Guest Reviews
- Susan (4/5): We will not stay there again. - The only good thing is the beds are comfortable The swimming pool has been closed for years There is no coffee maker in the room. It is worn out and not all that clean.
- Elizabeth (3/5): - Nothing Cleanness,a/c had i speed hi,valueterrible
- Deborah (8/5): Suited out purpose at a reasonable price. - The proximity to the ball field. The sheets on the bed were stained but when I asked for new ones, they quickly changed them.
- Monika (1/5): It was terrible - I didn’t the guy who gave us the key really didn’t know what was going on To old needs to be updated
- Dustin (6/5): - Pool+ gym was closed, a clear punch hole in the bathroom door
- Kristen (2/5): - too expensive for this sketchy place. owners dont care.
Bathroom window did not close and was open to the parking lot / I could see into my bathroom when I was outside. - No curtains or blinds offered either.
found a random pair of dirty socks in a drawer.
microwave shorted out as cable was damaged.
so much dust and cobwebs everywhere.
bathroom fan was filthy and had never been cleaned. piles of dust. do not offer plug tubs or any bath mat for in the shower (tub is very slippery).
Also bathroom light goes on automatically and the fan at same time is SOO loud! aweful in the middle of the night.
NO "pool or workout room" just a sign on a door that says out of order - covered with dust.
no automatic doors or ways to prop main door open for loading/ unloading.
the evening characters who hang out in the parking lot were quite lively and noisy.
I was travelling with my young daughter and this place was not ideal.
when i told the owners / front desk guy about the issues he simply shrugged... ok then.
I will not be returning.
- NIna (5/5): - The only thing that bothered me were the flies. Otherwise it was fine. Its a low budget motel-you get what you pay for.
- Lynne (6/5): - Owners are absolutely lovely. They had assigned rooms but my old mother could not climb the steps so they reassigned and helped us get settled. Very very nice. The motel rooms? They are not expensive, and a bit rundown but fairly clean and not scary. No vagrants, etc.
- kimberly and stephan (4/5): - motel room was dirty, hair all over the bathroom, sheets were dirty, floors filthy, and no mention that the swimming pool was under construction, we all had alot of bug bites on us in the morning before leaving.
- ANDREA (2/5): - There was excessive humidity, which is not good for health. The furniture and curtains were old and dirty, and the carpet was filthy. To make matters worse, there was no air conditioning, only an old fan. The only positive point was that the beds were clean.
- Robert (8/5): - Good place to lay your head for a reasonable price. Very friendly proprietors
- wotson (9/5): -
- Ed (4/5): - Staff was polite but not engaging. Pool closed, no notice on the website. No mention upon checking in. Bathroom clean. Room clean but stains on the couches, bedding and rug not vacuumed well. Maybe spot vacuumed at best. Pretty sure staff went through our bags, nothing was taken. Would not leave anything you want to keep in the room for more than a one stay.
- John (6/5): - This is an older property, and could use some touching up but the room was clean and comfortable.
- Tim (10/5): - Great staff and very quiet
- Phil (8/5): - Yay
- Andrew (1/5): The terrible smell in the room and the fact that it wasn't cleaned made it so it was almost impossib - Absolutely nothing. The room smelt of mold and dampness upon entry. The floor was filthy. The comforters had burn marks on them. The bathroom was extra disgusting with long hair all over the walls and crusty shampoo from the last person that showered still on the wall. I'll be surprised if I didn't get bed bugs from the place. Disgusting
- Aaron (5/5): Passable -
- Mike (1/5): Bad -
- John (6/5): - My room was very clean and comfortable.
TV needs to be upgraded.
Had difficulty using the Internet. Had difficulty playing Netflix movies on my iPad.

- Bert (10/5): - Easy property to get to !
- Bert (10/5): - Great stop for a clean bed ! Easygoing check in and quiet ! Next door to Timmy’s which is my addiction!
- isaiah (6/5): - -
- Matthew (10/5): - My stay at Canadiana Motel in Hanover was very pleasant.
Everything you could need is in a 1-2 minute drive from here, the owner (Ram) is very friendly, considerate and helpful. The rooms were very well priced, and was overall a very comfortable stay for me. Thank you very much!
- Sukhchain (8/5): - Everything is so close. Loved the city, so peaceful
- Miroslaw (6/5): - Very noisy toilet/ self emptying time to time and hard to control the AC unit. All the other stuff in the room very good .
- Fariba (8/5): - It was just okay
- Adam (2/5): - Upon arrival staff we friendly. It was only at check in that I was informed the pool was closed until further notice despite being advised and the reason I chose this location. The room was dirty and coated in dust. The only thing that seemed to be clean was the beds.
