• daisy732014 (10/5): A stunning hotel and experience - Stunning location just outside Positano. My bedroom was lovely with a balcony and coast/sea view. The common areas were wonderful too - the large room incorporating reception and concierge had lots of seating areas and felt really relaxed. So much to see and photograph inside and on the grounds but the jewel is the famous terrace with majolica benches overlooking Positano - I spent hours admiring the terrace and the view. The elevator to the beach meant I could eat at the beachside restaurant and view the tennis court in its unique setting without tackling hundreds of steps. Loved the cute 'bits and bites' van on the terrace. Service throughout was wonderful, whether housekeeping, concierge, reception, boutique, catering or waitstaff. Smooth transfer to/from airport and additional trips were arranged for me. There is also a free shuttle 24/7 to the edge of Positano. Generous free provision of minibar drinks/snacks in room and delicious inclusive breakfast with a huge buffet choice and hot food cooked to order. Staff rushed to open doors for me (I am on crutches) and escort me up steps, and boutique searched stockroom to find perfect souvenirs for me. This was meant to be a 'one and done' trip but I really hope I can return - would go in late April next time to see the grounds in fuller bloom but everything was already beautiful early April.

• Ricofah (10/5): Milestone Birthday Celebration - The staff and property are the best we’ve experienced and should be commended in every way and we appreciate how well we were taken care of. The concierge and reservations team took care of everything perfectly from the moment we made the booking (even allowing us to shift the days due to our circumstances without any issue) we were also upgraded to a larger room which was a nice surprise. The room and fixtures and amenities are superbly maintained and the bath and shower are modern. The bed is extremely comfortable. The views from all areas of the hotel are stunning and the location being outside the main part of town allows for a quiet relaxing experience. All the services from restaurant bookings including transport and recommendations, where to shop in town were given clearly. The best managed property we have experienced everything was immaculate. But most importantly the staff at all levels were superb. Very friendly efficient and took care of everything with an Italian smile and warmth. We had a cooking class that was great and got to experience local cooking. We used the complimentary shuttle to and from town that was a bonus and the complimentary boat service as well. We had dinner at Zass which was wonderful. Overall if anyone wishes ultra luxury yet friendly and quality service this is the most recommended hotel you could stay at in the area and that blows the competition away.

From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and cared for — every interaction was warm, thoughtful, and genuine. Our room had absolutely stunning views from the balcony — the kind of view you can’t stop staring at, no matter the time of day. We enjoyed so many of the complimentary activities the hotel offers, including a cooking class that was such a fun and memorable experience. We also loved spending time by the pool, sipping Hugo spritzes, and simply taking in the peaceful beauty of the property. Dinner at their Michelin-starred restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip — honestly one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The setting, the service, and the food were all perfection. Walking through their gardens and seeing the fresh ingredients they grow and cook with made it feel even more special and meaningful. Every corner of the property feels cared for and truly magical. It is luxurious in the most relaxed, authentic way. We left already talking about when we can come back — because we absolutely will.

We were greeted with such warmth and grace, It’s rare to find a place where elegance and heart intertwine so seamlessly, and Il San Pietro truly embodies that spirit. The rooms were simply stunning — each view and every detail more beautiful than the last. Photos can only attempt to capture the magic; in person, it’s pure poetry in motion. Dining at Zass and Carlino was a masterclass in warm, elegant hospitality. Every member of the team embodies professionalism and grace, perfectly paired with unforgettable cuisine, wine and views that awaken every sense. One of our favorite memories was the boat ride to Amalfi suggested by the Concierge on the perfect weather day — an absolute core memory. We got caught in a rainstorm after traveling to another town along the coast and the ferry system stopped travel back to Positano and therefore we were at a loss as to how the best way was to return to the hotel as it was somewhat late after dinner. Sarah, at the reception desk, was so helpful and had a car sent out to pick us up. Thank you so much Sarah as we thought possibly we were having to find a hotel in a different town or take the bus…if that was even possible. Thank You from the bottom of our hearts. • 632miam (10/5): Unmatchable service, views, amenities and personal touches. It is a cannot miss year after year. - Oct 25 This is a premier hotel, always on every ‘World’s Best’ list. Year after year, it doesn’t disappoint. In fact it gets better. The property is the best in Positano. It sits just outside and delivers a premium view of Positano with its own beach club, spa, tennis court (sitting next to the ocean!) Italian lessons, live music, and daily excursions on their personal yacht which is stupendous. This year they have opened their in house store which exceeds expectations. Everything you need and want, with intricate personal details throughout. May have bought one of everything! This family run, generation after generation, honestly couldn’t be better. The team here are so well acquainted with their guests and one another, they become instant family. We have been coming since 2017, traveled the world and stayed at luxurious properties, but end up always comparing them to the level of service and beauty found at ISP. If you are planning on traveling to the majestic and grandeur of the Amalfi coast, you do have options of lovely places to stay, however, none will even come close to Il San Pietro. The location cannot be surpassed but the service and loveliness of the family here is unmatched. Truly untouchable.

