Guest Reviews
- Taichi (10/5): -
- Claire (7/5): - The location and size of the rooms were great for our group. The staff member at the front desk was helpful and organised parking for our 3rd vehicle. There were several comments on the mattresses and being able to feel the springs. New mattresses or thick toppers and everyone would be happy
- RODGER (7/5): -
- Ricardo (9/5): - Private, convenient and close to town.
- Saffron (6/5): - The bed and the noise from the street
- Terangi (8/5): -
- Tania (5/5): Won't stay there again. - The staff & cleanliness. Both my husband & I had lower back pain after 3 nights in that bed. The WIFI was hopeless and we couldn't even watch Netflix or a movie to relax, and there was nothing else to do there.
- Bronwyn (5/5): The part of the motel we stayed in was old, shabby and items were well overdue for replacement. - The location suited us. Shower step was so high (approx. 400mm) we didn't feel safe using it. The kettle looked old and musty inside and made our cup of tea smell and taste unsafe to drink. The room was on the first floor with outside stairs only, it was raining when we arrived so going up with suitcase was scary. The door was tricky to lock when we were going out.
- Daniel (2/5): -
- Robbie (9/5): Overall very good - Location was good Comfortable unit improve access to rooms, trip hazard on entry, big step down, hard to see
- John (10/5): -
- Tina (4/5): - Main door glass was cracked and shower had huge step up to get into it
- Jonathan (8/5): -
- Susan (5/5): If you need a bed only then this will do. - Some rooms appeared to have permanent lodgers in them..stuff lying around. Motel rooms appeared old/tired. Lots of boarded up areas. No aircon or fan in our room and if you opened door, heard traffic plus not secure. It was a one night stopover but if you were staying in area for a bit, find somewhere else. Feel of the place.
- Doug4857 (5/5): - Had to carry bags up very steep poorly maintained steps to get to room 18. Parking space was a concern, open to street. The bed was very soft and probably should have been replaced 20 years ago! I nearly rolled out of the bed that night. We had to climb up into the shower cubicle. What is it with the shower being 30cm of the floor? A hairdryer was supplied but there was nowhere to plug it in. Bed, shower, parking.

- Dani (7/5): -
- Rangitaawa (7/5): Good facility but lacking - Great location great staff No cooking facilities
- wayne (8/5): Very happy with stay nice and close walking distance to bars and resturants - Very helpful check-in Room very tidy and clean Just a bit of road noise and could hear the pedestrian crossing on main road beeping
- Alexander (4/5): -
- Grace (6/5): - Welcoming and polite owner. Spacious room and clean and tidy.
Pool and outside verandah
- Stuart (8/5): -
- Glenn (7/5): - If all you are after is a clean bed for the night in a good central location in Warkworth, then it is a great place. I was in town for a family event and knew that the only thing I cared about was a comfy bed and a good shower. Both were great. Overall the place is tired but priced accordingly. Very much like so many motels around the country. The cost of refurbishment must be far more than the benefit or ability to put prices up so the gap between hotels/lodges and private BnB type accommodation is widening. If all I had to do was compare to other motels I would say it was absolutely fine and it met my needs perfectly. There was nothing I didn't like. I just feel for the owners caught in a cashflow trap where they have an ageing property that will cost a lot to refurbish. Maybe just focus on one room at a time over a couple of years and create an "executive suite" price for the refurbished rooms to help pay for them
- Jocelyn (8/5): We found directions & road signs into Warkworth not clear enough to find. - Clean and safe, close to town centre. 2nd bed mattress felt that it hadn't been rotated and slanted to one side.w
- Caryll (7/5): -
- Kevin (6/5): -
- Aljoro (10/5): -
- Janice (8/5): Lovely place. - Well located, clean and comfortable I saw two cockroaches, but that is the nature of New Zealand.
- Reco Ricardo (10/5): It was great! - Spacious rooms. Had all the basic amenities. Had a nice courtyard to hangout with the family.
- Sam (7/5): Good basic accommodation. Met my needs/requirements. - Clean, good size room. Able to park my car out the front of the room. Didn't like isn't the right word. It was a good basic room. Some of the light fittings are falling out.
- Megan (7/5): -
- Joanne (9/5): Second time we have stayed at this Motel. Would stay there again. - Handy to where we were leaving from. Comfortable room. There wasn't a rubbish bin in the room.
- sjtoz (10/5): - Loved it, great rooms with everything you need, brilliant central location and friendly, helpful staff! Nothing!
- Esther (1/5): - Cockroaches in the first
room moved to another room the following night
- Kathryn (8/5): Convient location and price point. - This was a last minute decision after my parents party we stayed here with our 2 children.
Kids and us were very happy. room was lovely and spacious. If it hadnt been so last minute we would have bought togs and tried out the pool as it looked lovely and inviting.
