Guest Reviews
- Weale (10/5): -
- Diksha (10/5): -
- Jessica (1/5): Never will return - I will say Michelle was lovely super helpful
The only reason I want to write this review is to mention how rude the owner is - he forwards the calls for the motel to his personal cell phone and then gets very ornery when you call the property The owner - horrible customer service
We left a pillow behind and asked if it could be left at the front desk - he didn’t pick up the first several calls, no voicemail option, and then got extremely angry and was swearing when we did get in touch with him
We explained that we have family leaving the town at 10, we’d like to know if the pillow is there so we could have them pick it up
It took 2 days to get an answer and then he absolutely reamed us out for calling and inquiring
I would say maybe don’t forward the property’s line to your cell phone if you don’t want to be reached by your paying guests
- Carrie (4/5): Fine if you don’t mind dirty rooms, foyer, no staff. - How close it was to the beach. No air conditioning, filthy, no ice.
- JAFFER KAMAL (1/5): -
- Rick (2/5): Not a happy camper! - We were supposed to have a king bed but upon arrival told there was a problem with the king bedroom so we had 2 queens which we agreed. Little we know they were renovating the king bedroom which was directly over the 2 queen bed room. First of all there is a large screen TV in our room but there was no live TV, no sports, no news, no movies etc unless you subscribed to Prime, Sportsnet, Netflix etc so we went to bed at 1030 and the noise above us continued all night. I yelled at them at 2:00 and again at 4:00 and it continued. They were dropping tools and stomping around all night. I was going to ask for a refund from Hotels.ca. This was definitely the worst hotel.ca experience we ever had. I would not recommend this hotel. There were no black out drapes, and the ceilings seemed to be thin enough that when the tools hit the floor above we could not only hear it but we felt it. There was no front desk person to complain to and I believe the workers may have been the owner’s family.
- Jordan (5/5): -
- Walter (1/5): We did not stay at the property as it was not as advertised and did not meet our expectations. - See below comments. The property did not meet our expectations and was not as advertised. We did not stay at the property and obtained a refund of our payment.
- David (4/5): Comfortable bed. Hotel is in need of work. - Good location for what we needed Needs a facelift
- Howard (7/5): -
- Sheeba (6/5): - Ok

- Verified traveler (6/5): - This place is ridiculously overpriced. It should be $120 -150 a night . It has a lot of potential, but it seems the owners could not care less. I know one couple left soon after arrival. There are a number of cottages nearby to stay in which offer better value
The restaurant below is in fact very good and even has live entertainment
- Quetti (8/5): Hubby and I enjoyed our stay. Will be returning for sure. - very close to a nice beach, close to Owen Sound and Sauble Beach. Clean and quiet. Nothing to add here
- Marie (6/5): Was cheaper than other motel/hotel stays and clean - It was noisy outside of my room at night and early in the morning. If anyone decided to stay do not get a room at the back of the building too noisy.
- Casimiro (1/5): - The only thing we liked about our trip was the beach and sightseeing. Staying at this Inn/Hotel was the worst experience ever. From day 1 ( out of 7 ) I had asked to change rooms. By the multi tasked personnel that worked there, I was told they were fully backed ( NOT ). The lady that worked there took care of the people coming in, she's also a waitress there, she also cleans the rooms and also has her ice cream business there. Her boss treats her like a slave. I can rant for days....but what I will say, I've never been in a room where it has been painted in the past and paint spots everywhere. Another interesting thing we noticed, their are no drawers to put our clothes that we had for a weeks stay. The two chairs and table in the room were used for that. So sad. I'm surprised this place hasn't gone up into flames and one of the wall outlets was burnt and it also had the A/C and mini fridge hooked up to that plug. That's a serious violation and hazard. The best of all, the washroom. It was 3 feet × 4.5 feet that's including the shower. I was able to go to the toilet and brush my teeth at the same time. The two real disappointments were.....I first contacted to owner of the establishment and he didn't care two flying birds about my issues. Also contacting Booking.com was very disappointing, I've called and complained about this establishment, sent out photos and videos. The best they did was credit me less than 10% of my 1 week stay. Shame on them. A REAL DISAPPOINTMENT.

- Marie -Helene (1/5): Would not recommend this place at all , very expensive for what it is !!! - Location is great up the street from the beach , beautiful sunset Old , run down , smelly , noisy
- Verified traveler (6/5): Two Nights Bday Weekend - This was a bday couples weekend for us and we stayed in room 7. At check in, the TV was not operational and there was no cold water in the shower. This was our first ever scalding hot shower at a hotel. Our concerns were discussed with Michelle who was responsible for the front desk and was very empathic and diligent about getting the issues resolved. However, the shower needs to be renovated as well as the plumbing. The room is small with a comfortable king bed and the AC works and we were grateful for this. The cost for this hotel is over priced. It’s not worth it.
