• Roderick (9/5): Awesome Dunedin - Jnr suite is well set out with separate bedroom which was ideal for our needs. Also room was dark & soundproof which was great for sleeping. Bed very comfortable. Buffet breakfast was ordinary with limited gluten free options. Cafes in the next block offered much better & cheaper options.

• MARTIN (8/5): - Very good hotel. Best location if staying in Dunedin. One of the male staff in the bar / restaurant was rude to my wife when she asked for a drink at the bar. There were several people waiting to be served and he was more interested in straightening knives and forks on the tables for breakfast the following morning. He told her she would have to wait.

Staff at reception made offer of helping with luggage from car parking I was impressed overall although having stayed before, not surprised. Dinner menu of high quality, very similar to that of my home town's version indicating short stay expected possibly. Staff of excellect standard and ability.
• Sam Thomas (9/5): A really good hotel, thoughtfully designed with washing machine & dryer in each room. - The receptionist who checked us in was awesome. A quick easy process and she gave me a lot of into about the surrounding area ie. what to see, restaurant options etc. Room was fantastic with comfortable beds and pillows - on the 7th floor with a great view out across the harbour. The washing machine & dryer in the bathroom was such a thoughtful inclusion that we hadn't seen anywhere else across our 3 weeks of travel around the south island. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and the waiters were very good. Buffet breakfast was also really good, lots of of tasty options. Nothing. I'd have no hesitation in staying here again.
• Karen (10/5): Excellent value-for-money 👌 - My room felt like pure luxury! The bed and pillows were super-duper cosy and it was great having a kitchenette, as one night I chose to eat in. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and gave excellent restaurant recommendations. My stay there has been by far the best of my accommodation chosen so far on my South Island adventure. The location was an easy walk to the central city district. Highly recommend choosing Distinction Dunedin 🤗 Nothing to report here.

• ndmom11 (10/5): What a gem! - We stayed one evening as part of a 3 day tour of the Southern Island. We had stayed the previous night at Distinction in Te Anau which was ok, but not great. However, we were pleasantly surprised by this hotel in Dunedin. The room was absolutely lovely with plush carpet and a bed that was heavenly! Even thought it's in the middle of downtown we found it to be very quiet. The bathroom was large and updated and we were thrilled that it had a washer and dryer. We would absolutely stay here again!

Staff are friendly and approachable. This is now my new favourite in Dunedin. Great restaurant, breakfast variety to suit all tastes. Nothing not to like.

• Carol (9/5): Great location and quiet rooms - Great location and our suite was a decent size. Clean and quiet. Had a washer and dryer. Restaurant and bar area on-site. More storage in the wardrobe and somewhere to hang jackets would have been great. The credenza behind the door when you come in was pretty redundant - so it would have been nice to have more storage there. $30 a day for parking - same rate as the public pay, so could be a bit cheaper.

• AussieRoamers (10/5): Great stay with Harbour views - Stayed here for 2 nights prior to catching an expedition ship. Hotel staff were great and very helpful. The room was a good size and very comfortable with zero noise, so very quiet. The restaurant for breakfast was outstanding as it catered for everyone. Dinner at the hotel was also great. Parking was secured across the laneways and was $30 a day which we thought was rather expensive, but when in Rome as they say.

• MartiNewZealand (10/5): Lovely stay in truly 5 star accommodation - We were part of a railway tour group from Christchurch to Dunedin, then to Invercargill and had the pleasure of finishing long, slow train journeys with a great rest up at the Distinction Dunedin over two nights. A more than king size bed was good to find! Service was fantastic and all of the staff were very friendly, smiley and helpful. The priciness of the hotel and attached Parcels restaurant were out of our usual budget but well worth it. The meals were fantastic and once again service was exceptional.

