- Laura (7/5): - La proximité de la plage.
Petit dej copieux au restaurant C'est très difficile de capter la wifi dans les chambres.
- Malisha (10/5): - Comfortable, clean, polite staff Shower too small, tiling could be updated
- Chaussé (8/5): -
- Svea (1/5): Poor value for money, major facilities did not work (broken AC, no hot water). - There was a fridge None of the facilities worked. No hot water and the AC was broken. Would have expected to get a discount but staff only said “sorry”. Overall poor value for money. No check-in instructions for late arrival (8pm)
- Christine (5/5): - Staff are really friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Customer service is second to none. Accommodation requires modernisation.

- Nyha (5/5): I enjoyed my stay. EVERYONE was awesome. Because of the staff,, area and price I would visit again - The staff :everyone working there is very friendly, kind and helpful. Portsmouth Beach Hotel needs a upgrade and this isn't just paint. Inside the rooms from tiles, the bedding, curtains and the appliances need a upgrade. Not all rooms are equal.
- Clemence (10/5): -
- Steven (8/5): The rooms adequate size and well appointed with a refrigerator, coffee maker, desk, sofa balcony - pleasantly surprised. The staff, like most everyone in Dominica, was very friendly and accommodating. The location is ideal with their own gated entry to their grounds, private beach as well as separate cabins available for rental
- Fabrice (10/5): Déconnexion totale et lieu paradisiaque - Le lieu et le calme Le système d’eau chaude qui est limite
Absence de téléviseur dans les chambres a
- Kamila (10/5): - We spent a few days in this amazingly located hotel. The staff are amazing and the location is breathtaking. The hotel itself is very quiet and a little bit outdated, but we just slept there and spent the rest of our time exploring the island and relaxing on the beach just next to the hotel. In the bar, I would recommend a rum punch; just be careful, it's stronger than you think. There are a couple of shops near the hotel where you can buy extra supplies and a great pizza place just a few minutes away. The town center is approximately 20 minutes' walking distance from the hotel.
- Nehron (8/5): - We had local breakfast which was good
- MADINA (8/5): -
- Willem (7/5): -
- Ana (8/5): Nice stay - Beautiful sunset.
The property is right on the beach.
Nice grounds. The beds are small.
Too .many mosquitoes
- Tigere (7/5): My stay was good - Television and telephone in the room
- Peter (3/5): Very unpleasant place to stay. Dated and uncomfortable. - Location was ok but beach isn’t great. Very dated felt like a prison. Only chairs on the balcony no table. Bed was really old and uncomfortable. Air con worked but was incredibly noisy. Just not a pleasant place to stay.
- Delah (5/5): For the price it was kind of okay but it was not up to hotel standards at all. - The breakfast was the part that we actually enjoyed The room was neat and as clean as it could be for its age, but the toilet and sink were not very clean. There is no tv, no phone to communicate with font desk. The bed was very small and there was no blanket/comforter or extra pillows
- juliana (7/5): - Staff. No internet and dtaff threw away personal item with out asking no internet for2days
- Alexander (7/5): Nice experience! - Friendly staff, Clean rooms. All amenities worked The bathroom sink was leaking
- Ronny (10/5): -
- Marie (8/5): -
- Shaquor (1/5): Worst place in Dominica to stay - Nothing ‼️ The rooms were not cleaned properly, dusty, beds were so small for 2 person to fit on. Ac unit was not working for my entire stay;they brought me a fan to use.
The restaurant food was so expensive and the portions didn’t worth the price.

- Butterfly Tours (8/5): -
- Pamela (5/5): Passable -
- Kristiina (5/5): Passable - Easy booking, staff was welcoming, room right next to the beach. Toilet didn't flush good, water stopped coming from the sink at some point, heard neighbouring rooms and noises from the corridor very well. Facilities desperately need an upgrade.
