- Jean (8/5): It was our first time to experience glamping and it was enjoyable. My kids especially loved it. - We did not really had a chance to have breakfast because we slept in. But I will tell you more about our stay. We stayed near the waterfront and it had an amazing view. The only downside was that ferries and small boats were transporting at every hour, so we can hear the noise from outside and it didn't really matter up until we wanted to get some shut eye. But even then, it still doesn't discourage us and we would still book for the same accommodation in the future. The one we didn't like was that at the common kitchen, there was no kettle to use so we can not boil water. If there was a kettle, well, somebody probably swiped it as there was no trace of it.. And even with the labeling, our food disappeared from the common fridge as well. It was not really a big deal because it was just 3 pre packed meals for $10 each, so we just went to one of the cafes and had dinner there.

- Nottle (10/5): - Having a camping experience in the heart of Sydney was something that would be hard to find elsewhere. The staff were very obliging and very personable.Having open views to Sydney harbor bridge.Open your tent meters from the water, and a short ferry trip to practically anywhere you want to visit.
However, with the peace and tranquility on the island or quiet gatherings of friends and family, made for a surreal, yet wonderful time.
There was plenty to explore on the island itself, and the options of café and licensed relaxed dining experience.
Not to mention the rich layers of history, with various tours and movie nights.
So much to do, I would highly recommend staying. I would have liked to stay longer to be able to experience more if the island.
- Aala (1/5): - I had a reservation for a tent stay and would like to share my experience in a fair and objective way.
While I acknowledge that it would have been better to attend in person and confirm my booking, I received a phone call prior to arrival informing me that I needed to respond to an email before being permitted entry. This was unexpected and unclear.
What added to my confusion is that, after speaking with other guests staying at the property, none of them reported receiving a similar call or being asked to complete this step. I was also informed by staff that this is not the usual procedure, and that such matters are typically handled upon arrival.
Additionally, I was told that I would receive a follow-up after internal discussion, but I did not receive any communication. When I returned to inquire, I was advised that I would receive an update the following morning; however, there were no staff available on-site, which further delayed any resolution.
As a Muslim guest, I value respectful and equitable treatment, and the inconsistency in how this situation was handled left me with some concerns and questions.
Overall, the experience left me feeling uncertain due to the lack of clarity and consistency in communication. I hope the management can review this process to ensure clearer and more consistent communication for future guests.
- Kristin (7/5): Beautiful location, wonderful location. - Camp ground was well maintained and maps were very easy to follow. Tent had a leak, very disappointing at 3am. One of the chairs was badly broken so could not be used.
- sankalp (9/5): Great short stay. - Unpowered site used own tent, spent good time with my kids, exploring Cockatoo Island, I appreciate that place is kids friendly , they explore movie. camp fire marshmallow bbq, they liked exploring prison area, I wished that audio narration was for free, the walk was good. BBQ area very busy , we didn't came prepare to use it, bring our own food. My kids enjoyed basketball. I really couldn't complain much,

- Teresa (7/5): Great stay in our glamping tents, loved the waterfront deluxe option where everything was ready for when we arrived. - Loved the island, the waterfront tent with deck chairs to relax and enjoy the view. Lots of amenities, clean and tidy. I felt the cafe was looking a little tired. Ordered a take away glass of wine that was warm, although the lady did provide ice. We were going to the marina to have pizza for dinner but then noticed it closed at 5 on Saturday which I thought was odd given check in was 2pm. Ordered a burger from the cafe which was nicer than expected though.