Such a good price point. I had a bit of difficulty trying to work out how to use the TV, looked in the info booklet, hoping for some instructions, but found nothing. I eventually worked it out, but it would have been awesome if there had been instructions.
- Mollie (10/5): -
- Alex (2/5): DIRTY! Not worth the price at all! Staining everywhere, aircon didn’t work, TV limited channels. Receptionist (not the o - It was in a good location. It was really dirty, the shower was horrible, the beds were extremely uncomfortable, the price was ridiculous.
Staining all over the couch. The aircon didn’t work on one of the rooms, the TV had very limited channels.
- John (8/5): -
- Nita (9/5): Very friendly staff and a much nicer motel that the photos suggested - The staff were very welcoming and allowed the young nephews to quietly use the pool after the usual closing time. The motel looked much nicer in real life than it did in the photos. Parking was easy and the unit large, having a little table and chairs outside was nice. Just a minor odd part was that it lacked a few kitchen basics. There was no cutting board, sharp knife, or kitchen utensils that could have made home catering easier.
- Jan (8/5): -
- Shaun (7/5): -
- Yolanda (5/5): Overpriced and dated - Location was good, close to town. Overpriced and dated. Toilet wouldn't flush most of the time or had to flush multiple times. The shower has a high step up to get in, the shower head is not detachable and can't tilt, and it is a high reach to turn on and off (not great for short people like me or kids). Traffic is very noisy from the main road. Room was very hot, no aircon. Nowhere to hang up clothes, no couch as per picture and had a cigarette hole in the blanket.
- Maire (9/5): Friendly service, clean rooms, great value for money, would stay again - Warm, friendly service, the rooms (while dated) were very clean. Great value for money. The kids loved the swimming pool - spent most of our stay swimming in it - and we enjoyed dinner from the local fish and chip shop in the courtyard next to the pool. There was nothing we did not like about our stay here.
- Mason (8/5): Great location and friendly staff - Great value and location The beds weren’t super comfortable, but otherwise a great place.
- Rasmus (7/5): Thankful the motel was there and the staff were SO helpful when i needed it, thank you - Was in dire straits when arrived and needed a lot of help, got almost all of it, but misunderstood the reception lady the checkin night, for laundry money exchange, but in the morning it got fixed so all good. The room had some dirty corners but not major.
Was missing a table to sit with a laptop.
Locks were VERY worn but worked.
- Kathy (4/5): It did the job for one night but wouldn’t recommend for longer - Location good for what we wanted Place looks tired. Didn’t seem clean especially the bathroom. Towel rail was old and shabby. Nowhere to put anything. No heating or extractor fan. We saw 2 cockroaches. Milk carton with straw not easy to pour from. No coffee plunger. Blind cord was broken.
- Jane (8/5): Great pool - Fantastic host (Max) Traffic noise when windows open (next to highway)
- Susan (8/5): -
- Finlay (8/5): -
- Catherine (6/5): - Pool Run down
- Alice (7/5): It was nice and quiet the stuff were accommodating the room was clean 'ish' - Nice and quiet tidy'ish' room lovely staff The fan didnt work so it was very hot there is no aircon for the room the beds mattresses are super bouncy and slides off the base during sleep... the shower is a very high step up and down could be considered a hazard you almost have to jump down and I am 5.7 so average height need a rail or step so you dont slip...
- Angel (10/5): - Everything the staff was exceptional both on Monday and the Thursday we checked in, the room was clean the bed was so comfy it was an amazing stay and absolutely will book again
- Steven (7/5): - Location, facilities and ease of use Bed a little uncomfortable.
- Anahera (8/5): Walton Warkworth - The receptionist was a beautiful lady very kind and helpful our first time in Warkworth and we loved it we will be booking again
- Huu Binh (8/5): Ok for the price. - Clean comfortable studio. The motel advertises to have pool and spa. But there was no spa and no explanation. Real false advertising.
- mina (6/5): -
- Terere (6/5): Was ok - Good location happy people Pool was not clean
- Nicole (8/5): Good stay. - Convenient location. Well priced. Our aircon didn’t work and it was so hot. It also took ages to be checked in, we waited a good 10-15 minutes in the office before anyone noticed we were there.
- Mary (10/5): -
- ZekT (8/5): -
- Doug (10/5): Doug's review - Great location and the manager " Max " was so helpful and knowledgeable. I very much enjoyed my stay.
- Nina Marie (10/5): - The temporary keeper Max was lovely! Great rooms too.
- Barrett (9/5): -
- christina (8/5): - Convenient location and serviced daily wow Pillows
- Terangi (7/5): It was very good and the employee was very nice - The shower and how much space The bed was way too soft
- Callum (10/5): - Awesome
- Matthew (8/5): -
- Ebbings (5/5): - Price, location and availability. Location is on the main road, traffic noise is loud, especially motorbikes & trucks.