- Greg (2/5): - The location was convenient
- John (4/5): Disappointing - no breakfast
- Wendy de (8/5): - It had the basics which is all we needed
- Andrew (3/5): Poor -
- RUTH (4/5): - we did not end up staying. The indoor pool was the main reason for choosing Canadiana and after checking in, we found out that the pool and fitness centre was closed. Awaiting inspection to be able to open it again.
We stayed at a different motel.
- Yohannes (7/5): Good -
- Leena (4/5): - Dusty room. Bath tub and sinks are broken and moldy.
- Trevor (2/5): - Upon entering our room there was a pungent and overwhelming stink of urine and the deadbolts on the doors did not work. The staff were not willing to discuss these items with us to get a resolution and we were forced to find another place to stay. This room was not fit for use.
- Dan (4/5): - liked the convenients of short notice
- Mark (4/5): - Only if nothing else available.
- Bruce (2/5): - It was not clean
- Verified traveler (6/5): 👍 - Meh alright for a night or two I wouldn't stay any longer..
- Witold (2/5): - Nothing to like
- Dave (8/5): Nice place - Our stay here was good. Nothing to write home about but clean comfortable rooms at the right price.
- RENIEL (6/5): - It is just ok for the price. Well located. It is surrounded by many options of food. Do not expect a nice place to stay. Only to stay for the night and keep driving next day.
- Marty (4/5): Not pet friendly - This motel is falsely advertised. The website says that it is pet friendly. When you get there the sign says 'no pets', and upon checking in the guy says pets are not allowed in the room.
People clearly ignore this and bring in dogs, I saw two, as did I. But they really should change this rule and welcome all. The only reason I booked the room was the fact that I could bring my small dog. I should not have had to sneak him in.
Also the room is very dated, old furniture and chair was stained with dirt.
- Brenda (2/5): - It was stated on. the web site that this place was 'pet friendly'. I paid for the room and went back to the car for my pet only to be told that 'pets are not allowed'. Attendant showed me some clause in his paperwork that stated pets are only allowed in certain rooms. I was forced to find other accommodations on very short notice and was not given a refund. Attendant said he 'couldn't' give me a refund even though I had not entered the room!! VERY BAD
- KRISHNAKUMAR (10/5): Canadiana Motel - I recommend others. Two beds in a room. It can be accommodated a family of 4 persons. I don't think there is a single bedroom available. It is located in Hanover downtown is an added advantage. All the stores are available near this motel. Facilities are good for the price.
- Glen (10/5): Great bed. - Great comfy beds
- John (10/5): - Theywere helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff was helpful. The gentleman came to help me get my suitcase up the stairs. The rooms are outdated with old furniture and lamps but the bed was comfortable. B BUT to get into the motel was difficult because I have arthritis in my knees and the stairs are hard to climb.
That is the only entrance into the motel (they do have a emergency exit door).
I stayed there Mon, Aug. 9 to Tues Aug. 10. I take a friend from Hanover to Owen Sound for Medical appointments. The Canadiana is the cheapest in town so I stay there. Hopefully I will still be able to climb the stairs for the near future.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - not great but not bad either
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was ok, over priced due to long weekend.
- Verified traveler (2/5): -
- Matt (10/5): - Easily accesible to the main roads, very nice little town with much to explore
- Jay (8/5): Good location - Good for price and really nice location.
- vicki (4/5): Bad. - No disabled parking, no disabled ramp place needs painting and update is needed
- Lisa (2/5): - While the manager was very polite and helpful the room itself was very outdated and questionable on cleanliness. There were stains on the bedspread, the sheets, the towels and facecloths. There were very questionable characters in the parking lot doing very questionable things and to be honest we couldn't leave quick enough.
- Daniel (6/5): dark and dingy - Helpful staff but overwhelming odours from scented products or cleaners.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very friendly staff person who informed me when the pool was open with a phone call and helped with directions to local attractions
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Liked the Tim's next door. Didn't like the pool right outside our bedroom window.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The age of the facilities.
Very much out dated
Water pressure was weak
- Erin (8/5): - Property needs some maintenance.
Poor check out experience.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Had to kill 8 flies before we cpupd go to bed, window only opemed about 4 inches so only frresh air was to leave tjecdoor open, air conditiomer was old and dirty and too noisy to have on while sleeping, ..the while place sad and tired..and all this for more than $100
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Not at all what was advertised, rooms where dirty with cigarette butts around the bed. The rooms and blankets are very out of date with very little thin pillows.
- Dianne (8/5): - For the age of this motel, it is relatively good condition. Things need upgrading, but is still clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Lovely staff, great location. Wi-fi was down the whole time was the only negative
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good a accommodation for the price. The sweeping pool is a plus especially for the hot summer days.
- Randy (6/5): - Close to everything, rooms were ok. You get what you pay for
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Motel manager was very nice and accommodated for all my requests.