- Christopher (8/5): - clean and nice staff
- ROB (7/5): - No Breakfast provided N/A
- Amy (10/5): - Walkable to the main beach and town to dine, clean, friendly staff
- Garrick (4/5): ABSENT MAGMT - nO MGMT AROUND, BATHROOM SINK PLUGGED, TIRED, YARD FULL OF GARBAGE, A HUGE OVERFLOWING GARBAGE BIN SAT UNEMPTIED AT FRONT DOOR ALL THE 4 DAYS I WAS THERE.
SHAME ON OWNERS, NO SERVICE AT FRONT DESK, WILL NEVER BE BACK
- Tiv (7/5): -
- Mike (10/5): - great little hotel that offers a quaint experience in Pt Elgin for a great price.
- Douglas (10/5): - Quiet, close to beach, pleasant and helpful staff.
- Kimberley (10/5): - This is a older but lovely little spot. The rooms are small but comfy. Very close to the beach, maybe a 5 min. walk. The staff were wonderful. There is a place to eat and they even had live entertainment, which was excellent. Your about a 10 min walk from the downtiwn area. It was a perfect spot for me and my friend.
- Alanna (8/5): -
- Glen (4/5): It was ok, but I probably would not stay again. - The location was great...close to the harbour and beach. The one bed was great and it was nice to have a microwave and fridge at our disposal. We were able to keep our freezer packs frozen with the use of the upstairs freezer...thank you. ould really use some painting...more insulation between room B and A. We could hear a lot of noise coming from that room throughout the night...even loud voices.
- Carol (6/5): - The property was ok but needs a total reno and refresh. Shower door not properly installed, moold present, etc
- babubhai (2/5): - Rundown property no toiletries Expedia should delist property
Stay away from place
- Deepa (2/5): - No reception, no coffee maker, no glasses, no soap, noisy fan, door not closing properly, hallway light getting in the room, extremely small shower stall, very small sink, bed rolled with slightest touch, very congested room, nowhere near the pictures shown on Expedia site, certainly would rate this hotel below 2 stars
- Wendy (2/5): Shameful accommodation - Shabby reception area. No one at desk . Room very small, dirty, peeling wall paper, filthy window ridges with one glass pane completely missing and damaged heating equipped. No coffee as advertised. No one to report to when we left 2 nights early.
- Mary (8/5): We will be back again next year. - This is our 3 yr staying at the Windspire …always found our rooms to be quite nice. This year we had a room on the bottom floor … great for my husband who has bad legs. Although the room was very nice the noise from the parking lot outside the windows & the gate outside the unit was most
disturbing. The hosts were very cordial, helping and friendly.
We will be back again next maybe to one of the other rooms on the second floor. The parking lot noise ….however, more so the gate beside the unit.
- dee (4/5): - Never saw anyone who worked there. Parking is limited. Noisy, as karaoke was happening downstairs. No handtowel or washcloths. It was minimal accommodations at best.
- Tanisha (8/5): - I needed just a bed for the night. It suits my needs. The room is small in comparison to other hotels I've been in but when u consider the type of place and location it makes sense. It has got an onsite pizza place and another burger joint, so dont have to travel.far for food.
The beach is like a 5 minute walk!
- Daniel (5/5): Passable - Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Room and shower were very small. The door was not properly fitted to the frame, with large gaps at the top and bottom. Light from the hall leaked into the room all night. We never got to see any management personnel our entire 2 night stay.
- kim (2/5): - Within minutes of Checking in we realized the bed was soaking wet and the ceiling was leaking water from the rooms above us. So far it has been acknowledged and they are trying to figure out what to do but we are out of our room with no answers as of now. Unhappy travellers with no solutions, the property is trying to fix it
- Sara (2/5): - Advertised as having air conditioning. It was a window unit that was hardly working and so loud. Very dirty. No one to check you in. They leave the key in your room door, so anyone can go in. 2 yowels, no face clothes and no bath mat. I ended up sleeping in my clothes as bed had hair in it and i didn't want my bare feet touching the floor. No onsite parking available, so i had to park down the street. Dirty mattress left in fron hall.
- Cole (8/5): Very good -
- Val (8/5): Cottage Stay - 4 of us stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage which was very nicely decorated. The unit had a full kitchen and queen size beds were firm but comfy. Lots of pillows which was nice too!! Most places do not have enough pillows.
The kitchen was stocked with all of the dishes and cooking equipment needed. There was even a fresh tin of coffee! The only thing missing were some coffee filters.