For us, we love the easy connections you can make with the staff team. Everyone is so nice and welcoming, and always available to answer a question, provide some advice on what to do/see, and just about anything else you need. We love Pasquale at the pool - I can't imagine being at the San Pietro and not spending time with Pasquale. We had lunch at Carlino's and two dinners at Zass. Each was delicious and we had a wonderful time talking with the staff about the meal and Positano. I am hesitant to call out anyone by name because the whole staff is wonderful - and, yet, I must say thank you to Mr. Andrea, Roberto, Alfredo and Giuliano for always making our time at the San Pietro feel so magical. We look forward to seeing you again next summer. Of course, we must mention the hotel itself and the beauty of the location. It's simply off the charts. We often spend time just staring into space - taking in the water, the mountains, Positano and the hotel itself. The goal each year is to enjoy the hotel and all it has to offer and to also burn in those memories of how special the location is to us and many others. The Il San Pietro never disappoints.

• georgiep785 (10/5): Perfection in Positano - It is rare when a hotel continuously takes your breath away, but the Hotel Il San Pietro Di Positano is such a place. We were a group of four friends who travelled to this outstanding hotel to celebrate one of our group's special birthday. From the moment you arrive to every step you take around the hotel (even while working out in the fitness centre!) you are treated to picture postcard perfect views of Positano and the surrounding area. The hotel is effortlessly elegant - from the individually designed bedrooms, with their unparalleled views, to the beautiful beach club, the tennis court, as well as the fabulous bars and restaurants dotted around the property. The bedrooms are very well equipped (I have to mentioned that they have a clothes steamer and a Dyson hairdryer!) and all the amenities you require. Soft drinks are complimentary in the mini bar. What makes the Hotel Il San Pietro stand out is the level of service from the amazing team of staff there. Before our stay I was in email contact with the fantastic reservations team led by Lorenzo who went the extra mile to make this trip more memorable and special for my friend whose birthday it was (and for the rest of the group!). We were greeted on arrival by the wonderful General Manager Andrea, who I don't think gets much sleep as he was so often in reception chatting to guests! I've stayed at several luxury hotels around the world and it was refreshing to see the GM so much (and I also noticed walking to breakfast that the door to Andrea's office was always open which was lovely to see and very welcoming). Alfredo, the Head Concierge, and his team were always on hand to help and give expert advice, especially when we had to change our plans to go to Capri last minute due to an incoming storm. There is so much to do at the hotel we could not fit it all in, but everything we did was great fun and expertly managed. We did the complimentary (daily) two hour boat trip on the hotel's boat, the cocktail making class (thank you Salvatore!) and had a lesson with the tennis pro Francesco on the sensational tennis court. We ate at Zass, Carlino and Bits & Bites - all are excellent. If you go to the beach club please try to take the steps down on occasion to see the gardens and view - it's really beautiful (there is a lift down too). Breakfast was everything you would expect from a hotel of this quality and utterly delicious. Three nights was not enough! We very much hope to return to this special place.

I have been staying here since 2002 but the visits became annual about 2012 or so. There is nothing I can say except that everything you want in a property in terms of service, quality of rooms, quality of restaurants, quality of the main buildings, quality of the beach experience is here. Every thing is excellent in every way. I have been to a lot of properties literally around the world and many were Relais properties. This is the best of the best.