• Greenfielder (10/5): A perfect base for our visit to Dunedin - One of the best hotels we used during our extensive New Zealand holiday. The staff were very helpful and the hotel was smart and clean. The room was brilliant and incorporated a washer and a dryer in the bathroom, which was invaluable as we had by then been travelling for two weeks. The location is near most central attractions such as the Octagon and the area round the station. We used the paid parking which is in a block literally across the access road from the entrance to the hotel. It was a weekend and the car park was fairly empty such that we easily found space on the ground floor - I suspect it doubles as commercial parking during the week as the hotel is in the business district when it would be much busier - and also cheaper on-street parking may be an option at weekend. Just remember to get your ticket validated at reception! We would definitely return here if we came to Dunedin again and there's so much we missed that we would love to return.

We asked if we could get our son a roller bed in our room for one of the 3 nights we were staying. We were told you dont do roller beds. It was a bit of an emergency that he ended up wanting to stay with us. We were very fortunate to secure the last decent bed in Dunedin for him. It was disappointing he could not stay with us.

• Clayton (10/5): An 11/10 experience I want to have again. - This hotel has to be one of the most comfortable I have stayed in. The room size is extremely generous with a sitting area and king sized bed, which was gorgeous to sleep on. The facilities were exceptional with a washing machine and clothes dryer which was ideal for us mid trip. There is even a wine fridge! But the best was the bathroom. Not what you get in 99% of hotels in this price range. Dual wash basins, a large shower space, super easy water control - just push a button - and great water pressure. There is a nice bar area and dining area. The service was fantastic and the food of high quality and reasonably priced. Nothing

• Alioune (10/5): Great place to stay - This is the kind of place every hotel room designer and interior designer should spend a night in to find inspiration. What a great place! I was expecting a great hotel, and I'm used to great hotels, but this one blew my mind, especially with the quality of room design. I can't find anything I didn't like, maybe the fact that they ask your ID when arriving: it's a common thing hotels do in EU and US, but NZ is a special place where people are more kind and no one ever asked for my ID, except in this hotel...

• Samantha (7/5): Comfortable rooms, other facilities could use work - The beds and rooms were very large and comfortable and I loved that they provided separate towels for makeup. The shower and water pressure was particularly. They also had a decent fitness centre which was appreciated. Several of the staff, especially Fatima, were also very lovely and helpful. When we first arrived, the woman who checked us in was not particularly helpful and offered no help with our bags. Instead we had to get the trolley ourselves and she asked us to unload the bags then move the car immediately. This meant my husband had to move the car while I had to deal with taking our heavy bags upstairs and unloading them (I’m pregnant by the way). We also did notice the hotel staff didn’t necessarily greet us when we came downstairs or came back in which would’ve been nice. We also found the breakfast selection disappointing, with stale pastries and the only fruit on offer was sitting in a bowl mostly of liquid and looked old (we went at 7am so it definitely wasn’t fresh that day), though it’s worth noting Dunedin has plenty of excellent breakfast options so I would avoid the hotel for it altogether. I was also disappointed that there was a fee for any other coffee drinks and they did not offer decaf filter coffee. Finally, while the addition of a nightlight for the bathroom is nice, it would be better if this light was warm toned rather than bright blue, which can serve to wake you up further if going to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Breakfast was okay but small sterno cans unable to keep the heated foods hot. Scrambled eggs were cold. Nice fitness center with multiple machines and battle ropes.

I'd expect Smart TV's in the rooms and a coffee capsule machine. Also there is no place to put soap or products in the shower.

• Barry (10/5): Enjoyable 2 day stay in the heart of Dunedin. - Well located modern hotel built behind a historic facade. Nearby parking was convenient, ability to access state highway 1 or the road out to the Albatross colony and Larnach Castle is good. Staff are friendly and professional.

• ALH2025 (8/5): Well located with decent sized rooms - Well located hotel with good sized rooms and decent food - especially the breakfast. Staff are friendly. Must visit the Duke of Wellington pub which is very close during your stay for a great old fashioned British pub atmosphere.
