• susanne (10/5): Special place - Lovely interior and rooms were comfortable . Food was outstanding . Delicious home cooked breakfasts and lift from the centre of town appreciated very much . The couple who ran it were a little distant and not very chatty

• Dave (9/5): A beautiful stay near Takayama - A beautiful property, the little touches like the fireplace, spacious rooms and very modern made it feel luxurious. Views of the trees and sound of running water from our room also made it relaxing. The dinner was epic - one of the best dinners we had in Japan - so good we did dinner twice (the wine pairing was interesting and worth trying). Whilst the property is outside the town, the free shuttle service was handy. Whilst the bathrooms are shared, they are very nice especially the hot bath. A few minor things - shared bathroom and only available at set times and being outside of town made it feel a bit restricted at times but it’s not too much of an issue.

• 株式会社 (9/5): 最高。また行きたい。 - 静寂な森の中。建物のつくりや、家具の配置、インテリア、鳥のさえずりと木々が風に揺られてささやく。 五感が研ぎ澄まされる空間で、セロトニンが高まりました。 季節によって飛騨高山の少し山の方はカメムシが出てきます。これは地域柄ですが、カメムシ対策として事前のお知らせや、お部屋からスタッフさんへ連絡できるツールがあると良いかなと思いました。

• Enrico (9/5): Alta cucina, ospitalità e relax - Posizione meravigliosa, in mezzo al bosco, proprietari gentilissimi e disponibili, cena e colazione buonissime, degne di un ristorante stellato, ampia scelta di vini da tutto il mondo. Camera ampia, pulita, con vista meravigliosa. Per la doccia (non presente in camera) ci sono 2 bagni in comune, ciascuno con doccia e vasca in legno con acqua caldissima! Super consigliato!!! Se posso fare una critica costruttiva, la questione dei bagni in comune andrebbe gestita in qualche modo, altrimenti si rischia di aspettare ore per fare la doccia se qualche altro ospite rimane nel bagno troppo a lungo (come è successo a noi).

Pedir la cena debería ser obligatorio, puesto que su propuesta de cocina italiana moderna es exquisita y a un precio razonable. Los anfitriones fueron muy educados, respetuosos con tiempos y espacios, pero siempre pendientes de nuestras necesidades e inquietudes. Si tenéis la oportunidad, debéis hacer uso del onsen. Añade un plus a la experiencia que pocos sitios en el mundo, más allá de Japón, pueden ofrecer.

• Buck Cheng (10/5): Charming Inn in Takayama away from city centre - This is my 3rd visits to Takayama this year during different seasons and this trip is mainly as a base for visiting Kamikochi. I booked this inn away from city center to experience the hospitality of a small family-run inn and the dining experience with wine pairing. Auberge Hida no Mori didn't disappoint 🙏🤗

• karim (10/5): Extremely charming place run by lovely people. - Everything was extraordinarily well handled. Dinner and breakfast were phenomenal. The staff was extremely friendly and spoke good english. There is an impressive wine collection and a very knowlegeable owner to cater to your tastes during dinner. The surrounding area is very calm and close to the forest for some serene walking in the morning. Probably the best place i have stayed in my month of traveling in Japan. The location is a bit far from the center and there are no easily available buses from the location going to the city center, but it was totally okay since the establishment offered me transporation to and back from Takayama whenever i wished.

• Jonathan (10/5): Lovely BnB with Amazing Meals - We had a wonderful 1-night stay at Auberge Hida no Mori! It is set in a peaceful location about 5-10 minutes drive outside of Takayama. The main attraction has to be the wonderful meals put together by chef Toshi and his wife. Absolutely sign up for the meals, you will not regret it. Only that we could only stay one night!

It was a serene stay with delicious breakfast and dinner. Toshi san also has an impressive natural wine selection. We highly recommend getting dinner there. We wish we could stay longer, but it was fully booked for the next nights.

Beautifully designed place, the aesthetic was a mix of Japan and Scandinavian and there were beautiful log burners. Ansonsten außergewöhnlich - allerdings muss man wissen, dass es etwas abseits liegt - mit Shuttleservice.

• Sophie (10/5): A beautiful stay with amazing food and views of nature. - This property had absolutely beautiful interior design with warm inviting lighting, and was nestled perfectly in a beautiful forest. The staff were friendly and the food provided was amazing - a modern and international take on traditional ryokan meals. The pyjamas provided were extremely comfortable and the rooms were cozy and minimalist with views of the surrounding forest. We loved the lounge area downstairs where you could relax with magazines and views of nature. Surrounding walks in the forest were lovely. The property is a little bit far out from Takayama but the property offered a lift to and from Takayama station and the central area of town. This wasn’t something that we necessarily disliked, however, as we wanted to experience a relaxing stay in nature and visit the nearby open air museum.