• scottsB6450BI (10/5): HISP is the BEST. - Hotel Il San Pietro is one of the finest hotels you will likely ever encounter. It is perched on a cliff adjacent to Positano. The pool, ocean club, Michelin restaurant, and the view cannot be beat. Cocktails on the back patio before dinner are as good as it gets, the views are literally unreal. But HISP doesn’t stop at the facilities, it only starts there. The service is what sets this place apart, from reservations, to the front desk to Andrea the general manager, you will not find service really anywhere that can match HISP. As busy as Andrea is running a world class resort with 2 restaurants, you will see him several times a day to make sure your experience is perfect, and he will immediately direct staff to a fresh cocktail, an on site made limoncello, a snack, a dinner reservation or really whatever you want. The cooking classes are great, the boat ride is great (they have their own boat), and a water taxi to Positano for dinner is amazing. Their beach club and service is just unreal. You won’t have a better experience that HISP!

Even the bathroom had a sea view. A very luxurious hotel with high-class service. The restaurant in the hotel has exquisite cuisine. The hotel has a lot of entertainment and a very beautiful beach on the sea. The pool is very well located with a sea view. I want to say that the hotel is very luxurious. On my birthday we had dinner in the hotel restaurant, it was unforgettable. The cooked rabbit was very tasty and in general all the food cooked in the restaurant was wonderful. Every evening a unique dinner. The weather at the end of April is wonderful. Every day the sun is bright that you need to have sunscreen. I recommend this hotel as a high-class hotel.

Formally it was upgrade(new room bigger and on the site price is higher)but it is close to public WC, on the top is public terrace (a lot of noise) , plans and design of the room not good.The junior suit with I have booked through booking.com in times better. Nobody tell me a reason why it is happening.
• maddya810 (10/5): Magical experience - HSP is truly the definition of hospitality. On arrival we were greeted by Andrea, the manager, congratulating us on our anniversary. Check in was very easy. The property itself is breathtaking - from the decor to the impeccable landscaping!! service is top notch- they truly think of everything. We didn’t eat at zass but carlino by the beach was delicious. It is tucked away about five min from the main part of positano making it nice and quiet. The shuttle service to town is 24/7 which is so convenient- I recommend only visiting in the evenings to avoid the massive day tripper crowds. Overall we had an incredible experience and it was worth every penny. We will be back!!

When people say this is their favorite spot in the world, even that is an understatement . It defines luxury and sophistication yet maintains a timeless charm and unmatched views of the Mediterranean Sea hundreds of feet below. The staff and management are extremely courteous, friendly, and eager to help in any way possible. While not in the heart of downtown Positano, it is only a 5-minute ride away which is a plus, as it is more quiet and not as bustling with tourists as the others in town. As a result, it is the only luxury hotel with its own private beach club, tennis courts, etc., in town. Their upscale restaurant, Zass, is also a truly remarkable dining experience with attentive servers and awe-inspiring views. If you are looking for the ultimate luxury hotel experience while traveling to Positano, the il San Pietro is the only obvious and highly recommended option. An amazing stay!

Owned by the same family since it's inception, you feel at home, with good friends, when you visit. It's peaceful, secluded and private. Such a stark contrast to the crazy crowds of Amalfi, Capri and Positano. Each room is different - colorful yet elegant. Their private beach and the water toys are terrific. There are no better views anywhere on the Amalfi Coast, maybe in all of Italy. The food (and wine list) at Michelin star Zass and Carlino's (on the beach) are both incredible, especially after their complete kitchen retrofit. The staff is uniformly attentive, friendly and warm, yet highly proficient and professional. My wife and I found Hotel il San Pietro twenty years ago and just finished our fifth visit with our family. We cannot wait to return!