- Lisa (10/5): Brilliant! Love love love love! Will definitely stay again! Thank You 🙏 - Obviously, location location location…in awe
Tents were very comfortable…I opted to bring linen etc
Camp kitchen brilliant…especially the Zip instant boiling water
Staff very friendly, efficient, Thank You I was only booked to initially stay one night but extended this to three nights
However, I was unable to stay on the Sunday night…was unaware of the ferries stopping service to the island earlier than shown on timetable
Maybe helpful to sign post this at the ferry dock…easier for visitors, especially from overseas
- Lochan (9/5): Good experience - Good location Cafe closed early when staying over night so you have to bring own takeaway or food to cook on bbq
- Lochan (9/5): Good experience - Good location comfortable bed and good facilities That cafe closes so early when staying the night. You have to bring your own food to make on bbq or takeaway
- Rebecca (8/5): - The experience, the view. -
- Thomas (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Beautiful location - There was no breakfast Lots on coachroaches which we mentioned to the booking office
- Karine (10/5): - Lovely place on the river
- Atko (10/5): -
- Rowan (9/5): Our favourite Sydney holiday home - Fire Station - Been many times before and just love staying on Cockatoo. Some of previously open buildings closed off without adequate explanation or timeframes.
- James (9/5): -
- Laetitia (10/5): -
- Tiffany (7/5): Really fun! Tricky for a family of 5 to camp together. - Fun venue for kids right in the heart of the harbour! Facilities are clean and exploring is great. The basic campsite sleeping mats are really I uncomfortable. As a family of 5 we what’d to book the deluxe but the options limited us.
- Michelle (10/5): Loved it! Great experience - Amazing time exploring history and get the change to wake up on Sydney Harbour The beds in the tents could be better! I’ve never been so uncomfortable sleeping while camping - we had deluxe water front package
- Laura (10/5): -
- Undra (10/5): - The location was great. If I could hire sheet or blanket, everything would be perfect
- Feng (10/5): -
- Guest (8/5): Fantastic and exciting stay! - The Location and Facilities were fantastic! There were also amazing and interesting exhibits all around the island! Nothing at all!
- Peters (8/5): Excellent! Can’t beat location, very interesting history - Location, pricing, friendly staff Didn’t notice the drinking stations to refill water bottle. We were told they are everywhere, didn’t see one. Perhaps could be put in more noticeable areas
- Guest (6/5): Sensational - Sensational breakfast.
The island was great. The staff for the accommodation could be happier, rather than Mr Grumpy,
Who didn't want to be there.
The lockers need to be upgraded to cahless machines.
Coin operated are good, except no one carries cash any more.
The other point is, at least have some coins at reception.
- Jennie (9/5): If you ever get the chance, stay one or two nights on Cockatoo Island. - This overdelivered on promise. Really comfortable camp beds and wonderful location. Even the public washrooms were well designed. Nothing. It was a great example of ingenuity, accommodation comfort and things to do.
- Conrad Charles (8/5): A wonderful getaway 10 mins from Circular Quay - position position and the camp fire was fantastic. Sitting in front of the fire with crackling wood immersed in a small amount of bush land it was hard to believe we were in the centre of Sydney. Wonderful. Nothing that I can think of.
- Danny (10/5): - Best place it all Nothing like it all
- Gabe (8/5): -
- Sophie (9/5): City camping, never expected it, so good! - I did enjoy the location and idea of the camp out. Advertising misleading for booking.com and website indicating futon bed for $133 a night. We did not bring a pillow or any bedding because of the advertising. I was cold and uncomfortable on the floor mattress. Disappointed and had a bad sleep, or very little sleep. Otherwise very good.. reception at night did not mention payment for a torch or anything about a padlock. Movie sound at 9.30 couples was very poor and not woth watching as you could not hear it very well. I did enjoy the location and idea of the camp out.
- Anna (10/5): -
- Venkata (8/5): -
- WAH KING (7/5): Nice experience for inexperienced campers. - Convinent for unexperience campers, facilities are cool.
The cafes have the best harbour views in Sydney. Bats are noisy at night, especially when our tent was located right underneath a tree.
- Marlin (7/5): Beautiful location…. Hard to relax with kids screaming all day. - Loved the view, the facilities and the comfort of glamping Too many kids running around and screaming. Loud music played in tent beside us. People were very inconsiderate and there seemed to be no rules around sound levels etc.
- Ivy Tzu-Hsuan (7/5): It was relaxing, but more pricey than similar experience elsewhere - Power, hot water working Would be great if more power spots and kettles available.