- Tracy (3/5): Poor - Very nice staff Place is run down
- Matthias (7/5): Good - Location on the beach is good, although it is not a beautiful beach. Room was painted new and functional, though design is really old and makes you looking forward to go home again. AC + shower worked, bed was cosy, room was very clean. Doors from the rooms are very old, so you hear the local people talking outside in the hallway or in front of your balcony very loud in your room. New windows, but still old wooden door as mentioned above. Hotel was probably built in 1960ies or 1970ies, design and furniture are vintage and would need upgrade to justify the high price. It was not possible to bill meals from the restaurant on the room if you stay less than 1 week.
I tried whale snorkeling, but no whales there on consecutive days.
- Anne (7/5): Nice stay on the beach! - Location on the beach. AC. A bit out of town.
- Emma (8/5): Very good -
- Prudhomme (5/5): I can’t recommend this hotel. - The beautiful view and the staff. No hot water for the first nine days and at times beyond that. Had to make my own bed but they did give me clean sheets. No kettle, toaster, coffee press upon arrival. Kept having to ask for things that should have been in a kitchen for our two week stay.
- Schlafman (7/5): Great location next to the dock for our dive trip, with an extremely nice staff! - The hotel's restaurant had a decent breakfast that met expectations. The front desk staff was especially nice and when I had a minor problem with my room they did not rest until it was fixed - fantastic! Nothing to dislike - the room was fine, which met expectations given the price.
- Zahaira (10/5): Wonderful place to get away and relax. - I like the location and yard space.
- Barbra (9/5): Great place, decent price - I liked that it was close to the beach. It felt relaxing hearing the waves crash as I went to bed. The Beach bar was also a nice spot to go relax and read a book The shower for sure needs updating. At least make it so that it's tiltable and able to adjust the temperature and not just one temperature.
That was pretty much the only issue I had with the spot
- Caryl (5/5): My stay was adequate but not special and a little dissapointing. - I did not eat breakfast in restaurant. The restaurant closed at 3. Would have preferred to eat dinner there. There was no microwave in room - but there was a toaster oven with no oven proof dishes. Listing mentioned a drying rack - when I asked for one - housekeeping said they did not have - however did offer me to possibly dry clothes in their area or laundry services provided by outside company. Attempted to order fruit plate in restaurant (was told that they only had bananas). There was also no local cuisine available - therefore never returned to restaurant but ate off premises.
- Gabriel (4/5): Stay was ok. Location and quietness excellent but overall property needs upgrading to meet demands. - Breakfast was enjoyable except that some items that were on the menue that made it appealing was out. We were also battered by rough waves breaking into the restaurant Renowned and known dominican coco tea was watery or weak
- Stephen (8/5): Lazy old world charm. - Quiet beacfront location Not much else around in terms of eating options.
- Deyana (10/5): Exceptional - Great stay good location
- Patrice (7/5): Good - Good place, 👍 Light kitchen equipment, no coffee machine but coffee 😉
- Jennifer (10/5): Thanks for a great stay! - Really great stay! Everything was comfortable; the hot water shower worked well, nice fridge/microwave/hot water kettle/French press for coffee. Even if you book the room with garden view, you still get a sea view!
Dinner at restaurant absolutely amazing! While the dinner staff at the restaurant was great, the breakfast staff was a little slow/unhelpful. Food was still good.
- Denese (7/5): Nice location and handy to stores for supplies. -
- Rita (7/5): Good -
- Gaye (8/5): Rooms not so great but the staff made up for that they were all lovely and helpful - The staff were fabulous The rooms were very average and couldn’t get hot water for a shower
- Zuzana (8/5): Very good -
- Dylan (9/5): Superb - good AC, restaurant and staff nice
- John (7/5): Decent for the price - Great No swimming pool
- Karam (5/5): Just ok. - Location Restaurant
- Cherrylips (8/5): Thanks to the staffs for making our trip clean, fun & easy definitely recommend. - The staffs were super friendly & helpful especially the receptionist Gio. I like that they offered breakfast on site and that the rooms were cleaned almost every day I have no bad review
- Marva (4/5): - I booked this trip for my clode friend. She was extremely disapoibted because the A/C didnt work and she spoke with the front desk more than once on the issue. Additionally during her stay housekeeping never changed the linens..she did not enjoy her stay at all. It was very uncomfortable
- Sheryl (8/5): Very good - Room was functional and clean. The hotel met my expectations.