We visited at the end of April 2025 for our honeymoon. Katie and I are well travelled, yet this is the first time we have experienced a combination of true luxury along with the feeling of staying with family at home. The ideal location and venue speak for themselves as this is obviously one of the best geographical locations to stay in the Amalfi coast, but the unique selling point here is the manager Andrea and his team. On arrival to the hotel we were given the warmest of welcomes (which included being handed a strawberry Bellini!), received congratulations on our marriage by all the staff, and given what I can only describe as the most generous room upgrade imaginable, which we are eternally grateful for. Other highlights included: daily and complimentary 9am yoga and Pilates classes, which were the perfect prerequisite to the best breakfast we have ever eaten (buffet and cooked-on-request food in a Michelin-star restaurant), complimentary cooking classes (pizza and pasta, the chefs were incredible and very patient!), luxurious and private pool which was very clean and served tasty cocktails/ice coffee/snacks, a terrace with lovely seating looking out to stunning views which included a food cart serving delicious late afternoon small bites, complimentary return boat trips into Positano, beachside restaurant providing relaxed and informal dining, the world class Zass restaurant which must be experienced to believe the high level of service and quality of food, tennis court (which had a stunning cliff edge backdrop!), and relaxing in the hotel foyer which, despite the multitude of other available amenities, was surprisingly the best way to spend the early evening thanks to the attentive and engaging staff, who created a wonderful atmosphere. Chilling out at the balcony near the sunset time was superb. big green olives (super delicious) were served along with the welcome drink... with the comfortable live music. that was very bellisimo welcoming moment. we love loads of things there... we love the location with very convenient boat shuttle and car shuttle to the town. we love fitness both indoor and outdoor under the lemon trees... with the bicycle facing the ocean cliff... it is very beautiful sunlight around 4-5PM too. we love concierge suggesting delicioso ristorante and menus. we love staff welcoming and helping everything we need. we love the breakfast full of variety of menus and ingredients, we had wonderful 4 BF meals. we love wine tasting with sommelier who also has knowledge of olive oil tasting too. we love the rabbit menu at the hotel restaurant too... that was beyond expectation. it is huge too for 2 ppl. we love saying our room number.... 8 and 1/2 we felt very special every single time we say it. couldn't explain more.... there are many detailed moments that captured our memories... until we meet again. • LGspartan (10/5): Stunning Hotel Outside Positano On The Sea - Celebrating their 55th anniversary, San Piedro is third generation now run by two brothers who have made this a true 5-star property. You know your experience is going to be amazing when you are greeted by the hotel GM and sure enough, we met Andrea Zana in the beautiful lobby overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. He is there daily and oversees personally that his guests are well taken care of. We splurged for my special birthday and stayed in the original suite that was built before the rest of the hotel. The suite features a wrap-around balcony overlooking the sea with comfy lounge chairs. The suite also features old photos on the wall of the property from years ago along with well maintained furnishings with a rustic Italian theme. Book #23 well in advance. Suite included a complimentary mini bar, snacks, and their signature travel bag and slippers to take home. Bathroom was small yet had one of the best rain showers. Service here is the main attraction. 190 employees, many here more than 40 years respond instantly to every request and treat you like the owners. Love this example: I swam daily at their luxurious outdoor pool. The towels are situated right before you enter the pool area. And there you meet Pasquale who has been there 45 years. He wouldn’t allow me to take a towel, he had to personally take it to my chair. One more example: Marco, the oldest brother, offers personalized tours of Posatino on Saturday morning’s complimentary. He’s not only a great tour guide, he practically knows most of the 4000 residents. The hotel is actually a resort as it features a private beach area with lounge chairs, their amazing casual restaurant, Il Carlino, and boat service to Posatino. There is a small spa and tiny gym. Even though the gym features two spinning bikes, rower and treadmill outdoors under a lemon tree grove, the indoor gym is too small for the guests that want to workout. I would love to see another gym on the beach and more free weights. The main restaurant is open for breakfast and features one of the best buffets, everything super fresh and tasty. You can also order hot items like omelets and pancakes, all included. At night, it’s a one star Michelin starred restaurant for the past 24 years manned by the same chef and 32 cooks. Very impressive. I love the location 1KM from Posatino as it’s quiet, elegant and nowhere the throngs of tourists. They offer 24 hr shuttle service along with boat service. I also love the grounds which are terraced and filled with thousands of flowers, vegetable gardens for their restaurants and if you are so inclined, can walk or run the 430 steps down to the beach. Overall, staying here is a true indulgence worth the investment as you are capturing a rare moment in life and get to truly understand Italian hospitality at its best. And yes, the views are to die for!