Very clean and minimalistic. There is no shower in the rooms, the shower is mutual with a hot tub, very clean and welcoming. Used privately by locking the door. Very comfortable bed and sheets. Dinner was amazing, creative, plated with details and very very tasty. The chef paired our courses with excellent wines. Our vegetarian member received alternative great dishes. We wish we had stayed more days at the hotel... Nothing

• Tange (10/5): また泊まりに来たいとすぐに思いました - とても良かったです。 ・チェックイン開始時間とともにチェックインし、まず檜風呂を利用しましたが、窓から綺麗な森が見えとても気分が良かったです。洗い場も2つあり助かりました。 ・お部屋はシンプルな作りで、おかげでゆっくり美味しいほうじ茶を飲みながら窓の外の緑を眺める時間が取れました。 ・そして何より、ご飯が本当に美味しかったです。 夕食、朝食ともにとても楽しませてもらいました。 ワインのペアリングが初めてで、お酒が飲める夫は終始ご飯とワインの飲み合わせに感動していました。 普段お酒を飲まない私も、調味料としてのワインに挑戦したところ、初めてアルコールというものを美味しく感じました。 スタッフの方のワインの説明は、無知な私でも面白いものでした。 ・施設は緑に囲まれたおしゃれで落ち着いた雰囲気があり、2階以降は靴を脱ぎスリッパとなりますので、衛生面も安心して部屋で過ごすことができました。

• Gwénaëlle (10/5): La perfection ❤️ - La perfection même ! L'Auberge Hida No Mori est située au bout d'un petit chemin, ce qui nous donne tout de suite l'impression d'un calme et d'un zen absolus. L'intérieur est superbe, bois clair et grandes ouvertures sur la forêt. Les chambres sont très spacieuses et confortables. Le luxe ici s'exprime au travers du mobilier, de l'agencement, des petits détails. Les bains sont super agréables. Et il faut absolument dîner au restaurant: la cuisine est inventive, délicieuse. Une expérience en soi. On aurait adoré y rester plus longtemps ! Pour l'instant l'une de nos meilleures adresses au Japon ! Rien. Tout est parfait.

The rooms are a great size, comfortable and the bathrooms have lovely hot water onsen baths! What sets this place apart is the amazing food you can have for dinner and breakfast. It’s the best feeling coming down the stairs to eat in their lovely dining space, experience the most amazing food and wine pairings of your life and then easily walk upstairs to bed. Came across Auberge in Booking.com & was curious to try this small but unique family-run stay. Glad to hv stay here to experience a different but cosy atmosphere unlike a usual hotel. no shower in room. need share 2 hot-bath with other guests. most guests would like to sit at the fire-place, but there were only 2 arm-chairs, most time they were taken.
• Jayne (10/5): Blissful Auberge and fresh air! - Absolutely gorgeous small hotel the design aesthetic was perfect. The hosts were truly professional and passionate about offering their guests exceptional hospitality. I loved the vibe - the music, the wood fires, the furniture, the lighting, the quiet forest location, sleeping with clean fresh air - windows which open! Blissfully comfortable beds and a very clean and enjoyable bath. I did not have to wait to use it. My room had a wash basin and bidet toilet and super soft sleep wear. The food was excellent and the vast wine selection a treat ! I recommend staying at least 2 nights it’s an ideal property for a rest day reading beside the fire. I am a regular visitor to Japan and I will definitely be returning, Hida No Mori is on my favourite list. Nothing to improve, a dream stay !

• Jewelle (10/5): The food was AMAZING!!!! The staff was so accommodating. - The quiet, clean, beauty. Small but that was perfect, we appreciated the small number of rooms-felt personal. Nothing to dislike.

• Sean (10/5): Luxury in the woods. - Away from the town, so free from disturbances in amongst the trees (but not entirely isolated - there are neighbours!) Oh, the onsen - shared but for private use with a window into the woods, but don't fall asleep in there, you'll upset the other residents! Stayed for dinner with paired wine - just fantastic...great food and drink, entertained by our amiable host. Free transfers around the neighbourhood/town, although we walked back from town via the Museum of Old Buildings and the winding forest road (including a stop at the microbrewery). Brilliant. We only stayed 2 nights...
• Yih (10/5): An oasis of calm and charm - A very stylish oasis of a hideaway not too far from the old town crowd that still retains the Japanese charm and sense of peace within the accommodation and its surrounds. We enjoyed the intricate 4-course dinner and had long group conversations over a bottle of good wine in a beautiful common space with a fireplace. The ample spaced shared bathrooms are a real treat after a long day in town. We slept very well on the comfortable beds and the loaned PJs were a dream during our 2-night stay. It was truly one of the more enjoyable stays we experienced during our trip around the gorgeous Gifu prefecture. Thank you for your hospitality.