The beach is within easy walking distance. The little restaurant and covered patio was also nice. Even live music on the weekends.
We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return!
- Mircea (6/5): - The check in was smooth and quick. The room's AC didn't work, it operates as a fan only. Thank you for the fan instead.
The main reason we give a low rating is that the inn advertised that the breakfast is included in the stay. We found out only at the inn that the breakfast is no longer included. We could have picked another place if we would have know this in advance. Michelle said that she mentioned to Expedia to take the "breakfast included" option down several times and nothing was done. Not sure if it is Expedia's fault or Windspire's Inn fault. The restaurant next door doesn't offer breakfast either. There is quite a walk to the closest Tim Hortons, so at least a coffee maker in the room would have been appreciated.
- Jérémie (8/5): - The beach is near. No fuss about the check-in time.
- Mina (1/5): Decent cost effective stay - Decent Price and Michelle was very responsive One of our rooms, the window was broken so the room was full of flies
Other room was also full of flies and and was not clean at all
- Mark (6/5): - Poorly maintained,
- Margery (5/5): It was convenient and comfortable. - The room was tight but served its purpose as a haven in a storm. It was on a quieter street so that was good. Small room, close quarters, needed updating. It lacked amenities such as wash cloths, coffee/tea, cups, mugs, etc.
- Bryan (10/5): - Michelle and Sarah made our stay even better! They are amazing! The room was nice and a little rustic. We went out for a wedding and the inn really made my stay great!! See you again soon Michelle and Sarah!!
- Laura (7/5): I would book here again as a solo traveller and I will recommend others stay here as well! - The room was quite spacious and it had everything I needed for a relaxing weekend! An added bonus was the mini fridge and microwave plus the tv that had various streaming apps available. The overall inn had a warm, welcoming and comfortable feel to it and it really had the "country" vibe! I also loved how close this place was to the lake/beach and to grocery stores. Interestingly enough my room did not have a trash can, so I ended up collecting my trash over the few days I was there and discarded it at the end of my stay. I am sure if I had asked the front desk they would have been happy to provide one! Parking was rather tight even though I had a smaller car, so be prepared for that and the bathrooms can be a little tight as well. There is no complimentary breakfast as some booking sites suggest for this place, but there is a restaurant that supposedly has great fish and chips located just downstairs.
- alankQ8867LU (2/5): Rude staff, run away - Tried to confirm my reservation for three rooms. Staff told me that if I booked through a third party they won’t do that. When I said I’m giving you a lot of money I was told they don’t give a fill in the blank about my money. I suggest you go elsewhere. Hard to believe they are in the hospitality business.
- Blair (8/5): Old school comfort and very clean - Excellent place recommend it to all easy access lots parking very comfortable will b back
- Martin (9/5): Superb -
- Cassandra (2/5): - No one there to check me in...............
- Sarah (4/5): - Good place to go for beach
- Laura (8/5): - Bathrooms need to be updated
- Babak (10/5): Clean, safe, good location. - Clean rooms, the facility has everything you need. I stayed here for a week and will be back again in the future. N/A
- Muhamad Taiseer (10/5): - Very cosy
- Ashar (4/5): - No parking spot was available and no hot water in the shower .I could not shower in the morning
- Joseph (1/5): Ridden with bed bugs - Nothing Staff were rude and aggressive
- Praveen (8/5): Very good -
- Bruno (4/5): Never again - They didn't know I was checking in... I pay for the rooms in the morning and I still had to wait for confirmation when I got there... Wasn't clean... U can see on pictures...missing a tv...towels all dirty on the floor ... One hour to wait for fresh towels....electric outlets missing the covers... Very danger for children ... Very bad service...
- Muhsin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Giselle (8/5): Very good - Good location, nice room, friendly staff The receptionist wasnt at the desk when we checked in. Had to call on my cell phone, which costs money.
- Rosamaria (7/5): It served the purpose of my visit. The hotel is having renos which will serve to update it. - There was no breakfast included. Having coffee maker/coffee in the room.
- Jenny (3/5): Poor -
- Michael (7/5): Good - Breakfast not provided
- Sandra (4/5): very disappointing - Th e bed atmosphere and general appearance
- Robert (6/5): Pleasant -
- Joe (6/5): Pleasant - Location and quiet
- Barry (5/5): Disappointing - the room was clean but one table lamp did not work there was no service, i only saw 1 staff member the whole weekend. no one at the front desk. very little parking.
- Joan (6/5): - Lovely place but did not let us know live entertainment weekends, right below our room, very loud, could not sleep.