The architecture is breathtaking, and the rooms are exquisitely decorated, blending classic charm with refined elegance. We had the great pleasure of meeting the owner, Virginia Attanasio — a gracious and pleasant lady, accompanied by her adorable dog, which added a warm, personal touch to our stay. Every staff member was impeccably dressed in elegant uniforms, and their professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail were truly exemplary. They made our experience unforgettable.
• leighmalone (10/5): Unbelievable Experience - Perfection at every turn! We had to make some last minute changes to our trip, and switched to this hotel after booking Le Sirenuse. We arrived late, and they kept their restaurant open for us to have our first meal at Zass, which was amazing. The service and experience made you feel completely pampered. We were upgraded to an incredible suite with two bathrooms, balconies and a gorgeous view of the town. Being a first time visitor to Positano, we were SO thankful for its location and quiet luxury. For those who crave exclusivity and a true (not trendy) experience, it's the only choice!
• M6581POsgd (10/5): Perfect - A perfect stay near Positano. The hotel facilities are outstanding, the food is great, but what really stands out is the service. You feel like family the moment you walk in; the wait staff remember your name and room number after your first meal; they greet you warmly everywhere and are extraordinarily helpful. The views both to Positano on one side and Praiano to the other side are beautiful. The hotel is expensive but worth it, and includes many extras such as free cooking classes, free pizza making classes, a free shuttle to Positano (a short ride), and a must do tour on their yacht between the hotel and Amalfi. Santa Caterina is an amazing place but this hotel might just beat it.
• laurw12 (10/5): A must stay! - Il San Pietro is a hotel in it's own class. It stands above the rest. It's a gorgeous property unlike any other place we've stayed and all services are top notch. All of the food was delicious and every experience at or set up by the hotel was always exceptional. We always got a little extra with everything offered. Such special touches. The staff is beyond welcoming and friendly. The entire staff exuded joy so it was impossible to not be in a good mood during our stay. We enjoyed room service from our stunning balcony, small bites on the roof top, breakfast on the balcony, the seaside restaurant Carlino's and the Michelin start Zass - we loved it all. The best way to describe our stay at Il San Pietro is magical. We are already talking about coming back!

All of the food at breakfast, in the terrace restaurant, sushi truck and Michelin starred restaurant are absolutely delicious. The pool terrace is perfect for a swim and relaxing after sightseeing, as is the private beach club area. The hotel hosts complimentary cocktail making, cooking classes, boat trips and morning pilate sessions. Didn’t stay long enough to enjoy the tennis courts and spa! The staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. We didn’t stay for longer!!

We were blessed enough to have stayed here last summer and it has been in my dreams ever since! The staff and manager were so kind and friendly to my husband and I and to our two teenage daughters! We talk about our visit there all of the time and how we can’t wait to go back! I am blown away by the reviews with some of the negative comments ! While I respect their onions, I have to disagree and I hope that the hotel continues to keep it tranquil quiet so people can enjoy the beautiful sounds of nature and just relax!! One of the reasons we chose this hotel was because it’s secluded from the noise and chaos. I also could not have appreciated the beautiful soaps more and still have them set aside in their beautiful box. The panoramic vistas of the Amalfi Coast are simply breathtaking—so much so that they take your breath away the moment you step onto the terrace. The view alone makes this hotel worth visiting, a sight that you'll never forget. As expected from a hotel of this caliber, the service is impeccable. The staff is polite, friendly, and professional, adhering to the high standards one would anticipate at such an exclusive property. However, despite its undeniable beauty and exceptional location, there are a few drawbacks that, unfortunately, detract from the overall experience. One of the major issues is the atmosphere—or rather, the lack of it. The hotel’s outdoor bar is a lovely spot with a view, but there's a notable absence of music, which feels a bit strange for a luxury hotel. The silence makes it feel somewhat lifeless, and unless you're interested in complete peace and quiet, it's hard to relax in such an environment. In comparison, the Hotel Sirenuse, a direct competitor, offers a more vibrant and lively atmosphere, with music playing softly everywhere—whether live or from speakers—which makes it easier to unwind. Moreover, the hotel lacks any real sense of activity in the evenings. By 10:30 p.m., the only sound you’ll hear is the chirping of crickets. There's no entertainment or energy after dark, which can make the hotel feel a bit dull. While the restaurant does have some live music, the pianist only plays, without singing, which feels a little less engaging compared to other high-end hotels where live performers often sing along with their music. Another downside is that if you want to enjoy a drink or smoke an Icos, you’re left sitting in silence outside at the bar. It’s almost eerily quiet, and without any music or social ambiance, it can feel lonely and a bit sterile. Given the hotel’s steep price tag—nearly €15.000 for just three nights—it feels like a missed opportunity not to offer a more vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere in the evenings. In comparison, I felt much more relaxed and at ease at Hotel Sirenuse, which provided a more dynamic and sociable environment, complete with soothing background music. In summary, while Il San Pietro di Positano is an objectively beautiful hotel with exceptional views and top-tier service, it falls short in providing the lively, engaging atmosphere that one might expect at such a luxury property. For that reason, I would rate it 3 out of 5. It's hard not to compare it to Sirenuse, where the overall experience—view, service, and ambiance—felt much more enjoyable.