- Justin (10/5): -
- Reecha (9/5): Great getaway within the city -

- Danny (10/5): - Best place It all and staff
- Robin (8/5): - There was no power to charge our phones which was annoying we to the cafe at 9am and the lovely young girl offered to charge our phones in her cafe
- Guest (1/5): I book rooms but when went there with three kids they said o didn’t book room only tent - Nothing Didn’t book
- Hergerd (9/5): Would love to go back, and will recommend it to everyone I know. - Loved the location, a short ferry ride to arrive. The island was very enjoyable to explore and take pictures, absolutely beautiful. Lots of history to enjoy. The apartment we booked was beautiful and had excellent views. The heater was on when we arrived, so it was nice and warm. The windows had the options of shade and privacy shutters. The apartment had a washer and dryer, full bathroom, full kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, stove/oven and dishwasher. There was a beautiful private balcony area that had a full barbeque. There was a TV, DVD player, and Bluetooth speaker for convenience.
- David (10/5): Fantastic location and adventure experience - The whole island is lovely and well thought out. For the price (tents) I can’t imagine why you would want to stay in a depressing budget hotel when you can have all this.
- Zac (10/5): Exceptional - Staff Ranger security is excellent Nothing did not like
- Teresa (10/5): Worth every penny - Everything Nothing all great
- Sharlem (8/5): Very good -
- Irene (10/5): Otherwise enjoyed discovering cockatoo island and all its history - Easy to walk around. History. There was a group of dads n sons. The dads hung around the kitchen and the kids rode up and down the boardwalk all after noon til 9.30p calling out to each other. Thank goodness they left the next morning.
- Jordarna (10/5): Exceptional - Location and camping still Nothing
- Carla (10/5): - A unique stay in the heart of Sydney.
- Belinda (8/5): Room for improvement - Very spacious, great location, staff was nice. Turned up at 5 to check in no one there, had to call security. Lady in cafe said visitors centre has to be open till 8 but always go home early, 2 bedroom apartment, Front light didn't work, back light over BBQ didn't work, cigarette butts all over verandah and pathways, said online very fast internet but no wifi in room, shower tap was broken and had to keep putting it back on to work. Pillow was stained yellow. The amount I paid for 2 nights at $820 it should have been perfect. And it wouldn't hurt to have milk in the fridge for the pod machine..
- Brad (8/5): Very good -
- Ann (9/5): Awesome - Location was superb
Planning to come again Na
- Sachin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aine (7/5): Good - We got the deluxe camping package and couldn’t fault the tent and comfort of the camping beds provided. It was very clean. The restaurants on the island, particularly cockatoo overboard, is some of the worst service I have ever experienced. The staff tried to over charge me and my friends for absolutely everything we bought and I had to constantly correct them on the price. Service was unbelievably slow. Be careful to double check the cost of what they are charging you as the boy serving us tried to overcharge us all everytime we purchased anything.
- Mary (10/5): - Love the whole Island and tour
- Morales (10/5): Exceptional -
- Belinda (9/5): Superb -
- Ian (9/5): We had a very enjoyable stay. Thank you to all of your team. - Arriving by ferry
The welcome
The ride up to the room (23A)
Excellent accommodation; good amount of space for 4 people. Superb view from spacious balcony. Good functional kitchen. Comfortable rooms, comfortable beds, nice bathroom. Thank you for the 11:00am check out. There was nothing we didn’t like
Everything was great
- Martin (9/5): The duration of the stay was in general a good stay - The property is actually very beautiful surrounded by trees and Buildings and behind us was the Large Water Tower, we valued the privacy It needed to be brighter outside as it seemed Gloomy and sad i feel like we weren’t told about the History of the Island and perhaps our Home we stayed in as the 2nd night there there were Noises and people talking outside my window at a time when it was dark, cold wet and Windy, I wasn’t imagining things however that was my experience
- Thi (10/5): Great camping experience - Location is the best, views are second to none
Staff is very friendly and helpful
Facilities are great
The tent was pretty good given the very bad weather on that night we stayed. We were sleeping like logs in the rain. I would not suggest BYO tents because the weather can be quite tricky on the island. It can be a little bit noisy at some points.
