Located at the end of Lydiard Street the streetscape is timeless. The hotel team are attentive, friendly, and engaging of guest needs. The restaurant in collaboration with the hotel raised the bar with world class dessert chefs, culinary focus; and an outstanding attentive team. N/A.

Adrian (8/5): Historic building, very convenient to city centre - The room was very comfortable and quiet (being on the southern side of the hotel). Car parking was included and convenient. Excellent hot water showers! The hotel is a historic building very well located for easy access to the centre of Ballarat. This being a modernised room in an old-style hotel, it didn't have much space (eg no desk/table and little space to open suitcases). There weren't convenient powerpoints for charging phones, laptop etc. There was a kettle and fridge in the room, but no microwave to reheat anything.

Joanah (8/5): I would stay here again, great location but not sure I would go to the restaurant again - Very good location, very clean rooms and bathroom. the receptionist when we arrived on the Saturday was fabulous, friendly and helpful. Went for breakfast at Lolas, and as it was attached to the hotel and we had stayed, we did not book. We were told upon arrival that we hadn't booked so we couldn't have a table, although they then went and checked their bookings and said we could have a table. Then we ordered off the menu on the table but then were told sorry, that menu was for guests who had prebooked and so we had to order off a different menu. Then we actually waited and hour and a half for our breakfast. The food was very good though. Then when we went to pay, we were overcharged and it wasn't utilities I queried the price that they corrected it. Disappointed in our experience overall.

Amara (4/5): Unclean and dated - Not much to be honest! We booked the balcony room - so spent above and beyond - only to have at least 20 used cigarette butts in the pots outside. It looked like there had been a party or something out there and no one had bothered to go outside to check if it needed cleaning. There was a used takeaway bag in the Kitchenette from the previous visitors tandoori chicken. We know as it had their details and leftovers on the receipt. Aside from the outwardly unconsidered touches, the room itself could do with some love. The bathroom lighting cracked switch was completely cracked, which felt very unsafe. TBH I have never given a bad review! We usually book carefully and pay “premium” in locations to ensure we have made the right choice. Incredibly surprised at this.

greycells (9/5): - Room Clara 2 was brilliant. Comfortable and spacious. All the amenities were there. Beds very comfy. The staff were brilliant, helpful, and professional. They asked if they could provide assistance before we even requested help. My wife has a walker, and I utilise a crutch, and they made our 3 night stay a real pleasure. The only drawback was that for our room, it proved a little challenging, with the step into the room being a little high to get the walker in easily and to step up with the crutch. However, this was not insurmountable and did not detract from the overall fantastic room.

Carol (6/5): Disappointing! - Not much at all; and we are not fussy and do not have high expectations. Very tiny room- opening the door to the bathroom we only just cleared the toilet bowl. There were trip hazards everywhere - the most dangerous of which was a very steep step down from the very small bathroom to our very small bedroom which made night time bathroom visits an OH & S hazard. There was a tiny window that looked into a very close neighbouring brick wall making the space very claustrophobic. Had we been more assertive we would have insisted on a change of room or just left.

Vivian (8/5): Very pleasant - Loved the decor, it felt very welcoming & comfortable. The bed was a bit too soft for us, but we still slept quite well. We had breakfast in the restaurant which we thoroughly enjoyed....staff were excellent, as was the young lady on reception on our arrival. All in all, we would likely stay again when in the area. I did notice however, there were dirty handmarks on the edge of the bathroom door...they didn't appear to be new.!.....that was a bit disappointing as everything else was spotless.

Room was a bit small and cramped for 2 people. We’ve stayed at this hotel many times before and had very spacious rooms. I wasn’t paying much attention to the room type when booking. It was last minute and limited room options available.

Bathroom with great lighting for makeup. Great location near city’s restaurants and bars. The mats in the hallways were a little dirty as too was the door outside of our room. Given how lovely the restaurant and foyer was we felt this let them down. Restaurant menu would have been useful in the room. Cute outdoor area but not sure if we were able to use it. Would have been a lovely early morning coffee spot.

Jules (5/5): Due to the noise we won’t stay again. A shame because the hotel was nice - The hotel was lovely The noise from the trains was bad. We were told there were limited trains but trains ran till about 2am and started early morning. The bells were ringing and trains were blowing whistles. This made staying at the hotel a No for the future

Gina (5/5): check room type (and size). Book direct with hotel! - The Executive room was very disappointing. I have never stayed in such a small/cramped space unfortunately (one side of bed is up against the wall!)... and I had really high hopes for the Hotel. Also, no usb port (a very simple/helpful touch).