- Carlene (3/5): They only good thing it was close to the beach - The location was too far from Roseau and the Airport. And it had no pool. We ate from the establishment outside. The television please install it in the rooms and put in a pool.
- Arlington (8/5): Very good -
- Yva (1/5): Bad -
- Eric (7/5): Good -
- Mathilde (8/5): Very good - I think the hotel is better than described here. The beach is much better than expected and there is WiFi in the rooms and across the grounds. The staff is incredibly kind. Close to a great affordable restaurant, Strawberry Restaurant, and a good supermarket, Savers enterprises. Room service would come at random hours and if you were still in they would not come back. I ran out of sugar and toilet paper and it was not replaced. The on-site restaurant appears to be mostly closed and breakfast options are a bit pricey.
- Jeremie (1/5): Bad - My money you'll toke off my card n declined my payment I want it please
- Murlina (6/5): Very quiet environment, met a few pleasant and helpful staff. - A staff member kindly provided ground coffee, milk and sugar.
This staff member was the most pleasant individual at the hotel.
The room was always clean and towels provided daily. No restaurant at facility.
Had to ask for a kettle to make a cup of tea/ coffee.
Upon check out there was no one present.
No TV in room
- Onoriode (9/5): Superb -
- Tim (9/5): Great place for the price and location - Very nice place at the beach; warm shower, airconditioning, nice bed, nearby shops and restaurants, big room It's not new, but that is what I like.
- Hill (1/5): Bad -
- Stella (8/5): Very good -
- Gary (8/5): a very nice stay - the staff was so kind and helpful, made us very comfortable some food service would have been nice, like a snack or coffee bar
- Judith (7/5): Location beachside is lovely, staff very helpful. Expect dated/sparse amenities. - Location, location, location, right on a wonderful beach! Swim-able and walkable, water temperatures amazing! Beautifully kept grounds with very accommodating staff, very good security. Easy walking distance to several restaurants in Picard, the actual location of Portsmouth Beach Hotel. This was important as there are not any cooking facilities in the rooms. The dated and sparse amenities, only two lounge chairs for the entire complex. Our “suite” had a half fridge and a microwave, no stovetop nor coffee maker, a table to use as a counter, no kitchen sink. PBH has to update their listing information on Booking.com as it is misleading; it states one thing and a different paragraph says the opposite.
- Family (6/5): Six sisters and four cousins in Dominica - The staff were great. Friendly and accommodating.
Supporting us to negotiate ordering taxis, booking excursions and arranging beauty treatments.
They took time to get to know us, we were a large group. Even going as far as to know when each party was checking out and time of their flight 👍👍 Did not like the room. It was more shabby shabby than shabby chic.
Extra bed was small, low and uncomfortable.
Towels were frayed and of poor quality.
The whole hotel requires refurbishment.
The restaurant was closed, which proved a great inconvenience, considering that there was no cooking facilities in the room or any means to prepare a simple meal.
- Nelista (7/5): My stay was great , enjoyed the beach front. - The location is great. The amenities in the room.
- Rita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rosie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (3/5): Poor - The pop up restaurant was great-the food was tasty & well presented. Kudos to the chef & staff-they we're very welcoming-Marva, Keanne, Alicia(hope I got the names correct). The service & food at the restaurant were the positive highlights at the hotel.
The staff made all attempts to facilitate requests for transportation & room issues. The rooms are in need of serious upgrade-the first room I was placed in was musty. When I turned on the pipe in the bathroom, the water was initially brown. The ac was making a noise and not very cool and the fridge & microwave did not seem to be working.
Thanks to Vernelle who arranged a room change. The next room was tolerable. Note there is no TV or phone in the rooms and no full length mirror. Toiletries are the bare minimum-towels, toilet paper & bar soap.
It was far from the capital (about 1 hour/1h 15 minutes) so if in attendance like I was for the World Creole Music Festival-it is quite a journey back & forth.