- Anjit (8/5): Very good -
- Anjit (8/5): Very good -
- Natalie (6/5): Great adventure let down by lack of detail with the execution - Location was amazing. Staff very helpful. Toilets/showers great Airmatress had a whole in it. Talking to other guests this appeared common problem.
Booked for three (adult +2 kids) but only 2 mattresses.
Dinner was not available when we arrived on Friday evening- disappointed it closed so early (7pm)
Breakfast on sat very expensive ($10 for two pieces of toast that were not even buttered!!); and because of the surge took 45min to order. Suggest that this is a known constraints and the cafe could anticipate the demand and prepare better (pre-made common items in warmer like bacon and eggs)
- Donna (10/5): An incredible experience and treat! - We absolutely loved our stay on Cockatoo Island in one of the Harbourside Apartments. So peaceful with spectacular wrap around views and incredibly comfortable and well appointed apartment. There is a lot to do on Cockatoo Island or no need to do anything. We chose to stay during the acoustic Sunset Sessions in summer so that we could also go to a concert one evening which was delightful. The guided tours on the island are fantastic with very well-informed and interesting guides. The food options on the island are very limited and closed very early. For the standard of accommodation it would be ideal to have breakfast items provided at least for the first morning. We appreciated the tea and coffee provided but it was very limited with only one small container of milk. There was no other biscuits or other items provided which surprised us. Overall it was the food in the apartment and on the island that was the only disappointment.
- Alexia (3/5): Poor -
- Val (8/5): - Enjoyed a night under the stars. Would definitely come again
- Phaedra (9/5): A perfect night with a relaxed BBQ dinner, s’mores in the campfire and flying fruit foxes visiting in the fig trees abov - Zero effort camping in Sydney surrounded by harbour, heritage and wildlife. Militant style and extensive rules and regulations.
- Poonam (9/5): Superb -
- Mk (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stacey (10/5): This is something everyone should experience. - The accommodation was fabulous. It was clean comfortable and the most amazing views. The ability to explore the island and its history was wonderful. The ferry rides to the island were regular and such an excellent way to see the harbour. The views were spectacular.
- Le (9/5): Superb -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing view and very relaxing. Highly recommended.
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional - It was nice and relaxing the history was very interesting , staff was great, views where incredible beautiful place to visit. That the resturant closed so early a d the kiosk
- Diana (4/5): Beautiful island, shame about the noise of the seagulls all night. - Beautiful island, great facilities including kitchen, bbq, toilets, showers The location of the self built tents is not the best, considering the noise of the seagulls all night. Hard to get sleep because of the noise.
- Denise (8/5): Lovely weekend - We loved the view The people below us smoked a lot and we couldn’t sit on the balcony. We weren’t comfortable asking him to move away
We would have loved a few tea bags and some milk on arrival
- Leigh (8/5): - Beautiful spot. Only shame is that breeding seagulls seem to be have given the best part of the island.
- Sarah (10/5): - A beautiful interesting place. Lots of history to see.
- Abdinora (8/5): Very good -
- Eleni (8/5): Great experience. Would definitely do again. - Wonderful facilities! Cots weren’t as comfortable as I thought they would be. Next time might just sleep on the ground.
- Alexa (10/5): - Nice easy camping adventure, ferry trip to the island with beautiful views especially at sunset and city lights at night. All facilities were clean
- Hamidreza (9/5): Nice and clean camp area -
- Davis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Noelene (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marlin (8/5): Very good - View was great Not a lot of people around
- Dallas (10/5): Stylish, spacious, serene, scenic, scintillating - Stylish, spacious, serene, scenic, scintillating Dvd players didn’t work and we’d been planning a movie night
Oven sounded like it was about to die
Food in both cafes a bit ordinary