- Robyn (6/5): -
- Matt (10/5): -
- Siti Heder (7/5): Comfortable stay - Great location close to town, clean room, comfortable bed, and welcoming staff. The room and shower are a bit dated, but it's clear the motel is making an effort to maintain things with fresh paint and crisp beddings.
- Boyd (7/5): -
- Ammy Marilyn (8/5): -
- Peter (8/5): -
- Brad (8/5): - The personnel are very likeable like this one, No. They are very uncharming, No. Quite the reverse.
- Anne (1/5): Not good at all!! Needs a bulldozer and a 4 star resort to replace it. Prime position to capitalise on people wanting to - Location to Warkworth Bed too soft, pillows too big. Shower floor plastic moulding has a crack in it and it moves when you stand on that area!! Shower door hard to open/close. Must be original towel rail in bathroom, as rust at each end. Motel is at least 30 years old!!Had muddy foot prints from front door into unit. Mould on Venetian blinds in kitchen. WiFi not good.
- Peter (2/5): Yuk! - Nothing It was really run down. Room had a very musky smell that I didn’t like
- nino7376 (4/5): Very badly rated motel - When checking out this motel before booking, the websites I looked at rated it as 4 star and 3.5 star. Before writing this review I emailed the motel with my thoughts as I am a motelier myself and I have a 4 star motel. This is the first time I have ever rated a motel as I know how hard times have been since COVID. I received a phone call from the motel and was advised that my opinion was personal and she did not care what I thought. When I enquired if she thought the two bedroom unit I stayed in was 4 star, she advised yes. My only comment was 'WOW' I would grade the unit I stayed in as 2 star/back packers.
- steve (6/5): -
- George (10/5): - everything was excellent nothing
- Phil (4/5): - Traffic noise Very Loud due to next to main road / Junction.
Walls very thin can hear people in the next room talking
Beds where too soft.
Very Old Motel
- Tony (3/5): Okay for a night if you’re passing through, but it’s old and tired and rundown - it says good location. I’m parking. If you’re just travelling through and staying the night it’ll be ideal for that sort of thing but it’s just very old and rundown. The bed was pretty comfortable. it’s very old and tired inside and rundown. once upon a time, it would’ve been a popular and a good place to stay. But for the money you can stay in other places around Warkworth. Things like some of the railings outside on the decking area are coming apart and coming off. The showerhead had so much mould on it. It was quite scary just lack of basic things that you would normally find in a motel like this. It’s okay to stay the night. I travel for work in this area regularly and I won’t be staying here again.
- Joanne (8/5): Great place to stay - Location was Lovely and quiet and close to town Bigger coffee cups would be awesome
- Sally (10/5): - Friendly staff
Well equipped kitchen
Comfortable bed
Walking distance from town
- Margaret (3/5): - The relief manager was very nice. The beds were comfortable with plenty of warm bedding The stairs were in a dangerous condition. Weeds growing out of the railings.
The shower was dangerous, I couldn't even get in as the step up was so high. I'm sure it would not meet health and safety requirements , it also took q0 minutes for the water to get hot.
- Lexie59 (10/5): - Room was clean and tidy. Beds were comfortable. Would have been better with cooking facilities.
- Brett (6/5): Enjoyed close to town and quiet - Clean and tidy quiet with concrete walls Take Pride like NZ motels use to be , gardens around the property need attention !!
- Christine (10/5): - Room was clean, but very old and tied. I was scared I was going to fall through the shower floor.
- Cassandra (6/5): - It is an older property which is evident, could do with some chairs and a small table on the deck area as that gets nice sun, in need of a bit of an upgrade but beds and pillows were great, good if you just need a bed for the night and not looking for anything fancy
- Morrison (7/5): - No clustered No cooking facilities
- Mairehau (5/5): Probably won’t return - Location to HW 1 It’s run down
Needs a facelift
It’s tired and old
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Excellent
- John (6/5): - No TV Netflix, free to air, despite the manager saying he was trying to fix it
- Peter (10/5): - The property was old but spotlessly clean well located and had everything we needed.
- Chris (10/5): - Very clean room. Staff friendly and helpful. Good on site parking. Laundry facilities good. Really nice lady managing the lodge while owners away. Black out curtains would be a good addition as the lights outside the back rooms stay on all night and it can be hard to sleep when they shine through the ranch slider curtains where the beds are situated.
- Reinhard (5/5): Terror at Warkworth - Close to town and its facilities. Poor maintenance, terrible heating, in fact a lack of heating. Unbelievable shower. Took ages for hot water to start flowing. Dangerous stairs to the second level.
- lesley (10/5): - It was very convenient to supermarket and town less than 10 min walk, nice and quiet
- Terangi (9/5): Was nice and I quite - Every thing It was perfect
- Russell (4/5): stayed there years ago and it was lovely it is now very rundown and basic - It was very rundown and dated
