. We were happy about the view as the other views were streetside and a bit noisy. But the room overall was beautiful although small. We had upgraded from a basic room but still was a bit small. The hotel staff, especially front desk, and concierge were outstanding. Even prior to our visit the concierge helped with restaurant suggestions and reservations. Whenever leaving or returning to the hotel there was either water to go, or a crystal decanter of water. The design of the hotel is gorgeous. 2 grand staircases, one modern and spiral, the other old world and massive added to the charm. Overall, a wonderful stay with amazing service! The hotel is located within walking distance to almost everything we wanted to see. Great location.

- RedDragon17 (10/5): It beautiful gem among a beautiful city - Absolutely amazing! The hotel is beautifully furnished and has such an elegant atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Our room was perfect! We wanted a quiet room and got our room Early per our request. The cava they give you when you check in is delicious! The breakfast is soooo good! Service is great too! The rooftop pool and bar was our fav place to unwind after walking all over Barcelona. The patio is also very inviting in the evening. The decorations are stunning! I am so glad I found this cute gem and I cannot wait to come back!
- okepat64 (10/5): A Charming Spot - We'll Be Back! - This was our second visit to this hotel and it didn't disappoint. From the moment you arrive, the staff are friendly and helpful, assisting with bags and offering a cava. We snagged a room upon our morning arrival and while it wasn't the best room in the house, my three hour nap more than made up for it. The common areas of the hotel are so charming - the library, bar, outdoor deck for meals and drinks and the roof top pool and bar. We'll be back!
- Shen_Jackson (8/5): Great location, attentive service - The Cotton House has an enviable location as it's a short walk to Placa Catalunya and the Gaudi strip. The larger rooms are quite nice, and the smaller ones are serviceable but small. Onsite dining is also good. Room upgrades matter here, but I would stay here again.
- karinl854 (2/5): AWFUL!!!! Do NOT recommend!!! - Horrible experience!!!! the staff was extremely rude and unhelpful from start to finish. No one was there to take our bags when we arrived. Doorman finally appeared and said he had been in the bathroom. Ick! Hotel lobby/common areas are very disappointing and not at all as they are pictured on the website. Room was even worse with a view of dirty balconies with laundry hanging... Also there was no bathroom - the shower, sink and toilet were open to the entry-way. No counter-space at all at the sink. AWFUL!!!! Do NOT recommend!!!
- P2141PBkarenp (10/5): Great 3 nights at the Cotton House - We loved ths hotel!! It is small, quiet and elegant. The service was great including that welcome glass of Cava! The staff was very helpful from getting us a taxi at a very busy time for dinner to putting an umbrella in my hand as we rushed out almost late to catch our Secret Food Tour. I woke up the first morning thinking how comfortable the sheets are and my husband said how great he slept on the comfortable bed. We had dinner and cocktails one night in the restaurant and the service and food were wonderful. Service was less attentive outside at lunchtime but still pleasant. I would not hesitate to stay again.

- maddie59 (10/5): Excellent Hotel - Centrally Located - Excellent Hotel. For us this was a splurge and well worth it. The hotel is centrally located at the bottom of the Eixample neighborhood. El Born, the ramblas and the Gothic neighborhoods are all very walkable. We chose taxis for the longer treks or the ones uphill. We never had to wait more than a minute for a ride. The staff was excellent from the time we arrived. Very friendly and helpful. We had room 606 as we like a balcony. The room was spacious, and we enjoyed wine on the balcony at night. The 6th floor has a small outdoor pool with a great view of Barcelona especially the Sangada Famalia. We also enjoyed the outdoor patio to have a desert or wine in the evenings. We stayed for 7 nights and would definitely stay here again.

The Cotton House is a beautiful, unique and welcoming place to enjoy. Each room is unique and I loved dining outside when the weather is comfortable.

We fell in love with the neighborhood around Cotton House as well as the staff there, shout out to Fatima and Federico! The room was beautiful with gorgeous views of the city and they made sure that my family was comfortable and attended to at every turn. Every time we visit Barcelona, we will be staying at the Cotton House.

This property was very beautiful and had a good breakfast, wait staff however could have been more attentive. Concierge was excellent, thank you Javier. Only negative is turned down service one night out of three.

In particular Ivan was Always there and very helpful with getting taxis and anything else we needed. The breakfast buffet was delicious. The pool area and library were all immaculate. The breakfast, the service and the decor is as good as you will find in any hotel in the world. It was a bit pricey compared to other hotels in the area but sometimes you have to splurge. Cant wait to come back to Barcelona.

- Voyager05551519566 (10/5): Thank you! - Apart from being the most beautiful hotel with the comfiest bed, gorgeous bar and terrace area, and impressive entrance, what I would really like to praise are the staff. They were friendly and helpful throughout our stay but, on the day of the power blackout, they could not have been more helpful. I really don’t know how we would have managed to get to the airport without their help. A special mention to Juan and Alex who went above and beyond. In a very stressful situation they were a god send!

- rachelrios626 (10/5): Unforgettable Easter weekend stay at the Cotten Hotel - When my cousin and I first arrived in Barcelona, everything was off to a bad start. I booked the wrong hotel, my cousin was extremely sick, and both of our flights got delayed. We lost all hope. Seemingly, there were no hotels available in Barcelona on Easter weekend. My cousin and I were prepared to book a flight back home, but thankfully, Gina answered our call at 4am. The hotel staff at the Cotten hotel were so friendly and accommodating. They tended to our every need and treated us very well. Gina, Eddie, and Lino were especially helpful and kind. They were kind enough to upgrade our room given our unfortunate earlier circumstances. Also, the hotel food was absolutely amazing. Would 100% recommend the dinner menu!

Location is also perfect, bringing you close to pretty much wherever you want to go in the city. Definitely will stay here again next time they're not fully occupied so that I can finally get upgraded!