Our room was beautifully appointed, featuring an incredibly comfortable bed, breathtaking views from our balcony, and exquisite finishes throughout. It exceeded our expectations in every way. Breakfast at Il San Pietro was a dream. The buffet offered an impressive selection of fresh, high-quality options, with something for every taste. From pastries and fruit to local delicacies, everything was beautifully presented and delicious. We especially loved the personalised touch – anything we requested, from perfectly poached eggs to delicate crepes and excellent espressos, was made on the spot. It was the ideal way to start each day, with fresh, varied options and stunning views to match. A standout highlight of our stay was the complimentary boat ride to Amalfi, where we enjoyed a picturesque swim in crystal-clear waters. The hotel’s amenities are equally outstanding, from the scenic outdoor gym and tennis court with a view to the exclusive beach club nestled against the cliffs – each detail truly exceptional. Every aspect of our experience at Il San Pietro was curated to perfection, seamlessly blending luxury with genuine hospitality. Friendly and helpful staff, excellent food, exceptional design and decor, super comfortable beds, superb location. The views are stunning, like from a movie set. We can’t wait to be back!
• Guide663368 (10/5): One of finest hotels in the world - We were absolutely blown away by ISP. We usually stay at Treville, a few hundred metres away towards Positano, but as they were closing for the season we moved to ISP. Treville dropped us off in their boat, and we made our way up the lift to reception. As soon as stepped out of the lift we immediately decided to extend our stay for another night. The views are simply extraordinary, and a we were fortunate to be upgraded to a suite with a wall of glass overlooking Positano. Even the shower and tub had the same panoramic view. The food was exquisite, both at the informal beach restaurant and their Michelin restaurant, Zass. Yes, it is expensive, but the food and drink prices are very reasonable for a hotel of this quality. The mini bar was included, and they even threw in lunch on the beach on the final day when they were closing. Throughout the stay, there was huge generosity of spirit, with the most charming staff, led by the best GM we have ever experienced running the show front and centre. It is unfair to compare ISP with Treville - they are both world class hotels. Treville is akin to staying with friends in their incredible private villa, whereas ISP is the full 5 star hotel package with facilities and restaurants to match. But both excel at service, with nothing too much trouble. We can’t wait to visit again!

This was the last leg of our honeymoon around Italy, and the entire experience took us by surprise. I knew Amalfi was beautiful, but was shocked at the initial arrival, reception, and overall property at San Pietro. We were greeted by the GM and the receptionists, who could not have been nicer and more welcoming to the hotel. A glass of champagne, a congrats on the honeymoon, and an upgrade on the room was not necessary but of course very much appreciated. The room was astounding, as well as the rest of the grounds throughout our 3 nights on property. The service was impeccable in the bars, restaurants, pool, beach club, boats, and drivers. The only time I have had this type of personalized experience combined with a jaw dropping property was the original Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai. The property is perfectly curated for beauty and convenience, and made 3 days on the property perfectly relaxing, indulgent, and absolutely first class. I cannot wait to return - bravo Il San Pietro!