- Anonymous (7/5): Solo traveler had a great time snorkeling, guides were great and the hotel was at my disposal for assistance. - I was placed in another cottage that was better than the initial one given to me. Great experience overall. No Sunday activities but everything else was fine.
- Girard (4/5): Terrible stay and overpriced in a very old outdated room - Beautiful beach view but it’s an island so….. No tv in the room (which I agreed to during booking) but spotty wifi which meant I couldn’t watch Netflix so my nights weee terrible
- Astrid (7/5): Good - Right by the beach
Nice helpful staff
Snorkeling right there
The littke huts by the beach are great The regular roms could use an update or at least some nice (!) pictures in the Wall and/ or colourful curtains and decorating cushions to make them a little inviting.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patrick (4/5): - The bed was too small
- Sebastien (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abraham (3/5): Poor -
- Sharrone (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was really nice and helpfull !
The cottages were great !
- Martin (8/5): Overall I was happy with my stay and I would definitely return. - The staff are very friendly/helpful and the location in Portsmouth is perfect just on the edge of town. The hotel sits right on the beachfront ideal for swimming, snorkelling and perfect for watching the setting sun. There is a reef right next to the pier you can spend hours snorkelling and observing the marine life, the hotel lends out snorkelling gear for free. Unfortunately I timed my stay badly as the hotel was having a refit to the restaurant/bar so I cannot comment on that. The room itself was very basic and averagely clean okay for the price, could do with a kettle and some kitchen utensils to use with the microwave.
- Rosie (4/5): Disappointing - Location Rooms were awful you couldn't even call it student accommodation
- Brittney (7/5): Budget friendly on the loveliest beach - The location was absolutely wonderful - what a beautiful, peaceful view to wake up to in the morning. The staff were all friendly and as helpful as they could be. The grounds were very well-kept and it was lovely to see the many fruit trees. We really didn't sleep much, unfortunately. The beds were highly uncomfortable and we had many issues with the a/c units and the refrigerators in the room (some of our food spoiled because they weren't working). The staff did their best to try to help but in the end, we still went without specific amenities. I wanted to really love this place (I've stayed in the beachside cottages before and had a better experience), but those basic necessities did cause discomfort. I suppose you get what you pay for here; lovely location, great on the budget, but not the highest in comforts.
- Pascale (8/5): - Restaurant onsite is closed for repairs.
The staff is great.
The rooms are basic but the AC is wonderful.
The fridge is a great perk.
- Ibiyemi (9/5): An Ocean view dream come true... - I stayed in a room with a balcony overlooking the ocean 🌊 and went to sleep each night with the rushing sounds of the waves...It was a dream come true!
I enjoyed sitting on the plastic adjustable lounge beach chair, observing the ocean's ripples and waves, and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the island 🏝️
The staff were friendly, helpful with information on places to visit on the island, and very respectful. I would have liked to eat at the hotel's restaurant but it was not functioning at the time. I sourced for food (very tasty food from Green Light Restaurant) in the town centre.
- Margaret (1/5): Not worth the money for the room but great location. - The location was amazing couldn't fault it and the onsite restaurant was great. The restaurant was Good value for money and right on the beach .very romantic. The reception staff were so helpful as my case was lost for 2 days. All the staff were really polite. The bed in the room was very comfortable. Facilities absolutely poor.we had a fridge microwave 2 glasses and that was it .no tea making Facilities or plates etc.what is the point of a microwave? We asked for a kettle which we got and was told the room we booked came without a kettle. We also had to buy 2 mugs and borrow a spoon. The room was so basic we couldn't make a coffee after travelling for 15 hours.very disappointed. Definitely not worth the money we paid I think it was 1200 $ American at that. Its only saving grace was the location. That was excellent. And no I wouldn't stay there again. Sorry.
- Lennon (7/5): Good -
- Miriam (6/5): Miriam 's Opinion - Location and staff were very good .The beach is close and convenient. Area is always neat and tidy The cottages need to be sealed more tightly to prevent small animals and insects from entering the building
- Tom (7/5): Good -
- Aaron (10/5): - Great hospitablity.
- Estelle (8/5): Very good - A quiet place to stay with a public beach