Also, black out curtains would help as street light shone right into the room through sheer curtains. Otherwise, lovely street, close to water.
- Denis (6/5): Budget-friendly option in Port Elgin if your main priority is a place to rest your head - The Windspire Inn in Port Elgin served as a convenient base for our recent trip, primarily due to its proximity to the MacGregor Point Provincial Park The hotel's amenities were limited, which may not suit everyone's needs.
- Kaushal (8/5): Very good -
- Nishant (5/5): Passable -
- Olha (7/5): Comfortable place, easy going staff, 300 meters to the beach! - Cozy, homey place. Friendly and caring staff.
Thank you. The room on the first floor had a stale smell, just air it out.
- Ryan (3/5): Poor - The people we're friendly. For the amount we paid, the room (and especially washroom) we're very small. Not the cleanest rooms either.
- Robin (8/5): Very good -
- Adoranti (8/5): Very good -
- Jim (4/5): Hey … it’s a room. Not the best but sure not anything great. Not 5 star or even 4 or 3. It’s a room. - Close to where I was going. They advertised as a king room at 495 feet … hey that’s big … I measured with tape and everything with the shower less than 250 feet. Tight room.
Coffee available in morning … but better like it black as there is limited or no cream.
- Leny (6/5): Pleasant - Location. On a quiet street 3 blocks from beautiful beach, 4 blocks from Main Street with restaurants. Shops, gas station and only 15 min drive from the national park. Booking pricing was too high per night and for the end of season.. Pricing at other inn per night and closer to the beach was only $90 per night, which brings us to $180 plus taxes. We could had saved over $120 for the 2 nights. This pricing was for a much higher quality inn or hotel.
- MICHAEL (4/5): - no towel rail, no sink plug, taps leaked, floor sloped.
- Aileen (8/5): Very good - Check in was easy and liked that there was soap and shampoo in the bathroom. The towels were super soft! Our room was facing a road with street lights. The curtains were very sheer and let in a lot of light. It might be better to have room darkening drapes for those rooms.
- Kerry (5/5): Passable - Small room. No place to sit.
- Stephen (5/5): Passable -
- Douglas (8/5): - Clean room, comfortable bed, easy to walk/drive everywhere, quiet street, great restaurant (Duffy’s)
- Sanjay (8/5): - Good
- Chloe (8/5): Very good - Great location! Just up the street from the beach and close to any essentials you may need. Room was large and bright, and the beds were comfortable. Nice little BBQ area in the back with some tables and lounge chairs. Outdated and some parts of the room weren't super clean. Moldy shower, dirty faucet, very dusty fan. Walls are paper thin so you can hear everything around you.
- Katie (3/5): Great location, terrible bed. - Great location. Super old and needs a refresh. Bed was old and very uncomfortable. The bed was terrible.
- Chris (9/5): Superb - A nice, quiet place with coffee in the morning, and a good restaurant with tasty battered fish and fresh cut chips.
- daniel (10/5): - Very clean rooms
- Gordana (8/5): - Cute older oroperty that has been renovated.Rooms were super clean and comfortable.Few minutes walk to beach.Fish and chips restaurant attached.Good vslue.
- Vanessa (8/5): Very good -
- Pastagiya (3/5): Not good at all, waste of money - There is no breakfast, no cleanness, less comfort, and a poor room including bed and shower system
- Angeline (9/5): Superb -
- Kristin (4/5): Good location - Room was clean and somewhat updated. Common areas were rundown. Blinds on window would be nice. Felt like neighbours could see in.
- Ragy (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mark (1/5): We refused to stay because price charged was much more than quoted price when we booked. - Location near harbour was fine. Manager did not give quoted booking price. They refused to give it when we provided proof and charged much more to our credit card that guaranteed the room.
Bathroom was dirty. Poor curb appeal. Junk filled garage greeted us upon arrival.
- Climber20185738120 (4/5): Would not recommend policy on early check out not clear nor available. - Be very careful when booking. I booked through Booking.com and ot was impossible to change the reservation. I will be checking out a day early but will still be charged for last night. No one is able to provide a policy for this. What I have been provided is the following. I was instructed by the hotel to contact Booking.com. which I did but have not yet received a response.
Cancellation policy
You may cancel free of charge until 1 day before arrival. If you cancel within 1 day before arrival, the cancellation fee will be the cost of the first night. If you don't show up, the no-show fee will be the same as the cancellation.
I advised the hotel over 24 hours before I planned to check out.
Only Netflix available on TV. No breakfast as advertised.
- Bullock (5/5): The inn is good only for a place to sleep. - There was no breakfast provided. Very dated decor. Little effort given to enhance the aesthetics inside or outside.
